1Repurposing vitamin D for treatment of human malignancies via targeting tumor microenvironment显示文摘Tumor cells along with a small proportion of cancer stem cells exist in a stromal microenvironment consisting of vasculature, cancer-associated fibroblasts, immune cells and extracellular components.Recent epidemiological and clinical studies strongly support that vitamin D supplementation is associated with reduced cancer risk and favorable prognosis. Experimental results suggest that vitamin D not only suppresses cancer cells, but also regulates tumor microenvironment to facilitate tumor repression. In this review, we have outlined the current knowledge on epidemiological studies and clinical trials of vitamin D. Notably, wesummarized and discussed the anticancer action of vitamin D in cancer cells, cancer stem cells and stroma cells in tumor microenvironment, providing a better understanding of the role of vitamin D in cancer. 2Exogenous abscisic acid significantly affects proteome in teaplant (Camellia sinensis) exposed to drought stress显示文摘Tea[Camellia sinensis(L.)O.Kuntze]is an important economic crop,and drought is the most important abiotic stress affecting yield and quality.Abscisic acid(ABA)is an important phytohormone responsible for activating drought resistance.Increased understanding of ABA effects on tea plant under drought stress is essential to develop drought-tolerant tea genotypes,along with crop management practices that can mitigate drought stress.The objective of the present investigation is evaluation of effects of exogenous ABA on the leaf proteome in tea plant exposed to drought stress.Leaf protein patterns of tea plants under simulated drought stress[(polyethylene glycol(PEG)-treated]and exogenous ABA treatment were analyzed in a time-course experiment using two-dimensional electrophoresis(2-DE),followed by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight(MALDI-TOF)mass spectrometry(MS).Among the 72 protein spots identified by MALDI-TOF MS,16 proteins were downregulated and two were upregulated by exogenous ABA.The upregulated proteins have roles in glycolysis and photosystem II stabilization.Twenty-one protein spots were responsive to drought stress and most participate in carbohydrate and nitrogen metabolism,control of reactive oxygen species(ROS),defense,signaling or nucleic acid metabolism.The combined treatments of exogenous ABA and drought showed upregulation of 10 protein spots at 12 h and upregulation of 11 proteins at 72 h after initiation of drought stress.The results support the importance of the role that ABA plays in the tea plant during drought stress,by improving protein transport,carbon metabolism and expression of resistance proteins.Lin Zhou Hui Xu Sue Mischke Lyndel W Meinhardt Dapeng Zhang Xujun Zhu Xinghui Li Wanping Fang 2014Horticulture Research2014,1,1:12
3Metabolic and molecular analysis of nonuniform anthocyanin pigmentation in tomato fruit under high light显示文摘Pigment intensity and patterns are important factors that determine the nutritional and market values of tomato fruits.The acropetal manner of light-dependent anthocyanin accumulation with the highest levels at the stem end of the fruit makes Pro35S:BrTT8 tomato plants an ideal system for investigating the effects of light intensity on anthocyanin biosynthesis.Extensive transcript analyses indicate that anthocyanin pigmentation in Pro35S:BrTT8 plants under high light might be coordinately regulated by the exogenous protein BrTT8 and endogenous proteins SlAN2 and SlMYBL2.Furthermore,yeast two-hybrid assays showed that BrTT8 could interact efficiently with SlAN2,SlMYBL2,and SlAN11.Moreover,the physical interaction between BrTT8 and SlAN2 was validated by FRET.Simultaneous overexpression of SlAN2 and BrTT8 activated significant anthocyanin biosynthesis in infiltrated tobacco leaves.In addition,the ability of SlMYBL2 to suppress anthocyanin accumulation was also demonstrated in infiltrated tobacco leaves.Altogether,these results prove that tissue-specific assemblage of the heterogeneous MYB-bHLH-WD40 complex consisting of SlAN2,BrTT8 and SlAN11 triggers nonuniform anthocyanin accumulation in tomato fruit under high light.Additionally,it is proposed that a negative-feedback loop fulfilled by SlMYBL2 also participates in the regulation of anthocyanin production.Yanjie Zhang Yan Li Wanping Li Zongli Hu Xiaohui Yu Yun Tu Min Zhang Jinyong Huang Guoping Chen 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:4
4The tea plant CsLHT1 and CsLHT6 transporters take up amino acids, as a nitrogen source, from the soil of organic tea plantations显示文摘Organic tea is more popular than conventional tea that originates from fertilized plants.Amino acids inorganic soils constitute a substantial pool nitrogen(N)available for plants.However,the amino-acid contents in soils of tea plantations and how tea plants take up these amino acids remain largely unknown.In this study,we show that the amino-acid content in the soil of an organic tea plantation is significantly higher than that of a conventional tea plantation.Glutamate,alanine,valine,and leucine were the most abundant amino acids in the soil of this tea plantation.When 15 N-glutamate was fed to tea plants,it was efficiently absorbed and significantly increased the contents of other amino acids in the roots.We cloned seven CsLHT genes encoding amino-acid transporters and found that the expression of CsLHT1,CsLHT2,and CsLHT6 in the roots significantly increased upon glutamate feeding.Moreover,the expression of CsLHT1 or CsLHT6 in a yeast amino-acid uptake-defective mutant,22Δ10α,enabled growth on media with amino acids constituting the sole N source.Amino-acid uptake assays indicated that CsLHT1 and CsLHT6 are H^(+)-dependent high-and low-affinity amino-acid transporters,respectively.We further demonstrated that CsLHT1 and CsLHT6 are highly expressed in the roots and are localized to the plasma membrane.Moreover,overexpression of CsLHT1 and CsLHT6 in Arabidopsis significantly improved the uptake of exogenously supplied 15 N-glutamate and 15 N-glutamine.Taken together,our findings are consistent with the involvement of CsLHT1 and CsLHT6 in amino-acid uptake from the soil,which is particularly important for tea plants grown inorganic tea plantations.Fang Li Chunxia Dong Tianyuan Yang Shilai Bao Wanping Fang William J.Lucas Zhaoliang Zhang 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:3
5Gas sensing capabilities of TiO_(2) porous nanoceramics prepared through premature sintering显示文摘Pure and noble metal(Pt,Pd,and Au)doped TiO_(2)nanoceramics have been prepared from TiO_(2)nanoparticles through traditional pressing and sintering.For those samples sintered at 550℃,a typical premature sintering occurred,which led to the formation of a highly porous microstructure with a Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET)specific surface area of 23 m^(2)/g.At room temperature,only Pt-doped samples showed obvious response to hydrogen,with sensitivities as high as~500 for 1000 ppm H_(2)in N_(2);at 300℃,all samples showed obvious responses to CO,while the responses of noble metal doped samples were much higher than that of the undoped ones.The mechanism for the observed sensing capabilities has been discussed,in which the catalytic effect of Pt for hydrogen is believed responsible for the room-temperature hydrogen sensing capabilities,and the absence of glass frit as commonly used in commercial thick-film metal oxide gas sensors is related to the high sensitivities.It is proposed that much attention should be paid to metal oxide porous nanoceramics in developing gas sensors with high sensitivities and low working temperatures.Yao XIONG Zilong TANG Yu WANG Yongming HU Haoshuang GU Yuanzhi LI Helen Lai Wah CHAN Wanping CHEN 2015Journal of Advanced Ceramics2015,4,2:3

10Magnetism variation of the compressed antiferromagnetic topological insulator EuSn_(2)As_(2)显示文摘We report a comprehensive high-pressure study,up to 21.1 GPa,on the antiferromagnetic topological insulator EuSn_(2)As_(2) achieved through synchrotron X-ray diffraction,Raman scattering,electrical resistance,magnetic resistance,and Hall transport measurements in combination with first-principles calculations.The Néel temperatures determined from resistance are increased from(24±1)to(77±8)K under pressure,which is a result of enhanced magnetic exchange couplings between Eu^(2+) ions yielded by our first-principles calculations.The negative magnetoresistance of EuSn_(2)As_(2) persists to higher temperatures accordingly.However,the enhancement of the observed Néel temperatures deviates from the calculations above 10.0 GPa.In addition,the magnitude of the magnetoresistance,Hall coefficients,and charge carrier densities show abrupt changes between 6.9 and 10.0 GPa.The abrupt changes likely originate from a pressure-induced valence change of Eu ions from a divalent state to a divalent and trivalent mixed state or are related to the structural transition revealed by Raman scattering measurements.Our results provide insight into magnetism variation in EuSn_(2)As_(2) and similar antiferromagnetic topological insulators under pressure.Hualei Sun Cuiqun Chen Yusheng Hou Weiliang Wang Yu Gong Mengwu Huo Lisi Li Jia Yu Wanping Cai Naitian Liu Ruqian Wu Dao-Xin Yao Meng Wang 2021Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2021,64,11:0
11Research on One-shot Drilling of CFRP/2A12 Laminated Structure显示文摘CFRP/2A12 laminated structure due to the large difference in the properties of the material,very easy to produce defects when making holes,affecting the quality of the workpiece,and thus the connection performance of the two materials.The root cause of the poor quality of CFRP/2A12 laminated structure is the difference in material removal mechanism and the complexity of tool processing conditions.Therefore,this paper analyzes the effects of different process parameters on the pore-forming quality of the laminated material through experiments,reveals the change law of cutting force of the CFRP/2A12 laminated structure,and determines the optimal process parameters.The results show:The axial force generated by the drill when it enters half of CFRP is the largest,which is much larger than the axial force generated when drilling 2A12 aluminum alloy plate,and the thickness of the laminated metal plate is great for drilling.The hole formation sequence of the laminated structure has a significant effect on the cutting force.The axial force when the laminated sequence is CFRP/2A12 is smaller than when the laminated sequence is 2A12/CFRP.LI Wanping WANG Kexin BAO Yongjie 2020纤维复合材料2020,37,3:0
12Flammable gases produced by TiO_(2) nanoparticles under magnetic stirring in water显示文摘The friction between nanomaterials and Teflon magnetic stirring rods has recently drawn much attention for its role in dye degradation by magnetic stirring in dark.Presently the friction between TiO_(2) nanoparticles and magnetic stirring rods in water has been deliberately enhanced and explored.As much as 1.00 g TiO_(2) nanoparticles were dispersed in 50 mL water in 100 mL quartz glass reactor,which got gas-closed with about 50 mL air and a Teflon magnetic stirring rod in it.The suspension in the reactor was magnetically stirred in dark.Flammable gases of 22.00 ppm CO,2.45 ppm CH_(4),and 0.75 ppm H_(2) were surprisingly observed after 50 h of magnetic stirring.For reference,only 1.78 ppm CO,2.17 ppm CH_(4),and 0.33 ppm H_(2) were obtained after the same time of magnetic stirring without TiO_(2) nanoparticles.Four magnetic stirring rods were simultaneously employed to further enhance the stirring,and as much as 30.04 ppm CO,2.61 ppm CH_(4),and 8.98 ppm H_(2) were produced after 50 h of magnetic stirring.A mechanism for the catalytic role of TiO_(2) nanoparticles in producing the flammable gases is established,in which mechanical energy is absorbed through friction by TiO_(2) nanoparticles and converted into chemical energy for the reduction of CO_(2) and H_(2)O.This finding clearly demonstrates a great potential for nanostructured semiconductors to utilize mechanical energy through friction for the production of flammable gases.Pengcheng LI Chongyang TANG Xiangheng XIAO Yanmin JIA Wanping CHEN 2022Friction2022,10,7:0
13Advanced optical methods and materials for fabricating 3D tissue scaffolds显示文摘Three-dimensional(3D)printing,also known as additive manufacturing(AM),has undergone a phase of rapid development in the fabrication of customizable and high-precision parts.Thanks to the advancements in 3D printing technologies,it is now a reality to print cells,growth factors,and various biocompatible materials altogether into arbitrarily complex 3D scaffolds with high degree of structural and functional similarities to the native tissue environment.Additionally,with overpowering advantages in molding efficiency,resolution,and a wide selection of applicable materials,optical 3D printing methods have undoubtedly become the most suitable approach for scaffold fabrication in tissue engineering(TE).In this paper,we first provide a comprehensive and up-to-date review of current optical 3D printing methods for scaffold fabrication,including traditional extrusion-based processes,selective laser sintering,stereolithography,and two-photon polymerization etc.Specifically,we review the optical design,materials,and representative applications,followed by fabrication performance comparison.Important metrics include fabrication precision,rate,materials,and application scenarios.Finally,we summarize and compare the advantages and disadvantages of each technique to guide readers in the optics and TE communities to select the most fitting printing approach under different application scenarios.Xiaobo Li Wanping Lu Xiayi Xu Yintao Wang Shih-Chi Chen 2022Light(Advanced Manufacturing)2022,3,3:0

15An ancient whole-genome duplication event and its contribution to flavor compounds in the tea plant (Camellia sinensis)显示文摘Tea,coffee,and cocoa are the three most popular nonalcoholic beverages in the world and have extremely high economic and cultural value.The genomes of four tea plant varieties have recently been sequenced,but there is some debate regarding the characterization of a whole-genome duplication(WGD)event in tea plants.Whether the WGD in the tea plant is shared with other plants in order Ericales and how it contributed to tea plant evolution remained unanswered.Here we re-analyzed the tea plant genome and provided evidence that tea experienced only WGD event after the core-eudicot whole-genome triplication(WGT)event.This WGD was shared by the Polemonioids-Primuloids-Core Ericales(PPC)sections,encompassing at least 17 families in the order Ericales.In addition,our study identified eight pairs of duplicated genes in the catechins biosynthesis pathway,four pairs of duplicated genes in the theanine biosynthesis pathway,and one pair of genes in the caffeine biosynthesis pathway,which were expanded and retained following this WGD.Nearly all these gene pairs were expressed in tea plants,implying the contribution of the WGD.This study shows that in addition to the role of the recent tandem gene duplication in the accumulation of tea flavor-related genes,the WGD may have been another main factor driving the evolution of tea flavor.Ya Wang Fei Chen Yuanchun Ma Taikui Zhang Pengchuan Sun Meifang Lan Fang Li Wanping Fang 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:0
16Recognition for avian influenza virus proteins based on support vector machine and linear discriminant analysis显示文摘Total 200 properties related to structural characteristics were employed to represent structures of 400 HA coded proteins of influenza virus as training samples. Some recognition models for HA proteins of avian influenza virus (AIV) were developed using support vector machine (SVM) and linear discriminant analysis (LDA). The results obtained from LDA are as follows: the identification accuracy (Ria) for training samples is 99.8% and Ria by leave one out cross validation is 99.5%. Both Ria of 99.8% for training samples and Ria of 99.3% by leave one out cross validation are obtained using SVM model, respectively. External 200 HA proteins of influenza virus were used to validate the external predictive power of the resulting model. 17Targeted metabolomics reveals dynamic changes during the manufacturing process of Yuhua tea,a stir-fried green tea显示文摘The chemical composition of Yuhua tea is in a state of constant change during tea processing.However,the dynamic changes in this complex metabolic process remain unclear.Therefore,we detected the changes of compounds in the five stages of processing of Yuhua tea,and carried out metabolomic analysis based on UPLC–MS.In total,898 metabolites were detected in the five different stages.In the spreading and fixation processes,the differences in metabolites were the most significant,with 127 and 150 metabolites,respectively,undergoing significant changes.During the spreading period,the levels of amino acids and their derivatives,as well as flavonoids,increased sharply,and most continued to increase or stabilized after spreading.In addition,only 26 and 95 metabolites changed significantly during the rolling and drying processes,respectively.Orthogonal projections to latent structures-discriminant analysis showed that the metabolomics of tea changed significantly during the manufacturing process,especially amino acids and derivatives,flavonoids and lipids.This study provides a comprehensive overview of the metabolic changes during the processing of stir-fried green tea,which has potential significance for quality control and flavor improvement of tea.Kexin Zhang Taiyu Ren Jieren Liao Shan Wang Zhongwei Zou Yuanchun Ma Fang Li Wanping Fang Xujun Zhu 2021Beverage Plant Research2021,1,1:0
