| 1 | Sequential spinal and intracranial dural metastases in gastric adenocarcinoma: A case report显示文摘Dural metastasis from primary gastric adenocarcinoma has been rarely reported, and its prognosis is very poor because it frequently leads to acute subdural hematoma. Here, we describe a case with sequential spinal and cranial dural metastases from gastric adenocarcinoma without subdural hematoma. A 43-yearold woman with gastric adenocarcinoma and wellcontrolled peritoneal carcinomatosis presented with back pain, right radiating leg pain, left facial palsy, and hearing loss. Magnetic resonance imaging of the spine and brain revealed dural masses at the lumbosacral junction with invasion to the L5 and S1 nerve roots and at the skull base with invasion to the internal auditory canal. She was treated with local radiotherapy, and her pain and neurologic symptoms improved after palliative radiotherapy. | 4 | Development of PLGA micro-and nanorods with high capacity of surface ligand conjugation for enhanced targeted delivery显示文摘Particle shape has been recognized as one of the key properties of nanoparticles in biomedical applications including targeted drug delivery.Targeting ability of shape-engineered particles depends largely on targeting ligands conjugated on the particle surface.However,poor capacity for surface ligand conjugation remains a problem in anisotropic nanoparticles made with biodegradable polymers such as PLGA.In this study,we prepared anisotropic PLGA nanoparticles with abundant conjugatable surface functional groups by a film stretching-based fabrication method with poly(ethylene-alt-maleic acid)(PEMA).Scanning electron microscopy images showed that microrods and nanorods were successfully fabricated by the PEMA-based film stretching method.The presence of surface carboxylic acid groups was confirmed by confocal microscopy and zeta potential measurements.Using the improved film-stretching method,the amount of protein conjugated to the surface of nanorods was increased three-fold.Transferrin-conjugated,nanorods fabricated by the improved method exhibited higher binding and internalization than unmodified counterparts.Therefore,the PEMA-based film-stretching system presented in this study would be a promising fabrication method for non-spherical biodegradable polymeric micro-and nanoparticles with high capacity of surface modifications for enhanced targeted delivery. | Jiafu Cao Jin-Seok Choi Murtada A.Oshi Juho Lee Nurhasni Hasan Jihyun Kim Jin-Wook Yoo | 2019 | Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2019，14，1： | 1 |

| 7 | Development of a Specific CHIKV-E2 Monoclonal Antibody for Chikungunya Diagnosis显示文摘Chikungunya fever is a vector-borne viral disease transmitted to humans by chikungunya virus(CHIKV)-infected mosquitoes.There have been many outbreaks of CHIKV infection worldwide,and the virus poses ongoing risks to global health.To prevent and control CHIKV infection,it is important to improve the current CHIKV diagnostic approaches to allow for the detection of low CHIKV concentrations and to correctly distinguish CHIKV infections from those due to other mosquito-transmitted viruses,including dengue virus(DENV),Japanese encephalitis virus(JEV),and Zika virus(ZIKV).Here,we produced monoclonal antibodies(mAbs)against the CHIKV envelope 2 protein(CHIKV-E2)and compared their sensitivity and specificity with commercially available mAbs using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays(ELISA).Two anti-CHIKV-E2 mAbs,19-1 and 21-1,showed higher binding affinities to CHIKV-E2 protein than the commercial mAbs did.In particular,the 19-1 mAb had the strongest binding affinity to inactivated CHIKV.Moreover,the 19-1 mAb had very little cross-reactivity with other mosquito-borne viruses,such as ZIKV,JEV,and DENV.These results suggest that the newly produced anti-CHIKV-E2 mAb,19-1,could he used for CHIKV diagnostic approaches. | Jaemoo Kim Jihyun Yang Young Bong Kim Hee-Jung Lee Sehyun Kim Haryoung Poo | 2019 | Virologica Sinica2019，34，5： | 1 |
