1Electrospun Nanofibrous Materials for Wound Healing显示文摘Wound dressing materials which are capable of meeting the demands of accelerating wound closure and promoting wound healing process have being highly desired.Electrospun nanofibrous materials show great application potentials for wound healing owing to relatively large surface area,better mimicry of native extracellular matrix,adjustable waterproofness and breathability,and programmable drug delivery process.In this review article,we begin with a discussion of wound healing process and current commercial wound dressing materials.Then,we emphasize on electrospun nanofibrous materials for wound dressing,covering the efforts for controlling fiber alignment and morphology,constructing 3D scaffolds,developing waterproof-breathable membrane,governing drug delivery performance,and regulating stem cell behavior.Finally,we finish with challenges and future prospects of electrospun nanofibrous materials for wound dressings.Yuping Dong Yuqi Zheng Keyan Zhang Yueming Yao Lihuan Wang Xiaoran Li Jianyong Yu Bin Ding 2020Advanced Fiber Materials2020,2,4:10
2Searching for novel materials via 4f chemistry显示文摘4f chemistry studies the chemical bonding characteristics of fifteen lanthanide (Ln) elements in the periodic table and their wide applications in materials sciences and engineering, which forms the scientific fundamentals ofⅥperiodic elements in the periodic table of elements. Orbital hybridization modes of Ln elements clarify their chemical bonding nature in all reaction systems. Wide coordination number (CN) option, ranging from 2 to 16, is the reason why Ln elements are the treasure of new materials, therefore, searching for novel materials may be well carried out via the rational design of coordination environment of central Ln cations to stabilize their variable energy states. 3Response of Pinus taiwanensis growth to climate changes at its southern limit of Daiyun Mountain, China's Mainland Fujian Province显示文摘The Pinus taiwanensis trees of a Chinese endemic species form pure forests at infertile sites in humid subtropical China, which can aid soil reservation and ecological resiliency at such sites. Herein, we used dendrochronological methods to investigate the growth patterns and their relationship with climate by analyzing 158 cores of 79 P. taiwanensis trees at 4 sites in their southernmost distribution in China's Mainland at Daiyun Mountain in Fujian Province. Tree growths at sites with favorable conditions generally showed an age-related growth trend, which decreased from approximately 5 mm to 0.5 mm in about a century. Trees in moderately stressed environments established high growth in their juvenile periods but were highly susceptible to environmental stresses such as a sharp growth decline in the 1990 s. The temperature in February and the moisture in July are the major limiting factors for most of the tree growths, except for a few extremely stressed P. taiwanensis trees. The growth of the dwarf P. taiwanensis trees, with all ring diameters of the first 20 years less than 4 mm, is mainly limited by the dry climate in May. 4Abrupt vegetation shifts caused by gradual climate changes in central Asia during the Holocene显示文摘Understanding the response of ecosystems to past climate is critical for evaluating the impacts of future climate changes.A large-scale abrupt shift of vegetation in response to the Holocene gradual climate changes has been well documented for the Sahara-Sahel ecosystem. Whether such a non-linear response is of universal significance remains to be further addressed. Here,we examine the vegetation-climate relationships in central Asia based on a compilation of 38 high-quality pollen records. The results show that the Holocene vegetation experienced two major abrupt shifts, one in the early Holocene(Shift I, establishing shift) and another in the late Holocene(Shift II, collapsing shift), while the mid-Holocene vegetation remained rather stable. The timings of these shifts in different regions are asynchronous, which are not readily linkable with any known abrupt climate shifts,but are highly correlated with the local rainfalls. These new findings suggest that the observed vegetation shifts are attributable to the threshold effects of the orbital-induced gradual climate changes. During the early Holocene, the orbital-induced precipitation increase would have first reached the threshold for vegetation 'establishment' for moister areas, but significantly later for drier areas. In contrast, the orbital-induced precipitation decrease during the late Holocene would have first reached the threshold, and led to the vegetation 'collapse' for drier areas, but delayed for moister areas. The well-known 4.2 kyr BP drought event and human intervention would have also helped the vegetation collapses at some sites. These interpretations are strongly supported by our surface pollen-climate analyses and ecosystem simulations. 6Hardness of materials:studies at levels from atoms to crystals显示文摘Based on the electron-holding energy per unit volume,we extend the concept of hardness to atomic stiffness,ionic stiffness and bond hardness,investigating the nature of material hardness at these three levels. We find that the stiffness of isolated atoms or ions has no direct connection with the hardness of materials,whereas material hardness is directly related to bond hardness,which is es-sentially determined by the electron-holding energy of its constituent chemical bonds per unit volume. We establish a model for identifying the hardness of materials on the basis of bond hardness. 7Cloning and characterization of Methoprene-tolerant(Met)and Kruppel homolog 1(Kr-h1)genes in the wheat blossom midge,Sitodiplosis mosellana显示文摘Juvenile hormone(JH),a growth regulator,inhibits ecdysteroid-induced meta-morphosis and controls insect development and diapause.Methoprene-tolerant(Met)and Krippel homolog I(Kr-h1)are two proteins involved in JH action.To gain some insight into their function in development of Sitodiplosis mosellana,an insect pest undergoing obligatory larval diapause at the mature 3rd instar stage,we cloned full-length complemen-tary DNAs of Met and Kr-h1 from this specics.SmMet encoded a putative protein,which contained three domains typical of the bHLH-PAS family and eight conserved amino acid residues important for JH binding.SmKr-h1 encoded a protein showing high sequence homology to its counterparts in other specics,and contained all eight highly conserved Zn-finger motifs for DNA-binding.Expression patterns of SmMet and SmKr hl were de-velopmentally regulated and JH III responsive as well.Their mRNA abundance increased as larvae entered carly 3rd instar,pre-diapause and maintenance stages,and peaked during post-diapause quiescence,a pattern correlated with JH titers in this species.Different from reduced expression of SmMer,SmKr-h1 mRNA increased at mid-to-late period of post-diapause development.Topical application of JH II on diapausing larvac also induced the two genes in a dose-dependent manner.Expression of SmuMer and SmKr-h1 clearly declined in the pre-pupal phase,and was significantly higher in female adults than male adults.These results suggest that JH-responsive SmMet and SmKr-h1 might play key roles in diapause induction and maintenance as well as in post-diapause quiescence and adult reproduction,whereas metamorphosis from larvae to pupac might be correlated with their reduced expression.Wei-Ning Cheng Xue-Jiao Li Jia-Jia Zhao Keyan Zhu-Salzman 2020Insect Science2020,27,2:4
8Difference in Tree Growth Responses to Climate at the Upper Treeline: Qilian Juniper in the Anyemaqen Mountains显示文摘Three ring-width chronologies were developed from Qilian Juniper (Sabina przewalskii Kom.) at the upper treeline along a west-east gradient in the Anyemaqen Mountains. Most chronological statistics, except for mean sensitivity (MS), decreased from west to east. The first principal component (PC1) loadings indicated that stands in a similar climate condition were most important to the variability of radial growth. PC2 loadings decreased from west to east, suggesting the difference of tree-growth between eastern and western Anyemaqen Mountains. Correlations between standard chronologies and climatic factors revealed different climatic in?uences on radial growth along a west-east gradient in the study area. Temperature of warm season (July-August) was important to the radial growth at the upper treeline in the whole study area. Precipitation of current May was an important limiting factor of tree growth only in the western (drier) upper treeline, whereas precipitation of current September limited tree growth in the eastern (wetter) upper treeline. Response function analysis results showed that there were regional differences between tree growth and climatic factors in various sampling sites of the whole study area. Temperature and precipitation were the important factors influencing tree growth in western (drier) upper treeline. 11Vegetation and climate change during Marine Isotope Stage 3 in China显示文摘Fossil pollen records from 45 sites across China were evaluated and synthesized to document vegetation and climate change during Marine Isotope Stage 3(MIS 3)at 60–27 ka and to understand the large-scale controls.During MIS3, vegetation type was dominantly forest in eastern China, forest steppe/meadow in the north and Tibetan Plateau, and steppe desert in northwestern arid China. We developed a semi-quantitative vegetation index to reflect change in plant abundance(by inferring the general climate conditions), with a vegetation score from 1to 3 based on the different vegetation types inferred from pollen data at individual sites at intervals of 2,000 years.The reconstructed vegetation index shows higher values during MIS 3, especially during the period 53–40 ka, than at the Last Glacial Maximum. Our results also suggest that climate on the basis of vegetation change was cooler and drier during MIS 3 than during the Holocene optimum;however, MIS 3 vegetation was probably similar to modern vegetation. The close relationship between vegetation change, insolation and Asian summer monsoon strength suggests that climate variations, probably in both temperature and precipitation, are the primary drivers of regional vegetation change. 12New development of concept of electronegativity显示文摘The concept of electronegativity (EN), which was proposed by Pauling in 1932, is closely related to such properties of molecules as the polarizability, hardness (softness) and charge distribution, and is an important theoretical basis for judging the properties of substances. With the development of new materials and the increase of interdisciplinary cooperation, EN has been a basic atomic parameter which is widely used in the fields of chemistry, physics and materials science. The development of EN has involved three stages, atomic EN, ionic EN and bond EN. The ionic EN, which is the EN values of elements in different valence states by including the chemical environment of atoms, accurately describes various physical and chemical properties of ions and compounds. The bond EN is a bridge linking atomic EN and the properties of materials, which helps us to establish the quantitative correlation between macroscopic properties and microscopic electronic structures of materials. The concepts of ionic EN and bond EN broaden the scope of EN theory, and play important roles in the design of novel materials. 13Quantitative prediction and evaluation of geothermal resource areas in the southwest section of the Mid-Spine Belt of Beautiful China显示文摘The geothermal resources in the southwest section of the Mid-Spine Belt of Beautiful China are abundant,but the quantitative prediction and evaluation of geothermal resources are very difficult. Based on geographic information system (GIS) and remote sensing (RS) platforms,six impact factors,namely land surface temperature,fault density,Gutenberg–Liszt B value,formation combination entropy,distance to river and aeromagnetic anomaly were selected. Through the establishment of the certainty factor model (CF),weights of the information entropy certainty factor model (ICF) and weights of the evidence certainty factor model (ECF),the geothermal potential in the study area were predicted quantitatively. Based on the ECF results,the six main geothermal resource areas were delineated. The results show that (1) ECF had high prediction accuracy (success index is 0.00405%,area ratio is 0.867);(2) The geothermal resource areas obtained were Ganzi–Ya’an–Liangshan,Panzhihua–Liangshan,Dali–Chuxiong,Nujiang–Baoshan,Diqing–Dali,and Lijiang–Diqing. 16A Thermoregulatory Flexible Phase Change Nonwoven for All‑Season High‑Efficiency Wearable Thermal Management显示文摘Phase change materials have a key role for wearable thermal management,but suffer from poor water vapor permeability,low enthalpy value and weak shape stability caused by liquid phase leakage and intrinsic rigidity of solid–liquid phase change materials.Herein,we report for the first time a versatile strategy for designed assembly of high-enthalpy flexible phase change nonwovens(GB-PCN)by wet-spinning hybrid grapheneboron nitride(GB)fiber and subsequent impregnating paraffins(e.g.,eicosane,octadecane).As a result,our GB-PCN exhibited an unprecedented enthalpy value of 206.0 J g^(−1),excellent thermal reliability and anti-leakage capacity,superb thermal cycling ability of 97.6%after 1000 cycles,and ultrahigh water vapor permeability(close to the cotton),outperforming the reported PCM films and fibers to date.Notably,the wearable thermal management systems based on GB-PCN for both clothing and face mask were demonstrated,which can maintain the human body at a comfortable temperature range for a significantly long time.Therefore,our results demonstrate huge potential of GB-PCN for human-wearable passive thermal management in real scenarios.Hanqing Liu Feng Zhou Xiaoyu Shi Keyan Sun Yan Kou Pratteek Das Yangeng Li Xinyu Zhang Srikanth Mateti Ying Chen Zhong‑Shuai Wu Quan Shi 2023Nano-Micro Letters2023,15,2:1

19In-situ encapsulation ofα-Fe_(2)O_(3) nanoparticles into ZnFe_(2)O_(4) micro-sized capsules as high-performance lithium-ion battery anodes显示文摘Transition metal oxides as anode materials for high-performance lithium-ion batteries suffer from severe capacity decay,originating primarily from particle pulverization upon volume expansion/shrinkage and the intrinsically sluggish electron/ion transport.Herein,in-situ encapsulation ofα-Fe_(2)O_(3) nanoparticles into micro-sized ZnFe_(2)O_(4) capsules is facilely fulfilled through a co-precipitation process and followed by heat-treatment at optimal calcination temperature.The porous ZnFe_(2)O_(4) scaffold affords a synergistic confinement effect to suppress the grain growth ofα-Fe2 O3 nanocrystals during the calcination process and to accommodate the stress generated by volume expansion during the charge/discharge process,leading to an enhanced interfacial conductivity and inhibit electrode pulverization and mechanical failure in the active material.With these merits,the preparedα-Fe_(2)O_(3)/Fe_(2)O_(4) composite delivers prolonged cycling stability and improved rate capability with a higher specific capacity than soleα-Fe_(2)O_(3) and Fe_(2)O_(4).The discharge capacity is retained at 700 mAh g-1 after 500 cycles at 200 mA g^(-1) and 940 mAh g^(-1) after 50 cycles at 100 m A g^(-1).This work provides a new perspective in designing transition metal oxides for advanced lithium-ion batteries with superior electrochemical properties.Wei Wu Yongshan Wei Hongjiang Chen Keyan Wei Zhitong Li Jianhui He Libo Deng Lei Yao Haitao Yang 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,16:1
