| 1 | Atmospheric HULIS and its ability to mediate the reactive oxygen species (ROS): A review显示文摘Atmospheric humic-like substances(HULIS) are not only an unresolved mixture of macroorganic compounds but also powerful chelating agents in atmospheric particulate matters(PMs); impacting on both the properties of aerosol particles and health effects by generating reactive oxygen species(ROS). Currently, the interests of HULIS are intensively shifting to the investigations of HULIS-metal synergic effects and kinetics modeling studies, as well as the development of HULIS quantification, findings of possible HULIS sources and generation of ROS from HULIS. In light of HULIS studies, we comprehensively review the current knowledge of isolation and physicochemical characterization of HULIS from atmospheric samples as well as HULIS properties(hygroscopic, surface activity, and colloidal) and possible sources of HULIS.This review mainly highlights the generation of reactive oxygen species(ROS) from PMs, HULIS and transition metals, especially iron. This review also summarized the mechanism of ironorganic complexation and recent findings of OH formation from HULIS-metal complexes. | 2 | Nanofiltration for drinking water treatment: a review显示文摘In recent decades,nanofiltration(NF)is considered as a promising separation technique to produce drinking water from different types of water source.In this paper,we comprehensively reviewed the progress of NFbased drinking water treatment,through summarizing the development of materials/fabrication and applications of NF membranes in various scenarios including surface water treatment,groundwater treatment,water reuse,brackish water treatment,and point of use applications.We not only summarized the removal of target major pollutants(e.g.,hardness,pathogen,and natural organic matter),but also paid attention to the removal of micropollutants of major concern(e.g.,disinfection byproducts,per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances,and arsenic).We highlighted that,for different applications,fit-for-purpose design is needed to improve the separation capability for target compounds of NF membranes in addition to their removal of salts.Outlook and perspectives on membrane fouling control,chlorine resistance,integrity,and selectivity are also discussed to provide potential insights for future development of high-efficiency NF membranes for stable and reliable drinking water treatment. | Hao Guo Xianhui Li Wulin Yang Zhikan Yao Ying Mei Lu Elfa Peng Zhe Yang Senlin Shao Chuyang Y.Tang | 2022 | Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2022,16,5: | 1 |

| 6 | Composition and distribution of fish species collectedduring the fourth Chinese National Arctic Research Ex-pedition in 2010显示文摘There are awareness and concerns caused by the decreasing sea ice coverage around the Arctic and Antarctic due toeffects of climate change. Emphasis in this study was on rapid changes in Arctic sea ice coverage and its impacts on the marineecology during the fourth Chinese National Arctic Research Expedition in 2010. Our purpose was to establish a baseline of Arcticfish compositions, and consequent effects of climate change on the fish community and biogeography. Fish specimens were col-lected using a multinet middle-water trawl, French-type beam trawl, otter trawl, and triangular bottom trawl. In total, 36 tows werecarried out along the shelf of the Bering Sea, Bering Strait, and Chukchi Sea in the Arctic Ocean. In total, 41 fish species belongingto 14 families in 7 orders were collected during the expedition. Among them, the Scorpaeniformes, including 17 species, accountedfor almost one third of the total number (34.8%), followed by 14 species of the Perciformes (27.0%), 5 species of the Pleuronecti-formes (22.3%), and 2 species of the Gadiformes (15.4%). The top 6 most abundant species were Hippoglossoides robustus, Bore-gadus saida, Myoxocephalus scorpius, Lumpenus fabricii, Artediellus scaber, and Gymnocanthus tricuspis. Abundant species var-ied according to the different fishing methods; numbers of families and species recorded did not differ with the various fishingmethods; species and abundances decreased with depth and latitude; and species extending over their known geographic rangeswere observed during the expedition. | 8 | Study on smoke propagation in tunnel construction of a hydropower station: A full-scale fire experiment显示文摘In this study,full-scale fire experiments were conducted in a hydropower station to investigate smoke propagation during tunnel construction.The flame height,smoke temperature and stratification,smoke descent and spread velocity were analyzed via measurements and on-site observations.The initial combustion stage was largely affected by ignition source during tunnel construction for diesel pool fire,and the average flame height in the fully developed stage could reach 1.4-2.1 m in experimental fire scenarios.The gradient of the smoke temperature evolution near the fire was the opposite for the upstream and downstream regions.The longitudinal temperature distribution was concentrated in a small range at the heights of the smoke layer,and gradually decreased by air entrainment as the height decreased,while further increasing in the lower half of the tunnel height in the near-fire region under heat radiation from the fire source.Moreover,distinct and stable smoke stratification formed during the fully developed combustion stage,and the smoke layer interface was at approximately half the tunnel height.Smoke descent was aggravated in the decay stage of combustion,and the fire risk remained high after the fully developed period.The smoke front spread velocity was empirically determined for the full-scale tunnel fire scenarios.Conclusions from full-scale experiments can support smoke control design and on-site fire emergency response plans for hydropower stations. | Chang Liu Huihang Cheng Wenjun Nie Senlin Jiang Junfeng Chen Peng Lin Maohua Zhong | 2023 | Journal of Safety Science and Resilience2023,4,2: | 0 |
| 9 | Improving luminescence and thermometric performance of Ba_(2)CaWO_(6):Er^(3+) by tri-doping with Yb^(3+) and Na^(+)显示文摘The Er3+doped double perovskite Ba_(2)CaWO_(6) crystal is a promising ratiometric thermometer based on the fluorescence intensity ratio(FIR) of transitions from ^(2)H_(11/2) and ^(4)S_(3/2) to the lowered ^(4)I_(15/2) level.However,the Ca^(2+) vacancy defect caused by the charge difference between rare-earth ions and the substituted alkaline-earth ions gives rise to the non-radiative probability and limits the thermal sensitivity.Here,the up-conversion luminescence and thermometric performance of Er^(3+),Yb^(3+) dopedBa_(2)CaWO_(6) are tuned by tri-doping with alkaline ions.The Ca^(2+) vacancy defect can be eliminated by the introduction of Na^(+),which occupies the Ca^(2+) site when it is doped into Ba_(2)CaWO_(6) with Er^(3+) and Yb^(3+).On the contrary,the doping of Cs^(+) into Ba_(2)CaWO_(6) with Er^(3+) and Yb^(3+) enhances the defect concentration because it occupies the site of Ba^(2+).Thus,the tri-doping of Na^(+) reduces the non-radiative probability and enhances the quantum efficiency of Er^(3+),leading to the improvement of the thermometric sensitivity of Ba_(2)CaWO_(6).As a result,we get an excellent thermometric Ba_(2)CaWO_(6):8%Yb^(3+),3.5%Er^(3+),6%Na^(+) powder with a luminescence lifetime of 515 μs and maximum thermal sensitivity(S_(r)) of 1.45%/K,which is more than three times higher than that of the BCWO:Er^(3+) powder. | Lingyun Li Ziwei Zhou Fazheng Huang Senlin Peng Yantang Huang Guoqiang Wang Xinxu Li Fei-Fei Chen Chengkai Yang Xin-Xiong Li Yan Yu | 2023 | Journal of Rare Earths2023,41,1: | 0 |
| 10 | Identification of COL3A1 variants associated with sporadic thoracic aortic dissection: a case-control study显示文摘Thoracic aortic dissection(TAD)without familial clustering or syndromic features is known as sporadic TAD(STAD).So far,the genetic basis of STAD remains unknown.Whole exome sequencing was performed in 223 STAD patients and 414 healthy controls from the Chinese Han population(N=637).After population structure and genetic relationship and ancestry analyses,we used the optimal sequence kernel association test to identify the candidate genes or variants of STAD.We found that COL3A1 was significantly relevant to STAD(P=7.35×10^(−6))after 10000 times permutation test(P=2.49×10^(−3)).Moreover,another independent cohort,including 423 cases and 734 non-STAD subjects(N=1157),replicated our results(P=0.021).Further bioinformatics analysis showed that COL3A1 was highly expressed in dissected aortic tissues,and its expression was related to the extracellular matrix(ECM)pathway.Our study identified a profile of known heritable TAD genes in the Chinese STAD population and found that COL3A1 could increase the risk of STAD through the ECM pathway.We wanted to expand the knowledge of the genetic basis and pathology of STAD,which may further help in providing better genetic counseling to the patients. | Yanghui Chen Yang Sun Zongzhe Li Chenze Li Lei Xiao Jiaqi Dai Shiyang Li Hao Liu Dong Hu Dongyang Wu Senlin Hu Bo Yu Peng Chen Ping Xu Wei Kong Dao Wen Wang | 2021 | Frontiers of Medicine2021,15,3: | 0 |
