| 1 | Sensing for advancing mining automation capability:A review of underground automation technology development显示文摘This paper highlights the role of automation technologies for improving the safety, productivity, and environmental sustainability of underground coal mining processes. This is accomplished by reviewing the impact that the introduction of automation technology has made through the longwall shearer automation research program of Longwall Automation Steering Committee(LASC). This result has been achieved through close integration of sensing, processing, and control technologies into the longwall mining process. Key to the success of the automation solution has been the development of new sensing methods to accurately measure the location of longwall equipment and the spatial configuration of coal seam geology. The relevance of system interoperability and open communications standards for facilitating effective automation is also discussed. | 3 | Longwall automation: Delivering enabling technology to achieve safer and more productive underground mining显示文摘The ongoing need to deliver improved safety, productivity and environmental benefit in coal mining presents an open challenge as well as a powerful incentive to develop new and improved solutions.This paper assesses the critical role that enabling technologies have played in the delivery of remote and automated capability for longwall mining. A brief historical account is given to highlight key technical contributions which have influenced the direction and development of present-day longwall technology. The current state of longwall automation is discussed with particular attention drawn to the technologies that enable automated capability. Outcomes are presented from an independently conducted case study that assessed the impact that CSIRO's LASC longwall automation research has made to the longwall mining industry in Australia. Importantly, this study reveals how uptake of this innovative technology has significantly benefitted coal mine productivity, improved working conditions for personnel and enhanced environmental outcomes. These benefits have been widely adopted with CSIRO automation technology being used in 60 per cent of all Australian underground operations.International deployment of the technology is also emerging. | 4 | Developing selective mining capability for longwall shearers using thermal infrared-based seam tracking显示文摘Longwall mining continues to remain the most efficient method for underground coal recovery. A key aspect in achieving safe and productive longwall mining is to ensure that the shearer is always correctly positioned within the coal seam. At present, this machine positioning task is the role of longwall personnel who must simultaneously monitor the longwall coal face and the shearer's cutting drum position to infer the geological trends of the coal seam. This is a labour intensive task which has negative impacts on the consistency and quality of coal production. As a solution to this problem, this paper presents a sensing method to automatically track geological coal seam features on the longwall face, known as marker bands, using thermal infrared imaging. These non-visible marker bands are geological features that link strongly to the horizontal trends present in layered coal seams. Tracking these line-like features allows the generation of a vertical datum that can be used to maintain the shearer in a position for optimal coal extraction. Details on the theory of thermal infrared imaging are given, as well as practical aspects associated with machine-based implementation underground. The feature detection and tracking tasks are given with real measurements to demonstrate the efficacy of the approach. A brief review of major longwall automation challenges is given followed by a review of the insights and benefits associated with the LASC longwall shearer automation solution. | 7 | Osteocyte dysfunction promotes osteoarthritis through MMP13-dependent suppression of subchondral bone homeostasis显示文摘Osteoarthritis(OA),long considered a primary disorder of articular cartilage,is commonly associated with subchondral bone sclerosis.However,the cellular mechanisms responsible for changes to subchondral bone in OA,and the extent to which these changes are drivers of or a secondary reaction to cartilage degeneration,remain unclear.In knee joints from human patients with end-stage OA,we found evidence of profound defects in osteocyte function.Suppression of osteocyte perilacunar/canalicular remodeling(PLR)was most severe in the medial compartment of OA subchondral bone,with lower protease expression,diminished canalicular networks,and disorganized and hypermineralized extracellular matrix.As a step toward evaluating the causality of PLR suppression in OA,we ablated the PLR enzyme MMP13 in osteocytes while leaving chondrocytic MMP13 intact,using Cre recombinase driven by the 9.6-kb DMP1 promoter.Not only did osteocytic MMP13 deficiency suppress PLR in cortical and subchondral bone,but it also compromised cartilage.Even in the absence of injury,osteocytic MMP13 deficiency was sufficient to reduce cartilage proteoglycan content,change chondrocyte production of collagen II,aggrecan,and MMP13,and increase the incidence of cartilage lesions,consistent with early OA.Thus,in humans and mice,defects in PLR coincide with cartilage defects.Osteocyte-derived MMP13 emerges as a critical regulator of cartilage homeostasis,likely via its effects on PLR.Together,these findings implicate osteocytes in bone-cartilage crosstalk in the joint and suggest a causal role for suppressed perilacunar/canalicular remodeling in osteoarthritis. | Courtney MMazur Jonathon JWoo Cristal SYee Aaron JFields Claire Acevedo Karsyn NBailey Serra Kaya Tristan WFowler Jeffrey CLotz Alexis Dang Alfred CKuo Thomas PVail Tamara Alliston | 2019 | Bone Research2019,7,4: | 10 |

IBD is most frequently diagnosed during peak female reproductive years, with 25% of women with IBD conceiving after their diagnosis. While IBD therapy has improved dramatically with enhanced surveillance and more abundant and powerful treatment options, IBD disease can have important effects on pregnancy and presents several challenges for maintaining optimal outcomes for mothers with IBD and the developing fetus/neonate. Women with IBD, the medical team treating them(both gastroenterologists and obstetricians/gynecologists) must often make highly complicated choices regarding conception, pregnancy, and post-natal care(particularly breastfeeding) related to their choice of treatment options at different phases of pregnancy as well as post-partum. This current review discusses current concerns and recommendations for pregnancy duringIBD and is intended for gastroenterologists, general practitioners and IBD patients intending to become,(or already) pregnant, and their families. We have addressed patterns of IBD inheritance, effects of IBD on fertility and conception(in both men and women), the effects of IBD disease activity on maintenance of pregnancy and outcomes, risks of diagnostic procedures during pregnancy and potential risks and complications associated with different classes of IBD therapeutics. | 14 | Salmonella typhimurium myopericarditis: A case report and review of literature显示文摘BACKGROUND Non-typhoidal salmonella(NTS)is a rare,but well-established cause of myopericarditis.Presenting symptoms may be varied,however often revolve around the dual presentation of both myopericarditis and infectious diarrhoea.Given the rarity of NTS related myopericarditis,we conducted a systematic review of the literature,identifying 41 previously reported cases.CASE SUMMARY We present the case of an otherwise healthy 39-year old male,presenting with chest pain in the setting of documented Salmonella typhimurium infection.After further investigation with echocardiogram and laboratory blood tests,a diagnosis of NTS associated myopericarditis was made,and the patient received antibiotic treatment with an excellent clinical outcome.Overall,myopericarditis is rare in NTS.Although treatment for myopericarditis has not been well established,there are guidelines for the treatment of NTS infection.In our review,we found that the majority of NTS cases has been pericarditis(27/42,64.3%),with an average age of 48.3 years,and 71.4%being male.The average mortality across all cases was 31%.CONCLUSION Myopericarditis is a rare,but potentially serious complication of NTS infection,associated with an increased morbidity and mortality. | David Jin Chien-Ying Kao Jonathon Darby Sonny Palmer | 2020 | World Journal of Cardiology2020,12,1: | 3 |

While there have been significant efforts to develop quality metrics that ensure high-value care of these patients, wide variations in clinical practice exist. In this opinion review, we discuss the quality gap in the care of patients with cirrhosis, including low levels of compliance with recommended cancer screening and other clinical outcome and patient-reported outcome measures. We posit that innovations in telemedicine and mobile health (mHealth) should play a key role in closing the quality gaps in liver disease management. We highlight interventions that have been performed to date in liver disease and heart failurefrom successful teleconsultation interventions in the care of veterans with cirrhosis to the use of telemonitoring to reduce hospital readmissions and decrease mortality rates in heart failure. Telemedicine and mHealth can effectively address unmet needs in the care of patients with cirrhosis by increasing preventative care, expanding outreach to rural communities, and increasing high-value care.
