Culturable plant pathogenic fungi associated with sugarcane in southern China显示文摘Sugarcane(Saccharum officinarum)is one of the oldest crops cultivated by mankind.Numerous fungal taxa have been reported from this host, although most were not identified beyond genus level. In this study,we explored 31 sampling sites in Guangxi and Guangdong Provinces(China),and collected 370 diseased samples from leaves and roots of sugarcane, from which 762 strains were isolated. Our preliminary analysis based on internal transcribed spacer(ITS)sequences suggested that these isolates belonged to 143 species in 51 genera, but we could not assign 129 strains.Bipolaris,Chaetomium,Curvularia,Phoma and Nigrospora represented the top five most common genera identified, while 27 rare genera comprised only one identified species. In this study,we chose above mentioned common genera for in-depth morphological observations and multi-locus analyses,in order to identify these strains to species level. In this paper,we described one new genus,32 new species, and reported 19 new records for China and the asexual morph of Chaetomium olivaceum.Hitherto, this is the most comprehensive study with molecular identification and illustration of fungi associated with sugarcane, which greatly improves our understanding of culturable mycota associated with this host. | Mubashar Raza Zhi-Feng Zhang Kevin D.Hyde Yong-Zhao Diao Lei Cai | 2019 | Fungal Diversity2019,,6: | 4
Fighting against fall armyworm by using multiple genes pyramiding and silencing(MGPS) technology显示文摘The pest Fall Armyworm(FAW),Spodoptera frugiperda belonging to the order Lepidoptera,is one of the most devastating insect pests resulting in severe economic losses to maize, rice, wheat, cotton and soybean in South America,Africa and Asia.It consists of two morphologically indistinguishable strains:the“corn strain”feeding mainly on maize, cotton and sorghum;the“rice strain”mostly feeding on rice and various grasses(Gouin et al.,2017).Adults of FAW have strong migration ability to fly 100 km per night. In 2018 it was detected in India and then spreads to Bangladesh,Thailand,Myanmar, and China in 2019(http://gffzz7e8ce5e2b4d84f4ehnbxq50bf60pf69wo.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/fall-armyworm/en/).It is a polyphagous lepidopteran herbivore, attacks more than 350 plant species, and causes destructive damage to many economically important crops. The FAW causes up to 30%-60% yield losses. | Maozhi Ren Muhammad Mubashar Zafar Huijuan Mo Zhaoen Yang Fuguang Li | 2019 | Science China(Life Sciences)2019,62,12: | 3
The numbers of fungi:contributions from traditional taxonomic studies and challenges of metabarcoding显示文摘The global diversity of fungi has been estimated using several different approaches. There is somewhere between 2–11 million estimated species, but the number of formally described taxa is around 150,000,a tiny fraction of the total. In this paper,we examine 12 ascomycete genera as case studies to establish trends in fungal species descriptions, and introduce new species in each genus. To highlight the importance of traditional morpho-molecular methods in publishing new species,we introduce novel taxa in 12 genera that are considered to have low species discovery. We discuss whether the species are likely to be rare or due to a lack of extensive sampling and classification. The genera are Apiospora,Bambusicola,Beltrania,Capronia,Distoseptispora,Endocalyx,Neocatenulostroma,Neodeightonia,Paraconiothyrium,Peroneutypa,Phaeoacremonium and Vanakripa. We discuss host-specificity in selected genera and compare the number of species epithets in each genus with the number of ITS(barcode)sequences deposited in GenBank and UNITE.We furthermore discuss the relationship between the divergence times of these genera with those of their hosts. We hypothesize whether there might be more species in these genera and discuss hosts and habitats that should be investigated for novel species discovery. | Chayanard Phukhamsakda Rolf Henrik Nilsson Chitrabhanu S.Bhunjun Antonio Roberto Gomes de Farias Ya-Ru Sun Subodini N.Wijesinghe Mubashar Raza Dan-Feng Bao Li Lu Saowaluck Tibpromma Wei Dong Danushka S.Tennakoon Xing-Guo Tian Yin-Ru Xiong Samantha C.Karunarathna Lei Cai Zong-Long Luo Yong Wang Ishara S.Manawasinghe Erio Camporesi Paul M.Kirk Itthayakorn Promputtha Chang-Hsin Kuo Hong-Yan Su Mingkwan Doilom Yu Li Yong-Ping Fu Kevin D.Hyde | 2022 | Fungal Diversity2022,,3: | 1
Culturable mycobiota from Karst caves in China II,with descriptions of 33 new species显示文摘Karst caves are characterized by darkness, low temperature, high humidity, and oligotrophic organisms due to its relatively closed and strongly zonal environments.Up to now,1626 species in 644 genera of fungi have been reported from caves and mines worldwide. In this study,we investigated the culturable mycobiota in karst caves in southwest China. In total,251 samples from thirteen caves were collected and 2344 fungal strains were isolated using dilution plate method.Preliminary ITS analyses showed that these strains belonged to 610 species in 253 genera.Among these species,88.0%belonged to Ascomy-cota,8.0%Basidiomycota,1.9%Mortierellomycota,1.9%Mucoromycota,and 0.2%Glomeromycota.The majority of these species have been previously known from other environments, and some of them are known as mycorrhizal or pathogenic fungi.About 52.8%of these species were discovered for the first time in karst caves.Based on morphological and phyloge-netic distinctions,33 new species were identified and described in this paper.Meanwhile, one new genus of Cordycipitaceae,Gamszarea, and five new combinations are established. This work further demonstrated that Karst caves encompass a high fungal diversity, including a number of previously unknown species.Taxonomic novelties:New genus:Gamszarea Z.F.Zhang&L.Cai;Novel species:Amphichorda cavernicola,Aspergillus limoniformis,Aspergillus phialiformis,Aspergillus phialosimplex,Auxarthron chinense,Auxarthron guangxiense,Auxarthronopsis globiasca,Auxarthronopsis pedicellaris,Auxarthronopsis pulverea,Auxarthronopsis stercicola,Chrysosporium pallidum,Gamszarea humicola,Gamszarea lunata,Gamszarea microspora,Gymnoascus flavus,Jattaea reniformis,Lecanicillium magnisporum,Microascus collaris,Microas-cus levis,Microascus sparsimycelialis,Microascus superficialis,Microascus trigonus,Nigrospora globosa,Paracremonium apiculatum,Paracremonium ellipsoideum,Paraphaeosphaeria hydei,Pseudoscopulariopsis asperispora,Setophaeosphaeria microspora,Simplicillium album,Simplicillium humicola,Wardomycopsis dolichi,Wardomycopsis ellipsoconidiophora,Wardomycopsis fusca;New combinations:Gamszarea indonesiaca(Kurihara&Sukarno)Z.F.Zhang&L.Cai,Gamszarea kalimantanensis(Kurihara&Sukarno)Z.F.Zhang&L.Cai,Gamszarea restricta(Hubka,Kubátová,Nonaka,Čmoková&Řehulka)Z.F.Zhang&L.Cai,Gamszarea testudinea(Hubka,Kubátová,Nonaka,Čmoková&Řehulka)Z.F.Zhang&L.Cai,Gamszarea wallacei(H.C.Evans)Z.F.Zhang&L.Cai. | Zhi-Feng Zhang Shi-Yue Zhou Lily Eurwilaichitr Supawadee Ingsriswang Mubashar Raza Qian Chen Peng Zhao Fang Liu Lei Cai | 2021 | Fungal Diversity2021,,1: | 1

Genetic variability for yield and fiber related traits in genetically modified cotton显示文摘Background:Cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.)is grown for fiber and oil purposes in tropical and sub-tropical areas of the world.Pakistan is the 4th largest producer of cotton. It has a significant contribution in the GDP of Pakistan. Therefore, the present study was performed to assess the genetic variations and genetic diversity of yield and fiber quality traits in cotton and to analyze the associations present among them. Results:Analysis of variance exhibited significant variation for all studied traits except total number of nodes and the height to node ratio. The phenotypic coefficient of variation was higher than the genotypic coefficient of variation for all studied traits.Plant height, monopodial branches, total number of bolls, lint index, seed index, and seed cotton yield displayed high heritabilities in a broad sense with maximum genetic advanee.Correlation analysis revealed that seed cotton yield had a significant positive association with plant height, the nu mber of monopodial branches, the nu mber of sympodia I branches, ginning outturn(GOT),the number of bolls, seed per boll, seed index, uniformity index, the number of sympodial branches, reflectance, and seed index at the genotypic level while a significant positive relationship was observed with plant height, the number of sympodial branches, boll number, and GOT.Plant height, monopodial branches,GOT,boll weight, seeds per boll, and short fiber index exerted direct positive effects on seed cotton yield. The first 6 principal component analysis(PCs)out of the total fourteen PCs displayed eigenvalues(>1)and had maximum share to total variability(82.79%).The attributes that had maximum share to total divergence in eluded plant height, uniformity index, the nu mber of sympodial branches, seed per boll,GOT,seed cotton yield, and short fiber index. Conclusion:The genotype AA-802,IUB-13,FH-159,FH-458,and CIM-595 were genetically diverse for most of the yield and fiber quality traits and could be utilized for the selection of better performing genotypes for further improvement. | SAHAR Adeela ZAFAR Muhammad Mubashar RAZZAQ Abdul MANAN Abdul HAROON Muhammad SAJID Sunaina REHMAN Abdul MO Huijuan ASHRAF Muhammad REN Maozhi SHAKEEL Amir YUAN Youlu | 2021 | Journal of Cotton Research2021,4,3: | 1
Cotton germplasm improvement and progress in Pakistan显示文摘Cotton(Gossypium spp.)contributes significantly to the economy of cotton-producing countries.Pakistan is the fourth-largest producer of cotton after China, the USA and India. The average yield of cotton is about 570.99 kg.hm^(−2) in Pakistan.Climate change and different biotic stresses are causing reduction in cotton production.Transgenic approaches have unique advantage to tackle all these problems. However, how to confer permanent resistance in cotton against insects through genetic modification,is still a big challenge to address.Development of transgenic cotton has been proven to be effective. But its effectiveness depends upon several factors, including heterogeneity, seed purity, diffusion of varieties, backcrossing and ethical concerns.Cotton biotechnology was initiated in Pakistan in 1992–1993 with a focus on acquiring cotton leaf curl virus(CLCuV)-resistant insect-resistant,and improving fiber quality. This review summarizes the use of molecular markers,QTLs,GWAS,and gene cloning for cotton germplasm improvement, particularly in Pakistan. | RAZZAQ Abdul ZAFAR Muhammad Mubashar ALI Arfan HAFEEZ Abdul BATOOL Wajeeha SHI Yuzhen GONG Wankui YUAN Youlu | 2021 | Journal of Cotton Research2021,4,1: | 1

Numerical Computational Heuristic Through Morlet Wavelet Neural Network for Solving the Dynamics of Nonlinear SITR COVID-19显示文摘The present investigations are associated with designing Morlet wavelet neural network(MWNN)for solving a class of susceptible, infected, treatment and recovered(SITR)fractal systems of COVID-19 propagation and control. The structure of an error function is accessible using the SITR differential form and its initial conditions. The optimization is performed using the MWNN together with the global as well as local search heuristics of genetic algorithm(GA)and active-set algorithm(ASA),i.e.,MWNN-GA-ASA.The detail of each class of the SITR nonlinear COVID-19 system is also discussed. The obtained outcomes of the SITR system are compared with the Runge-Kutta results to check the perfection of the designed method. The statistical analysis is performed using different measures for 30 independent runs as well as 15 variables to authenticate the consistency of the proposed method. The plots of the absolute error, convergence analysis, histogram, performancemeasures, and boxplots are also provided to find the exactness, dependability and stability of the MWNN-GA-ASA. | Zulqurnain Sabir Abeer S.Alnahdi Mdi Begum Jeelani Mohamed A.Abdelkawy Muhammad Asif Zahoor Raja Dumitru Baleanu Muhammad Mubashar Hussain | 2022 | Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2022,,5: | 0
Analysis of the Smart Player’s Impact on the Success of a Team Empowered with Machine LeAnalysis of the Smart Player’s Impact on the Success of a Team Empowered with Machine Learningarning显示文摘The innovation and development in data science have an impact in all trades of life. The commercialization of sport has encouraged players, coaches, and other concerns to use technology to be in better position than r their opponents. In the past, the focus was on improved training techniques for better physical performance. These days, sports analytics identify the patterns in the performance and highlight strengths and weaknesses of potential players.Sports analytics not only predict the performance of players in the near future but it also performs predictive modeling for a particular behavior of a player in the past. The impact of a smart player on the success of a team is always a big question mark before the start of a match. The fans always want to know performance analysis of these superstar players and they always are interested to get to know more about their favorite player and they always have high hopes from their favorite player.Machine learning(ML)based techniques help in predicting the performance of an individual player as well as for the whole team. The statistics are very vital and useful for management, fans, and expert analysis. In our proposed framework, the adaptive back propagation neural network(ABPNN)model is used for the prediction of a player’s performance. The data is collected from football websites, and the results are stored in the cloud for fast fetching of data. They can be retrieved anywhere in the world through cloud storage. The results are computed with 94%accuracy and the performance of the smart player is formulated for the success of a team. | Muhammad Adnan Khan Mubashar Habib Shazia Saqib Tahir Alyas Khalid Masood Khan Mohammed A.Al Ghamdi Sultan H.Almotiri | 2021 | Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,1: | 0
Joint Effect of East Asia-Pacific and Eurasian Teleconnections on the Summer Precipitation in North Asia显示文摘The East Asia-Pacific(EAP)and Eurasian(EU)teleconnections are independent of each other on the seasonal timescale(with a correlation coefficient of only 0.03).But they may occur concurrently with consistent or opposite phases. This paper investigates their synergistic effect on the summer precipitation in North Asia.Based on the signs/phases of EAP and EU indices, the EAP and EU teleconnection anomalies occur in four cases:(Ⅰ)positive EAP+positive EU,(Ⅱ)negative EAP+negative EU,(Ⅲ)positive EAP+negative EU,and(Ⅳ)negative EAP+positive EU.Further analyses show that these four configurations of EAP and EU anomalies are coherently related to different atmospheric circulations over the midlatitude Eurasian continent, leading to different summer precipitation modes in North Asia.CategoryⅠ(Ⅱ)corresponds to a zonal tripole structure of the geopotential height at 500 hPa over eastern Europe and the Sea of Japan, leading to less(more)than normal precipitation in eastern Europe,Japan, and the surrounding areas, and more(less)precipitation from central China to Lake Baikal and eastern Russia.CategoryⅢ(Ⅳ)corresponds to a meridional dipole structure of the geopotential height at 500 hPa over North Asia, leading to more(less)precipitation in the northern North Asia and less(more)precipitation in most of the southern North Asia.Independent analysis reveals that the EAP teleconnection itself is positively correlated with the precipitation in the region between the eastern part of Lake Baikal and Okhotsk Sea,and negatively correlated with the precipitation in the region between Northeast China and Japan.Coincidently, the EU pattern and precipitation have negative correlations in Ural Mountain and Okhotsk Sea areas and positive correlations in the Lake Baikal area. The respective relations of EAP and EU with the summer precipitation in North Asia suggest that the EAP northern lobe overlapped with the EU central and eastern lobes could extend the geopotential anomalies over Lake Baikal to Russian Far East, creating an EAP-EU synergistic effect on the summer precipitation in North Asia. | Po HU Guolin FENG Muhammad Mubashar DOGAR Jianbo CHENG Zhiqiang GONG | 2020 | Journal of Meteorological Research2020,34,3: | 0
