| 1 | Spatial Distribution of Magnetic Properties and Selected Heavy Metals in Calcareous Soils as Affected by Land Use in the Isfahan Region,Central Iran显示文摘Anthropogenic activities have caused the accumulation of heavy metals in the soil environment.Pollution of the soils significantly reduces environmental quality and affects human health.In many recent studies,magnetic susceptibility measurements have been used for pollution monitoring.The objective of this research was to determine the spatial variability of magnetic properties and selected heavy metals and the effect of land use on their variability in the surface soils of the Isfahan region,Central Iran.A total of 158 composite surface(0-5 cm) samples of calcareous soils were collected from an area of about 700 km 2,located along a cross-border transect from Isfahan City to a steel plant,covering urban,industrial,agricultural,and uncultivated land uses.Concentrations of copper(Cu),zinc(Zn),lead(Pb),manganese(Mn),iron(Fe),nickel(Ni),chromium(Cr),and cobalt(Co) and magnetic parameters,magnetic susceptibility at low frequency(χlf),natural remanent magnetization(NRM),saturation isothermal remanent magnetization(SIRM),and isothermal remanent magnetization at the field of 100 mT(IRM 100mT) and the backfield of 100 mT(IRM 100mT),were measured in all the soil samples.Results showed that magnetic susceptibility in the urban and industrial land topsoils(0-5 cm) samples was significantly higher than that in the agricultural and uncultivated land soils in the study area.Concentrations of Cu,Zn,Pb,Mn,and Fe were positively correlated with magnetic properties(χlf,IRM 100mT,SIRM,IRM 100mT,and NRM),which could be attributed to their inputs from traffic emissions and industrial activities at the study sites.Ni and Cr concentrations showed significant negative correlations with magnetic properties.No significant correlation was found between Co concentration and magnetic parameters.The Tomlinson pollution load index(PLI) showed significant correlation with the magnetic properties(χlf,IRM 100mT,SIRM,IRM 100mT,and NRM).The spatial distribution of the selected heavy metals and χlf in the study area suggested that activities at the urban and industrial land sites caused greater pollution as compared to that at the study sites of other land uses.The concentrations of Cu and Zn seemed to have been affected by anthropogenic sources,whereas Ni,Cr,and Co were mainly controlled by natural sources in the study area.Moreover,the concentrations of soil Pb and Fe in the study area could be affected by both lithologic and anthropogenic sources.The magnetic parameters appeared to be a proxy measure for the degree of heavy metal contamination and could be a potential method for the detection and mapping of contaminated soils. | Z. | 6 | Effect of Stimulating the BL67 Point on Fetal Correction from Breech to Cephalic Presentation and Natural Delivery after the 36 Weeks of Pregnancy: A Randomized Clinical Trial显示文摘Objective:Various techniques are proposed for changing fetal presentation.We aimed to assess the effect of BL67 point stimulation on correcting breech presentation and natural delivery in women at 36-38 gestational weeks.Methods:A parallel single blinded randomized clinical trial was conducted on 72 eligible pregnant women with breech presentation at the 36 weeks of pregnancy.The subjects were divided into two groups-intervention(n=36)and control groups(n=36)by block randomization method.The intervention group stimulated the BL67 point by self-administration for 20 min once a day for 2 weeks.Finally,the appearance of cephalic presentation and rate of vaginal delivery was compared between the groups(n1=n2=32)using the Chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression.Results:The correction of breech to cephalic presentation occurred in 53.1% of patients in the intervention group.The adjusted relative risk(RR)for fetal correction from breech to cephalic was 1.80(RR=1.80,95%confidence interval[CI],1.13-5.17).It was shown that the stimulation of the BL67 point increased the correction of breech to cephalic presentation.In addition,the rate of vaginal delivery increased by>4-fold(RR=4.16,95%CI,2.54-6.82)by correction to cephalic presentation.Moreover,65.6%of mothers in intervention group and 90.6%in the control group underwent cesarean section.Conclusions:The stimulation of the BL67 point is a safe,inexpensive,and effective method that can be self-administered at home for fetal correction from breech to cephalic presentation in women with breech presentations during 36-38 gestational weeks.This promotes uncomplicated natural childbirth. | Khatereh Sourani Abolfazl Mohammadbeigi Nasim Khademi Azadeh Asgarian Imaneh Khaki Zohreh Ahmadi | 2020 | Reproductive and Developmental Medicine2020,4,2: | 3 |

| 10 | Effect of selenium application on phenylalanine ammonia-lyase(PAL)activity,phenol leakage and total phenolic content in garlic(Allium sativum L.)under NaCl stress显示文摘It is well known that salinity has badly effect on plant growth all over the world and greatly reduces crop production in the affected regions.Selenium can function as an antioxidant in plants and also in low concentration can promotes plant growth and produce tolerance against stress.This study was conducted in order to determine the effects of selenium(Se)application(0,4,8 and 16 mg L^-1)on phenylalanine ammonia-lyase(PAL)activity,phenol leakage and total phenolic content of garlic under salt stress(0,30,60 and 90 mM NaCl).The highest PAL activity was recorded at 60 and 90 mM NaCl salinity with application of 8mg Se L^-1.Also,when Se was added to the salt-stress garlic,the level of phenol leakage was decreased significantly at two levels of NaCl concentration(by 52%and 40%at 30 mM NaCl with application of 4 and 16 mg Se L^-1,and by 50%at 90 mM NaCl with application of 4mg Se L^-1,respectively)in comparison to the salt-stressed garlic without Se.The results showed that Se can increase the salt tolerance of garlic by protecting the cell membrane against lipid peroxidation.The highest concentration of phenols was recorded at 90 mM NaCl salinity level with application of 4 and 8 mg Se L^-1,that respectively produced 59%and 51%higher phenols than control treatment without Se.So,application of optimal Se level can increase the potential of garlic in a medium with relatively high level of NaCl. | Rozita Khademi Astaneh Sahebali Bolandnazar Fariborz Zaare Nahandi Shahin Oustan | 2018 | Information Processing in Agriculture2018,5,3: | 2 |
