| 2 | Calibration of the HSPF model with a new coupled FTABLE generation method显示文摘The hydrological simulation program FORTRAN(HSPF) is a comprehensive watershed model designed to simulate water quantity and quality processes.It is used widely throughout the world.Calculating discharge from a stream reach by HSPF is based mainly on function tables(FTABLEs),which describe the relationship between surface area,stream stage,volume,and discharge.The traditional method of FTABLE generation(using general stream cross-sections and the Manning equation or other discharge relationships) can be time-consuming and inaccurate when there are limited calibration stations and survey data.Recent insights into generalized coupled stage/storage and stage/discharge relationships,however,offer the potential to improve both the speed and accuracy of compiling FTABLEs and thus HSPF models.This study tested the application of these insights in generating FTABLEs.The study domain included 18 gauging stations in a coastal plain environment on the Peace River watershed in West-Central Florida.In the calibration of this model, wetlands were treated as reaches in HSPF with storage-attenuation characteristics.Over the simulation period,the modeled daily flow and stage correlated well with observed data at all gauging stations along the Peace River.The Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency and correlation coefficient computed using observed and simulated daily flows were 0.90 and 0.91,respectively,at the Peace River outlet.Rigorous testing found that the new system for calibrating the FTABLEs improved the model predictive ability and efficiency.Uncertainty in un-calibrated station performance was also reduced.The model parameters obtained in this study could potentially serve as reference values for model application in similar climatic regions.They may also have particular relevance in disaster management,as the simulation period extended over the hurricane season of 2004,and the model domain was within a high hurricane impact zone.The possible effects of hurricanes on discharge are also briefly discussed. | Jing Zhang Mark Ross Ken Trout Demin Zhou | 2009 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2009,19,12: | 4 |

| 6 | Discretization Approach in Integrated Hydrologic Model for Surface and Groundwater Interaction显示文摘The commonly used discretization approaches for distributed hydrological models can be broadly categorized into four types,based on the nature of the discrete components:Regular Mesh,Triangular Irregular Networks(TINs),Representative Elementary Watershed(REWs) and Hydrologic Response Units(HRUs).In this paper,a new discretization approach for landforms that have similar hydrologic properties is developed and discussed here for the Integrated Hydrologic Model(IHM),a combining simulation of surface and groundwater processes,accounting for the interaction between the systems.The approach used in the IHM is to disaggregate basin parameters into discrete landforms that have similar hydrologic properties.These landforms may be impervious areas,related areas,areas with high or low clay or organic fractions,areas with significantly different depths-to-water-table,and areas with different types of land cover or different land uses.Incorporating discrete landforms within basins allows significant distributed parameter analysis,but requires an efficient computational structure.The IHM integration represents a new approach interpreting fluxes across the model interface and storages near the interface for transfer to the appropriate model component,accounting for the disparate discretization while rigidly maintaining mass conservation.The discretization approaches employed in IHM will provide some ideas and insights which are helpful to those researchers who have been working on the integrated models for surface-groundwater interaction. | ZHANG Jing Mark A ROSS Jeffery GEURINK | 2012 | Chinese Geographical Science2012,22,6: | 3 |
| 7 | Spontaneous intramural duodenal hematoma in type 2B von Willebrand disease显示文摘Intramural duodenal hematoma is a rare cause of a proximal gastrointestinal tract obstruction.Presentation of intramural duodenal hematoma most often occurs following blunt abdominal trauma in children,but spontaneous non-traumatic cases have been linked to anticoagulant therapy,pancreatitis,malignancy,vasculitis and endoscopy.We report an unusual case of spontaneous intramural duodenal hematoma presenting as an intestinal obstruction associated with acute pancreatitis in a patient with established von Willebrand disease,type 2B.The patient presented with abrupt onset of abdominal pain,nausea,and vomiting.Computed tomography imaging identified an intramural duodenal mass consistent with blood measuring 4.7 cm×8.7 cm in the second portion of the duodenum abutting on the head of the pancreas.Serum lipase was 3828 units/L.Patient was managed conservatively with bowel rest,continuous nasogastric decompression,total parenteral nutrition,recombinant factorⅧ(humateP)and transfusion.Symptoms resolved over the course of the hospitalization.This case highlights an important complication of an inherited coagulopathy. | Derrick D Eichele Meredith Ross Patrick Tang Grant F Hutchins Mark Mailliard | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,41: | 3 |

| 9 | Human-animal interactions and bat coronavirus spillover potential among rural residents in Southern China显示文摘Human interaction with animals has been implicated as a primary risk factor for several high impact zoonoses,including many bat-origin viral diseases.However the animal-to-human spillover events that lead to emerging diseases are rarely observed or clinically examined,and the link between specific interactions and spillover risk is poorly understood.To investigate this phenomenon,we conducted biological-behavioral surveillance among rural residents in Yunnan,Guangxi,and Guangdong districts of Southern China,where we have identified a number of SARS-related coronaviruses in bats.Serum samples were tested for four bat-borne coronaviruses using newly developed enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays(ELISA).Survey data were used to characterize associations between human-animal contact and bat coronavirus spillover risk.A total of 1,596 residents were enrolled in the study from 2015 to 2017.Nine participants(0.6%)tested positive for bat coronaviruses.265(17%)participants reported severe acute respiratory infections(SARI)and/or influenza-like illness(ILI)symptoms in the past year,which were associated with poultry,carnivore,rodent/shrew,or bat contact,with variability by family income and district of residence.This study provides serological evidence of bat coronavirus spillover in rural communities in Southern China.The low seroprevalence observed in this study suggests that bat coronavirus spillover is a rare event.Nonetheless,this study highlights associations between human-animal interaction and zoonotic spillover risk.These findings can be used to support targeted biological behavioral surveillance in high-risk geographic areas in order to reduce the risk of zoonotic disease emergence. | Li Hongying Mendelsohn Emma Zong Chen Zhang Wei Hagan Emily Wang Ning Li Shiyue Yan Hong Huang Huimin Zhu Guangjian Ross Noam Chmura Aleksei Terry Philip Fielder Mark Miller Maureen Shi Zhengli Daszak Peter | 2019 | Biosafety and Health2019,1,2: | 2 |
