1Erosion behavior and failure mechanism of Ti/TiAlN multilayer coatings eroded by silica sand and glass beads显示文摘Severe erosion by hard particles is a crucial problem to engine blades when aircraft take off and land in harsh environments, especially for the developed lightweight titanium alloy components. Here, we deposited the Ti/TiAlN multilayer coatings with various cycles on Ti–6 Al–4 V substrates by a home-made hybrid multisource cathodic arc system. The effects of the silica sand and glass beads on erosion behavior of the coatings were focused. Results showed that the Ti/TiAlN multilayer coatings eroded by the silica sand exhibited the predominant 'layer by layer' failure mechanism. In particular, increasing the number of cycles led to the dramatic increase in erosion rate for Ti/TiAlN multilayer coatings, due to the deterioration of their mechanical properties. Different from the silica sand case, however, the erosion rate of the coatings treated by glass beads indicated faint dependence upon the number of cycles, where the coating failure was dominated by the 'piece by piece' failure mechanism. Noted that the Ti layers along with the formed interfaces enhanced the erosion resistance of the coatings, although the failure mechanisms were differently eroded by silica sand and glass beads. 2Structural design of Cr/GLC films for high tribological performance in artificial seawater:Cr/GLC ratio and multilayer structure显示文摘In this paper,graphite-like carbon(GLC)films with Cr buffer layer were fabricated by DC magnetron sputtering technique with the thickness ratio of Cr to GLC films varying from 1:2 to 1:20.The effect of Cr/GLC modulation ratio on microstructure,mechanical and tribological properties in artificial seawater was mainly investigated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS),nano-indenter and a reciprocating sliding tribo-meter.The propagation of defects plays an important role in the evolution of delamination,which is critical to wear failure of GLC films in artificial seawater.Designing the proper multilayer structure could inhibit the defects propagation and thus protect the basis material.The multilayer Cr/GLC film with optimized ratio of 1:3 demonstrates a low average friction coefficient of 0.08±0.006 and wear rate of(2.3±0.3)×10^(-8)mm^3/(N m)in artificial seawater,respectively.Lei Li Peng Guo Lin-Lin Liu Xiaowei Li Peiling Ke Aiying Wang 2018Journal of Materials Science & Technology2018,34,8:7
3Quantitative response of oil sunflower yield to evapotranspiration and soil salinity with saline water irrigation显示文摘Appropriate application of water-salt-crop function model can optimize agricultural water management in regions with declining water supply,such as the Hetao district.Appropriate use of saline water is also based on the effects of irrigation water demand and water quality on crop growth quantitatively.Therefore,oil sunflower growth testing under both water and salt stress was completed from 2013 to 2014.Water salinity levels at 1.7 ds/m,4 ds/m,6 ds/m and 8 ds/m were used in the experiments.Two water deficit levels were reported,60%and 80%of the irrigation quota,which were considered moderate and mild deficit levels,respectively.All treatments were applied in planting the oil sunflower in critical growing periods,namely,floral initiation,anthesis and maturity.Linear,Cobb-Douglas,quadratic and transcendental function models were used to simulate the relative yield,evapotranspiration(ET)and electrical conductivity(EC).The predictive ability and sensitivity of each model were then evaluated.Compared with salt stress,water stress exerted a more significant effect on the oil sunflower yield;the water parameters(a1 and a3)were most sensitive in the water-salt-crop function model.Oil sunflower was most sensitive to water and salt stress during anthesis.The transcendental function generally showed a relatively high sensitivity coefficient and a relatively small statistical error.Therefore,the transcendental function is the most appropriate model for simulating and predicting the yield of oil sunflower irrigated with saline water.Applying the water-salt-crop function model in planting of oil sunflower can help in the development and utilization of saline water in the Hetao district.He Xin Yang Peiling Ren Shumei Li Yunkai Jiang Guangyu Li Lianhao 2016International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2016,9,2:4

5Optimized Bio-inspired Micro-pillar Dry Adhesive and Its Application for an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Adhering on and Detaching from a Ceiling显示文摘Various bio-inspired dry adhesive materials have been investigated.In this work,lithography and silicon deep etching method were used to fabricate bio-inspired micro-pillar dry adhesive materials of which the parameters,such as side length,Height to Side length Aspect Ratio(HSAR),and inter-pillar Distance to Side length Aspect Ratio(DSAR)were comprehensively studied to obtain a dry adhesive with high adhesion.An orthogonal array method was designed and a series of fabrication experiments were conducted to identify optimum parameters,which resulted in a high normal adhesion of 2.98 N·cm^-2 and a shear adhesion of 9.59 N·cm^-2.An adhesion and desorption device was further designed on basis of the optimum dry adhesive,which enables an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)to successfully adhere on and detach from a ceiling.This would allow an UAV to stay aloft for prolonged time,which could be invaluable to many applications,such as energy conservation and aerial detection.Qingsong He Xianrui Xu Zhiwei Yu Kai Huo Zhaoyang Wang Nuo Chen Xuean Sun Gui Yin Peile Du Yang Li Zhendong Dai 2020Journal of Bionic Engineering2020,17,1:2

8Insights on high temperature friction mechanism of multilayer ta-C films显示文摘In this work,the high temperature friction mechanism of the tetrahedral amorphous carbon(ta-C)film was elucidated.The multilayer ta-C film with alternating hard and soft sub-layers exhibited a low friction coefficient of 0.14 at 400℃ before a sudden failure occurred at 4600 cycles.The wear failure was attributed to the gradual consumption of the ta-C film at the contact region.The design of a hard or soft top layer effectively regulated the high temperature friction properties of the multilayer ta-C.The addition of a hard top layer contributed to a low friction coefficient(0.11)and a minor wear rate(4.0×10^(-7)mm^(3)/(N m)),while a soft top layer deteriorated the lubrication effect.It was proposed that the passivation of dangling bonds at the sliding interface dominated the low-friction mechanism of the ta-C film at high temperature,while the friction induced graphitization and the formation of sp^(2)-rich carbonaceous transfer layer triggered C-C inter-film bonding,resulting in serious adhesion force and lubrication failure.Moreover,the multilayer ta-C film with hard top layer obtained excellent friction performance within 500℃,while the high temperature induced oxidation and volatilization of carbon atoms led to the wear failure at 600℃.Jing Wei Peng Guo Hao Li Peiling Ke Aiying Wang 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,2:2

13Scalable carbon black deposited fabric/hydrogel composites for affordable solar-driven water purification显示文摘Interfacial solar-driven evaporators have presented great potential for water purification owing to their low energy consumption and high steam generation efficiency. However, their further applications are hindered by the high costs and complicated fabrication processes. Here, a scalable bilayer interfacial evaporator was constructed via an affordable technique, in which carbon black deposited nonwoven fabric(CB@NF) was employed as the upper photothermal layer, as well as PVA/starch hybrid hydrogel for selffloating and water transport. Under simulated one sun irradiation, CB@NF layer displayed excellent photothermal conversion performance, whose temperature could increase 30.4 ℃ within 15 min. Moreover,the introduction of starch into PVA endowed the hybrid hydrogels with considerable water-absorption capability on the premise of ensuring mechanical properties. The resultant CB@NF/PVA/starch composites achieved superior interfacial adhesion performance with interfacial toughness at about 200 J m.Combining with good evaporation performance, salt-rejection property and high purification efficiency on pollutants, this evaporation system would become a promising candidate to alleviate water shortage.Ying Guo Congqi Li Peiling Wei Kai Hou Meifang Zhu 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,11:1
