1OPERATIONAL TROPICAL CYCLONE FORECAST VERIFICATION PRACTICE IN THE WESTERN NORTH PACIFIC REGION显示文摘This paper summarizes results of a survey of the operational status of tropical cyclone(TC) forecast verifi-cation in the western North Pacific region, covering the Members of the ESCAP/WMO Typhoon Committee, RSMC Tokyo-Typhoon Center, and JTWC. Results of the survey indicate that significant efforts have been focused on the verification of TC forecast guidance by operational forecast agencies in the region, either individually or through international cooperation. A variety of TC forecast verification products are available to the forecasters in either real time or in post-season through multiple means, with the main focus on the deterministic track and intensity forecasts. Only a few verification products are available for probabilistic forecasts. Verification of TC precipitation and high wind forecasts are also lacking sufficient attention in the region. 3Fabrication of titanium based biphasic scaffold using selective laser melting and collagen immersion显示文摘Tissue engineering approaches have been adopted to address challenges in osteochondral tissue regeneration.Single phase scaffolds,which consist of only one single material throughout the whole structure,have been used extensively in these tissue engineering approaches.However,a single phase scaffold is insufficient in providing all the properties required for regeneration and repair of osteochondral defects.Biphasic scaffolds with two distinct phases of titanium/type 1 collagen and titanium-tantalum/type 1 collagen were developed for the first time using selective laser melting and collagen infiltration.Observation of the biphasic scaffolds demonstrated continuous interface between the two phases and mechanical characterization of the metallic scaffolds support the feasibility of the newly developed scaffolds for tissue engineering in osteochondral defects.Swee Leong Sing Shuai Wang Shweta Agarwala Florencia Edith Wiria Thi Mai Hoa Ha Wai Yee Yeong 2017International Journal of Bioprinting2017,3,1:3
4A New Species of Rhacophorus(Amphibia:Anura:Rhacophoridae)from Vietnam显示文摘We describe a new species of Rhacophorus based on two adult specimens collected from Hoa Binh Province, northern Vietnam. Rhacophorus hoabinhensis sp. nov. is distinguishable from its congeners on the basis of a combination of the following morphological characters: size small(SVL 31.1–32.5 mm in males); head slightly longer than wide; vomerine teeth absent; snout short(SNL/SVL 0.16); dorsal skin smooth; forearm and tarsus with dermal fringes; dermal appendage at vent present; webbing formula on fingers Ⅰ12/3-12/3 Ⅱ1-2 Ⅲ1-1 Ⅳ and on toes Ⅰ3/4-1 Ⅱ1/2-1Ⅲ1/2-1 Ⅳ1-1/2Ⅳ; dorsal surface grey yellow with brown spots; lower jaw region dark grey, throat, chest and belly cream; anterior and posterior thighs, as well as ventral surface of tibia orange. The interspecific uncorrected genetic distances(16 S rRNA gene) between the new species from Hoa Binh and other analyzed congeners varied from 9.8% to 17.4%. 7MEMS inductor fabrication and emerging applications in power electronics and neurotechnologies显示文摘MEMS inductors are used in a wide range of applications in micro-and nanotechnology,including RF MEMS,sensors,power electronics,and Bio-MEMS.Fabrication technologies set the boundary conditions for inductor design and their electrical and mechanical performance.This review provides a comprehensive overview of state-of-the-art MEMS technologies for inductor fabrication,presents recent advances in 3D additive fabrication technologies,and discusses the challenges and opportunities of MEMS inductors for two emerging applications,namely,integrated power electronics and neurotechnologies.Among the four top-down MEMS fabrication approaches,3D surface micromachining and through-substrate-via(TSV)fabrication technology have been intensively studied to fabricate 3D inductors such as solenoid and toroid in-substrate TSV inductors.While 3D inductors are preferred for their high-quality factor,high power density,and low parasitic capacitance,in-substrate TSV inductors offer an additional unique advantage for 3D system integration and efficient thermal dissipation.These features make in-substrate TSV inductors promising to achieve the ultimate goal of monolithically integrated power converters.From another perspective,3D bottom-up additive techniques such as ice lithography have great potential for fabricating inductors with geometries and specifications that are very challenging to achieve with established MEMS technologies.Finally,we discuss inspiring and emerging research opportunities for MEMS inductors.Hoa Thanh Le Rubaiyet I.Haque Ziwei Ouyang Seung Woo Lee Shelley I.Fried Ding Zhao Min Qiu Anpan Han 2021Microsystems & Nanoengineering2021,7,4:2
8Novel MAC Layer Proposal for URLLC in IndustrialWireless Sensor Networks显示文摘Ultra-reliable and low-latency communications(URLLC) has become a fundamental focus of future industrial wireless sensor net-works(IWSNs). With the evolution of automation and process control in industrial environments, the need for increased reliabilityand reduced latencies in wireless communications is even pronounced. Furthermore, the 5G systems specifically target the URLLCin selected areas and industrial automation might turn into a suitable venue for future IWSNs, running 5G as a high speed inter-process linking technology. In this paper, a hybrid multi-channel scheme for performance and throughput enhancement of IWSNsis proposed. The scheme utilizes the multiple frequency channels to increase the overall throughput of the system along with theincrease in reliability. A special purpose frequency channel is defined, which facilitates the failed communications by retransmis-sions where the retransmission slots are allocated according to the priority level of failed communications of different nodes. Ascheduler is used to formulate priority based scheduling for retransmission in TDMA based communication slots of this channel.Furthermore, in carrier-sense multiple access with collision avoidance(CSMA/CA) based slots, a frequency polling is introducedto limit the collisions. Mathematical modelling for performance metrics is also presented. The performance of the proposed schemeis compared with that of IEEE802.15.4e, where the performance is evaluated on the basis of throughput, reliability and the num-ber of nodes accommodated in a cluster.
