1Surgical outcomes of mini-open Wiltse approach and conventional open approach in patients with single-segment thoracolumbar fractures without neurologic injury显示文摘This study aimed to introduce a novel mini-open pedicle screw fixation technique via Wiltse approach,and compared it with the traditional posterior open method.A total of 72 cases of single-segment thoracolumbar fractures without neurologic injury underwent pedicle screw fixation via two different approaches.Among them,37 patients were treated using posterior open surgery,and 35 patients received mini-open operation via Wiltse approach.Crew placement accuracy rate,operative time,blood loss,postoperative drainage,postoperative hospitalization time,radiation exposure time,postoperative improvement in R value,Cobb's angle and visual analog scale(VAS)scores of the two methods were compared.There were no significant differences in the accuracy rate of pedicle screw placement,radiation exposure and postoperative R value and Cobb's angle improvement between the two groups.However,the mini-open method had obvious advantages over the conventional open method in operative time,blood loss,postoperative drainage,postoperative hospitalization time,and postoperative improvement in VAS.The mini-open pedicle screw technique could be applied in treatment of single-segment thoracolumbar fracture without neurologic injury and had advantages of less tissue trauma,short operative and rehabilitative time on the premise of guaranteed accuracy rate and no increased radiation exposure.Haijun Li Lei Yang Hao Xie Lipeng Yu Haifeng Wei Xiaojian Cao 2015The Journal of Biomedical Research2015,29,1:43
2A new free-hand pedicle screw placement technique with reference to the supraspinal ligament显示文摘We sought to compare the safety and accuracy of a new free-hand pedicle screw placement technique to that of the conventional technique.One hundred fifty-three consecutive adult patients with simple fracture in the thoracic or/and lumbar spine were alternately assigned to either the new free-hand or the conventional group.In the new free-hand technique group,preoperative computerized tomography(CT) images were used to calculate the targeted medial-lateral angle of each pedicle trajectory and the pedicle screw was inserted perpendicular to the corresponding supraspinal ligament.In the conventional technique group,the medial-lateral and cranial-caudal angle of each pedicle trajectory was determined by intraoperatively under fluoroscopic guidance.The accuracy rate of pedicle screw placement,the time of intraoperative fluoroscopy,the operating time and the amount of blood loss during operation were respectively compared.All screws were analyzed by using intraoperative radiographs,intraoperative triggered electromyography(EMG) monitoring data,postoperative CT data and clinical outcomes.The accuracy rate of pedicle screw placement in the new free-hand technique group and the conventional technique group was 96.3% and 94.2%(P < 0.05),respectively.The intraoperative fluoroscopy time of the new technique group was less than that of the conventional technique group(5.37 seconds vs.8.79 seconds,P < 0.05).However,there was no statistical difference in the operating time and the amount of blood loss during operation(P > 0.05).Pedicle screw placement with the free-hand technique which keeps the screw perpendicular to the supraspinal ligament is an accurate,reliable and safe technique to treat simple fracture in the thoracic or lumbar spine.Juming Li Hong Zhao Hao Xie Lipeng Yu Jifu Wei Min Zong Feng Chen Ziqiang Zhu Ning Zhang Xiaojian Cao 2014The Journal of Biomedical Research2014,28,1:7
3Numerical analysis of dynamic response of vehicle–bridge coupled system on long-span continuous girder bridge显示文摘To systematically study the vehicle–bridge coupled dynamic response and its change rule with different parameters, a vehicle model with seven degrees of freedom was built and the total potential energy of vehicle space vibration system was deduced. Considering the stimulation of road roughness, the dynamic response equation of vehicle–bridge coupled system was established in accordance with the elastic system principle of total potential energy with stationary value and the ‘‘set-in-right-position'' rule. On the basis of the self-compiled Fortran program and bridge engineering, the dynamic response of longspan continuous girder bridge under vehicle load was studied. This study also included the calculation of vehicle impact coefficient, evaluation of vibration comfort, and analysis of dynamic response parameters.Results show the impact coefficient changes with lane number and is larger than the value calculated by the ‘‘general code for design of highway bridges and culverts(China)''. The Dieckmann index of bridge vibration is also related to lane number, and the vibration comfort evaluation is good in normal conditions.The relevant conclusions from parametric analyses have practical significance to dynamic design and daily operation of long-span continuous girder bridges in expressways. 6A comparison of robot-assisted and fluoroscopy-assisted kyphoplasty in the treatment of multi-segmental osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures显示文摘Osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture(OVCF)has become a major public health issue that becomes more pressing with increasing global aging.Percutaneous kyphoplasty(PKP)is an effective treatment for OVCF.Robot-assisted PKP has been utilized in recent years to improve accuracy and reduce complications.However,the effectiveness of robot-assisted PKP in the treatment of multi-segmental OVCF has yet to be proved.This study was designed to compare the efficacy of robot-assisted and conventional fluoroscopy-assisted multi-segmental PKP.A total of 30 cases with multi-segmental OVCF between April 2019 and April 2021 were included in this study.Fifteen cases were assigned to the robot-assisted PKP group(robot group)and 15 cases to the conventional fluoroscopy-assisted PKP group(conventional fluoroscopy group).The number of fluoroscopic exposures,fluoroscopic dose,operation time,cement leakage rate,visual analog scale(VAS)score,vertebral kyphosis angle(VKA),and height of fractured vertebral body(HFV)were compared between the 2 groups.The number of fluoroscopic exposures,fluoroscopic doses,and cement leakage rates in the robot group were lower than in the conventional fluoroscopy group(P<0.05)while the operative time in the robot group was longer than in the conventional fluoroscopy group(P<0.05).VAS score and VKA were decreased and HFV was increased after surgery in both groups(P<0.05).Therefore,robot-assisted PKP for the treatment of multi-segmental OVCF can reduce the number of fluoroscopic exposures,fluoroscopic doses,and cement leakage compared to conventional treatment.As such,robot-assisted PKP has good application prospects and is potentially more effective in the treatment of multi-segmental OVCF.Qingqing Li Chaoqin Wu Zhenfei Huang Jiang Cao Jie Chang Guoyong Yin Lipeng Yu Xiaojian Cao Tao Sui 2022The Journal of Biomedical Research2022,36,3:2

9Engineered extracellular vesicles for delivery of siRNA promoting targeted repair of traumatic spinal cord injury显示文摘Spinal cord injury(SCI)is a severe disease of the nervous system that causes irreparable damage and loss of function,for which no effective treatments are available to date.Engineered extracellular vesicles(EVs)carrying therapeutic molecules hold promise as an alternative SCI therapy depending on the specific functionalized EVs and the appropriate engineering strategy.In this study,we demonstrated the design of a drug delivery system of peptide CAQK-modified,siRNA-loaded EVs(C-EVs-siRNA)for SCI-targeted therapy.The peptide CAQK was anchored through a chemical modification to the membranes of EVs isolated from induced neural stem cells(iNSCs).CCL2-siRNA was then loaded into the EVs through electroporation.The modified EVs still maintained the basic properties of EVs and showed favorable targeting and therapeutic effects in vitro and in vivo.C-EVs-siRNA specifically delivered siRNA to the SCI region and was taken up by target cells.C-EVs-siRNA used the inherent anti-inflammatory and neuroreparative functions of iNSCs-derived EVs in synergy with the loaded siRNA,thus enhancing the therapeutic effect against SCI.The combination of targeted modified EVs and siRNA effectively regulated the microenvironmental disturbance after SCI,promoted the transformation of microglia/macrophages from M1 to M2 and limited the negative effects of the inflammatory response and neuronal injury on functional recovery in mice after SCI.Thus,engineered EVs are a potentially feasible and efficacious treatment for SCI,and may also be used to develop targeted treatments for other diseases.Yuluo Rong Zhuanghui Wang Pengyu Tang Jiaxing Wang Chengyue Ji Jie Chang Yufeng Zhu Wu Ye Jianling Bai Wei Liu Guoyong Yin Lipeng Yu Xuhui Zhou Weihua Cai 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,5:1

13An Experimental Study on Oxidized Mercury Adsorption by Bromide Blended Coal Combustion Fly Ash显示文摘The application of forced mercury oxidation technology would lead to an increase of Hg^(2+)concentration in the flue gas.Although Hg^(2+)can be easily removed in the WFGD,the mercury re-emission in the WFGD can decrease the total removal of mercury from coal-fired power plants.Hence,it is necessary to control Hg^(2+)concentration in the devices before the WFGD.Fly ash adsorbent is considered as a potential alternative for commercial activated carbon adsorbent.However,the adsorption efficiency of the original fly ash is low.Modification procedure is needed to enhance the adsorption performance.In this study,the adsorption of Hg^(2+)by brominated fly ash was studied.The fly ash was collected from the full-scale power plant utilizing bromide-blended coal combustion technology.The brominated fly ash exhibited excellent performance for Hg^(2+)removal.The flue gas component HBr and SO_(2)could improve adsorbent’s performance,while HCl would hinder its adsorption process.Also,it was demonstrated by Hg-TPD experiments that the adsorbed Hg^(2+)mainly existed on the fly ash surface in the form of HgBr_(2).In summary,the brominated fly ash has a broad application prospect for mercury control.Mingyu Yu Mengyuan Liu Guangqian Luo Ruize Sun Jingyuan Hu Hailu Zhu Li Zhong Lipeng Han Xian Li Hong Yao 2021Energy Engineering2021,118,5:0
14Seismic energy dispersion compensation by multi-scale morphology显示文摘Seismic energy decays while propagating subsurface, which may reduce the resolution of seismic data. This paper studies the method of seismic energy dispersion compensation which provides the basic principles for multi-scale morphology and the spectrum simulation method. These methods are applied in seismic energy compensation. First of all, the seismic data is decomposed into multiple scales and the effective frequency bandwidth is selectively broadened for some scales by using a spectrum simulation method. In this process, according to the amplitude spectrum of each scale, the best simulation range is selected to simulate the middle and low frequency components to ensure the authenticity of the simulation curve which is calculated by the median method, and the high frequency component is broadened. Finally, these scales are reconstructed with reasonable coefficients, and the compensated seismic data can be obtained. 15Optical resonance with subwavelength spectral coherence switch in open-end cavity显示文摘The physical properties of light fields at the subwavelength scale have emerged as extensively pursued objectives in nano-optics,photonics,and plasmonics.Here,we report that in the paraxial regime,the spectral density and the spectral axial coherence(z-coherence)structures in a submicron range can be generated by employing a light beam with a suitably chosen spatial coherence state in a counter-propagating configuration,in an open-end cavity.It is established that while the spectral density forms an optical standing wave,the z-coherence state depends on the symmetry of the selected point pair and in particular,the phenomenon termed as periodical coherence switch is found.Our findings shed new light on the discussion of the role of spatial coherence in the photonic cavities,possibly inspiring further studies in the field of enhanced light-nanomaterials interactions by optical cavity.This provides a versatile framework for tailoring coherence in subwavelength space with promising applications in metrology and imaging.Lipeng Wan David Raveh Tianbao Yu Daomu Zhao Olga Korotkova 2023Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2023,66,7:0
16Transformation of Coal Gangue to Sodalite and Faujasite Using Alkali-hydrothermal Method显示文摘The coal gangue as the only source of silicon and aluminum was employed to synthesize sodalite and faujasite using hydrothermal method,which directly treated the mixture of pre-treated coal gangue and NaOH solution under hydrothermal environment.X-ray powder diffraction analysis(XRD),thermogravimetry analysis(TG)and differential thermogravimetry analysis(DTG),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),high resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM),N_(2)adsorption-desorption technique,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),etc.were used to characterize the samples.Cd^(2+) ion was used to evaluate the heavy metal ions removal performance of the samples.The experimental results show that the coal gangue,which consists of quartz,calcium feldspar,potassium feldspar and kaolinite,can transform to sodalite and faujasite under alkali-hydrothermal condition at 150 and 180℃,respectively.The as-prepared sodalite and faujasite can effectively remove the simulated Cd2+ion wastewater and actual industrial wastewater containing As^(3+),Cd^(2+),and Cr^(3+)ions,and the good heavy metal ion removal performance of the zeolites is mainly attributed to their low Si/Al ratio and high Na+content.This alkali-hydrothermal method appears to be a simple and efficient method for transformation of coal gangue to high purity zeolites.WANG Cheng FENG Kai WANG Lipeng YU Qianru DU Fuling LI Yan YU Kaining 2023Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2023,38,6:0
17The Breeding Ecology of a Critically Endangered Salamander,Hynobius amjiensis(Caudata:Hynobiidae),Endemic to Eastern China显示文摘Hynobius amjiensis is a critically endangered salamander species(IUCN Red List) endemic to eastern China. It currently has three known populations: one in Longwangshan, Zhejiang Province(type locality), and two in Qingliangfeng between Anhui and Zhejiang Provinces. We examined the relatively unstudied breeding ecology of this species in the field and at laboratory from March 2007 to May 2014. Adult males and females were year-round terrestrial, except for the February–April breeding season. During this period, we captured only a total of 16 breeding adults(11 males and 5 females). As few as 100 breeding females were estimated based on the number of egg sacs observed since 2007. This number was significantly reduced from the estimated number between 1992 and 1998. Males(mean total length = 16.21 cm, mean body mass = 18.8 g) were slightly smaller than females(16.51 cm, 19.2 g). Size of breeding pools ranged from 0.2 m^2 to 1.2 m^2(0.1–1.2 m depths). Each female deposits a pair of egg sacs by attaching the adhesive tips of the sacs to aquatic plants or dead twigs. Fifteen pairs of egg sacs had an average length of 28.6 cm and a diameter of 3.3 cm. On average, each egg sac contained 75 eggs with a diameter of 0.3 cm. Our field survey revealed that H. amjiensis used oviposition sites in small, cool, and weakly acidic pools at high elevations(1 300–1 600 m) where peat moss was abundant. Reduction in wetland size and disappearance of suitable breeding pools suggest that this salamander species is under threat of extinction, particularly at Longwangshan, where 5 of the 9 breeding pools have either dried up or disappeared. Combined size of the remaining 4 pools is less than 2 m^2. 18Oncological and functional results following operation for giant cell tumour of bone显示文摘Objective:Giant cell tumours(GCT)represent one of the most common benign tumours of bone.However,despite its benign nature they are aggressive lesions that have a tendency to recur.This study aims to report experience with the treatment of GCTs,and reviews the relationship between surgical management and clinical outcome.Methods:A retrospective review was performed with 70 patients(32 males and 38 females)who presented to our institution between 1991 and 2001 with GCT of bone.An evaluation of the oncological and functional results was conducted and patients were divided into three groups according to the treatment method;GroupⅠ:(46 patients)intralesional curettage and adjuvant therapy and packing with filling materials.GroupⅡ:(18 patients)en-bloc resection and arthrodesis or reconstruction.GroupⅢ:(6 patients)amputation.Results:The mean follow-up period was 10 years(range,5-15 years).The overall rate of local recurrence was 14%,22% in Group I,and only 4% in GroupⅡ and GroupⅢ.According to the Musculoskeletal Tumour Society(MSTS)score for functional outcome,the mean overall score for Group I was 27.9(out of 30),15.9 for GroupⅡ.Of note,the 9 patients within GroupⅡ who received endoprosthetic reconstruction,the mean overall MSTS functional score was 25.5.Conclusion:Intralesional curettage with adjuvant therapies and filling agents is often associated with a relatively high recurrence rate,however joint function is well preserved.Patients with more extensive,biologically aggressive,and/or recurrent tumours are best treated with en-bloc resection.Yongzhong Wei Eugene T.H.
