| 2 | T cell–associated immunoregulation and antiviral effect of oxymatrine in hydrodynamic injection HBV mouse model显示文摘Although oxymatrine(OMT) has been shown to directly inhibit the replication of hepatitis B virus(HBV) in vitro, limited research has been done with this drug in vivo. In the present study, the antiviral effect of OMT was investigated in an immunocompetent mouse model of chronic HBV infection.The infection was achieved by tail vein injection of a large volume of DNA solution. OMT(2.2, 6.7 and20 mg/kg) was administered by daily intraperitoneal injection for 6 weeks. The efficacy of OMT was evaluated by the levels of HBV DNA, hepatitis B surface antigen(HBs Ag), hepatitis B e antigen(HBe Ag)and hepatitis B core antigen(HBc Ag). The immunoregulatory activity of OMT was evaluated by serum ELISA and flow cytometry. Results shows that OMT at 20 mg/kg inhibited HBV replication, and it was more efficient than entecavir(ETV) in the elimination of serum HBs Ag and intrahepatic HBc Ag. Inaddition, OMT accelerated the production of interferon-γ(IFN-γ) in a dose-dependent manner in CD4^+T cells. Our findings demonstrate the beneficial effects of OMT on the enhancement of immunological function and in the control of HBV antigens. | 9 | Prevalence, risk factors, and survival associated with pulmonary hypertension and heart failure among patients with underlying coronary artery disease: a national prospective, multicenter registry study in China显示文摘Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the commonest cause of heart failure (HF), whereas pulmonary hypertension (PH) has not been established or reported in this patient population. Therefore, we assessed the prevalence, risk factors, and survival in CAD-associated HF (CAD-HF) complicated with PH.Methods: Symptomatic CAD-HF patients were continuously enrolled in this prospective, multicenter registry study. Echocardiography, coronary arteriography, left and right heart catheterization (RHC), and other baseline clinical data were recorded. Patients were followed up and their survival was recorded.Results: One hundred and eighty-two CAD-HF patients were enrolled, including 142 with HF with a preserved ejection fraction (heart failure with preserved ejection fraction [HFpEF];left ventricular ejection fraction [LVEF] ≥50%) and 40 with a reduced ejection fraction (heart failure with reduced ejection fraction [HFrEF];LVEF < 50%). PH was diagnosed with RHC in 77.5% of patients. Patients with PH showed worse hemodynamic parameters and higher mortality. HFrEF-PH patients had worse survival than HFpEF-PH patients. CAD-HF patients with an enlarged left ventricular end-diastolic diameter and reduced hemoglobin were at higher risk of PH. Nitrate treatment reduced the risk of PH. Elevated creatinine and mean pulmonary arterial pressure (mPAP), diastolic pressure gradient (DPG) ≥7 mmHg, and previous myocardial infarction (MI) entailed a higher risk of mortality in CAD-HF patients with PH.Conclusions: PH is common in CAD-HF and worsens the hemodynamics and survival in these patients. Left ventricle enlargement and anemia increase the risk of PH in CAD-HF. Patients may benefit from nitrate medications. We point out that a SQUARE distinguisher exists if and only if the degree of the polynomial function between n-bit input which is active and n-bit output which is balanced is 2 n-2. And the algebraic method can also be used to determine the property of a balanced set after passed through a nonlinear S-box, by which in some cases we can find a SQUARE distinguisher with more rounds. The validity of SQUARE attack and the influence of the choice of S-box are also studied. If the round function of a Feistel cipher has a low algebraic degree, a SQUARE attack cannot recover the right keys in some special cases. However, SQUARE attack on SPN ciphers always holds. | 12 | Spatial patterns of vegetation and climate in the North China Plain during the Last Glacial Maximum and Holocene climatic optimum显示文摘Reconstructing the spatial patterns of regional climate and vegetation during specific intervals in the past is important for assessing the possible responses of the ecological environment under future global warming scenarios. In this study, we reconstructed the history of regional vegetation and climate based on six radiocarbon-dated pollen records from the North China Plain. Combining the results with existing pollen records, we reconstruct the paleoenvironment of the North China Plain during the Last Glacial Maximum(LGM) and the Holocene Climatic Optimum(HCO). The results show that changes in the regional vegetation since the LGM were primarily determined by climatic conditions, the geomorphic landscape and by human activity.During the LGM, the climate was cold and dry;mixed broadleaf-coniferous forest and deciduous-evergreen broadleaf forest developed in the southern mountains, and cold-resistant coniferous forest and mixed broadleaf-coniferous forest were present in the northern mountains. The forest cover was relatively low, with mesophytic and hygrophilous meadow occupying the southern part of the plain, and temperate grassland and desert steppe were distributed in the north;Chenopodiaceae-dominated halophytes grew on the exposed continental shelf of the Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea. During the HCO, the climate was warm and wet;deciduous broadleaf forest and deciduous-evergreen broadleaf forest, with subtropical species, developed in the southern mountains, and deciduous broadleaf forest with thermophilic species was present in northern mountains. Although the degree of forest cover was greater than during the LGM, the vegetation of the plain area was still dominated by herbs, while halophytes had migrated inland due to sea level rise. In addition, the expansion of human activities, especially the intensification of cultivation,had a significant influence on the natural vegetation. | 13 | Clinical characteristics of 96 patients with drug-induced acute liver failure:a comparison between Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To compare the causes, clinical symptoms, laboratory test results, and prognosis in patients with acute liver failure(ALF) induced by traditional Chinese medicines(TCM) and by Western Medicines(WM).METHODS: The medical histories of patients who were diagnosed with drug-induced ALF(DALF)(n =96) after hospitalization in the 302 Military Hospital between January 2010 and December 2015 were retrospectively examined.RESULTS: Fifty-eight of the 96 DALF patients(60.4%) had a hepatocellular pattern of DALF, 16 patients(16.7%) had a cholestatic pattern, and 22 patients(22.9%) had a mixed pattern. DALF resolved in 24 patients(25.0%). Twenty-five patients(26.0%)developed chronic liver injury, 43 patients(44.8%)died, and 4 patients(4.2%) underwent liver transplantation. There were 42 ALF patients(43.8%) who received WM, and 32 ALF patients(33.3%) who received TCM. TCM-induced ALF patients had a higher average age [42.4 ± 18.4) vs(33.5 ± 17.9) years,P = 0.04] and higher creatinine and urine nitrogen levels [(155.2 ± 108.8) vs(97.5 ± 130.4) mmol/L, P =0.047;(9.1 ± 7.7) vs(4.3 ± 5.0) mmol/L, P = 0.002, respectively]. Patients with TCM-induced ALF exhibited an increased risk of renal injury [odds ratio(OR),3.75; 95% confidence interval(CI), 1.330-10.577].The 14 patients with TCM-induced ALF who died exhibited higher creatinine levels than the 18 patients with TCM-induced ALF patients who survived[(218.7 ± 111.6) vs(105.8 ± 78.4) mmol/L, P =0.002]. | 15 | Solvent effects on Pt-Ru/C catalyst for methanol electro-oxidation显示文摘Alloying degree,particle size and the level of dispersion are the key structural parameters of Pt-Ru/C catalyst in fuel cells.Solvent(s) used in the preparation process can affect the particle size and alloying degree of the object substance,which lead to a great positive impact on its properties.In this work,three types of solvents and their mixtures were used in preparation of the Pt-Ru/C catalysts by chemical reduction of metal precursors with sodium borohydride at room temperature.The structure of the catalysts was characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The catalytic activity and stability for methanol electro-oxidation were studied by Cyclic Voltammetry(CV) and Chronoamperometry(CA).Pt-Ru/C catalyst prepared in H2O or binary solvents of H2O and isopropanol had large particle size and low alloying degree leading to low catalytic activity and less stability in methanol electro-oxidation.When tetrahydrofuran was added to the above solvent systems,Pt-Ru/C catalyst prepared had smaller particle size and higher alloying degree which resulted in better catalytic activity,lower onset and peak potentials,compared with the above catalysts.Moreover,the catalyst prepared in ternary solvents of isopropanol,water and tetrahydrofuran had the smallest particle size,and the high alloying degree and the dispersion kept unchanged.Therefore,this kind of catalyst showed the highest catalytic activity and good stability for methanol electro-oxidation. | Jinwei Chen Chunping Jiang Hui Lu Lan Feng Xin Yang Liangqiong Li Ruilin Wang | 2009 | Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2009,18,3: | 2 |
| 16 | Metastable liquid properties and rapid crystal growth of Ti-Ni-Al alloy investigated by electrostatic levitation and molecular dynamics simulation显示文摘Electrostatic levitation technique and molecular dynamics simulation were performed to investigate the thermophysical properties,liquid structure and crystal growth dependence on undercooling of Ti_(85)Ni_(10)Al_(5) alloy.The liquid Ti_(85)Ni_(10)Al_(5) alloy was substantially undercooled up to 335 K(0.18T_(L)).As undercooling increased,the potential energy of the liquid alloy decreased and the alloy entered into a high metastable state.At this state,the atoms tended to bond with each other and the clusters were inclined to convert into high-coordinated clusters,as confirmed by the fraction of the high-coordinated clusters variation.The enlarged clusters and enhanced local structure stability contributed to the increase of the thermophysical parameters and crystal growth velocity,and eventually dendrite refinement.The density,the specific heat and the surface tension of liquid alloy exhibited a linear relation with temperature and the shear viscosity of liquid alloy showed exponential variation which showed good agreement with the calculation results by molecular dynamics simulation.The growth velocity first increased slowly and then dramatically once the undercooling exceeded the threshold.The achieved maximum crystal growth velocity was 12.4 m s^(−1) and it was up to 326 times of the value at 94 K undercooling. | XIAO RuiLin RUAN Ying LIN MaoJie QIN JingYu LI Hui HU Liang WEI BingBo | 2021 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,10: | 2 |

| 19 | Bearing capacity of surface circular footings on granular material under low gravity fields显示文摘Low gravity fields have been simulated through magnetic acceleration to conduct experimental study on bearing capacity of circular footings on a type of crushable planetary regolith simulant,which has comparable density and particle size distribution of lunar soil.The loadesettlement responses of surface spread footings are obtained by investigating the relative density,footing size and gravity effects.Applying the hyperbolic asymptote method,normalised foundation stiffness and ultimate bearing capacity are obtained by curve fitting and predicted by power functions using multivariate nonlinear regression.The results show that the nonlinear gravity effect is not negligible,related to stress condition,soil dilatancy and mobilised friction angle.A cone penetration test(CPT)-based method for prediction of bearing capacity is proposed with correlations between ultimate bearing capacity of footings and shallow penetration stiffness of CPTs,avoiding the uncertainties of soil property estimations.Analyses of allowable bearing capacity and footing influence zone in consideration of footing size and gravity effects could therefore improve the design of shallow foundations on the Moon and Mars,and provide new understandings and potential implications to the bearing capacity of shallow foundations on crushable granular material in both terrestrial and extraterrestrial geotechnical engineering. | Pin-Qiang Mo Guoqing Zhou Feng Gao Ruilin Li | 2021 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2021,13,3: | 2 |
