2A novel procedure for pollen-based quantitative paleoclimate reconstructions and its application in China显示文摘Traditionally, the evaluation of pollen-based quantitative paleoclimate reconstructions focuses on the ability of calibration sets to infer present climatic conditions and/or the similarity between fossil and modern assemblages. Objective criteria for choosing the most appropriate climate parameter(s) to be reconstructed at a specific site are thus lacking. Using a novel approach for testing the statistical significance of a quantitative reconstruction using random environmental data, in combination with the advantageous large environmental gradients, abundant vegetation types and comprehensive modern pollen databases in China, we describe a new procedure for pollen-based quantitative paleoclimatic reconstructions. First, the most significant environmental variable controlling the fossil pollen assemblage changes is identified. Second, a calibration set to infer changes in this targeted variable is built up, by limiting the modern ranges of other environmental variables. Finally, the pollen-based quantitative reconstruction is obtained and its statistical significance assessed. This novel procedure was used to reconstruct the mean annual precipitation(Pann) from Gonghai Lake in the Lvliang Mountains, and Tianchi Lake in the Liupan Mountains, on the eastern and western fringe of the Chinese Loess Plateau, respectively. Both Pann reconstructions are statistically significant(p<0.001), and a sound and stable correlation relationship exists in their common period, showing a rapid precipitation decrease since 3300 cal yr BP. 3A novel functional electrical stimulation-control system for restoring motor function of post-stroke hemiplegic patients显示文摘Hemiparesis is one of the most common consequences of stroke. Advanced rehabilitation techniques are essential for restoring motor function in hemiplegic patients. Functional electrical stimulation applied to the affected limb based on myoelectric signal from the unaffected limb is a promising therapy for hemiplegia. In this study, we developed a prototype system for evaluating this novel functional electrical stimulation-control strategy. Based on surface electromyography and a vector machine model, a self-administered, multi-movement, force-modulation functional electrical stimulation-prototype system for hemiplegia was implemented. This paper discusses the hardware design, the algorithm of the system, and key points of the self-oscillation-prone system. 4Integrated proteomic and metabolomic analyses reveal the importance of aroma precursor accumulation and storage in methyl jasmonate-primed tea leaves显示文摘In response to preharvest priming with exogenous methyl jasmonate(MeJA),tea plants adjust their physiological behavior at the molecular level.The whole-organism reconfiguration of aroma formation from the precursor to storage is poorly understood.In this study,we performed iTRAQ proteomic analysis and identified 337,246,and 413 differentially expressed proteins in tea leaves primed with MeJA for 12 h,24h,and 48 h,respectively.Furthermore,a total of 266 nonvolatile and 100 volatile differential metabolites were identified by utilizing MS-based metabolomics.A novel approach that incorporated the integration of extended self-organizing map-based dimensionality was applied.The vivid time-scale changes tracing physiological responses in MeJA-primed tea leaves are marked in these maps.Jasmonates responded quickly to the activation of the jasmonic acid pathway in tea leaves,while hydroxyl and glycosyl jasmonates were biosynthesized simultaneously on a massive scale to compensate for the exhausted defense.The levels ofα-linolenic acid,geranyl diphosphate,farnesyl diphosphate,geranylgeranyl diphosphate,and phenylalanine,which are crucial aroma precursors,were found to be significantly changed in MeJA-primed tea leaves.Green leaf volatiles,volatile terpenoids,and volatile phenylpropanoids/benzenoids were spontaneously biosynthesized from responding precursors and subsequently converted to their corresponding glycosidic forms,which can be stably stored in tea leaves.This study elucidated the physiological response of tea leaves primed with exogenous methyl jasmonate and revealed the molecular basis of source and sink changes on tea aroma biosynthesis and catabolism in response to exogenous stimuli.The results significantly enhance our comprehensive understanding of tea plant responses to exogenous treatment and will lead to the development of promising biotechnologies to improve fresh tea leaf quality.Jiang Shi Jiatong Wang Haipeng Lv Qunhua Peng Monika Schreiner Susanne Baldermann Zhi Lin 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:2

8Oil Phase Molecular Compositions of Oily Sludge Using Mass Spectrometry显示文摘Oily sludge was recognized as a kind of hazardous wastes,so recycling its high content of petroleum hydrocarbons can contribute to the clean environment.In this study,oily sludge was subjected to continous ultrasonic extraction with an acetone/carbon disulfide(CS2)mixture solvent.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIRS),gas chromatography/mass spectrometry(GC/MS),and Quadrupole exactive Orbitrap mass spectrometry(QPEOTMS)were used to analyze the oil phase compounds from oily sludge.The n-alkanes ranging from C8 to C31 hydrocarbons were detected in oil phase.Compared with the analysis results of GC/MS,more heteroatom-containing compounds(HACOCs)of oil phase such as O3,O4,N2Oo and N3Oo(o=0—3)could be detected by using the QPEOTMS analysis.Overall,these findings will potentially contribute to the clean and efficient utilization of oily sludge.Hu Lin LV Haipeng Wang Guanghua Guo Xianhou 2020China Petroleum Processing & Petrochemical Technology2020,22,4:1

13Intratumoral Bacteria Dysbiosis Is Associated with Human Papillary Thyroid Cancer and Correlated with Oncogenic Signaling Pathways显示文摘Emerging evidence suggests that microbial dysbiosis plays vital roles in many human cancers.However,knowledge of whether the microbial community in thyroid tumor is related to tumorigenesis remains elusive.In this study,we aimed to explore the microbial community in thyroid tissues and its contribution to papillary thyroid cancer(PTC).In parallel,we performed microbial profiling and transcriptome sequencing in the tumor and adjacent normal tissues of a large cohort of 340 PTC and benign thyroid nodule(BTN)patients.Distinct microbial signatures were identified in PTC,BTN,and their adjacent nontumor tissues.Intra-thyroid tissue bacteria were verified by means of bacteria staining,fluorescence in situ hybridization,and immunoelectron microscopy.We found that 17 bacterial taxa were differentially abundant in PTC compared with BTN,which included enrichment in PTC of the pathobionts Rhodococcus,Neisseria,Streptococcus,Halomonas,and Devosia,and depletion of the beneficial bacteria Amycolatopsis.These differentially abundant bacteria could differentiate PTC tumor tissues(PTC-T)from BTN tissues(BTN-T)with an area under the curve(AUC)of 81.66%.Microbial network analysis showed increased correlation strengths among the bacterial taxa in PTC-T in comparison with BTN-T.Immunefunction-corresponding bacteria(i.e.,Erwinia,Bacillus,and Acinetobacter)were found to be enriched in PTC with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.Moreover,our integrative analysis revealed that the PTC-enriched bacteria had a positive association with key PTC-oncogenic pathway-related genes,including BRAF,KRAS,IRAK4,CTNNB1,PIK3CA,MAP3K7,and EGFR.In conclusion,our results suggest that intratumor bacteria dysbiosis is associated with the thyroid tumorigenesis and oncogenic signaling pathways of PTC.Shuang Yu Yanqiang Ding Xuejie Wang Siu Kin Ng Siting Cao Weixin Liu Zhuming Guo Yubin Xie Shubin Hong Lixia Xu Xiaoxing Li Jie Li Weiming Lv Sui Peng Yanbing Li Joseph J.Y.Sung Jun Yu Haipeng Xiao 2023Engineering2023,,9:0
