1Development of a new connection for precast concrete walls subjected to cyclic loading显示文摘The Industrialized Building System(IBS) was recently introduced to minimize the time and cost of project construction.Accordingly, ensuring the integration of the connection of precast components in IBS structures is an important factor that ensures stability of buildings subjected to dynamic loads from earthquakes, vehicles, and machineries.However, structural engineers still lack knowledge on the proper connection and detailed joints of IBS structure construction.Therefore, this study proposes a special precast concrete wall-to-wall connection system for dynamic loads that resists multidirectional imposed loads and reduces vibration effects(PI2014701723).This system is designed to connect two adjacent precast wall panels by using two steel U-shaped channels(i.e., male and female joints).During casting, each joint is adapted for incorporation into a respective wall panel after considering the following conditions: one side of the steel channel opens into the thickness face of the panel; a U-shaped rubber is implemented between the two channels to dissipate the vibration effect; and bolts and nuts are used to create an extension between the two U-shaped male and female steel channels.The developed finite element model of the precast wall is subjected to cyclic loads to evaluate the performance of the proposed connection during an imposed dynamic load.Connection performance is then compared with conventional connections based on the energy dissipation, stress, deformation, and concrete damage in the plastic range.The proposed precast connection is capable of exceeding the energy absorption of precast walls subjected to dynamic load, thereby improving its resistance behavior in all principal directions.Ramin Vaghei Farzad Hejazi Hafez Taheri Mohd Saleh Jaafar Farah Nora Aznieta Abdul Aziz 2017Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2017,16,1:8
2Risk modification of colorectal cancer susceptibility by interleukin-8-251T>A polymorphism in Malaysians显示文摘AIM: To investigate the allele and genotype frequencies and associated risk of interleukin (IL)-8-251T>A polymorphism on colorectal cancer (CRC) susceptibility risk. METHODS: Peripheral blood samples of 255 normal controls and 255 clinically and histopathologically confirmed CRC patients were genotyped for IL-8-251T>A polymorphism employing allele-specific polymerase chain reaction. The relative association of variant allele and genotypes with CRC susceptibility risk was determined by calculating the odds ratios (ORs). Corresponding χ 2 tests on the CRC patients and controls were carried out and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were determined using Fisher's exact test. The allele frequencies and its risk association were calculated using FAMHAP, haplotype association analysis software. RESULTS: On comparing the frequencies of genotypesof patients and controls, the homozygous variant AA was significantly higher in CRC patients (P = 0.002) compared to controls. Investigation on the association of the polymorphic genotypes with CRC susceptibility risk, showed that the homozygous variant IL-8 -251AA had a significantly increased risk with OR 3.600 (95% CI: 1.550-8.481, P = 0.001). In the case of allele frequencies, variant allele A of IL-8 -251 showed a significantly increased risk of CRC predisposition with OR 1.32 (95% CI: 1.03-1.69,P = 0.003). 4An assessment study of absorption effect:LED vs tungsten halogen lamp for noninvasive glucose detection显示文摘Noninvasive gluoose monitoring development is critical for diabetic patient continuous moni-toring.However,almost all the available devices are invasive and painful.Noninvasive methods such as using spectroscopy have shown some good results.Unfortunately,the drawback was that the tungsten halogen lamps 1usage that is impractical if applied on human skin.This paper compared the light emitting diode(LED)to traditional tungsten halogen lamps as light source for glucose detection where the type of light source plays an important role in achieving a good spectrum quality.Glucose concentration measurement has been developed as part of noninvasive technique using optical spectroscopy.Small change and overlapping in tungsten halogen results need to replace it with a more convenient light source such as LED.Based on the result obtained,the performance of LED for absorbance spectrum gives a signifcantly different and is directly proportional to the glucose concentration.The result shows a linear trend and scucssully detects lowest at 60 to 160 mg/dL glucose concentration.Nur Ain Mohd Aziz Norhana Arsad P.Susthitha Menon Sahbudin Shaari Zalhan Md Yusof Abdur Rehman Laili 2015Journal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences2015,8,2:2

16Classification of oil palm female inflorescences anthesis stages using machine learning approaches显示文摘Prediction of pollination stages in oil palm plantations is an important research area in precision agriculture.Oil palm is known as the most efficient commercial crop with the capacity to fulfill the growing global demand for vegetable oil consumption.However,oil palm production dependence on pollination is experiencing issues with decreasing the actual yield.Consequently,alternative methods in commercial plantations such as humanassisted pollination and recently Wireless Sensor Network(WSN)have been deployed despite their high economic costs due to labor requirements.Oil palm assisted pollination requires precision,inspection,traceability,and validation processes in the field.Currently,all these processes are performed by humans that can be associated with false assumptions,uncertainty,and pollination latency.Therefore,Machine Learning(ML)approaches as a subset of the Artificial Intelligence(AI)domain provides efficient,cost-effective,and non-destructive solutions to determine these reproductive stages for future autonomous pollination system.Our goal was to reduce the variability of worker’s performance in oil palms,using ML algorithms to make expert decisions and reduce the risk related to a transient workforce.This comparative empirical study examined and compared the performance of the Random Forest(RF)against k Nearest Neighbor(kNN)and Support Vector Machine(SVM)for classification of oil palm pre-anthesis and anthesis stages,dividing into four classes(1,2,3,and 4).These models were tested using thermal features(endogenous)individually and in combination with meteorological variables(exogenous).The performance of models is evaluated with specific measures of performance,such as overall user’s and producer’s accuracies and F-measure values derived from the confusion matrix.The results showed that the RF model produced better results with regard to average Fmeasure(88.6%,71.83%),producer’s accuracies(88.70%,71.35%),and user’s accuracies(88.27%,72.36%)on test sets using exogenous+exogenous and endogenous feature sets,respectively.Among the three classifiers tested with two datasets,the RF method outperforms the other two popular algorithms,i.e.,kNN and SVM with respect to accuracy and F-measure metrics.The results validated the significance of thermal parameters,provided valuable features to devise an intelligent pollination management system,and proved the feasibility of using the RF model for the classification of oil palms four stages of anthesis.Mamehgol Yousefi D.B A.S.Mohd Rafie Samsuzana Abd Aziz Syaril Azrad Mohamed Mazmira Mohd Masri Ahmad Shahi O.F.Marzuki 2021Information Processing in Agriculture2021,8,4:1
