2Effects of electroacupuncture at Guanyuan(CV 4)or Sanyinjiao(SP 6)on hypothalamus-pituitary-ovary axis and spatial learning and memory in female SAMP8 mice显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of electroacupuncture(EA) at the Guanyuan(CV 4) or Sanyinjiao(SP 6) acupoints on the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovary(HPO) axis and spatial learning and memory in female mice.METHODS: Nine-month-old female mice with senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8(SAMP8)were divided into three groups: the disease model,EA-Guanyuan and EA-Sanyinjiao groups. Concurrently, 9-month old female mice with senescence-accelerated mouse resistance 1(SAMR1)were set as the control model group. The two treatment groups were given the same pattern of EA stimulation. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone, luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH) and Serum estradiol levels in the Hypothalamus-pituitary-ovary axis were assessed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay to determinethe HPO axis function level. Spatial learning and memory were assessed by the Morris Water Maze(MWM) test.RESULTS:(a) HPO axis: compared with the control model group, the disease model group displayed a decrease in E2 levels(P < 0.01), and an increase in Gn RH, LH and FSH levels(P < 0.01). E2 levels were increased in EA treatment groups compared with the disease model group(P < 0.05). In contrast,Gn RH and LH and FSH levels were reduced(P <0.05). EA-Sanyinjiao group was superior than EA-Guanyuan group on increasing E2 and declining Gn RH levels(P < 0.01).(b) The MWM test demonstrated that the response latency in the EA-Sanyinjiao treatment group declined from day 2 to day5 compared with the disease model group(P <0.05), whereas the EA-Guanyuan treatment group showed no significant difference.CONCLUSION: EA can regulate hormone(E2, FSH,LH, Gn RH) levels in the HPO axis and the spatial learning and memory ability in female SAMP8 mice. Moreover, this effect may have been more pronounced in the EA-Sanyinjiao group than the EA-Guanyuan group. 3The input/removal rates of size-fractionated ^210Po in the Jiulongjiang estuary and its implications显示文摘The geochemical behaviors of dissolved (<0.4 mm), low molecular weight (<10 kDa) and colloidal (10 kDa- 0.4 mm) 210Po in surface waters from the Jiulongjiang estuary were examined and the input/removal rates of different 210Po species were estimated. Both dissolved and low molecular weight 210Po were considerably removed during estuarine mixing. However, colloidal 210Po was removed only at low salinity regions (S <15) but had input behavior at high salin-ity surface waters (S >15). The input/removal rates of three species indicate that 210Po was removed rapidly in the Jiu-longjiang estuary. The discrepancy of input/removal rates between 210Po species suggests different geochemical be-havior and a dynamic transformation between 210Po species. 4Regional estimates of POC export flux derived from thorium-234 in the western Arctic Ocean显示文摘In order to elucidate the regional export variation of particulate organic carbon in the western Arctic Ocean, samples vertically integrated between 0 and 100 m depth or between 0 and 30 m/40 m depth were collected for total 234Th measurements and those from 30 m/40 m or 100 m depth were collected for particulate 234Th measurements during the Second Chinese Arctic Expedition in July-September 2003. The removal fluxes and residence time of 234Th in the upper water column were calculated by using irreversible steady-state scavenging model. The results showed that, total 234Th was deficit relative to its parent 238U in the western Arctic Ocean except in the western Chukchi shelf and the slope regions around 160°W, indicating that scavenging and removal processes play an important role in element biogeochemical cycle in the Arctic Ocean. In the western Chukchi shelf and the slope regions around 160°W, total 234Th was excess relative to 238U, ascribing to the horizontal input of 234Th adsorbed by ice-rafted sediments. Thorium-234 removal fluxes decreased from the shelf to the deep ocean, while the residence time of 234Th increased from shelf to offshore, demonstrating that particle scavenging and removal processes are more active in the shelf regions. The estimated POC export fluxes from 40 m in the shelf regions and from 100 m in the slope and deep ocean varied between 1.6 and 27.5 mmol/(m2·d), and between 1.8 and 14.4 mmol/(m2·d), respectively. The averaged POC export fluxes over the entire water column decreased from the shelf to the deep ocean, indicating that the Chukchi shelf is an important region for organic carbon sequestration. 5^(226)Ra evidence for the ecosystem shift over the past 40 years in the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre显示文摘Surface seawater was collected for ^(226)Ra measurement in the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre from July to October, 1999 and October to December, 2003. Combined with the historical data reported for this sea area, a declined trend of surface ^(226)Ra concentrations was observed since 1960s, indicating the ecosystem shift in response to global warming. On one side, the enhanced stratification of the upper water column resulting from global warming reduced the ^(226)Ra input from the depth, on the other, the temporal increase of biological production resulting from the climate-related ecosystem structure change strengthened the ^(226)Ra removal from the surface ocean. Both the physical and biological processes resulted in the decrease of surface ^(226)Ra concentrations in the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre. The temporal trend of surface ^(226)Ra concentrations was consistent with the trends of chlorophyll a, silicate, phosphate and primary production previously reported. 6Contrasting patterns of river runoff and sea-ice melted water in the Canada Basin显示文摘The fractions of river runoff and sea-ice melted water in the Canada Basin in summer 2003 were determined by the salinity-18O system. The fraction of river runoff(fR) was high in the upper 50 m of the water column and decreased with depth and latitude. The signals of the river runoff were confined to water depths above 200 m. The total amount of river runoff in the Canada Basin was higher than that in other arctic seas, indicating that the Canada Basin is a main storage region for river runoff. The penetration depth of the sea-ice melted water was less than 50 m to the south of 78°N, while it was about 150 m to the north of 78°N. The total amount of sea-ice melted water was much higher to the north of 78°N than to the south of 78°N, indicating the sea-ice melted waters accumulated on the ice edge. 7Ultrathin nanosheets of cobalt-nickel hydroxides hetero-structure via electrodeposition and precursor adjustment with excellent performance for supercapacitor显示文摘A homogeneous better-dispersed ultrathin nanosheets(ca. 5 nm) of cobalt-nickel layered double hydroxides(LDH) supported on nickel foam scaffold was synthesized using controllable electrodeposition approach for high efficiency electrode materials of new supercapacitor. The morphology and electrochemical performances of the samples can be controlled by adjusting the precursor ratio, i.e., Ni(OAc)_2/Co(NO_3)_2 molar ratio in the electrodeposition approach. With the increase of this molar ratio, the electrochemical performances give a volcano trend. When the optimized molar ratio is 0.64/0.36, the hybrid delivered a high specific capacitance of 1587.5 F g^(-1) at a current density of 0.5 A g^(-1), with good rate capability(1155 F g^(-1) was retained even at 10 A g^(-1)) and a robust recycle stability(remaining 91.5% after 1000 cycles at 5 A g^(-1)). The good performance could be attributed to the enlarged interlayer spacing, ultrathin nanosheets and synergistic effects between Co(OH)_2 and Ni(OH)_2. Furthermore, an asymmetric supercapacitor with a high energy density of 34.5 Wh kg^(-1) at 425 W kg^(-1) and excellent cycling stability of 85.4% after 5000 charge-discharge cycles at 2 A g^(-1) was fabricated. 8Efficacy of Rebixiao Chinese herbal tablets and Chinese formula granules in acute gout arthritis patients:a randomized,multicenter,double-blind,controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Rebixiao(RBX)Chinese herbal tablets(CHT)and Chinese formula granules(CFG)in the treatment of acute gout arthritis(AGA).METHODS:This randomized,multicenter,double-blind,controlled trial included 165 AGA patients with the damp-heat symptom pattern who were randomly divided into an RBX CHT group and an RBX CFG group and treated for 7 d at three centers.The total effective rates of the joint symptom score,Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)symptoms score,erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),and C-reactive protein(CRP)were used to evaluate the clinical efficacy.Safety assessments were also performed.RESULTS:Of the 165 enrolled patients,147 completed the clinical observation.There was no difference in baseline between the two groups.The total effective rates of the joint symptom score were 94.36%and 97.36%,and the total effective rates of the TCM symptoms score were 95.77%and 97.36%in the CFG group and CHT group,respectively.No statistical difference was found between the two groups(P>0.05).Additionally,ESR and CRP were similar in both groups(P>0.05).Furthermore,treatment efficacy regarding TCM and joint symptoms,the ESR,and CRP were consistent within each center and among the different centers(P>0.05).In addition,the incidence of adverse events was 4.22%and 2.63%in the CFG group and CHT group,respectively,and no difference was observed between the two groups(P>0.05).CONCLUSION:RBX CFG and CHT have significant and similar efficacy in the treatment of AGA,and CFG did not increase adverse side effects.Wang Shasha Zhang Ying Dai Min Yang Min Leng Wenfei Peng Xiufeng Li Guojun Yang Jinbing Gan Jianping Zhu Fenglin Li Yanping Wu Bin 2020Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,4:3

12Oxidized galectin-1 in SLE fails to bind the inhibitory receptor VSTM1 and increases reactive oxygen species levels in neutrophils显示文摘Inhibitory immune receptors set thresholds for immune cell activation,and their deficiency predisposes a person to autoimmune responses.However,the agonists of inhibitory immune receptors remain largely unknown,representing untapped sources of treatments for autoimmune diseases.Here,we show that V-set and transmembrane domain-containing 1(VSTM1)is an inhibitory receptor and that its binding by the competent ligand soluble galectin-1(Gal1)is essential for maintaining neutrophil viability mediated by downregulated reactive oxygen species production.However,in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE),circulating Gal1 is oxidized and cannot be recognized by VSTM1,leading to increased intracellular reactive oxygen species levels and reduced neutrophil viability.Dysregulated neutrophil function or death contributes significantly to the pathogenesis of SLE by providing danger molecules and autoantigens that drive the production of inflammatory cytokines and the activation of autoreactive lymphocytes.Interestingly,serum levels of glutathione,an antioxidant able to convert oxidized Gal1 to its reduced form,were negatively correlated with SLE disease activity.Taken together,our findings reveal failed inhibitory Gal1/VSTM1 pathway activation in patients with SLE and provide important insights for the development of effective targeted therapies.Xu Jiang Xinyue Xiao Hao Li Yiyi Gong Min Wang Huaxia Yang Lidan Zhao Ying Jiang Yanping Wei Chongchong Zhao Jin Li Yuling Chen Shan Feng Haiteng Deng Shiliang Ma Yue Xu Yudong Liu George C.Tsokos Minghong Jiang Xuan Zhan 2023Cellular & Molecular Immunology2023,20,11:1

14Trends of SARS-CoV-2 Infection in Rural Area in Sentinel Community-Based Surveillance——China,December 2022 to January 2023显示文摘Introduction:In late 2022,a rapid transmission of Omicron variants of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)occurred throughout China.The purpose of this study was to provide the latest data and evaluate trends of SARS-CoV-2 infection in rural China among the community population.Methods:Data on SARS-CoV-2 infection among approximately 90,000 participants in rural China were collected by the National Sentinel Community-Based Surveillance(NSCS)system.Participants were tested for SARS-CoV-2 infection(defined as positive for SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid or antigen)twice weekly from December 16,2022 to January 12,2023.The daily average of newly positive rate and its estimated daily percentage change were calculated to describe the national and regional trends of SARS-CoV-2 infection in rural China.Results:In rural China,the daily average new positive rate of SARS-CoV-2 infection peaked at 4.79%between December 20–22,2022 and then decreased to 0.57%between January 10–12,2023,with an average decrease of 29.95%per round.The peak of new SARS-CoV-2 infection was slightly earlier and lower in North China(5.28%between December 20–22,2022)than in South China(5.63%between December 23–26,2022),and then converged from December 30,2022 to January 2,2023.The peak of 6.09%occurred between December 20–22,2022 in eastern China,while the peak of 5.99%occurred later,between December 27–29,2022,in central China.Conclusions:Overall,the epidemic wave in rural China peaked between December 20–22,2022,and passed quickly following the optimization of prevention and control measures.Currently,SARSCoV-2 infection in community populations in rural China is sporadic.Wenzhan Jing Fan Ding Yanping Zhang Guoqing Shi Jue Liu Yu Wu Fangyuan Li Wenxin Yan Chenyuan Qin Min Liu Qun Li Wannian Liang 2023China CDC weekly2023,5,11:1

17The effect of increased atmospheric temperature and CO_2 concentration during crop growth on the chemical composition and in vitro rumen fermentation characteristics of wheat straw显示文摘This experiment was c onducted to investigate the effects of increased atmospheric temperature and CO_2concentration during crop growth on the chemical composition and in vitro rumen fermentation characteristics of wheat straw.The field experiment was carried out from November 2012 to June 2013 at Changshu(31°32'93 'N,120°41'88' E) agro-ecological experimental station.A total of three treatments were set.The concentration of CO_2was increased to 500 umol/mol in the first treatment(CO_2 group).The temperature was increased by 2 ℃ in the second treatment(TEM group) and the concentration of CO_2 and temperature were both increased in the third treatment(CO_2 + TEM group).The mean temperature and concentration of CO_2 in control group were 10.5 ℃ and413 umol/mol.At harvesting,the wheat straws were collected and analyzed for chemical composition and in vitro digestibility.Results showed that dry matter was significantly increased in all three treatments.Ether extracts and neutral detergent fiber were significantly increased in TEM and CO_2 + TEM groups.Crude protein was significantly decreased in CO_2 + TEM group.In vitro digestibility analysis of wheat straw revealed that gas production was significantly decreased in CO_2 and CO_2 + TEM groups.Methane production was significantly decreased in TEM and CO_2 + TEM groups.Ammonia nitrogen and microbial crude protein were significantly decreased in all three treatments.Total volatile fatty acids were significantly decreased in CO_2 and CO_2 + TEM groups.In conclusion,the chemical composition of the wheat straw was affected by temperature and CO_2 and the in vitro digestibility of wheat straw was reduced,especially in the combined treatment of temperature and CO_2.Xiangyu He Yanping Wu Min Cai Chunlong Mu Weihong Luo Yanfen Cheng Weiyun Zhu 2015Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2015,6,4:1

20Size-fractionated uranium isotopes in surface waters in the Jiulong Estuary in China显示文摘Surface water was collected from the Jiulong Estuary for determination of activity concentrations of uranium isotopes in different size fractions,namely,greater than 53,10~53,2~10,0.4~2 μm,10 000 u^0.4 μm and less than 10 000 u fractions by microfiltration and cross-flow ultrafiltration technologies. Results indicated that most of the dissolved uranium (<0.4 μm) existed in the low molecular mass fraction (<10 000 u),and the colloidal uranium-238 (10 000 u^0.4 μm) only contributed less than 1% of the dissolved uranium-238. The fractions of colloidal uranium in the dissolved phases decreased with the increasing salinity. A positive linear relationship between uranium-238 activities and salinities was observed for the dissolved,colloidal and low molecular mass fractions,indicating a conservative behavior of uranium in the Jiulong Estuary. In the particulate phases (>0.4 μm),the partitioning of uranium isotopes among different size fractions was controlled by the partitioning of particle concentrations. In the regions with salinities below 20,the partitioning of uranium-238 among different size fractions was as follows: 10~53 μm>2~10 μm>0.4~2 μm greater than above 53 μm. However,the order at the offshore station with salinities above 30 changed as follows: 0.4~2 μm>10~53 μm>2~10 μm greater than above 53 μm. The fraction of the 0.4~2 μm particles increased at the offshore station,suggesting the increased contribution of the authigenic uranium. The activity ratio of uranium-234 to uranium-238 in the dissolved phases,including the low molecular mass fraction and the colloidal fraction,was larger than unity,showing the occurrence of excess uranium-234. In contrast,the activity ratio of uranium-234 to uranium-238 in all size fractions of the particulate phase was close to the equilibrium value (1.0). The observed different values of the activity ratio of uranium-234 to uranium-238 in the dissolved phase and the particulate phase were ascribed to the preferential leaching of uranium-234 and the small amount of the leaching particulate uranium. The mass ratio of thorium-232 to uranium-238 also showed different values between the dissolved phase and the particulate phase.
