4Energy harvesting textiles for a rainy day:woven piezoelectrics based on melt-spun PVDF microfibres with a conducting core显示文摘Recent advances in ubiquitous low-power electronics call for the development of light-weight and flexible energy sources.The textile format is highly attractive for unobtrusive harvesting of energy from e.g.,biomechanical movements.Here,we report the manufacture and characterisation of fully textile piezoelectric generators that can operate under wet conditions.We use a weaving loom to realise textile bands with yarns of melt-spun piezoelectric microfibres,that consist of a conducting core surrounded byβ-phase poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF),in the warp direction.The core-sheath constitution of the piezoelectric microfibres results in a—for electronic textiles—unique architecture.The inner electrode is fully shielded from the outer electrode(made up of conducting yarns that are integrated in the weft direction)which prevents shorting under wet conditions.As a result,and in contrast to other energy harvesting textiles,we are able to demonstrate piezoelectric fabrics that do not only continue to function when in contact with water,but show enhanced performance.The piezoelectric bands generate an output of several volts at strains below one percent.We show that integration into the shoulder strap of a laptop case permits the continuous generation of four microwatts of power during a brisk walk.This promising performance,combined with the fact that our solution uses scalable materials and well-established industrial manufacturing methods,opens up the possibility to develop wearable electronics that are powered by piezoelectric textiles.Anja Lund Karin Rundqvist Erik Nilsson Liyang Yu Bengt Hagstrom Christian Muller 2018npj Flexible Electronics2018,2,1:10

6Morphological and functional evaluation of chronic pancreatitis with magnetic resonance imaging显示文摘Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)techniques for assessment of morphology and function of the pancreas have been improved dramatically the recent years and MRI is very often used in diagnosing and follow-up of chronic pancreatitis(CP)patients.Standard MRI including fat-suppressed T1-weighted and T2-weighted imaging techniques reveal decreased signal and glandular atrophy of the pancreas in CP.In contrast-enhanced MRI of the pancreas in CP the pancreatic signal is usually reduced and delayed due to decreased perfusion as a result of chronic inflammation and fibrosis.Thus,morphological changes of the ductal system can be assessed by magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography(MRCP).Furthermore,secretin-stimulated MRCP is a valuable technique to evaluate side branch pathology and the exocrine function of the pancreas and diffusion weighted imaging can be used to quantify both parenchymal fibrotic changes and the exocrine function of the pancreas.These standard and advanced MRI techniques are supplementary techniques to reveal morphological and functional changes of the pancreas in CP.Recently,spectroscopy has been used for assessment of metabolite concentrations in-vivo in different tissues and may have the potential to offer better tissue characterization of the pancreas.Hence,the purpose of the present review is to provide an update on standard and advanced MRI techniques of the pancreas in CP.Tine Maria Hansen Matias Nilsson Mikkel Gram Jens Brφndum Frφkjr 2013World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,42:7

12Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease-a chronic disease of the 21^(st) century显示文摘Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) comprises a spectrum of metabolic states ranging from simple steatosis to inflammation with associated fibrosis to cirrhosis. Though accumulation of hepatic fat is not associated with a significant increase in mortality rates, hepatic inflammation is, as this augments the risk of terminal liver disease, i.e.,cirrhosis, hepatic decompensation(liver failure) and/or hepatocellular carcinoma. Disease progression is usually slow, over a decade or more and, for the most part, remains asymptomatic. Recent estimates suggest that the global prevalence of NAFLD is high, about one in four. In most cases, NAFLD overlaps with overweight, obesity,cardiovascular disease and the metabolic syndrome with numerous contributing parameters including a dysregulation of adipose tissue, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, changes in the gut microbiome, neuronal and hormonal dysregulation and metabolic stress. NAFLD is diagnosed incidentally, despite its high prevalence. Non-invasive imaging techniques have emerged, making it possible to determine degree of steatosis as well asfibrosis. Despite this,the benefit of routine diagnostics remains uncertain. A better understanding of the(molecular) pathogenesis of NAFLD is needed combined with long-term studies where benefits of treatment can be assessed to determine costbenefit ratios. 13Static/dynamic friction and wear of some selected polymeric materials for conformal tribo-pairs under boundary lubrication conditions显示文摘This work is aimed at investigating the friction and wear performance of different polymeric materials having potential for hydraulic system components under lubricated sliding conditions against a steel counter face.A pin-on-disc test configuration was used for the experimental study.The different polymeric materials selected for these studies were commercial polyimides(PI),polyether ether ketone(PEEK),and flouropolymers.Some of these materials were bulk materials whereas others were used as coatings applied on to the cast iron substrate.The tribological characteristics of the polymers were compared with a reference grey cast iron.The frictional characteristics were evaluated in both static and dynamic conditions.The results have shown that by using polymeric materials it is possible to reduce breakaway friction by an order of magnitude compared to grey cast iron.However,the breakaway friction increased significantly after the wear tests.The polymeric materials having lowest breakaway friction have shown the highest wear with the exception of the PEEK-PTFE coating which showed low wear.PI with graphite fillers also showed low wear but it resulted in relatively high friction.The carbon fibre reinforced materials resulted in unstable friction as well as higher wear compared to the PI materials with graphite fillers.Daniel NILSSON Braham PRAKASH 2013Friction2013,1,3:4

16Mapping aboveground biomass and its prediction uncertainty using LiDAR and field data, accounting for tree-level allometric and LiDAR model errors显示文摘Background: The increasing availability of remotely sensed data has recently challenged the traditional way of performing forest inventories, and induced an interest in model-based inference. Like traditional design-based inference, model-based inference allows for regional estimates of totals and means, but in addition for wall-to-wall mapping of forest characteristics. Recently Light Detection and Ranging(LiDAR)-based maps of forest attributes have been developed in many countries and been well received by users due to their accurate spatial representation of forest resources. However, the correspondence between such mapping and model-based inference is seldom appreciated. In this study we applied hierarchical model-based inference to produce aboveground biomass maps as well as maps of the corresponding prediction uncertainties with the same spatial resolution. Further, an estimator of mean biomass at regional level, and its uncertainty, was developed to demonstrate how mapping and regional level assessment can be combined within the framework of model-based inference.Results: Through a new version of hierarchical model-based estimation, allowing models to be nonlinear, we accounted for uncertainties in both the individual tree-level biomass models and the models linking plot level biomass predictions with LiDAR metrics. In a 5005 km2 large study area in south-central Sweden the predicted aboveground biomass at the level of 18 m×18 m map units was found to range between 9 and 447 Mg·ha^-1. The corresponding root mean square errors ranged between 10 and 162 Mg·ha^-1. For the entire study region, the mean aboveground biomass was 55 Mg·ha^-1 and the corresponding relative root mean square error 8%. At this level 75%of the mean square error was due to the uncertainty associated with tree-level models.Conclusions: Through the proposed method it is possible to link mapping and estimation within the framework of model-based inference. Uncertainties in both tree-level biomass models and models linking plot level biomass with LiDAR data are accounted for, both for the uncertainty maps and the overall estimates.
