2Whole-Process Pollution Control for Cost-Effective and Cleaner Chemical Production A Case Study of the Tungsten Industry in China显示文摘In this research,a methodology named whole-process pollution control(WPPC)is demonstrated that improves the effectiveness of process optimization.This methodology considers waste/emission treatment as a step of the whole production process with respect to the minimization of cost and environmental impact for the whole process.The following procedures are introduced in a WPPC process optimization:①a material and energy flow investigation and optimization based on a systematic understanding of the distribution and physiochemical properties of potential pollutants;②a process optimization to increase the utilization efficiency of different elements and minimize pollutant emissions;and③an evaluation to reveal the effectiveness of the optimization strategies.The production of ammonium paratungstate was chosen for the case study.Two factors of the different optimization schemes-namely the cost-effectiveness factor and the environmental impact indicator-were evaluated and compared.This research demonstrates that by considering the nature of potential pollutants,technological innovations,economic viability,environmental impacts,and regulation requirements,WPPC can efficiently optimize a metal production process.Hongbin Cao He Zhao Di Zhang Chenming Liu Xiao Lin Yuping Li Pengge Ning Jiajun Sun Yi Zhang Zhi Sun 2019Engineering2019,5,4:7

4RRx-001 ameliorates inflammatory diseases by acting as a potent covalent NLRP3 inhibitor显示文摘The NLRP3 inflammasome plays a crucial role in innate immune-mediated inflammation and contributes to the pathogenesis of multiple autoinflammatory,metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases,but medications targeting the NLRP3 inflammasome are not available for clinical use.RRx-001 is a well-tolerated anticancer agent currently being investigated in phase III clinical trials,but its effects on inflammatory diseases are not known.Here,we show that RRx-001 is a highly selective and potent NLRP3 inhibitor that has strong beneficial effects on NLRP3-driven inflammatory diseases.RRx-001 inhibits the activation of the canonical,noncanonical,and alternative NLRP3 inflammasomes but not the AIM2,NLRC4 or Pyrin inflammasomes.Mechanistically,RRx-001 covalently binds to cysteine 409 of NLRP3 via its bromoacetyl group and therefore blocks the NLRP3-NEK7 interaction,which is critical for the assembly and activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome.More importantly,RRx-001 treatment attenuates the symptoms of lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced systemic inflammation,dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced colitis and experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis(EAE)in mice.Thus,our study identifies RRx-001 as a new potential therapeutic agent for NLRP3-driven diseases.Yun Chen Hongbin He Bolong Lin Yun Chen Xianming Deng Wei Jiang Rongbin Zhou 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,6:5
5Internal failure of anode materials for lithium batteriesd——A critical review显示文摘Prevention of mechanical and finally electrochemical failures of lithium batteries is a critical aspect to be considered during their design and performance, especially for those with high specific capacities. Internal failure is observed as one of the most serious factors, including loss of electrode materials, structure deformation and dendrite growth. It usually incubates from atomic/molecular level and progressively aggravates along with lithiation. Understanding the internal failure is of great importance for developing solutions of failure prevention and advanced anode materials. In this research, different internal failure processes of anode materials for lithium batteries are discussed. The progress on observation technologies of the anode failure is further summarized in order to understand their mechanisms of internal failure. 6Numerical and Experimental Investigations on Tunable Low-frequency Locally Resonant Metamaterials显示文摘In this paper,a tunable locally resonant metamaterial is proposed for low-frequency band gaps.The local resonator composed of two pairs of folded slender beams and a proof mass is designed based on the theory of compliant mechanism.The design optimization on geometric parameters is carried out to fulfil the quasi-zero-stiffness property.The locally resonant metamaterial is formed by periodically arranged unit cells,and the transmittance of longitudinal wave is studied through three aspects:numerical predictions,finite element simulations and experimental tests.The variation trends revealed by these three methods match well with one another:the band gap moves to lower frequency and both its depth and width get smaller and smaller with the increase of pre-compression(Δ).The band gap overlays the frequency range of 73.10–92.38 Hz and 16.78–19.49 Hz atΔ=0mm andΔ=10mm,respectively,providing a wide range of tunability.Besides,the ultralow-frequency band gap can be achieved asΔapproaches 10 mm.This study may provide an avenue for achieving the tunable ultralow-frequency locally resonant band gap.Qida Lin Jiaxi Zhou Hongbin Pan Daolin Xu Guilin Wen 2021Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2021,34,5:4

8Genome-wide mapping of conserved microRNAs and their host transcripts in Tribolium castaneum显示文摘MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are endogenous 22-nt RNAs,which play important regulatory roles by post-transcriptional gene silencing. A computational strategy has been developed for the identification of conserved miRNAs based on features of known metazoan miRNAs in red flour beetle (Tribolium castaneum),which is regarded as one of the major laboratory models of arthropods. Among 118 putative miRNAs,47% and 53% of the predicted miRNAs from the red flour beetle are harbored by known protein-coding genes (intronic) and genes located outside (intergenic miRNA),respectively. There are 31 intronic miRNAs in the same transcriptional orientation as the host genes,which may share RNA polymerase Ⅱ and spliceosomal machinery with their host genes for their biogenesis. 9The distribution of chlorophyll a in the tropical eastern Indian Ocean in austral summer显示文摘To study the effect of hydrographic factors on the spatial distributions of chlorophyll a (Chl a), an investigation was carried out in the tropical eastern Indian Ocean (80 -100 E along 7 S, and 7 -18 S along 80 E) in December 2010. The fluorescent method was used to obtain total Chl a and size-fractioned Chl a at the 26 stations. The results show that surface Chl a concentration averaged at (0.168 ± 0.095) mg/m 3 s.d. (range: 0.034-0.475 mg/m 3 ), concentrations appeared to be higher in the west for longitudinal variations, and higher in the north for latitudinal variations. Furthermore, the surface Chl a concentration was lower (0.034-0.066 mg/m 3 ) in the region to the south of 16 S. There was a strong subsurface Chl a maximum layer at all stations and the depth of the Chl a maximum increased towards to the east and south along with the respective nitracline. The spatial variation of Chl a was significant: correlation and regression analysis suggests that it was primarily affected by PO 3 4 , N(NO 3 -N+NO 2 -N) and temperature. Size-fractionated Chl a concentration clearly showed that the study area was a typical oligotrophic open ocean, in which picophytoplankton dominated, accounting for approximately 67.8% of total Chl a, followed by nanophytoplankton (24.5%) and microphytoplankton (7.6%). 10A two-level hierarchical discrete-device control method for power networks with integrated wind farms显示文摘Power systems depend on discrete devices, such as shunt capacitors/reactors and on-load tap changers, for their long-term reliability.In transmission systems that contain large wind farms, we must take into account the uncertainties in wind power generation when deciding when to operate these devices.In this paper, we describe a method to schedule the operation of these devices over the course of the following day.These schedules are designed to minimize wind-power generation curtailment, bus voltage violations, and dynamic reactive-power deviations,even under the worst possible conditions.Daily voltagecontrol decisions are initiated every 15 min using a dynamic optimization algorithm that predicts the state of the system over the next 4-hour period.For this, forecasts updated in real-time are employed, because they are more precise than forecasts for the day ahead.Day-ahead schedules are calculated using a two-stage robust mixedinteger optimization algorithm.The proposed control strategies were tested on a Chinese power network with wind power sources; the control performance was also validated numerically.Fengda XU Qinglai GUO Hongbin SUN Boming ZHANG Lin JIA 2019Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2019,7,1:2

15Thermodynamic models based on Pitzer-NRTL and Pitzer-Margules equations for the extraction of tungstic acid with primary amine N1923显示文摘The thermodynamic model of the extraction of W with primary amine under near neutral conditions is reported in this paper. The activity coefficients of the nonelectrolytes in organic phase are calculated by the Margules and NRTL equations which are based on previously tested liquid-liquid extraction equilibrium data in combination with mass balances and charge balance formula. The activity coefficients of the electrolytes in aqueous phase are calculated by the Pitzer equation. The thermodynamic model of the extraction of W by a primary amine is constructed from the calculated activity coefficients of electrolytes and nonelectrolytes. The extraction of W using primary amine is also predicated, and the data is compared to the calculated results of the thermodynamic model. 16Recrystallization nucleation under close-setδphase in a nickel-based superalloy during annealing显示文摘Annealing is one of the most efficient heat treatment to refine the grain microstructure in metal alloys.Prior to the annealing,an aging treatment can be implemented to precipitate the second phases for more nucleation sites in deformed mixed grains during subsequent recrystallization.However,the underlying mechanism behind the second phases and recrystallization has not yet been fully understood.Taking a typical deformed nickel(Ni)-based(GH4169)superalloy as an exapmle,this research aims to clairfy the connections between the recrystallization and delta(δ)phase(Ni_(3)Nb) during annealing.All deformed samples were also treated by aging and then annealing.The results show that the microstructure and component ofδphase dominated the recrystallization nucleation in the Ni-based alloy.Moreover,there was the presence of theδphase interval limiting nucleation(PILN)andδphase protecting nucleation(PPN),when a high content of close-set phase was precipitated from the matrix.The PILN determined the primary condition for the recrystallization nucleation that happended at the interval ofδphase larger than the critical nucleation size.The peak nucleation occurred in the PPN,where the recrystallization nucleus were free of the penetration by the adjacent grains,before the nucleation incubation time was reached.Thus,a new feasible JNtheory was proposed to determine the maximum domain of recrystallization nucleation under close-set precipitated phases.All the possible nucleation sites were assumed under PPN in the JNtheory.As such,the original microstructure can be expected to design for the annealing via the aging process.A quantitative evaluation of recrystallization nucleation can also achieved in the Ni-based alloys during aging.Guanqiang Wang Mingsong Chen Yongcheng Lin Hongbin Li Yuqiang Jiang Yanyong Ma Chengxu Peng Jinliang Cai Quan Chen 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,20:1
17Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of Al-Mg-Sc-Zr Alloy Additively Manufactured by Laser Direct Energy Deposition显示文摘An Al-Mg-Sc-Zr alloy was additively manufactured by laser direct energy deposition(DED)under different laser powers,and the microstructures and mechanical properties of the as-deposited samples were investigated.The samples showed a fully equiaxed grain structure with grain sizes of 2–30μm.Most of the blocky primary Al3(Sc,Zr)-precipitated phases(<5μm)were arranged along the grain boundaries.A small amount of fine granular secondary Al3(Sc,Zr)phases(<0.5μm)were precipitated owing to the cyclic heat treatment during the DED forming process.According to the EBSD(Electron backscatter diffraction)results,the texture index and strength of the sample were only slightly greater than 1,indicating that the material structure exhibited a certain but not obvious anisotropy.The sample in the horizontal direction had better yield strength,tensile strength,and elogation properties(399.87 MPa,220.96 MPa,9.13%)than that in the building direction(385.40 MPa,219.40 MPa,8.24%),although the sample in the〈XOZ〉plane had the finest equiaxed grains.The ductility of the〈XOZ〉sample deteriorated as the number of pores increased.Qian Hua Wenjun Wang Ruidi Li Hongbin Zhu Zehuan Lin Rong Xu Tiechui Yuan Kai Liu 2022Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering(Additive Manufacturing Frontiers)2022,1,4:1
