2Heterotic Group Classification of 63 Inbred Lines and Hybrid Purity Identification by Using SSR Markers in Winter Cabbage(Brassica Oleracea L. var. capitata)显示文摘Winter cabbage is an important crop cultivated through winter in the region near the Yangtze River, enabling the supply of fresh cabbage there at that time of year. However, a problem has emerged regarding the newly developed parents of winter cabbage, which is completely different from spring and autumn cabbage, namely, how to combine these parents to breed an elite hybrid. To classify the heterotic groups and improve the efficiency of parent selection in winter cabbage breeding, 20 polymorphic SSR markers were selected to screen 63 winter cabbage inbred lines. Seventeen pairs among the 20 SSR markers amplified polymorphic bands. These primers amplified two to six bands,with an average of 2.8 bands per primer, and a total of 47 polymorphic bands were generated in the 63 inbred lines. These lines included flatheaded morphotype and round-headed morphotype, thus they were separately classified into heterotic groups based on the SSR markers. The flat-headed morphotype contained 21 inbred lines and was classified into three heterotic groups, named Hanchun 4, Jiali, and Dongsheng, in accordance with the representative germplasm contained in each group. The round-headed morphotype contained 42 inbred lines and was classified into five heterotic groups, named Parte, Bejo1039, YK-143, SCA002, and Golden B90. Meanwhile, parent analysis of 20 developed elite combinations showed that their parents were all distributed in different heterotic groups, indicating that the group classification was reasonable,which can provide a basis for further parent selection in winter cabbage breeding. 4Utilization of Ogura CMS germplasm with the clubroot resistance gene by fertility restoration and cytoplasm replacement in Brassica oleracea L显示文摘Clubroot disease,a major plant root disease caused by Plasmodiophora brassicae,has become one of the most destructive diseases among cultivated cruciferous vegetables.However,clubroot-resistant Brassica oleracea materials are rare.A few clubroot-resistant cabbage varieties are available on the market,but all are Ogura cytoplasmic male sterile(CMS)types.Therefore,in this study,to reutilize the clubroot-resistant Ogura CMS germplasm of cabbage,a new fertility-restored Ogura CMS material,16Q2-11,was used as a bridge to transfer the clubroot resistance(CR)gene from the Ogura CMS cytoplasm to the normal cytoplasm by a two-step method(a fertility restoration and cytoplasm replacement method).In the first cross for fertility restoration of Ogura CMS clubroot-resistant cabbage(FRCRC),16Q2-11 was used as a restorer to cross with Ogura CMS materials containing the CR gene CRb2.Eleven Rfo-positive progenies were generated,of which four contained CRb2:F8-514,F8-620,F8-732 and F8-839.After inoculation with race 4 of P.brassicae,these four CRb2-positive individuals showed resistance.Furthermore,F8-514 and F8-839 were then used as male parents in the second cross of FRCRC to cross with cabbage inbred lines,resulting in the successful introgression of the CRb2 gene into the inbred lines.All offspring produced from this step of cross,which had a normal cytoplasm,showed a high resistance to race 4 of P.brassicae and could be utilized for the breeding of clubrootresistant cabbage varieties in the future.This is the first time that the Ogura CMS restorer has been used to restore the fertility of Ogura CMS clubroot-resistant cabbages,which could improve germplasm diversity in cabbage and provide a reference method for using CMS germplasm in Brassica crops.Wenjing Ren Zhiyuan Li Fengqing Han Bin Zhang Xing Li Zhiyuan Fang Limei Yang Mu Zhuang Honghao Lv Yumei Liu Yong Wang Hailong Yu Yangyong Zhang 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:7

7Carbonaceous Nanofibers-titanium Dioxide Nanocomposites: Synthesis and Use as a Platform for Removal of Dye Pollutants显示文摘A mild chemistry route was developed to prepare carbonaceous nanofibers-titanium dioxide(CNF-TiO_2) nanocomposites for removal of dye pollutants. In the process of the template-directed hydrothermal carbonization(HTC), ultrathin Te nanowires were adopted as templates and glucose as the carbon source, and TiO_2 was decorated on CNF via the hydrolysis of tetrabutyltitanate in the presence of CNF in ethanol. The as-prepared materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), energy-dispersive X-ray(EDX) and X-ray diffraction(XRD). SEM and TEM observations displayed that TiO_2 nanoparticles were anchored on the CNF. EDX and XRD data confirmed that the assynthesized samples were CNF-TiO_2, and TiO_2 belonged to anatase titania. Taking advantage of combined benefits of carbonaceous nanofibers and titanium dioxide, these CNF-TiO_2 nanocomposites exhibited higher removal efficiency in a short time and showed good reusability. It was showed that over 97% of Rhodamine B could be removed in 15 min without generating the solid and liquid wastes. The removal efficiency of dyes was still over 80% after reuse in five cycles. 9Energy Absorption and Deformation Mechanism of Lotus-type Porous Coppers in Perpendicular Direction显示文摘As metallic foams used for energy absorption in the automotive and aerospace industries, recently invented lotus-type porous metals are viewed as potential energy absorbers. Yet, solid conclusion on their eligibility as energy absorbers is still in question, particularly when compression is in the direction perpendicular to the axial orientation of cylindrical pores. In this work, the energy absorption of lotus-type porous coppers in the perpendicular direction is investigated at strain rates from 0.001 s^(-1) to^2400 s^(-1). The energy absorption capacity and the energy absorption efficiency are calculated to be4–16 k J/kg and 0.32–0.7, respectively, slightly inferior to metal foams and the same porous solid compressed in the parallel direction due to the shortened extent of the plateau stress region. The deformation mechanism is examined experimentally in conjunction with finite element modeling. Both suggest that gradual squeeze and collapse of pores are the mechanisms accommodating the energy absorption. 12Structural engineering design of carbon dots for lubrication显示文摘Carbon dots(CDs)have opened up a new field of carbon nanomaterials and successively attracted increasing attention since their discovery in 2004.Owing to their ultrasmall size,tunable surface functional groups,excellent dispersibility,attractive stability,low toxicity,environmental friendliness,facile synthesis and low-cost precursors,CDs have been developed as green and promising frictionreducing and anti-wear materials in lubrication science,applied to energy conservation and extension of mechanical service life in recent years.However,there are few reviews focusing on the application of CDs in the important field of lubrication.In this review,we comprehensively summarize the development of CDs in lubrication for the first time.Firstly,three strategies for structural engineering design of CDs to improve their tribological characteristics are fully analyzed,in terms of size and shape control,surface modification and heteroatom doping.Secondly,the advance in lubrication application of CDs,including CDs as additives for lubricants,greases,gel and magnetorheological fluids as well as CDs as lubricating coatings,is systematically highlighted.Thirdly,the lubricating mechanisms of CDs as additives are introduced in detail.Furthermore,the remaining major challenges and opportunities for CDs in lubrication field are discussed and outlined.Chuang He Shuang E Honghao Yan Xiaojie Li 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,9:1

14Critical involvement of lysyl oxidase in seizure-induced neuronal damage through ERK-Alox5-dependent ferroptosis and its therapeutic implications显示文摘Recent insights collectively suggest the important roles of lysyl oxidase(LysOX)in the pathological processes of several acute and chronic neurological diseases,but the molecular regulatory mechanisms remain elusive.Herein,we explore the regulatory role of LysOX in the seizure-induced ferroptotic cell death of neurons.Mechanistically,LysOX promotes ferroptosis-associated lipid peroxidation in neurons via activating extracellular regulated protein kinase(ERK)-dependent 5-lipoxygenase(Alox5)signaling.In addition,overexpression of LysOX via adeno-associated viral vector(AAV)-based gene transfer enhances ferroptosis sensitivity and aggravates seizure-induced hippocampal damage.Our studies show that pharmacological inhibition of LysOX withβ-aminopropionitrile(BAPN)significantly blocks seizure-induced ferroptosis and thereby alleviates neuronal damage,while the BAPN-associated cardiotoxicity and neurotoxicity could further be reduced through encapsulation with bioresponsive amorphous calcium carbonate-based nanocarriers.These findings unveil a previously unrecognized LysOX-ERK-Alox5 pathway for ferroptosis regulation during seizure-induced neuronal damage.Suppressing this pathway may yield therapeutic implications for restoring seizure-induced neuronal injury.Xiaoyuan Mao Xuan Wang Mingzhu Jin Qin Li Jining Jia Menghuan Li Honghao Zhou Zhaoqian Liu Weilin Jin Yanli Zhao Zhong Luo 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,9:1
15Modulating proton binding energy on the tungsten carbide nanowires surfaces for boosting hydrogen evolution in acid显示文摘ungsten carbides have attracted wide attentions as Pt substitute electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), due to their good stability in an acid environment and Pt-like behaviour in hydrolysis. However, quantum chemistry calculations predict that the strong tungsten-hydrogen bonding hinders hydrogen desorption and restricts the overall catalytic activity. Synergistic modulation of host and guest electronic interaction can change the local work function of a compound, and therefore, improve its electrocatalytic activity over either of the elements individually. Herein, we develop a creative and facile solid-state approach to synthesize self-supported carbon-encapsulated single-phase WC hybrid nanowires arrays (nanoarrays) as HER catalyst. The theoretical calculations reveal that carbon encapsulation modifies the Gibbs free energy of H* values for the WC adsorption sites, endowing a more favorable C@WC active site for HER. The experimental results exhibit that the hybrid WC nanoarrays possess remarkable Pt-like catalytic behavior, with superior activity and stability in an acidic media, which can be compared to the best non-noble metal catalysts reported to date for hydrogen evolution reaction. 16Downstream signaling of reactive oxygen species,protein kinase C epsilon translocation and delayed neuroprotection in sevoflurane preconditioned rats following cerebral ischemia/reperfusion显示文摘BACKGROUND:Brief exposure to the anesthetic sevoflurane results in delayed neuroprotection. However,few studies have addressed delayed neuroprotection after preconditioning with a single administration of sevoflurane. OBJECTIVE:To explore the relationship between a single preconditioning administration of sevoflurane and reactive oxygen species production and protein kinase C-epsilon(PKC-ε) translocation. DESIGN,TIME,AND SETTING:The randomized,controlled,animal experiment was conducted at the Central Laboratory,Xiangya Hospital,Central South University,China from November 2007 to April 2008. MATERIALS:A total of 120 healthy,male,Sprague Dawley rats were equally and randomly assigned into five groups:sham operation,ischemia/reperfusion,sevoflurane,2-mercaptopropionylglycine (2-MPG,a selective reactive oxygen species scavenger) + sevoflurane(MPG + sevoflurane),and MPG.Sevoflurane(Baxter,USA) and MPG(Sigma,USA) were used in this study. METHODS:Intervention consisted of three procedures.(1) MPG injection:a selective reactive oxygen species scavenger,MPG(20 mg/kg),was infused into the rat caudal vein in the MPG and MPG + sevoflurane groups.(2) Sevoflurane preconditioning:30 minutes following MPG injection, rats in the sevoflurane and MPG + sevoflurane groups breathed a mixed gas of 2.4%sevoflurane and 97.6%oxygen for 60 minutes.Rats in the sham operation,ischemia/reperfusion,and MPG groups breathed 100%pure oxygen for 60 minutes.(3) Ischemia/reperfusion:24 hours after sevoflurane or pure oxygen preconditioning,middle cerebral artery occlusion models were established in the ischemia/reperfusion,sevoflurane,MPG + sevoflurane,and MPG groups. Following 2 hours ischemia/6 hours and 24 hours reperfusion,the carotid artery was separated,but the middle cerebral artery was not occluded,in the sham operation group. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:In the ischemic hemisphere,PKC-εtranslocation in the rat parietal cortex was measured by Western blot analysis.Infarct volume was calculated using the TTC assay.Neurological deficits were evaluated in rats using a scoring system of 8 points. RESULTS:After 6 hours reperfusion,the ratio of PKC-εin membrane/(cytosol + membrane) was significantly less in the sham operation group than in the ischemia/reperfusion,sevoflurane,MPG + sevoflurane),and MPG groups(P<0.05).The ratio of PKC-εin membrane/(cytosol + membrane) was significantly greater in the sevoflurane group than in the sham operation,ischemia/reperfusion, MPG + sevoflurane,and MPG groups(P<0.05).No significant differences were observed in the ischemia/reperfusion,MPG + sevoflurane,and MPG groups(P>0.05).Following 24 hours reperfusion, the ratio of PKC-εin membrane/(cytosol + membrane) was significantly less in the sham operation group than in the ischemia/reperfusion,sevoflurane,MPG + sevoflurane,and MPG groups(P<0.05). No significant differences were detected in the ischemia/reperfusion,sevoflurane,MPG + sevoflurane, and MPG groups(P>0.05).Compared with the ischemia/reperfusion,MPG + sevoflurane,and MPG groups,infarct volume was significantly smaller,and neurological deficits were significantly improved, in the sevoflurane group(P<0.05).No significant differences in infarct volume and neurological deficits were observed among the ischemia/reperfusion,MPG + sevoflurane,and MPG groups(P>0.05).Infarcts or neurological deficits were not detected in the sham operation group. 20Haemorrhage risk of brain arteriovenous malformation during pregnancy and puerperium显示文摘Background This study aimed to assess whether pregnancy and puerperium were associated with the risk of brain arteriovenous malformation(bAVM)haemorrhage.Methods A retrospective review was conducted in Xiangya Hospital,Central South University from January 2012 to December 2021.A case-crossover design was adopted to calculate the incidence density of bAVM-related haemorrhage among female patients in risk(pregnancy and puerperium)and control(non-pregnancy and non-puerperium)periods,according to four scenarios observed in different populations scenario I:patients with haemorrhagic bAVM of all ages;scenario II:patients with haemorrhagic bAVM of all ages,with at least one previous pregnancy;scenario III:patients with haemorrhagic bAVM who are of reproductive age(15-45 years);scenario IV:patients with haemorrhagic bAVM of reproductive age(15-45 years),with at least one previous pregnancy.Next,a comprehensive literature aggregation(up to April 2022)was performed for evidence synthesis.Results Among the 311 female patients with haemorrhagic bAVM,a significant haemorrhage risk during pregnancy and puerperium was found in Scenarios I(relative risk[RR],2.08;95%CI,1.28 to 3.39),II(RR,3.21;95%CI,1.95 to 5.31)and IV(RR,2.92;95%CI,1.73 to 4.93);however,a suggestive risk was found in scenario III(RR,1.62;95%CI,0.99 to 2.67).Evidence synthesis revealed a consistent haemorrhage risk among patients of all ages(RR,3.15;95%CI,1.93 to 5.15)and those of reproductive age(RR,1.29;95%CI,0.89 to 1.86).Conclusion Compared with most previous studies,a higher but relatively moderate risk for bAVM-related haemorrhage was identified during pregnancy and puerperium.Individualised prevention and treatment strategies should be preferred when neurosurgeons make clinical decisions.Junyu Liu Honghao Zhang Chun Luo Yuxin Guo Yifeng Li Dun Yuan Weixi Jiang Junxia Yan 2023Stroke & Vascular Neurology2023,8,4:1
