4Microwave absorbing properties and magnetic properties of different carbon nanotubes显示文摘The microwave absorbing properties and magnetic properties of as-grown Fe-filled carbon nanotubes (CNTs), annealed Fe-filled CNTs, and multi-walled CNTs were studied. Vibrating sample magnetometer results showed that the annealed Fe-filled CNTs have the weakest coercivity and strongest saturation magnetization among the three types CNTs, due to the presence of more ferromagnetic α-Fe nanowires. After annealing, the values increased to 291.0 Oe and 28.0 emu/g and the samples showed excellent microwave absorbing properties. 5A draft sequence of the rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) genome显示文摘The sequence of the rice genome holds fundamental information for its biology, including physiology, genetics, development, and evolution, as well as information on many beneficial phenotypes of economic significance. Using a 'whole genome shotgun' approach, we have pro-duced a draft rice genome sequence of Oryza sativa ssp. in-dica, the major crop rice subspecies in China and many other regions of Asia. The draft genome sequence is constructed from over 4.3 million successful sequencing traces with an accumulative total length of 2214.9 Mb. The initial assembly of the non-redundant sequences reached 409.76 Mb in length, based on 3.30 million successful sequencing traces with a total length of 1797.4 Mb from an indica variant cultivar 93-11, giving an estimated coverage of 95.29% of the rice genome with an average base accuracy of higher than 99%. 7Pathway-based analysis for genome-wide association studies of schizophrenia to provide new insight in schizophrenia study显示文摘Schizophrenia (SZ) is an inheritable complex mental disease. There have been several genome-wide association studies (GWASs) of SZ to identify novel genetic susceptibility factors. To further interpret SZ GWASs, pathway-based analysis (PBA), which considers the combined effect of variants and identifies pathways associated with traits, provides a feasible solution to discover the biological function and mechanism of SZ. Furthermore, to investigate the common pathways between SZ and bipolar disorder (BD) will help explore common mechanism between psychiatric phenotypes. We performed a PBA, called improved gene set enrichment analysis (i-GSEA), on 3 independent GWASs of SZ to identify pathways associated with SZ. The results were further compared to the BD-associated pathways identified by i-GSEA for 2 BD GWASs and from literature reports. Our analysis identified a highly statistically significant association between SZ and pathway 'substrate specific channel activity' in all 3 SZ GWASs (false discovery rate (FDR) < 0.05). This association has not been reported elsewhere before. This pathway was also identified by PBA for 2 independent BD GWASs. 8Experimental investigation on dynamic mechanical characteristics and microstructure of steam-cured concrete显示文摘Steam-cured concrete is widely used to manufacture prefabricated units of high-speed railway foundation structure such as girder and track slab.The dynamic mechanical property of steam-cured concrete is one of the key properties affecting service performance of high-speed railway foundation structure.In the present paper,serial macro/micro-experiments were carried out to investigate the dynamic elastic modulus,shear modulus,damping ratio,and microstructure of steam-cured concrete.The relationships between compositions,curing regime,microstructure,and dynamic properties of steam-cured concrete as well as the corresponding mechanisms were discussed.The results indicate that steam-cured concrete in early age has a larger dynamic elastic modulus and shear modulus as well as a smaller damping ratio compared with standard-cured concrete.On the contrary,at a later age a slightly smaller dynamic elastic modulus and a larger damping ratio of steam-cured concrete are observed.Addition of mineral admixture results in a bit lower dynamic elastic modulus and damping ratio of concrete than that of the control specimen without mineral admixtures.The achievements can provide some fundamental suggestions for materials parameters selection during structural design of steam-cured concrete precast element.LONG GuangCheng WANG Meng XIE YouJun MA KunLin 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,10:4

10Surface characterization of metal oxides-supported activated carbon fiber catalysts for simultaneous catalytic hydrolysis of carbonyl sulfide and carbon disulfide显示文摘The sol–gel method was used to synthesize a series of metal oxides-supported activated carbon fiber (ACF) and the simultaneous catalytic hydrolysis activity of carbonyl sulfide (COS)and carbon disulfide (CS2) at relatively low temperatures of 60°C was tested.The effects of preparation conditions on the catalyst properties were investigated,including the kinds and amount of metal oxides and calcination temperatures.The activity tests indicated that catalysts with 5 wt.%Ni after calcining at 400°C (Ni(5)/ACF(400)) had the best performance for the simultaneous catalytic hydrolysis of COS and CS2.The surface and structure properties of prepared ACF were characterized by scanning electron microscope-energy disperse spectroscopy (SEM-EDS),Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET),X-ray diffraction (XRD),carbon dioxidetemperature programmed desorption (CO2-TPD) and diffuse reflectance Fourier transform infrared reflection (DRFTIR).And the metal cation defects were researched by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) method.The characterization results showed that the supporting of Ni on the ACF made the ACF catalyst show alkaline and increased the specific surface area and the number of micropores,then improved catalytic hydrolysis activity.The DRFTIR results revealed that-OH species could facilitate the hydrolysis of COS and CS2;-COO and-C–O species could facilitate the oxidation of catalytic hydrolysate H2S.And the EPR results showed that high calcination temperature conditions provide more active reaction center for the COS and CS2 adsorption.Kunlin Li Chi Wang Ping Ning Kai Li Xin Sun Xin Song Yi Mei 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,10:3
11Integrated DNA-based/biochemical screening for early diagnosis of multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2A (MEN2A)显示文摘Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2A (MEN2A), a subtype of MEN2, is characterized by medullary thyroid cancer, pheochromocytoma, and primary hyperparathyroidism. A Han Chinese pedigree with MEN2A was investigated following confirmation of the proband's diagnosis by pathological findings and DNA/biochemical screening. DNA samples from 4 other family members were collected and exon 5, 8, 10, 11, 13, 16 and 18 of the RET proto-oncogene were sequenced and then analyzed. A missense mutation of TGG (Trp) to TGC (Cys) at codon 634 (the classic MEN2A mutation) in exon 11 of the RET gene was detected in 3 family members, including the proband. Sequencing data were compared with the human gene mutation database. Elevated serum calcitonin level was detected initially; medullary thyroid carcinoma was revealed in the 3 cases and adrenal pheochromocy-toma was also found in the proband. Elective operations were successfully performed on the adrenal and thyroid glands because of pheochromocytoma and medullary thyroid carcinoma. Our case study confirms that integrated DNA-based/biochemical screening is crucial for early diagnosis of MEN2A and is helpful in the screening of their relatives. 12Highly Durable and Fast Response Fabric Strain Sensor for Movement Monitoring Under Extreme Conditions显示文摘The exploration of smart electronic textiles is a common goal to improve people’s quality of life.However,current smart e-textiles still face challenges such as being prone to failure under humid or cold conditions,lack of washing durability and chemical fragility.Herein,a multifunctional strain sensor with a negative resistance change was developed based on the excellent elasticity of knitted fabrics.A reduced graphene oxide(rGO)conductive fabric was first obtained by electrostatic self-assembly of chitosan(CS).Then a strain sensor was prepared using a dip-coating process to adsorb nanoscale silica dioxide and poly(dimethylsiloxane)(PDMS).A broad working range of 60%,a fast response time(22 ms)and stable cycling durability over 4000 cycles were simultaneously achieved using the prepared sensor.Furthermore,the sensor showed excel-lent superhydrophobicity,photothermal effects and UV protection,as graphene,silica and PDMS acted in synergy.This multifunctional sensor could be mounted on human joints to perform tasks,including activity monitoring,medical rehabili-tation evaluation and gesture recognition,due to its superior electromechanical capabilities.Based on its multiple superior properties,this sensor could be used as winter sportswear for athletes to track their actions without being impacted by water and as a warmer to ensure the wearer's comfort.Dongxing Lu Shiqin Liao Yao Chu Yibing Cai Qufu Wei Kunlin Chen Qingqing Wang 2023Advanced Fiber Materials2023,5,1:2

14Source apportionment of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) in a sediment core from Lake Dagze Co, Tibetan Plateau, China: Comparison of three receptor models显示文摘Receptor models are a useful tool for identifying sources of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) in multiple environmental media. In this study, three different receptor models(including the principal component analysis-multiple linear regression(PCA-MLR), positive matrix factorization(PMF), and Unmix models) were used to apportion the sources of 16 priority PAHs in a sediment core of Lake Dagze Co. The ΣPAHs(sum of all 16 measured PAHs) concentrations ranged from 51.89 to 132.82 ng/g with an average of 80.39 ng/g. TheΣ PAHs were dominated by 2-3 ring PAHs, accounting for 80.12% on average, thereby indicating that they mainly originated from biomass and coal combustion and/or from long-range atmospheric transportation. The three models produced consistent source apportionment results. The greatest contributor to ΣPAHs was biomass combustion, followed by coal combustion, vehicle emissions, and petrogenic sources. Moreover, the temporal variation of the common sources was well-correlated among models. The multi-method comparison and evaluation results showed that all three models were useful tools for source apportionment of PAHs, with the PMF model providing better results than the PCA-MLR and Unmix models. The temporal trends of factor contributions were verified by PAHs with different ring numbers. Significant correlations were found between the simulated concentrations of each source factor and the PAHs with different ring numbers(P<0.01), except for the petrogenic source identified by the Unmix model(P>0.05).
