| 1 | Enhancement of Fenton oxidation for removing organic matter from hypersaline solution by accelerating ferric system with hydroxylamine hydrochloride and benzoquinone显示文摘Fenton oxidation is generally inhibited in the presence of a high concentration of chloride ions.This study investigated the feasibility of using benzoquinone(BQ) and hydroxylamine hydrochloride(HA) as Fenton enhancers for the removal of glycerin from saline water under ambient temperature by accelerating the ferric system.It was found that organics removal was not obviously affected by chloride ions of low concentration(less than 0.1 mol/L),while the mineralization rate was strongly inhibited in the presence of a large amount of chloride ions.In addition,ferric hydrolysis-precipitation was significantly alleviated in the presence of HA and BQ,and HA was more effective in reducing ferric ions into ferrous ions than HA,while the H_2O_2 decomposition rate was higher in the BQ-Fenton system.Electron spin resonance analysis revealed that OH production was reduced in high salinity conditions,while it was enhanced after the addition of HA and BQ(especially HA).This study provided a possible solution to control and alleviate the inhibitory effect of chloride ions on the Fenton process for organics removal. | Siwei Peng Weijun Zhang Jie He Xiaofang Yang Dongsheng Wang Guisheng Zeng | 2016 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,3: | 10 |
| 2 | Spectroscopic study on transformations of dissolved organic matter in coal-to-liquids wastewater under integrated chemical oxidation and biological treatment process显示文摘A large amount of wastewater containing various toxic organic contaminants is produced during coal-to-liquids process. In this study, several spectroscopic methods were used to monitor the transformation of organic pollutants during an integrated chemical oxidation and biological process. The results showed that the hydrophobic acid fraction increased after Fenton oxidation, which was likely due to the production of small-molecule organic acids. Soluble microbial products were generated during biological treatment processes,which were degraded after ozonation; meanwhile, the hydrophilic base and acid components increased. Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopic analysis indicated that peaks at the absorption wavelengths of 280 and 254 nm, which are associated with aromatic substances, were detected in the raw water. The aromatic substances were gradually removed, becoming undetectable after biological aeration filter(BAF) treatment. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis revealed that the functional groups of phenols;benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene(BTEX); aromatic hydrocarbons; aliphatic acids;aldehydes; and esters were present in raw wastewater. The organic substances were oxidized into small molecules after Fenton treatment. Aromatic hydrocarbons were effectively removed through bioadsorption and biodegradation after BAF process.Biodegradable organic matter was reduced and finally became undetectable after anoxic–oxic treatment in combination with a membrane bioreactor. Four fluorescent components were fractionated and obtained via excitation–emission matrix parallel factor analysis(EEM-PARAFAC). | 3 | Stratigraphy of the Triassic-Jurassic Boundary Successions of the Southern Margin of the Junggar Basin,Northwestern China显示文摘The Triassic-Jurassic(Tr-J) boundary marks a major extinction event,which(~200 Ma) resulted in global extinctions of fauna and flora both in the marine and terrestrial realms.There prevail great challenges in determining the exact location of the terrestrial Tr-J boundary,because of endemism of taxa and the scarcity of fossils in terrestrial settings leading to difficulties in linking marine and terrestrial sedimentary successions.Investigation based on palynology and bivalves has been carried out over a 1113 m thick section,which is subdivided into 132 beds,along the Haojiagou valley on the southern margin of the Junggar Basin of the northern Xinjiang,northwestern China.The terrestrial Lower Jurassic is conformably resting on the Upper Triassic strata.The Upper Triassic covers the Huangshanjie Formation overlaid by the Haojiagou Formation,while the Lower Jurassic comprises the Badaowan Formation followed by the Sangonghe Formation.Fifty six pollen and spore taxa and one algal taxon were identified from the sediments.Based on the key-species and abundance of spores and pollen,three zones were erected:the Late Triassic(Rhaetian) Aratrisporites-Alisporites Assemblage,the Early Jurassic(Hettangian) Perinopollenites-Pinuspollenites Assemblage,and the Sinemurian Perinopollenites-Cycadopites Assemblage.The Tr-J boundary is placed between bed 44 and 45 coincident with the boundary between the Haojiagou and Badaowan formations.Beds with Ferganoconcha(?),Unio-Ferganoconcha and Waagenoperna-Yananoconcha bivalve assemblages are recognized.The Ferganoconcha(?) bed is limited to the upper Haojiagou Formation, Unio-Ferganoconcha and Waagenoperna-Yananoconcha assemblages are present in the middle and upper members of the Badaowan Formation.The sedimentary succession is interpreted as terrestrial with two mainly lake deposit intervals within Haojiagou and Badaowan formations,yielding fresh water algae and bivalves.However,the presence of brackish water algae Tasmanites and the marine-littoral facies bivalve Waagenoperna from the Badaowan Formation indicate that the Junggar Basin was influenced by sea water caused by transgressions from the northern Tethys,during the Sinemurian. | SHA Jingeng Vivi VAJDA PAN Yanhong Linda LARSSON YAO Xiaogang ZHANG Xiaolin WANG Yaqiong CHENG Xiansheng JIANG Baoyu DENG Shenghui CHEN Siwei PENG Bo | 2011 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2011,85,2: | 7 |
| 4 | Geochronology and Petrochemistry of Volcanic Rocks in the Xaignabouli Area, NW Laos显示文摘An integrated study of zircon U-Pb geochronology and petrochemistry, together with zircon Lu-Hf isotopes, has been carried out on the basaltic-andesitic tuff and volcanic breccia from the Nam Hang Formation and andesitic tuff from the Muang-Nan Formation in the Xaignabouli area, which had been mapped as the Permian–Early Triassic on the 1 : 1 000 000 geological map or Late Carboniferous on the 1 : 200 000 geological maps. Zircon U-Pb dating of three samples yielded weighted mean ages of 235±2.6, 232±1.4 and 278±2.8 Ma, respectively, suggesting a Late Triassic origin for the Nam Hang Formation and an Early Permian origin for the Muang-Nan Formation. Geochemically, they are characterized by depletions in HFSEs(e.g., Nb, Ta, Ti) and high LILE/HFSE ratios, and they have positive zircon ε_(Hf)(t) values of 8.7–15.9, which exhibits the continental arc volcanic affinity and partial melting of subducting oceanic slab in the magma source. Combined with spatial occurrence of the volcanic rock and existing geochronological and geochemical data, we suggest that the Xaignabouli-Luang Prabang volcanic belt can be linked to the Loei-Phetchabun belt. | 5 | Trends in Incidence Rates,Mortality Rates,and Age-Period-Cohort Effects of Cervical Cancer—China,2003–2017显示文摘Introduction:This study reported the trends and analyzed the age-period-cohort effects on the incidence and mortality rates of cervical cancer in China.Methods:The age-standardized incidence rate(ASIR)and mortality rate(ASMR)by Segi’s world standard population were calculated using qualified consecutive data from 22 cancer registries from 2003 to 2017 in China.We performed joinpoint analysis to describe the trends and age-period-cohort analysis to estimate the independent effects of age,period and cohort on trends in incidence and mortality rates of cervical cancer.Results:The ASIR and ASMR for cervical cancer in females over 20 years old increased during 2003−2017.For females<50 years,a decreasing trend in ASIR and a stable trend in ASMR were observed in urban areas after 2009.But the ASIR and ASMR kept increasing in rural areas during the whole period.For females>50 years,the ASIR and ASMR increased both in urban and rural areas.Age-period-cohort analysis showed increasing period effects on cervical cancer incidence and mortality during the whole period.The cohort effects exhibited a downward-upwarddownward pattern for the incidence(1918–1938,1938–1963,1963–1993)and mortality rates(1918–1943,1943–1963,1963–1993)in urban areas,a fluctuating pattern for incidence rate and a continuing downward pattern for mortality rate(1918–1993)in rural areas.Conclusions:The increases in cervical cancer incidence and mortality rates can be mostly explained by period effects.We observed decreases in risk for cervical cancer incidence and mortality in young female generations,which were more obvious in urban areas. | Kexin Sun Rongshou Zheng Lin Lei Siwei Zhang Hongmei Zeng Shaoming Wang Li Li Ru Chen Bingfeng Han Ji Peng Wenqiang Wei Jie He | 2022 | China CDC weekly2022,4,48: | 4 |

| 8 | Trends in Incidence Rates,Mortality Rates,and Age-Period-Cohort Effects of Female Breast Cancer—China,2003-2017显示文摘Introduction:This study reported the trends in female breast cancer incidence and mortality rates in China,and analyzed the corresponding age-periodcohort effects.Methods:Data from 22 population-based cancer registries in China between 2003 and 2017 were analyzed.Age-standardized incidence rates(ASIR)and mortality rates(ASMR)were calculated using Segi’s world standard population.Joinpoint regression was employed to evaluate trends,and age-period-cohort effects were examined using the intrinsic estimator method.Results:The ASIR for female breast cancer exhibited a more rapid increase in rural areas compared to urban areas across all age groups.The most substantial increase was observed in the 20-34 age group in rural areas[annual percent change(APC)=9.0%,95%confidence interval(CI):7.0%-11.0%,P<0.001].The ASMR for females under 50 years old remained stable from 2003 to 2017 in both urban and rural areas.However,the ASMR for females over 50 in rural areas and those over 65 in urban areas demonstrated a significant increase,with the most pronounced increase observed among females over 65 in rural areas(APC=4.9%,95%CI:2.8%-7.0%,P<0.001).Age-period-cohort analysis revealed increasing period effects and decreasing cohort effects for female breast cancer incidence and mortality rates in both urban and rural settings.Notably,the cohort effect for incidence displayed a slight upward trend for females born between 1983 and 1992 in rural areas.Conclusions:Our study revealed a rapid increase in breast cancer incidence among younger generations and an accelerated mortality rate in older populations residing in rural areas.To effectively address the growing burden of female breast cancer in China,it is essential to develop and implement targeted intervention strategies. | Kexin Sun Lin Lei Rongshou Zheng Siwei Zhang Hongmei Zeng Shaoming Wang Li Li Ru Chen Bingfeng Han Ji Peng Wenqiang Wei Jie He | 2023 | China CDC weekly2023,5,15: | 1 |

| 14 | Berberine alleviates non-alcoholic hepatic steatosis partially by promoting SIRT1 deacetylation of CPT1A in mice显示文摘Background:Berberine effectively alleviates non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).Nevertheless,the mechanism is incompletely comprehended.It has been reported that SIRT1 mediates lipid metabolism in liver and berberine promotes the expression of SIRT1 in hepatocytes.We hypothesized that SIRT1 mediated the effect of berberine on NAFLD.Methods:The effects of berberine on NAFLD were evaluated in C57BL/6J mice fed a high-fat diet(HFD)and in mouse primary hepatocytes and cell lines exposed to palmitate.The change of fatty acid oxidation(FAO)and the activity of CPT1A were observed in HepG2 cells.Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blot were employed to observe the expression of SIRT1 and lipid metabolism-related molecules.The interaction between SIRT1 and CPT1A was investigated by using co-immunoprecipitation assay in HEK293T cells.Results:Berberine treatment attenuated hepatic steatosis,reduced triglyceride(190.1611.2 lmol/g liver vs 113.667.6 lmol/g liver,P<0.001)and cholesterol(11.362.5 lmol/g liver vs 6.360.4 lmol/g liver,P<0.001)concentration in the liver,and improved lipid and glucose metabolism disorders compared with the HFD group.The expression of SIRT1 was reduced in the liver of NAFLD patients and mouse models.Berberine increased the expression of SIRT1 and promoted the protein level of CPT1A and its activity in HepG2 cells.SIRT1 overexpression mimicked the effect of berberine on reducing triglyceride levels in HepG2 cells,whereas SIRT1 knock-down attenuated the effect of berberine.Mechanistically,berberine increased the expression of SIRT1.SIRT1 deacetylated CPT1A at the Lys675 site,which suppressed its ubiquitin-dependent degradation,thereby promoting FAO and alleviating non-alcoholic liver steatosis.Conclusions:Berberine promoted SIRT1 deacetylation of CPT1A at the Lys675 site,which reduced the ubiquitin-dependent degradation of CPT1A and ameliorated non-alcoholic liver steatosis. | Peng Wang Ruikai Li Yuqi Li Siwei Tan Jie Jiang Huiling Liu Xiuqing Wei | 2023 | Gastroenterology Report2023,11,1: | 0 |

| 16 | Mechanism of N-to-S acyl transfer of N-(2-hydroxybenzyl) cysteine derivatives and origin of phenol acceleration effect显示文摘N-(2-Hydroxybenzyl)cysteine derivatives were recently disclosed to be efficient crypto-thioesters for native chemical ligation(NCL). To elucidate the mechanism of the relevant N-to-S acyl transfer process as well as the origin of the acceleration effect of the phenol substitutes, a density functional theory(DFT)study was performed. It was found that the N-to-S acyl transfer of N-(2-hydroxybenzyl)cysteine derivatives involve four major steps: concerted nucleophilic addition of thiolate/proton transfer,inversion of an amine moiety, water-assisted proton transfer and CààN bond cleavage. The phenol substitutes promote the nucleophilic addition of thiolate by protonating the carbonyl oxygen atom synergistically and the proton transfer from hydroxyl to amide nitrogen atom is the rate-determining step of the N-to-S acyl transfer. By contrast, changing the phenolic hydroxyl to methoxyl was found to significantly slow down the nucleophilic addition of thiolate and thus hinders the N-to-S acyl transfer overall.
