Effectiveness of Inactivated COVID-19 Vaccines Against Symptomatic,Pneumonia, and Severe Disease Caused by the Delta Variant:Real World Study and Evidence—China,2021显示文摘Summary What is already known about this topic?Effectiveness of China’s 2 inactivated vaccines(BBIBPCorV and CoronaVac)against pre-Delta severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2(SARS-CoV-2)variants ranged from 47%to over 90%,depending on the clinical endpoint, and with greater effectiveness against more severe coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).During an outbreak in Guangdong, inactivated vaccine effectiveness(VE)against the Delta variant was 70%for symptomatic infection and 100%for severe COVID-19.However,separate or combined VE estimates for the two inactivated vaccines against Delta are not available. What is added by this report? In an outbreak that started in a hospital,VEs of completed primary vaccination with inactivated COVID-19 vaccines against symptomatic COVID-19,COVID-19 pneumonia, and severe COVID-19 caused by the Delta variant were 51%,61%,and 82%.Completed primary vaccination reduced the risk of progressing from mild to moderate or severe COVID-19 by 74%.VE estimates for BBIBP-CorV and CoronaVac or combined vaccination were similar, and partial vaccination was ineffective. What are the implications for public health practice?Completed primary vaccination with either of the 2 inactivated COVID-19 vaccines reduces risk of symptomatic COVID-19,COVID-19 pneumonia, and severe COVID-19 caused by the Delta variant.Completion of the completed primary vaccination with two doses is necessary for protection from Delta. | Dan Wu Yanyang Zhang Lin Tang Fuzhen Wang Ying Ye Chao Ma Hui Zheng Wenzhou Yu Lei Cao Yifan Song Abuduwaili Reyimu Xiaoxiao Zhang Haifeng Wang Yifei Nie Mingxia Lu Muge Qi Jun Li Ruolin Wang Kaichao Yang Changshuang Wang Lawrence Everett Rodewald Geroge Fu Gao Zhijie An Zundong Yin | 2022 | China CDC weekly2022,4,4: | 7
Changes in T lymphocyte subsets after severe traumatic brain injury显示文摘BACKGROUND: Besides local changes of cranial parenchymal cells, hemorrhage, etc., severe traumatic brain injuries also cause the changes of total body fluid and various functions, and the changes of lymphocytes and T lymphocyte subsets should be paid more attention to. OBJECTIVE: To reveal the changing laws of T lymphocyte subsets after severe traumatic brain injury, and compare with mild to moderate brain injury. DESIGN: A comparative observation. SETTINGS: Department of Neurosurgery, Longgang District Buji People's Hospital of Shenzhen City; Central Laboratory of Shenzhen Hospital of Prevention and Cure for Chronic Disease. PARTICIPANTS: All the subjects were selected from the Department of Neurosurgery, Longgang District Buji People's Hospital of Shenzhen City from August 2002 to August 2005. Thirty patients with severe brain injury, whose Glasgow coma score (GCS) was ≤ 8 points, were taken as the experimental group, including 21 males and 9 females, aging 16–62 years. Meanwhile, 30 patients with mild traumatic brain injury were taken as the control group (GCS ranged 14–15 points), including 18 males and 12 females, aging 15–58 years. All the subjects were in admission at 6 hours after injury, without disease of major organs before injury. Informed consents were obtained from all the patients or their relatives. METHODS: ① The T lymphocytes and the subsets in peripheral blood were detected with immunofluorescent tricolor flow cytometry at 1, 3, 7 and 14 days after injury in both groups. ② The conditions of pulmonary infections were observed at 4 days after injury. The differences of measurement data were compared with the t test. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Changes of T lymphocytes subsets at 1–14 days after severe and mild or moderate traumatic injury. RESULTS: Finally, 28 and 25 patients with mild to moderate traumatic brain injury, whereas 25 and 21 patients with severe traumatic brain injury were analyzed at 7 and 14 days respectively, and the missed ones died due to the development of disease. ① Changes of T lymphocyte subsets: At 1 and 3 days after injury, CD3, CD4, CD8, CD4/CD8 began to decrease, whereas CD8 increased in the experimental group, which were very significantly different from those in the control group (t =2.77–3.26, P < 0.01), and began to recover at 7 days, which were significantly different from those in the control group (t = 2.06–2.24, P < 0.05), and generally recovered to the normal levels at 14 days (P > 0.05). ② Conditions of pulmonary infections: At 4 days after injury, the rate of pulmonary infection was significantly different between the experimental group and control group [73% (22/30), 0, χ2=37.29, P < 0.01]. CONCLUSION: Patients with severe traumatic brain injury suffer from damages of cellular immune function at early period (within 7 days), and they are easily to be accompanied by pulmonary infections. | Yulu Miao Mingxia Zhang Yulin Nie Wan Zhao Bin Huang Zhengming Jiang Shaoxiong Yu Zhibin Huang Hongjin Fu | 2007 | Neural Regeneration Research2007,2,2: | 7
A New Species of Japalura(Squamata, Agamidae) from the Nu River Valley in Southern Hengduan Mountains, Yunnan, China显示文摘A population of Japalura from Yunnan Province, China, previously assigned to Japalura splendida, is described as a new species. The new species has been recorded between 1 138–2 500 m in the Nu River drainage between the towns of Liuku and Binzhongluo, and on the lower western slopes of the Nushan and eastern slopes of the Goaligongshan. The new species can be distinguished from other species of Japalura, except J. dymondi, by the following combination of characters: exposed tympani, prominent dorso-lateral stripes, and small gular scales. It is very similar with but differs from J. dymondi by having smooth or feebly keeled dorsal head scales, three relatively enlarged spines on either side of the post-occiput area, strongly keeled and mucronate scales on occiput area and within the lateral stripes, back of arm and leg green, higher number of dorsal-ridge scales(DS) and fourth toe subdigital scales(T4S). A principal component analysis of body measurements of adult male specimens of the new species and J. dymondi showed principal component 1 loading highest for upper arm length, fourth toe length and snout to eye length and principal component 2 loading highest for head width, head length and fourth toe length. | Dingqi RAO Jens V.VINDUM Xiaohui MA Mingxia FU Jeffery A.WILKINSON | 2017 | Asian Herpetological Research2017,18,2: | 3
A novel extractant bis(2-ethylhexyl)((2-ethylhexylamino)methyl) phosphine oxide for cerium(Ⅳ) extraction and separation from sulfate medium显示文摘By introducing the amine group into phosphorus extractant,a novel aminophosphine compound bis(2-ethylhexyl)((2-ethylhexylamino)methyl) phosphine oxide(DEHAPO,abbreviated as A) was synthesized for the extraction of cerium(Ⅳ)(Ce(Ⅳ)) from sulfate medium(H2 SO4).The influence factors including extractant concentration,H2 SO4 concentration and temperature on the Ce(Ⅳ) extraction were investigated and discussed. It is found that the extraction ability of Ce(Ⅳ),thorium(Ⅳ)(Th(Ⅳ)) and rare earths(REs(Ⅲ))(La,Gd,Yb) decreases in sulphate medium in the following order:Ce(Ⅳ)> Th(Ⅳ)> REs(Ⅲ).The extraction process is an exothermic reaction and the thermodynamic parameters were calculated. The extracted complex of Ce(HSO4)2 SO4·A in loaded organic solution was identified by the slope methods and further proved by FT-IR spectral analysis.Stripping studies indicate that Ce(IV) can be effectively stripped from the organic phase. The results of separation factors(β) and saturation loading capacity demonstrate that DEHAPO could be used to selectively extract Ce(Ⅳ) from sulphate medium with high separation efficiency and good extraction ability. | Mingxia Huang Yongmei Fu Youcai Lu Wuping Liao Zhongjun Li | 2020 | Journal of Rare Earths2020,38,12: | 3
Separation of trivalent rare earths from nitrate medium using solvent extraction with a novel extractant 2-ethylhexyl((2-ethylhexylamino)methyl)phosphonic acid显示文摘By introducing the amine group into the structure of P227,a novel extractant 2-ethylhexyl((2-ethylhexylamino)methyl)phosphonic acid(EEAMPA,abbreviated as HA)was synthesized for the extraction and separation of trivalent rare earths(REs)from nitrate medium. The influence factors including extractant concentration, equilibrium time,HNO_(3)concentration,separation factors, cycle regeneration, stripping acidity, and actual leach liquor of metal ions, were studied systematically. The results show that the extraction ability of EEAMPA for REs decreases with increasing acidity.A possible extraction mechanism is proposed and the extracted species as REHA_(3)(NO_(3))are confirmed by the slope analysis method. The extraction equilibrium can reach faster than P227.It shows good chemical stability and cycling regeneration.Stripping studies show that HCl is an excellent stripping agent and REs can be effectively stripped from the organic phase. | Yongmei Fu Mingxia Huang Zhulin Zhou Zhongjun Li Wuping Liao Youcai Lu | 2022 | Journal of Rare Earths2022,40,3: | 1

Behavior of Phrynocephalus frontalis to Avoid Traps显示文摘Previous studies have shown that reptiles are capable of spatial learning and learn to locate important environmental resources so that they can return to those locations at a future time, when needed.Lizards improve their adaptability and survival by learning the position of their shelter in a complex environment. This behavior raises the question, whether lizards can sense danger, such as a trap,in their surroundings,by determining the location of the trap and avoiding it.In the present study,we used a pitfall trap to test if steppe toad-headed agama,Phrynocephalus frontalis, can learn to recognize the position of the trap and avoid it.Our results revealed that the percentage of activity time in the trap area was significantly reduced(P < 0.001) and the time of drop trap was also significantly reduced(P = 0.00631).The number of burrows dug by lizards distributed in the trap area was the least.Reduced activity time in the trap area was observed to have no obvious relationship with the drop in the number of burrows. The present study, therefore, demonstrates that P.frontalis are capable of learning the avoidance of a trap by locating its position. The findings offer significant insight in the understanding of reptilian behavior, which is important in the study of the role of reptiles in global ecology, especially because they are often very sensitive to environmental changes. | Mingxia FU Shaoyong CHEN Zhichao HE Zhiliang JIE Junhuai BI | 2017 | Asian Herpetological Research2017,18,1: | 0
Clinical features of 162 fatal cases of COVID-19:a multi-center retrospective study显示文摘Background:The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has affected approximately 2 million individuals worldwide;however, data regarding fatal cases have been limited. Objective:To report the clinical features of 162 fatal cases of COVID-19 from 5 hospitals in Wuhan between December 30,2019 and March 12,2020.Methods:The demographic data, signs and symptoms, clinical course, comorbidities, laboratory findings, computed tomographic(CT)scans, treatments, and complications of the patients with fatal cases were retrieved from electronic medical records. Results:The median patient age was 69.5(interquartile range:63.0–77.25)years,and 80%of the patients were over 61 years.A total of 112(69.1%)patients were men.Hypertension(45.1%)was the most common comorbidity, while 59(36.4%)patients had no comorbidity. At admission,131(81.9%)patients had severe or critical COVID-19,whereas 39(18.1%)patients with hypertension or chronic lung disease had moderate COVID-19.In total,126(77.8%)patients received antiviral treatment, while 132(81.5%)patients received glucocorticoid treatment.A total of 116(71.6%)patients were admitted to the intensive care unit(ICU),and 137(85.1%)patients received mechanical ventilation. Most patients received mechanical ventilation before ICU admission.Approximately 93.2%of the patients developed respiratory failure or acute respiratory distress syndrome. There were no significant differences in the inhospital survival time among the hospitals(P=0.14).Conclusion:Young patients with moderate COVID-19 without comorbidity at admission could also develop fatal outcomes. The in-hospital survival time of the fatal cases was similar among the hospitals of different levels in Wuhan. | Xianlong Zhou Guoyong Ding Qing Fang Jun Guo Luyu Yang Ping Wang Shou-Zhi Fu Ang Li Jian Xia Jiangtao Yu Jianyou Xia Min Ma Zhuanzhuan Hu Lei Huang Ruining Liu Cheng Jiang Shaoping Li Mingxia Yu Xizhu Xu Yan Zhao Quan Hu Weijia Xing Zhigang Zhao | 2022 | Emergency and Critical Care Medicine2022,2,3: | 0
