1Burden of care in caregivers of patients with alcohol use disorder and schizophrenia and its association with anxiety, depression and quality of life显示文摘Background Caregivers play a pivotal role in providing care for mentally ill patients.Increase in caregiver burden can make them vulnerable to mental illness themselves.Aims We assessed the severity of burden of care and its association with depression,anxiety and quality of life among caregivers of patients with alcohol use disorder(AUD)and schizophrenia.Methods This was an observational,cross-sectional,single-centred study of 50 consecutive caregivers of patients with AUD and schizophrenia.Participants were recruited from the psychiatry outpatient department of a tertiary care hospital between January and June 2017.The caregivers were further assessed by demographic details,Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale for assessment of depression and anxiety,Zarit Burden Interview for assessment of caregiver burden and WHO Quality Of Life-BREF for assessment of quality of life.Statistical data were analysed using GraphPad InStat V.3.06(California).Multiple linear regression analysis was applied to identify the predictors of caregiver burden.Results Burden of care experienced by caregivers of patients with AUD is as high as that of caregivers of patients with schizophrenia(U=1142.5,p=0.46).Caregivers experiencing high burden of care are likely to have symptoms of anxiety(U=22,p<0.001),depression(U=32,p<0.001)and poor quality of life(U=84.5,p<0.001).Female caregivers are likely to experience higher burden of care(U=819.5,p=0.006).For caregivers of patients with schizophrenia,anxiety,environmental health,socioeconomic status and patients,occupation can predict burden of care,while for caregivers of patients with AUD,depression and environmental health can predict burden of care.Conclusion Our study suggests that caregivers of patients with AUD experience burden of care as high as that of caregivers of patients with schizophrenia.Caregivers with high burden of care are more likely to have depression,anxiety and poor quality of life.Trial registration number CTRI/2017/03/008224.Sneha Vadher Rishi Desai Bharat Pancha Ashok Vala Imran Jahangirali Ratnani Mihir P Rupani Kinjal Vasava 2020General Psychiatry2020,33,4:7

8ZnO-chitosan/Rectorite Nanocomposite Exhibiting High Photocatalytic Activities under Visible-light Irradiation显示文摘Chitosan(CS),hydrated zinc acetate,and rectorite(REC) were used as raw materials to prepare CS-embedded zinc oxide(ZnO) nanoparticle by a chemical precipitation process.Hydrogen-bonded REC-loaded ZnO-CS nanoparticle was to form ZnO-CS/REC nanocomposite photocatalyst,its morphology and structure were analyzed by means of FTIR,XRD,TGA,SEM,and TEM.The effects of the catalyst dosage,methyl orange(MO) initial concentration and solution pH on photocatalytic performance were also discussed.The experimental results show that the ZnO-CS/REC nanocomposite has a particle size of 100 nm with good dispersion and uniformity.Under irradiation of visible light,0.6 g/L photocatalyst was used to degrade MO in solution for 90 min at pH 6,then the MO solution(10 mg/L) was decolored by more than 99%,indicating that the ZnO-CS/REC nanocomposite exhibited highly photocatalytic degradation activity.Therefore,the photodegradation kinetic mechanism of MO in aqueous solution is presumed.LI Shiqian Pen-Chi Chiang DING Ling Kinjal JShah CHEN Qinghua CHEN Sheng 2020Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2020,35,2:1

10An approach based on deep learning for Indian sign language translation显示文摘Purpose–According to the Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre(ISLRTC),India has approximately 300 certified human interpreters to help people with hearing loss.This paper aims to address the issue of Indian Sign Language(ISL)sentence recognition and translation into semantically equivalent English text in a signer-independent mode.Design/methodology/approach–This study presents an approach that translates ISL sentences into English text using the MobileNetV2 model and Neural Machine Translation(NMT).The authors have created an ISL corpus from the Brown corpus using ISL grammar rules to perform machine translation.The authors’approach converts ISL videos of the newly created dataset into ISL gloss sequences using the MobileNetV2 model and the recognized ISL gloss sequence is then fed to a machine translation module that generates an English sentence for each ISL sentence.Findings–As per the experimental results,pretrained MobileNetV2 model was proven the best-suited model for the recognition of ISL sentences and NMT provided better results than Statistical Machine Translation(SMT)to convert ISL text into English text.The automatic and human evaluation of the proposed approach yielded accuracies of 83.3 and 86.1%,respectively.Research limitations/implications–It can be seen that the neural machine translation systems produced translations with repetitions of other translated words,strange translations when the total number of words per sentence is increased and one or more unexpected terms that had no relation to the source text on occasion.The most common type of error is the mistranslation of places,numbers and dates.Although this has little effect on the overall structure of the translated sentence,it indicates that the embedding learned for these few words could be improved.Originality/value–Sign language recognition and translation is a crucial step toward improving communication between the deaf and the rest of society.Because of the shortage of human interpreters,an alternative approach is desired to help people achieve smooth communication with the Deaf.To motivate research in this field,the authors generated an ISL corpus of 13,720 sentences and a video dataset of 47,880 ISL videos.As there is no public dataset available for ISl videos incorporating signs released by ISLRTC,the authors created a new video dataset and ISL corpus.Kinjal Bhargavkumar Mistree Devendra Thakor Brijesh Bhatt 2023International Journal of Intelligent Computing and Cybernetics2023,16,3:0
11Valorisation of fruit waste for enhanced exopolysaccharide production by Xanthomonas campestries using statistical optimisation of medium and process显示文摘The aim of this research work was to enhance the fermentative production of exopolysaccharide(EPS)with mixed fruit waste as a key substrate.Xanothomonas campestries was isolated from spoiled orange and its EPS production efficiency was determined using EPS medium.Prior to optimisation,the production was 3.4 g/L,upon optimizing the medium the production improved to 9.2 g/L.The medium formulation was studied by sequential addition of medium components and replacement of sugar with mixed fruit waste.In formulated medium,the production enhanced to 11.1 g/L.For further optimisation,the response surface methodology was used,which resulted in the enhancement of production to 14.5 g/L.The scale-up study was undertaken in a 10 L shake flask and fermenter.In 10 L flask EPS,production was 14.45 g/L in 100 h,whereas in 10 L fermenter it was 21.10 g/L in 60h only.The optimisation studies gave nearly 500%(6.2fold)enhanced EPS production and dwindle in fermentation time.Replacement of sucrose with fruit waste extract made the process environment-friendly;omission of L-cystine and use of 50%reduced amount of sodium acetate in the medium lowered the production cost of EPS.The developed process resulted in the utilization of fruit waste and was also useful in solving the fruit waste disposal problem.Avni Vaishnav Kinjal Upadhyay Manoj Koradiya Devayani Tipre Shailesh Dave 2022Food Bioscience2022,46,2:0

13A methodology for calibration of traffic micro-simulator for urban heterogeneous traffic operations显示文摘Traffic micro-simulation is a widely accepted tool in many countries for the evaluation and assessment of alternative design schemes.However,for several developing countries,replicating heterogeneous,non-lane based traffic in a micro-simulation framework is gaining increased importance and still remains a challenge due to its complexity.The present study demonstrates a methodology to calibrate a traffic micro-simulation model giving due consideration to vehicle-class specific driver behavior in an urban Indian scenario for a midblock section and an intersection approach in Kolkata.The sensitive parameters affecting the driver behavior were identified for every vehicle type using Latin Hyper cube design,taking vehicle class specific travel time as a performance measure.Linear regression models were developed for each vehicle class considering the sensitive driving behavior parameters.The models highlight that the dependency of measure of effectiveness(MOE)of one vehicle type is not only limited to its own driver behavior but also on parameters of other vehicle classes.A genetic algorithm based optimization was adopted to obtain optimal parameter sets for different vehicle classes.The optimum values were found to vary significantly across all vehicle classes at a 95%confidence level.Single and multi-criteria calibration principles are also implemented to yield much more realistic results and subsequently minimizing weighted error for all vehicle classes.Palak Maheshwary Kinjal Bhattacharyya Bhargab Maitra Manfred Boltze 2020Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering(English Edition)2020,7,4:0
14ERCC1 expression in patients with colorectal cancer:a pilot study显示文摘Aim:Excision repair cross complementation group 1(ERCC1)has a key role in enhanced DNA damage repair caused by oxaliplatin-based therapy and may lead to resistance of these platinum drugs in colorectal cancer(CRC)patients.Hence,the present preliminary study aimed to explore the role of ERCC1 C/T polymorphism at codon 118 as well as its immunoreactivity in patients with primary CRC.Methods:ERCC1 polymorphism was studied using PCR-RFLP and ERCC1 protein expression was examined by immunohistochemistry in 50 CRC patients.Results:ERCC1 codon 118 C/T polymorphism analysis reported the predominance of C/T(52%)genotype as compared to C/C(38%)and T/T(10%)genotypes.Furthermore,72%of patients showed positive ERCC1 protein expression.Significant correlation was not observed between clinicopathological parameters and ERCC1 polymorphism,while ERCC1 protein expression significantly correlated only with tumor site(colon vs.rectum)(P=0.046).Further,the present study failed to demonstrate the role of ERCC1 C118T polymorphism or protein expression as useful prognostic markers in CRC patients.Conclusion:ERCC1-positive protein expression may be a useful marker for rectal cancer patients.However,further evaluation in a larger set of CRC patients is required to better understand the role of ERCC1.Kinjal K.Gajjar Deep Kumari Yadav Toral P.Kobawala Trupti I.Trivedi Hemangini H.Vora Nandita R.Ghosh 2016Journal of Cancer Metastasis and Treatment2016,2,1:0
