Accuracy of urea breath test in Helicobacter pylori infection: Meta-analysis显示文摘AIM: To quantitatively summarize and appraise the available evidence of urea breath test(UBT) use to diagnose Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) infection in patients with dyspepsia and provide pooled diagnostic accuracy measures.METHODS: We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane library and other databases for studies addressing the value of UBT in the diagnosis of H. pylori infection. We included cross-sectional studies that evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of UBT in adult patients with dyspeptic symptoms. Risk of bias was assessed using QUADAS(Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies)-2 tool. Diagnostic accuracy measures were pooled using the random-effects model. Subgroup analysis was conducted by UBT type(13C vs 14C) and by measurement technique(Infrared spectrometry vs Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry).RESULTS: Out of 1380 studies identified, only 23 met the eligibility criteria. Fourteen studies(61%) evaluated 13 C UBT and 9 studies(39%) evaluated 14 C UBT. There was significant variation in the type of reference standard tests used across studies.Pooled sensitivity was 0.96(95%CI: 0.95-0.97) andpooled specificity was 0.93(95%CI: 0.91-0.94). Likelihood ratio for a positive test was 12 and for a negative test was 0.05 with an area under thecurve of 0.985. Meta-analyses were associated with a significant statistical heterogeneity that remained unexplained after subgroup analysis. The included studies had a moderate risk of bias.CONCLUSION: UBT has high diagnostic accuracy for detecting H. pylori infection in patients with dyspepsia. The reliability of diagnostic meta-analytic estimates however is limited by significant heterogeneity. | Mazen Ferwana Imad Abdulmajeed Ali Alhajiahmed Wedad Madani Belal Firwana Rim Hasan Osama Altayar Paul J Limburg Mohammad Hassan Murad Bandar Knawy | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,4: | 45

Hydrogen Gas Sensor Based on Nanocrystalline SnO_2 Thin Film Grown on Bare Si Substrates显示文摘In this paper, high-quality nanocrystalline SnO_2 thin film was grown on bare Si(100) substrates by a sol–gel method. A metal–semiconductor–metal gas sensor was fabricated using nanocrystalline SnO_2 thin film and palladium(Pd)metal. The contact between Pd and nanocrystalline SnO_2 film is tunable. Ohmic barrier contact was formed without addition of glycerin, while Schottky contact formed by adding glycerin. Two kinds of sensor devices with Schottky contact were fabricated(Device 1: 8 h, 500 °C; Device 2: 10 h, 400 °C). The room temperature sensitivity for hydrogen(H_2) was120 and 95 % in 1000 ppm H_2, and the low power consumption was 65 and 86 l W for two devices, respectively. At higher temperature of 125 °C, the sensitivity was increased to 195 and 160 %, respectively. The sensing measurements were repeatable at various temperatures(room temperature, 75, 125 °C) for over 50 min. It was found that Device 1 has better sensitivity than Device 2 due to its better crystallinity. These findings indicate that the sensors fabricated on bare Si by adding glycerin to the sol solution have strong ability to detect H_2 gas under different concentrations and temperatures. | Imad H.Kadhim H.Abu Hassan Q.N.Abdullah | 2016 | Nano-Micro Letters2016,8,1: | 9
Intrahepatic distribution of hepatitis B virus antigens in patients with and without hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM: To study the intrahepatic expression of hepatitis B surface antigen(HBs Ag) and hepatitis B core antigen(HBc Ag) in chronic hepatitis B patients with and without hepatocellular carcinoma. METHODS: A total of 33 chronic hepatitis B patients(mean age of 40.3 ± 2.5 years), comprising of 14 HBe Ag positive and 19 HBe Ag negative patients; and 13 patients with hepatitis B virus related hepatocellular carcinoma(mean age of 49.6 ± 4.7 years), were included in our study. Immunohistochemical staining for HBc Ag and HBs Ag was done using standard streptavidin-biotin-immunoperoxidase technique on paraffin-embedded liver biopsies. The HBc Agand HBs Ag staining distributions and patterns were described according to a modified classification system. RESULTS: Compared to the HBe Ag negative patients, the HBe Ag positive patients were younger, had higher mean HBV DNA and alanine transaminases levels. All the HBe Ag positive patients had intrahepatic HBc Ag staining; predominantly with 'diffuse' distribution(79%) and 'mixed cytoplasmic/nuclear ' pattern(79%). In comparison, only 5% of the HBe Ag-negative patients had intrahepatic HBc Ag staining. However, the intrahepatic HBs Ag staining has wider distribution among the HBe Ag negative patients, namely; majority of the HBe Ag negative cases had 'patchy' HBs Ag distribution compared to 'rare' distribution among the HBe Ag positive cases. All but one patient with HCC were HBe Ag negative with either undetectable HBV DNA or very low level of viremia. Intrahepatic HBc Ag and HBs Ag were seen in 13(100%) and 10(77%) of the HCC patients respectively. Interestingly, among the 9 HCC patients on anti-viral therapy with suppressed HBV DNA, HBc Ag and HBs Ag were detected in tumor tissues but not the adjacent liver in 4(44%) and 1(11%) patient respectively. CONCLUSION: Isolated intrahepatic HBc Ag and HBs Ag can be present in tumors of patients with suppressed HBV DNA on antiviral therapy; that may predispose them to cancer development. | Parham Safaie Mugilan Poongkunran Ping-Ping Kuang Asad Javaid Carl Jacobs Rebecca Pohlmann Imad Nasser Daryl TY Lau | 2016 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2016,22,12: | 5
Dynamic analysis of falling weight deflectometer显示文摘Falling weight deflectometer(FWD) testing has been used to evaluate structural condition of pavements to predict the layer moduli using backcalculation process. However, the predicted pavement layer moduli sometimes may not be accurate even if computed and measured deflection basin has fulfilled the standard and is in concurrence with certain tolerable limits. The characteristics of pavement structure, including pavement layer thickness condition and temperature variation, affect the predicted pavement structural capacity and back calculated layer modulus. The main objective of this study is to analyze the FWD test results of flexible pavement in Western Australia to predict the pavement structural capacity.Collected data includes,in addition to FWD measurements, core data and pavement distress surveys. Results showed that the dynamic analysis of falling weight deflectometer test and prediction for the strength of character of flexible pavement layer moduli have been achieved, and algorithms for interpretation of the deflection basin have been improved. The variations of moduli of all layers along the length of sections for majority of the projects are accurate and consistent with measured and computed prediction. However, some of the projects had some inconsistent with modulus values along the length of the sections. Results are reasonable but consideration should be taken to fix varied pavement layers moduli sections. | Ainalem Nega Hamid Nikraz Imad L.Al-Qadi | 2016 | Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering(English Edition)2016,3,5: | 5
Chemically induced changes in the geotechnical response of cementing paste backfill in shaking table test显示文摘Cemented paste backfill(CPB)is extensively used for underground mine support and/or tailings management. However,CPB behavior under cyclic loadings might be affected by the chemistry of its porewater, which often contains sulphate ions.Till today,no studies have addressed the effect of sulphate on the response of CPB to cyclic loadings by using shaking table technique. This study presents new findings of assessing the effect of the sulphate in the pore water of CPB on its geotechnical response to cyclic loading by using shaking table.CPB mixtures were prepared(with and without sulphate),poured into a flexible laminar shear box, cured to 4 h,and then exposed to cyclic loading using one-dimensional(1D)shaking table.Several parameters(e.g.pore water pressure, settlement, lateral deformation, acceleration, electrical conductivity, effective stress, and liquefaction susceptibility)were monitored or determined before, during, and after shaking.Obtained results indicate that the sulphate-bearing CPB cured to 4 h can be prone to liquefaction under the studied conditions.However,sulphate-free CPB samples are resistant to liquefaction. These results are expected to contribute to a better understanding of the effect of water chemistry on the cyclic behavior of CPB,consequently enhancing the cost-effective design of CPB structures. | Imad Alainachi Mamadou Fall | 2021 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2021,13,3: | 4
QoS Support in TDMA-Based Mobile Ad Hoc Networks显示文摘Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are gaining a lot of attention in research lately due to their importance in enabling mobile wireless nodes to communicate without any existing wired or predetermined infrastructures. Furthermore,in order to support the growing need for multimedia and realtime applications, quality of service (QoS) support by the networking protocol is required. Several important QoS parameters that are needed by such applications can be identified. They include bandwidth, end-to-end delay, delay jitter, and bit error rate. A good amount of research has been developed in this area covering different issues and challenges such as developing routing protocols that support bandwidth reservation and delay management. In this paper, the current state of research for QoS support in TDMA-based MANETs at different layers of the networking model is presented and categorized. In addition, the current issues and future challenges involved in this exciting area of research are also included. | Imad Jawhar 吴杰 | 2005 | Journal of Computer Science & Technology2005,20,6: | 3

Technical efficiency of hybrid maize growers: A stochastic frontier model approach显示文摘This study investigated the effect of credit constraints and credit unconstraints on the technical efficiency of hybrid maize growers in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province(KPK) of Pakistan. The primary data were collected by a direct elicitation method from 510 maize growers of KPK Province. Stochastic frontier model techniques were used for technical efficiency analyses. The results revealed that the mean technical efficiency difference between the two groups was 10.2%. The results of technical inefficiency effect modeling demonstrated that education of the household head, family size, number of married family members, off-farm income, farming experience, tractor drill, water irrigation through a lined course, certified seed, extension services, household saving variables, and a credit size variable had positive effects on technical efficiency for both credit constrained farmers(CCFs) and credit unconstrained farmers(UCCFs). In addition, age of household head and fragmented land values had negative effects on technical efficiency for both groups. However, the interest rate had positive and negative impacts on the technical efficiency of CCFs and UCCFs, respectively. Our results have significant implications for policies related to land use, interest rate, and banking sector expansion in the rural areas of Pakistan. | Imad Ali HUO Xue-xi Imran Khan Hashmat Ali Khan Baz Sufyan Ullah Khan | 2019 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2019,18,10: | 3
Rates and impact of hepatitis on human immunodeficiency virus infection in a large African cohort显示文摘AIM:To determine the rates and impact of hepatitis B virus(HBV) and hepatitis C virus(HCV) infections on response to long-term highly active antiretroviral therapy(HAART) in a large human immunodeficiency virus(HIV) population in Nigeria.METHODS:HBV and HCV as well as HIV infections are endemic in sub Saharan Africa. This was a retrospective cohort study of 19 408 adults who were recruited between June 2004 and December 2010 in the AIDS Prevention Initiative in Nigeria in Nigeria programme at Jos University Teaching Hospital.Serological assays, including HBV surface antigen(HBsAg) and hepatitis C antibody were used to categorise hepatitis status of the patients.HBsAg was determined using enzyme immunoassay(EIA)(Monolisa HBsAg Ultra3;Bio-Rad).HCV antibody was tested using third generation EIA(DIA.PRO Diagnostic,Bioprobes srl,Milan,Italy).HIV RNA levels were measured using Roche COBAS Amplicor HIV-1 monitor test version 1.5(Roche Diagnostics,GmbH,Mannheim,Germany) with a detection limit of 400 copies/mL.Flow cytometry was used to determine CD4+ cell count(Partec,GmbH Munster,Germany).Comparison of categorical and continuous variables were achieved using Pearson's χ 2 and Kruskal Wallis tests respectively,on MedCalc for Windows, version 9.5.0.0(MedCalc Software,Mariakerke,Belgium).RESULTS:With an overall hepatitis screening rate of over 90% for each virus;HBV,HCV and HBV/HCV were detected in 3162(17.8%),1983(11.3%) and 453(2.5%) HIV infected adults respectively. The rate of liver disease was low,but highest among HIV monoinfected patients(29,0.11%),followed by HBV coinfected patients(15,0.08%).Patients with HBV coinfection and triple infection had higher log 10 HIV RNA loads(HBV:4.6 copies/mL vs HIV only:4.5 copies/mL,P<0.0001) and more severe immune suppression(HBV:645,55.4%;HBV/HCV:97,56.7%) prior to initiation of HAART compared to HIV mono-infected patients(1852,48.6%)(P<0.0001).Of 3025 patients who were 4.4 years on HAART and whose CD4 cell counts results at baseline and end of follow up were available for analyses,CD4 increase was significantly lower in those with HBV co-infection(HBV:144 cells/mm3 ;HBV/HCV:105 cells/mm3) than in those with HCV co-infection(165 cells/mm3) and HIV mono-infection(150 cells/mm3)(P=0.0008).CONCLUSION:High rates of HBV and HCV infections were found in this HIV cohort.CD4 recovery was significantly diminished in patients with HBV co-infection. | Nimzing Gwamzhi Ladep Patricia Aladi Agaba Oche Agbaji Auwal Muazu Placid Ugoagwu Godwin Imade Graham Cooke Sheena McCormack Simon David Taylor-Robinson John Idoko Phyllis Kanki | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,10: | 3

Screening of biological activities of Polygonum maritimum L.from A lgerian coast显示文摘Objective:To investigate the antioxidant and the antibacterial activities of crude extract from aerial part of Polygonum maritimumL.(Polygonaceae)(P.maritimum)and to find new actives biomolecules. Methods:The whole plant was collected from the Rechgoune coast(West of Algeria),and methanolic crude extract of aerial parts ofP.maritimum(PMCE)was prepared. The extract was tested against different bacterial strain and tested for his ability to neutralize free radical(DPPH)and to scavenge the H2O2.Results:PMCE had a very high content of total phenol, which was(352.49依18.03)mg/g dry weight, expressed as gallic acid equivalent.PMCE exhibited excellent antioxidant activity,as measured using DPPH and H2O2 scavenging assays. It also showed a high antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacterial strains:Bacillus cereus,Bacillus subtilisandStaphylococcus aureus with an highest MIC of 120μg/mL.Conclusions:The antioxidant and antibacterial activity of the PMCE is probably due to phenolic compounds present in the extract. The contemporary presence of antioxidant and antibacterialactivities in the PMCE suggests that this plant may be a source of bioactive substances with multifaceted activity. | Imad Abdelhamid El-Haci Fawzia Atik Bekkara Wissame Mazari Fay al Hassani Mohamed AmineDidi | 2013 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2013,3,8: | 2
Application of AHP and a mathematical index to estimate livability in tourist districts:The case of Al Qasba in Sharjah显示文摘Urban planners must ensure that urban public spaces are enjoyable to use to create a lively city that expresses their culture and traditions and welcomes social diversity. This study aims to develop a theoretical index for assessing the livability levels in tourist districts. Therefore,a survey-based study accompanied by a literature review is used to derive criteria for livability. In addition to using the analytic hierarchy process to develop an importa ncebased hierarchy of criteria, mathematical analysis is applied to derive the livability index.Furthermore, one of Sharjah's well-known public spaces,Al Qasba Tourist District,is assessed as a case study. This study discussed the main concepts and factors of livability in urban public spaces to examine the livable extent of Qasba and the significanee of criteria. Results show that the current livability level in Al Qasba is less than 50%,confirming its urgent need for further urban improvement. This study explores the livability assessment criteria and their influencing parameters.Using the suggested conceptual livability in dexen ables decision makers to assess the livability level, analyze the in fluencing factors, and suggest solutions to improve the overall livability levels of open public spaces. | Emad Mushtaha Imad Alsyouf Luai Al Labadl Rawan Hamad Noor Khatib Maitha Al Mutawa | 2020 | Frontiers of Architectural Research2020,9,4: | 2

NEURO FUZZY MODEL FOR PREDICTING THE DYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF BEAMS显示文摘An adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system(ANFIS) is introduced to predict the dynamic behavior of beams. The effects of axial forces and large displacements are considered in the analysis. A database of tests for the dynamic characteristics of beams is developed from the experimental tests. The responses of nonlinear vibration force for the single and multiple-stepped beams are calculated from the finite element method(FEM), experimental tests and neuro-fuzzy model for comparison. The neuro-fuzzy model provides a general framework for the combination of neural networks and fuzzy logic. It is more flexible with more options of incorporating the fuzzy nature of the real-world system and is an useful estimation tool for the dynamic characteristics of beams. Therefore, ANFIS can be a useful tool for dynamic behaviour analysis of multiple-stepped beams subjected to axial loads and large displacement. | Imad O.Bachi Nabeel Abdulrazzaq Zeng He | 2014 | Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2014,27,1: | 2

Two-point compression ultrasonography: Enough to rule out lower extremity deep venous thrombosis?显示文摘BACKGROUND: Deep venous thrombosis(DVT) is a major cause of morbidity and is a common presenting complaint to the emergency department(ED). Point-of-care two-point compression ultrasonography has evolved as a quick and effective way of diagnosing DVT. The purpose of this study is to validate the prevalence and distribution of venous thrombi isolated to proximal lower extremity veins, other than common femoral and popliteal veins in patients with DVT.METHODS: This is a single-center retrospective study that looked at patients presenting to the ED of a tertiary care hospital between January 2014 and August 2018. The clinical presentation and laboratory and imaging results were obtained using the hospital's electronic medical record.RESULTS: A total of 2,507 patients underwent a lower extremity duplex ultrasound during the study period. Among them, 379(15%) were included in the study. The percentages of isolated thrombi to the femoral vein and deep femoral vein were 7.92% and 0.53%, respectively. When the patients were stratified into the two groups of isolated DVT and two-point compression DVT, there were no statistically significant differences in the laboratory results between both groups. However, immobilized patients and patients with recent surgeries were more likely to have an isolated DVT.CONCLUSIONS: Thrombi isolated to proximal lower extremity veins other than the common femoral and popliteal veins make up 8.45% of DVTs. Given this significant number of missed DVTs, the authors recommend the addition of the femoral and deep femoral veins to the two-point compression exam. | Ralphe Bou Chebl Nader El Souki Mirabelle Geha Imad Majzoub Rima Kaddoura Hady Zgheib | 2021 | World Journal of Emergency Medicine2021,12,4: | 2
