| 3 | Direct observation of localized surface plasmon field enhancement by Kelvin probe force microscopy显示文摘A surface plasmon(SP)is a fundamental excitation state that exists in metal nanostructures.Over the past several years,the performance of optoelectronic devices has been improved greatly via the SP enhancement effect.In our previous work,the responsivity of GaN ultraviolet detectors was increased by over 30 times when using Ag nanoparticles.However,the physics of the SP enhancement effect has not been established definitely because of the lack of experimental evidence.To reveal the physical origin of this enhancement,Kelvin probe force microscopy(KPFM)was used to observe the SP-induced surface potential reduction in the vicinity of Ag nanoparticles on a GaN epilayer.Under ultraviolet illumination,the localized field enhancement induced by the SP forces the photogenerated electrons to drift close to the Ag nanoparticles,leading to a reduction of the surface potential around the Ag nanoparticles on the GaN epilayer.For an isolated Ag nanoparticle with a diameter of~200 nm,the distribution of the SP localized field is located within 60 nm of the boundary of the Ag nanoparticle.For a dimer of Ag nanoparticles,the localized field enhancement between the nanoparticles was the strongest.The results presented here provide direct experimental proof of the localized field enhancement.These results not only explain the high performance of GaN detectors observed with the use of Ag nanoparticles but also reveal the physical mechanism of SP enhancement in optoelectronic devices,which will help us further understand and improve the performance of SP-based optoelectronic devices in the future. | Da-Bing Li Xiao-Juan Sun Yu-Ping Jia Mark I Stockman Hari P Paudel Hang Song Hong Jiang Zhi-Ming Li | 2017 | Light(Science & Applications)2017,6,1: | 2 |

| 5 | The aging burden of hospitalization for heart failure in Chinese populations:evidence from the Macao Heart Failure Study显示文摘Objective To assess the aging burden of hospitalization for heart failure in Chinese populations in Macao.Methods The Macao Heart Failure Study consists of patients hospitalized with a diagnosis of acute heart failure(AHF)at Centro Hospitalar Conde de São Januário(the only public hospital that provides medical care for the approximately 600,000 residents of Macao)from January 2014 to December 2016.First,we investigated the relationship between socioeconomic development and epidemiological characteristics of HF in Macao.Then we assessed the patients’clinical features and outcomes according to the age groups.Results A total of 967 patients were included in the final analysis.The median age at admission was 82 years old.The advanced age at the admission of HF in Macao was significantly associated with a high-income level and the aging population structure.Marked heterogeneity existed in the epidemiological characteristics,clinical features,utilization of evidence-based therapies,short-and long-term outcomes,and prognostic utility of clinical variables among the different age groups.Conclusion Rapid economic development and significantly aging populations have produced a profound impact on the epidemiological characteristics of HF in Chinese populations.Acute decompensated heart failure(ADHF)is predominantly a disease of the elderly in Macao,and a significant heterogeneity exists in the clinical features,managements,and outcomes among different age groups.Age-based risk stratification models and multidisciplinary HF teams are urgently needed to improve the management and outcomes of hospitalized heart failure(HHF)patients. | Zhi-Nan LU Mario Evora Edmundo Lao Man Ieng Pun Weng Hong Pun Monica Pon Kong Chu Pui I Ieong Toi-Meng Mok Yong-Jian WU | 2020 | Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2020,17,9: | 2 |
