1Assessing the Dynamics of Grassland Net Primary Productivity in Response to Climate Change at the Global Scale显示文摘Understanding the net primary productivity(NPP) of grassland is crucial to evaluate the terrestrial carbon cycle. In this study, we investigated the spatial distribution and the area of global grassland across the globe. Then, we used the Carnegie-Ames-Stanford Approach(CASA) model to estimate global grassland NPP and explore the spatio-temporal variations of grassland NPP in response to climate change from 1982 to 2008. Results showed that the largest area of grassland distribution during the study period was in Asia(1737.23 × 104 km^2), while the grassland area in Europe was relatively small(202.83 × 10~4 km^2). Temporally, the total NPP increased with fluctuations from 1982 to 2008, with an annual increase rate of 0.03 Pg C/yr. The total NPP experienced a significant increasing trend from 1982 to 1995, while a decreasing trend was observed from 1996 to 2008. Spatially, the grassland NPP in South America and Africa were higher than the other regions, largely as a result of these regions are under warm and wet climatic conditions. The highest mean NPP was recorded for savannas(560.10 g C/(m^2·yr)), whereas the lowest was observed in open shrublands with an average NPP of 162.53 g C/(m^2·yr). 2Can the Grain-for-Green Program Really Ensure a Low Sediment Load on the Chinese Loess Plateau?显示文摘The Chinese Loess Plateau is the most seriously eroded area in the world and contributes the vast majority of the sediment that goes into the Yellow River.Since the 1950s,progressive soil and water conservation measures have been implemented—in particular,large-scale ecological restoration has been ongoing since 1999—resulting in a significant reduction of the sediment load.However,the mechanism of the sediment transport dynamics is not fully understood due to multiple and complicated influencing factors including climate change and human activities(e.g.,ecological restoration).A challenging question,then,arises:Is the current low sediment level a“new normal”in this era and in the future?To address this question,we selected a typical loess hilly region where considerable ecological restoration has been implemented,and which is regarded as the site of the first and most representative Grainfor-Green program in the Loess Plateau.We investigated the evolution of discharge–sediment relationships in the past decades(1960–2010)and their association with the soil and water conservation measures in this area.The results showed that there was a distinct change in the regression parameters of the commonly used annual discharge–sediment regression equation—a continuously increasing trend of parameter b and a decreasing trend of parameter a,accompanying the ecological restoration.The increase in exponent b(i.e.,a steeper slope)implies a potential lower sediment load resulting from low discharge and a potential higher sediment load resulting from large discharge.This finding may question the new normal of a low sediment level and implies the potential risk of a large sediment load during extremely wet years.Pengcheng Sun Yiping Wu Zhifeng Yang Bellie Sivakumar Linjing Qiu Shuguang Liu Yanpeng Cai 2019Engineering2019,5,5:3
3Tetragonal (Ba, Ca) (Zr, Ti)O_(3) textured ceramics with enhanced piezoelectric response and superior temperature stability显示文摘Lead-free ceramics with both high piezoelectric response and good temperature stability are urgently demanded for electromechanical conversion devices.Unfortunately,owing to coexistence of poly-morphic phases near room temperature(RT),enhanced piezoelectric properties were usually achieved with occurrence of strong temperature dependence in modified BaTiO_(3)(BT)-based ceramics.In this work,we demonstrate that tailoring grain orientations of tetragonal BT-based ceramics can effectively produce substantially enhanced and thermally stabilized piezoelectric response.Both<001>c-and<111>c-oriented tetragonal(Ba_(0.85)Ca_(0.15))(Zr_(0.05)Ti_(0.95))O_(3)(BCZT)ceramics with texture degrees F>90%were synthesized via templated grain growth.Interestingly,the ceramics textured along the<001>c polar axis show much higher microscopic and macroscopic piezoelectric properties than those with nonpolar<111>c texture,indicating an“extender”ferroelectricity nature.Compared with randomly oriented samples,the<001>c-oriented ceramics exhibit simultaneously~1.6 times higher piezoelectric strain d_(33)^(*)(~760 pm/V),4.4 times higher piezoelectric figure of merit d_(33)×g_(33)(8.8×10^(-12) m^(2)/N),and better temperature stability(strain variation≤5%between RT and 110℃).Such thermally stabilized strain response can be mainly attributed to wide temperature range of tetragonal phase and stable domain structure.This work provides a promising route for further developing lead-free piezoceramics with high and temperature-insensitive performance,which can greatly broaden their application areas.Qiangwei Kou Bin Yang Yuan Sun Shuai Yang Linjing Liu Hang Xie Yunfei Chang Shantao Zhang Fei Li 2022Journal of Materiomics2022,8,2:1

12Synthesis and electromagnetic wave absorption performances of a novel(Mo_(0.25)Cr_(0.25)Ti_(0.25)V_(0.25))_(3)AlC_(2)high-entropy MAX phase显示文摘Herein,a novel kind of high-entropy MAX phases,(Mo_(0.25)Cr_(0.25)Ti_(0.25)V_(0.25))_(3)AlC_(2)powders were success-fully synthesized by a newly proposed two-step solid state reaction process.The oxidation experiments demonstrate that the oxidation products of Al_(2)Mo_(3)O_(12) and rutile TiO 2 are formed at about 600 and 800℃,respectively.Besides,the dielectric and electromagnetic(EM)wave absorption properties of(Mo_(0.25)Cr_(0.25)Ti_(0.25)V_(0.25))_(3)AlC_(2)powders and those after oxidation at different temperatures were also exam-ined.The results show that the as-synthesized(Mo_(0.25)Cr_(0.25)Ti_(0.25)V_(0.25))_(3)AlC_(2)powders possess excellent EM wave absorption performances with the minimum reflection loss(RL)of-45.80 dB(at 1.7 mm thickness)and the maximum effective absorption bandwidth(E AB)of 3.6 GHz(at 1.5 mm thickness).After oxidation at 400-800℃,due to the coupling of conductivity loss and polarization loss,(Mo_(0.25)Cr_(0.25)Ti_(0.25)V_(0.25))_(3)AlC_(2)powders can retain good EM wave absorption properties in a certain frequency range.In this paper,the effects of oxidation on EM wave absorption properties of high-entropy MAX phases were systematically investigated for the first time.This work manifests that high-entropy MAX phases are promising EM wave absorbing candidates and can maintain good EM wave absorption performances after oxidation.Linjing Qiao Jianqiang Bi Guandong Liang Chen Liu Zhuangzhuang Yin Yao Yang Hongyi Wang Shaoyin Wang Mengmeng Shang Weili Wang 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,6:1

15Degradable nanocatalyst enables antitumor/antibacterial therapy and promotion of wound healing for diabetes via self-enhanced cascading reaction显示文摘Diabetic patients often have problems such as residual tumor and wound infection after tumor resection,causing severe clinical problems.It is urgent to develop effective therapies to reach oncotherapy/antiinfection/promotion of wound healing combined treatment.Herein,we propose CS/MnO_(2)-GO_x (CMGO_x)nanocatalysts for the specific catalytic generation of ~·OH to inhibit tumors and bacteria in a hyperglycemic environment.The good biocompatible chitosan (CS),as a carrier for the catalyst,exhibits excellent antibacterial effect as well as promotes wound healing.Glucose oxidase (GO_x) is loaded on the surface of CS nanoparticles to generate H_(2)O_(2) and gluconic acid by consuming glucose (starvation therapy,ST) and O_(2).The MnO_(2) depletes glutathione (GSH) to produce Mn^(2+),amplifying oxidative stress and further promoting the activity of Mn^(2+)-mediated Fenton-like reaction to produce~·OH (chemodynamic therapy,CDT)in weak acidic environment.Moreover,the produced gluconic acid lowers the p H of the environment,enhancing chemodynamic therapy (ECDT).The tumor cells and bacteria are efficiently eliminated by the synergistic effect of ST and ECDT.The MnO_(2) nanoparticles at neutral environment decomposes H_(2)O_(2) into O_(2),which cooperate with CS to promote healing.The self-enhanced cascade reaction of CMGO_x in situ exhibits excellent effects of antitumor/antibacterial therapy and promotion of wound healing,offering a promising integrated treatment for diabetic patients after tumor surgical resection.Xiang Wang Cheng Ding Ziwen Zhang Chunlin Li Dongmiao Cao Linjing Zhao Guoying Deng Yu Luo Chunping Yuan Jie Lu Xijian Liu 2023Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,7:0

19Orbital and Millennial-Scale Climate Variability over the Past 76 ka in the Western Tarim Basin, Northwest China显示文摘Paleoclimate changes during the last glacial in the arid central Asia are not as well understood as the monsoon-dominated areas of Asia. Here we report a 75-m-long sediment core over past 120 kyr based on astronomical tuning combined with the optically stimulated luminescence(OSL) dating in the Kashi depression of the western Tarim Basin, Northwest China. Analysis of grain size and highresolution gamma ray(GR) logs from the KT11 borehole across the last glacial period yields a climate history for the Tarim Basin which reflects the variations of its temperature and the hydrological cycles. Comparison of these records with north hemisphere summer insolation, the Greenland ice core temperature, stalagmites and the loess from the nearby region indicates that the deposits in the fluvio-lacustrine system of the Kashi depression responded to climate change at the Younger Dryas(YD), six Heinrich cooling events and the Dansgaard-Oeschger cycles.
