1Differentiation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells Into Dopaminergic Neuron-like Cells in vitro显示文摘To explore the way to induce mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to differentiate into dopaminergic neurons in vitro. Methods MSCs were obtained from rat bone marrow, cultured and passaged. MSCs used in this experiment had multipotency, which was indirectly proved by being induced to differentiate into chondrocytes and adipocytes. MSCs were cultured in medium containing 0.5 mmol/L IBMX for 2 days. Then the medium was replaced with induction medium, which contained GDNF, IL-1β, mesencephalic glial-cell-conditioned medium and flash-frozen mesencephalic membrane fragments. The surface markers of the differentiated neurons, such as NSE, nestin, MAP-2a, b and TH were detected by immunocytochemistry and Western blot after MSCs were cultured in induction medium for 7 days and 15 days. Results MSCs differentiated into neural progenitors and expressed nestin after MSCs were incubated with medium containing IBMX for 2 d. After the medium was replaced with induction medium containing many inducing agents, MSCs differentiated into neuron-like cells and dopaminergic neuron-like cells and expressed NSE, MAP-2a, b and TH. The percentage of NSE-positive cells, MAP-2a, b-positive cells and TH-positive cells was 30.032±2.489%, 41.580±5.101% and 34.958±5.534%, respectively after MSCs were induced in medium containing GDNF, IL-1β, mesencephalic glial-cell-conditioned medium and flash-frozen mesencephalic membrane fragments for 15 days. 2Climatic Warming and Humidification in the Arid Region of Northwest China: Multi-Scale Characteristics and Impacts on Ecological Vegetation显示文摘The climatic warming and humidification observed in the arid region of Northwest China(ARNC) and their impacts on the ecological environment have become an issue of concern. The associated multi-scale characteristics and environmental responses are currently poorly understood. Using data from satellite remote sensing, field observations, and the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 6, this paper systematically analyzes the process and scale characteristics of the climatic warming and humidification in the ARNC and their impacts on ecological vegetation. The results show that not only have temperature and precipitation increased significantly in the ARNC over the past 60 years, but the increasing trend of precipitation is also obviously intensifying. The dryness index, which comprehensively considers the effects of precipitation and temperature, has clearly decreased, and the trend in humidification has increased. Spatially, the trend of temperature increase has occurred over the entire region, while 93.4% of the region has experienced an increase in precipitation, suggesting a spatially consistent climatic warming and humidification throughout the ARNC. Long-term trends and interannual changes in temperature and precipitation dominate the changes in climatic warming and humidification. Compared to interannual variations in temperature, the trend change of temperature contributes more to the overall temperature change. However, the contribution of interannual variations in precipitation is greater than that of the precipitation trend to the overall precipitation change. The current climatic warming and humidification generally promote the growth of ecological vegetation. Since the 1980 s,82.4% of the regional vegetation has thrived. The vegetation index has a significant positive correlation with precipitation and temperature. However, it responds more significantly to interannual precipitation variation, although the vegetation response varies significantly under different types of land use. The warming and humidification of the climate in the ARNC are probably related to intensifications of the westerly wind circulation and ascending air motions.They are expected to continue in the future, although the strength of the changes will probably be insufficient to significantly change the basic climate pattern in the ARNC. 6Thermodynamic study and syntheses of β-SiAlON ceramics显示文摘Based on the thermodynamic study of β-SiAlON and one section of Si-Al-O-N phase diagram for Si/Al=9 at 1773 K, the pure β-SiAlON (Si6-ZAlZOZN8-Z) ceramics with different Z values (viz. 1.4, 1.8, 2.2, 2.6, 3.0) were synthesized at different temperatures using the pressure-less technique. The relationship of the experimental-saturated Z value (the maximum Z value at a constant temperature) with temperature was then discussed. The experimental results indicated that there is a good linear relationship between Z value and temperature, which is Z=_10.76+0.0071T (R=0.9985). The β-SiAlON stability regions at different temperatures were exhibited in a sketch phase diagram of Si3N4-SiO2-Al2O3-AlN system. 7Trends of environmental accidents and impact factors in China显示文摘An overview of the spatial and temporal variations of the environmental accidents in China in recent years was presented in this paper using available data.The results showed that the frequency of pollution accidents was significantly decreased,from 3462 in 1990 to 462 in 2007.The water and air pollution accidents were found to be the dominant types,accounting for more than 80%of the total accidents.Considering the classification of environmental accidents at 4 scales,the general environmental accident,i.e.,the least serious type,was the most frequent event,taking up 58.98%of the total pollution accidents.In addition,the distribution of environmental accidents was generally in accordance with the industrial layout in the country during the past decade.It is very important to note that the extraordinarily severe environmental accidents showed an increasing trend in underdeveloped regions,which was caused by the transfer and the development of heavy polluted industry in these areas.As to the losses of environmental accidents,the casualties presented an obvious reduction tendency,while the direct economic loss per accident tended to climb up.Furthermore,some key factors that affect the spatial and temporal tendencies of environmental accidents in China were discussed and some suggestions were put forward,hoping to shed light on environmental risk management and emergency plans making associated with environmental accidents in China.Pengli XUE Weihua ZENG 2011Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2011,5,2:5
8A preliminary analysis of the surface chemistry of atmospheric aerosol particles in a typical urban area of Beijing显示文摘Atmospheric aerosol particle samples were collected using an Ambient Eight Stage(Non-Viable) Cascade Impactor Sampler in a typical urban area of Beijing from 27 th Sep.to 5th Oct.,2009.The surface chemistry of these aerosol particles was analyzed using Static Time of Flight-Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry(Static TOF-SIMS).The factors influencing surface compositions were evaluated in conjunction with the air pollution levels,meteorological factors,and air mass transport for the sampling period.The results show that a variety of organic ion groups and inorganic ions/ion groups were accumulated on the surfaces of aerosol particles in urban areas of Beijing;and hydrophobic organic compounds with short-or middle-chain alkyl as well as hydrophilic secondary inorganic compounds were observed.All these compounds have the potential to affect the atmospheric behavior of urban aerosol particles.PM1.1–2.1and PM3.3–4.7had similar elements on their surfaces,but some molecules and ionic groups demonstrated differences in Time of Flight-Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry spectra.This suggests that the quantities of elements varied between PM1.1–2.1and PM3.3–4.7.In particular,more intense research efforts into fluoride pollution are required,because the fluorides on aerosol surfaces have the potential to harm human health.The levels of air pollution had the most significant influence on the surface compositions of aerosol particles in our study.Hence,heavier air pollution was associated with more complex surface compositions on aerosol particles.In addition,wind,rainfall,and air masses from the south also greatly influenced the surface compositions of these urban aerosol particles.Zhengzheng Zhang Hong Li Hongyan Liu Runxiang Ni Jinjuan Li Liqun Deng Defeng Lu Xueli Cheng Pengli Duan Wenjun Li 2016Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,9:5
9Performance of N95 elastomeric respirators in high humidity and high coal dust concentration environment显示文摘High humidity and high dust concentration in deep coal mines may severely challenge the performance of respirators worn by coal miners.This paper aims at quantitatively evaluating the respirators used in deep coal mines and providing scientific guidance for the respiratory protection of miners.Based on the self-designed in-situ PM2.5 collector,controllable PM2.5 generator,human breathing simulator,and respirator simulation testing system,under the simulated deep mine working condition,this study investigated the effects of dust loading,wearing time,and dust concentration on the filtration efficiency,breathing resistance,and quality factor of N95 elastomeric respirators.With the increase of dust loading,the respirator filtration efficiency firstly decreased,then increased(minimum value 97.5%).The breathing resistance increased exponentially from 120 to 180 to 1020-1530 Pa,and the quality factor decreased logarithmically from 0.051 to 0.076 to 0.0058-0.0085 Pa^(-1).As the PM2.5 coal dust concentration increased from 5 to 50 mg/m^(3),the wearing time for the respirator breathing resistance to exceed 300 Pa reduced from 7 h to less than 1 h.One N95 elastomeric respirator is not able to perform an 8-h work shift.To avoid the excessive breathing resistance caused by dust loading,more filter cartridges are needed for coal miners.Jintuo Zhu Xinjian He Liang Wang Xiaoxue Liao Guangping Teng Pengli Jing 2022International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2022,32,1:4
10Highly sensitive flexible capacitive pressure sensor with a broad linear response range and finite element analysis of micro-array electrode显示文摘With the continuous development of wearable electronics,health care and smart terminals,highly performance flexible pressure sensors present a huge application prospect.In this study,by introducing the micro-array structured electrodes and dielectric layers with high dielectric constant,capacitive pressure sensor fabricated with a brand new preparation strategy and highly sensitive is proposed.The prepared micro-array structure is the basis for sensors with high sensitivity.Besides,the contact area between the two electrodes changes from linear to planar with the increased loading,which result in a wider linear responding range.In addition,by introducing ceramic dielectric material-barium titanate(BT)fillers into the dielectric layer to increase it’s the dielectric constant,the sensitivity of the sensor shows two-fold increase.Moreover,the sensitivity gradients can be tuned by changing the loading contents of BT particles.Hence,compared with parallel board capacitive sensors with ordinary dielectric layer,these sensors exhibit excellent performance as follow,high sensitivity(up to 4.9 kPa^(-1))under low pressure range(0-2500 Pa),low detection limit(<1.7 Pa),short response time(<50 ms),a stable response over 5000 loading-unloading cycles,bending stability and an adjustable sensitivity.Further,the flexible pressure sensor can detect the pressure of the water droplets and monitor human movement behavior.With the facile design and excellent comprehensive properties,the flexible pressure sensor provides a new approach to improve the sensitivity and shows a broad application prospects in the wearable electronics,health care and smart terminals.Longquan Ma Xuecheng Yu Yuanyuan Yang Yougen Hu Xinyu Zhang Huayuan Li Xing Ouyang Pengli Zhu Rong Sun Ching-ping Wong 2020Journal of Materiomics2020,6,2:4

We establish the relationship between the Hausdorff centered measure of this set and the maximum centered density of the corresponding self similar measure. From this relationship, the Hausdorff centered measure of certain sets is obtained. In particular, we consider the linear iterated function system consisting of three maps with the same contraction ratios. 12Tailorable,Lightweight and Superelastic Liquid Metal Monoliths for Multifunctional Electromagnetic Interference Shielding显示文摘Liquid metal(LM)has become an emerging material paradigm in the electromagnetic interference shielding field owing to its excellent electrical conductivity.However,the processing of lightweight bulk LM composites with finite package without leakage is still a great challenge,due to high surface tension and pump-out issues of LM.Here,a novel confined thermal expansion strategy based on expandable microsphere(EM)is proposed to develop a new class of LM-based monoliths with 3D continuous conductive network.The EM/LM monolith(EM/LMm)presents outstanding performance of lightweight like metallic aerogel(0.104 g cm^(-1)),high strength(3.43 MPa),super elasticity(90%strain),as well as excellent tailor ability and recyclability,rely on its unique gas-filled closed-cellular structure and refined LM network.Moreover,the assembled highly conducting EM/LMm exhibits a recorded shielding effectiveness(98.7 dB)over a broad frequency range of 8.2-40 GHz among reported LM-based composites at an ultra-low content of LM,and demonstrates excellent electromagnetic sealing capacity in practical electronics.The ternary EM/LM/Ni monoliths fabricated by the same approach could be promising universal design principles for multifunctional LM composites,and applicable in magnetic responsive actuator.Yadong Xu Zhiqiang Lin Krishnamoorthy Rajavel Tao Zhao Pengli Zhu Yougen Hu Rong Sun Ching-Ping Wong 2022Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,2:3
13NLRP3 inflammasome activation determines the fibrogenic potential of PM_(2.5) air pollution particles in the lung显示文摘Airborne fine particulate matter(PM_(2.5))is known to cause respiratory inflammation such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and lung fibrosis.NLRP3 inflammasome activation has been implicated in these diseases;however,due to the complexity in PM_(2.5)compositions,it is difficult to differentiate the roles of the components in triggering this pathway.We collected eight real-life PM_(2.5)samples for a comparative analysis of their effects on NLRP3 inflammasome activation and lung fibrosis.In vitro assays showed that although the PM_(2.5)particles did not induce significant cytotoxicity at the dose range of 12.5to 100μg/m L,they induced potent TNF-αand IL-1βproduction in PMA differentiated THP-1 human macrophages and TGF-β1 production in BEAS-2B human bronchial epithelial cells.At the dose of 100μg/m L,PM_(2.5)induced NLRP3 inflammasome activation by inducing lysosomal damage and cathepsin B release,leading to IL-1βproduction.This was confirmed by using NLRP3-and ASC-deficient cells as well as a cathepsin B inhibitor,ca-074 ME.Administration of PM_(2.5)via oropharyngeal aspiration at 2 mg/kg induced significant TGF-β1 production in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and collagen deposition in the lung at 21days post-exposure,suggesting PM_(2.5)has the potential to induce pulmonary fibrosis.The ranking of in vitro IL-1βproduction correlates well with the in vivo total cell count,TGF-β1 production,and collagen deposition.In summary,we demonstrate that the PM_(2.5)is capable of inducing NLRP3 inflammasome activation,which triggers a series of cellular responses in the lung to induce fibrosis.Wei Cao Xiang Wang Jiulong Li Ming Yan Chong Hyun Chang Joshua Kim Jinhong Jiang Yu-Pei Liao Shannon Tseng Sydney Kusumoputro Candice Lau Marissa Huang Pengli Han Pengju Lu Tian Xia 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,1:3
14Neuroprotective effects of Ginkgo biloba dropping pills in Parkinson's disease显示文摘Parkinson's disease(PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease in the world;however,it lacks effective and safe treatments. Ginkgo biloba dropping pill(GBDP), a unique Chinese G. biloba leaf extract preparation, exhibits antioxidant and neuroprotective effects and has a potential as an alternative therapy for PD. Thus, the aims of this study were to evaluate the effects of GBDP in in vitro and in vivo PD models and to compare the chemical constituents and pharmacological activities of GBDP and the G. biloba extract EGb 761. Using liquid chromatography tandem-mass spectrometry, 46 GBDP constituents were identified. Principal component analysis identified differences in the chemical profiles of GBDP and EGb 761. A quantitative analysis of 12 constituents showed that GBDP had higher levels of several flavonoids and terpene trilactones than EGb 761, whereas EGb 761 had higher levels of organic acids.Moreover, we found that GBDP prevented 6-hydroxydopamine-induced dopaminergic neuron loss in zebrafish and improved cognitive impairment and neuronal damage in methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine-induced PD mice. Although similar effects were observed after EGb 761 treatment,the neuroprotective effects were greater after GBDP treatment on several endpoints. 15Plant buffering against the high-light stress- induced accumulation of CsGA2ox8 transcripts via alter native splici ng to fi n ely tune gibberelli n levels and maintain hypocotyl elongation显示文摘In plants,alternative splicing(AS)is markedly induced in response to environmental stresses,but it is unclear why plants generate multiple transcripts under stress conditions.In this study,RNA-seq was performed to identify AS events in cucumber seedlings grown under different light intensities.We identi fi ed a novel transcript of the gibberellin(GA)-deactivating enzyme Gibberellin 2-beta-dioxygenase 8(CsGA2ox8).Compared with canonical CsGA2ox8.1,the CsGA2ox8.2 isoform presented intron retention between the second and third exons.Functional analysis proved that the transcript of CsGA2ox8.1 but not CsGA2ox8.2 played a role in the deactivation of bioactive GAs.Moreover,expression analysis demonstrated that both transcripts were upregulated by increased light intensity,but the expression level of CsGA2ox8.1 increased slowly when the light intensity was>400μmol-m-2-s-1 PPFD(photosynthetic photon fl ux density),while the CsGA2ox8.2 transcript levels increased rapidly when the light intensity was>200 pmol-m-2-s-1 PPFD.Our fi ndings provide evidence that plants might fi nely tune their GA levels by buffering against the normal transcripts of CsGA2ox8 through AS.Bin Liu Shuo Zhao Pengli Li Yilu Yin Qingliang Niu Jinqiang Yan Danfeng Huang 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:2
16A Constant Potential Molecular Dynamics Simulation Study of the Atomic-Scale Structure of Water Surfaces Near Electrodes显示文摘Summary of main observation and conclusion Novel and technologically important processes and phenomena arise at water surfaces in the presence of electric fields.However,experimental measurements on water surfaces are challenging,and the results are scarce and inconclusive.In this work,the constant potential molecular dynamics method,in which the electrode charges are allowed to fluctuate to keep the electric potential fixed,was implemented in the study of a near-electrode water surface systems.This simulation system was set up with a vapor/liquid-water/vapor slab and two electrodes under different sets of applied electrostatic potential,yielding i)a detailed characterization of the external E-field dependent electrostatic potential/density/dipole moment density profiles,and ii)the relationship between the water surface width and the applied electrode voltage differences which has been rarely reported.The adjustments in the number density profiles in the vicinity of water surfaces due to external E-fields were observed,while the capillary interfacial widths for the surfaces near both cathode and anode were found with different increment rates under increasing E-fields.By examining dipole density profiles across the water surfaces,we found that external E-field induced polarization occurs in both bulk and surface regimes,yet the surface polarization densities vary asymmetrically with respect to the increasing E-fields.Detailed discussions were carried out to explain the correlation between water surface tension and surface widths,as well as the interplay between the surface polarization densities and the hydrogen bond network structure.We conclude that the mechanical and structural properties of the water surfaces could be tuned by both magnitude and direction of the strong external E-fields.We also recognize that more surface properties with application value,such as dielectric permittivity tensor or surface potential,could also be regulated by the external E-fields.Pengli Yang Zhenxing Wang Zun Liang Hongtao Liang Yang Yang 2019Chinese Journal of Chemistry2019,37,12:2
17TOF–SIMS surface analysis of chemical components of size–fractioned urban aerosols in a typical heavy air pollution event in Beijing显示文摘Size–fractioned atmospheric aerosol particles were collected during a typical heavy air pollution event in Beijing. The organic and inorganic components on the surfaces of the samples were analyzed using time–of–flight secondary ion mass spectrometry(TOF–SIMS).The variation characteristics of the surface chemical composition and influencing factors were studied, and the possible sources of these chemical compositions were identified through principal component analysis. The results showed that inorganic components such as crustal elements and sulfate, and organic components such as aliphatic hydrocarbons and oxygen–containing organic groups were present. Some surface components, such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, heavy metals and fluorides may exert adverse effects on human health. The species and relative percentages of the chemical components varied with particle size, diurnal and pollution progress. During a heavy pollution event, the species and relative percentages of secondary components such as oxygen–containing organic groups and sulfurous compounds increased, indicating that particles aged during this event. 19Self-cleaning of superhydrophobic nanostructured surfaces at low humidity enhanced by vertical electric field显示文摘Self-cleaning is the key factor that makes superhydrophobic nanostructured materials have wide applications.The self-cleaning effect,however,strongly depends on formations and movement of water droplets on superhydrophobic nanostructured surfaces,which is greatly restricted at low humidity(<7.6 g·kg^(-1)).Therefore,we propose a self-cleaning method at low humidity in which the pollution is electro-aggregated and driven in the electric field to achieve the aggregation and cleaning large areas.The cleaning efficiency of this method is much higher than that of water droplet roll-off,and will not produce'pollution bands'.A simplified numerical model describing pollution movements is presented.Simulation results are consistent with experimental results.The proposed method realizes the self-cleaning of superhydrophobic nanostructured surfaces above dew point curve for the first time,which extends applications of superhydrophobic nanostructured materials in low humidity,and is expected to solve self-cleaning problems of outdoor objects in low humidity areas(<5.0 g·kg^(-1)).Yijie Liu Yujun Guo Xueqin Zhang Guoqiang Gao Chaoqun Shi Guizao Huang Pengli Li Qi Kang Xingyi Huang Guangning Wu 2022Nano Research2022,15,5:1
