| 1 | Field investigation on severely damaged aseismic buildings in 2014 Ludian earthquake显示文摘The 2014 magnitude 6.5 Ludian earthquake caused a death toll of 617, many landslides and tens of thousands of collapsed buildings. A field investigation to evaluate the damage to buildings was carried out immediately after the occurrence of the earthquake. Severely damaged aseismic buildings, which were basically observed in the downtown of Longtoushan Town, were carefully examined one by one with the aim to improve design codes. This paper summarizes the damage observed to the investigated aseismic buildings in both the structural and local levels. A common failure mode was observed that most of the aseismic buildings, such as RC frame structures and confined masonry structures, were similarly destroyed by severe damage or complete collapse of the first story. The related strong ground motion, which was recorded at the nearby station, had a short duration of less than 20 s but a very large PGA up to 1.0 g. The RC frames based on the new design codes still failed to achieve the design target for 'strong column, weak beam'. | 4 | Acupuncture/electroacupuncture enhances antidepressant effect of Seroxat:the Symptom Checklist-90 scores显示文摘One hundred and five patients with primary unipolar depression were randomly divided into three groups: drug group(Seroxat administration), acupuncture group(Seroxat plus acupuncture), and electroacupuncture group(Seroxat plus acupuncture plus electroacupuncture). Patients' symptoms were evaluated using a psychometric questionnaire, the Symptom Checklist-90, before intervention and after 2, 4, 6 and 10 weeks of treatment. The individual factor scores and the total score from the Symptom Checklist-90 reduced in all three groups as treatment progressed. In the acupuncture and electroacupuncture groups, the total score and the factor scores for obsessive-compulsive symptoms, depression, and anxiety were significantly lower than those in the drug group. There was no significant difference in the factor scores or total scores between the acupuncture and electroacupuncture groups. Some factor scores in the electroacupuncture group, such as somatization, depression, hostility, and phobic anxiety, were increased at 10 weeks compared with the respective score immediately after the course of electroacupuncture at 6 weeks. Our findings indicate that administration of Seroxat alone or in combination with acupuncture/electroacupuncture can produce a significant effect in patients with primary unipolar depression. | 5 | Improvement in quality of life in depressed patients following verum acupuncture or electroacupuncture plus paroxetine:A randomized controlled study of 157 cases显示文摘Depressed patients with scores of 17 or more on the 17 items of the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale were treated with the antidepressant drug paroxetine. They also underwent verum acupuncture or electroacupuncture at Baihui (GV20) and Yintang (GV29). The World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale Brief Version showed a significant increase in the total scores of patients who underwent verum acupuncture and electroacupuncture for 6 weeks compared with those who were given paroxetine only; significantly increased physical domain and social relationship scores in verum acupuncture patients compared with paroxetine only; and significantly elevated psychological domain scores with electroacupuncture compared with paroxetine only. | 8 | Histological observation on unique phenotypes of malformation induced in Xenopus tropicalis larvae by tributyltin显示文摘Tributyltin(TBT),a biocide used in antifouling paints,has shown strong teratogenic effects on Xenopus tropicalis embryos at environmentally relevant concentrations.X.tropicalis embryos were exposed to 50,100 and 200 ng/L tributyltin chloride for 72 hr.The histological changes were further observed on abnormal eyes,enlarged trunks,enlarged proctodaeums and absence of fins induced by TBT.The lens and the retinal layers of abnormal eyes were slightly or barely differentiated,and that the pigment epithelium was neither continuous nor smooth.The abdomens were full of undifferentiated gut tissue with yolk-rich inclusions in the tadpoles with enlarged trunks.The proctodaeums formed a bump-like or columnar structure.The mass of yolk-rich cells occupied the lumen,blocked the opening and even turned inside out of the proctodaeum.Both the ventral and dorsal fins in trunks and tails became narrow or even disappeared totally.Our results suggest that great changes of histology took place corresponding to the unique phenotypes.The gut tissue was poorly differentiated,which led to the failed elongation of the guts and subsequently the enlarged trunks.The enlarged proctodaeums were due to the undifferentiation of inner layer,the expansion of outer epidermal part and the absence of fins around them.In brief,the histological observations provided insights into the reason of the unique external malformations in some degree. | Junqi Liu Qinzhen Cao Jing Yuan Xiaoli Zhang Lin Yu Huahong Shi | 2012 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,2: | 1 |

Common endodontic treatment concepts are based on the removal of inflamed or necrotic pulp tissue and the replacement by gutta-percha. However, it is very essential for endodontic treatment to debride the root canal system and prevent the root canal system from bacterial reinfection after root canal therapy(RCT). Recent research, encompassing bacterial etiology and advanced imaging techniques, contributes to our understanding of the root canal system’s anatomy intricacies and the technique sensitivity of RCT. Success in RCT hinges on factors like patients, infection severity, root canal anatomy, and treatment techniques. Therefore, improving disease management is a key issue to combat endodontic diseases and cure periapical lesions. The clinical difficulty assessment system of RCT is established based on patient conditions, tooth conditions, root canal configuration, and root canal needing retreatment, and emphasizes pre-treatment risk assessment for optimal outcomes. The findings suggest that the presence of risk factors may correlate with the challenge of achieving the high standard required for RCT. | 17 | Stock Price Forecasting: An Echo State Network Approach显示文摘Forecasting stock prices using deep learning models suffers from pro-blems such as low accuracy,slow convergence,and complex network structures.This study developed an echo state network(ESN)model to mitigate such pro-blems.We compared our ESN with a long short-term memory(LSTM)network by forecasting the stock data of Kweichow Moutai,a leading enterprise in China’s liquor industry.By analyzing data for 120,240,and 300 days,we generated fore-cast data for the next 40,80,and 100 days,respectively,using both ESN and LSTM.In terms of accuracy,ESN had the unique advantage of capturing non-linear data.Mean absolute error(MAE)was used to present the accuracy results.The MAEs of the data forecast by ESN were 0.024,0.024,and 0.025,which were,respectively,0.065,0.007,and 0.009 less than those of LSTM.In terms of con-vergence,ESN has a reservoir state-space structure,which makes it perform faster than other models.Root-mean-square error(RMSE)was used to present the con-vergence time.In our experiment,the RMSEs of ESN were 0.22,0.27,and 0.26,which were,respectively,0.08,0.01,and 0.12 less than those of LSTM.In terms of network structure,ESN consists only of input,reservoir,and output spaces,making it a much simpler model than the others.The proposed ESN was found to be an effective model that,compared to others,converges faster,forecasts more accurately,and builds time-series analyses more easily. | Guang Sun Jingjing Lin Chen Yang Xiangyang Yin Ziyu Li Peng Guo Junqi Sun Xiaoping Fan Bin Pan | 2021 | Computer Systems Science & Engineering2021,36,3: | 0 |
