| 1 | Effects of elevated [CO_2] on stem and root lodging among rice cultivars显示文摘Studies showed that elevated [CO2] would improve photosynthetic rates and enhance yields of rice;however,few studies have focused on the response of rice lodging,which is a major cause of cereal yield loss and quality reduction,under elevated [CO2].In this study,we examined the effects of elevated [CO2] on stem and root lodging using 4 rice cultivars(86Y8,japonica hybrid;LYP9,2-line indica hybrid;variety 9311,type of indica inbred rice,and SY63,3-line indica hybrid) grown under two [CO2] levels:400 and 680 μmol mol-1.Our results indicated that under elevated [CO2],the stem-lodging risk(SLR) of 9311 decreased,while in SY63 the SLR increased,86Y8 and LYP9 were not significantly affected;the risk of root lodging was reduced for all cultivars,because root biomass(instead of root number) and bending strength were increased significantly,and then the increase of anti-lodging ability is far higher than that of self-weight mass moment for all cultivars.These findings suggested that higher [CO2] can enhance the risk of stem-lodging for cultivars with strong-[CO2]-responses,but may not aggravate the root lodging for all rice cultivars. | ZHU ChunWu CHENG WeiGuo SAKAI Hidemitsu OIKAWA Shimpei LAZA Rebecca C USUI Yasuhiro HASEGAWA Toshihiro | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013，58，15： | 4 |
| 2 | Hematogenous umbilical metastasis from colon cancer treated by palliative single-incision laparoscopic surgery显示文摘Sister Mary Joseph’s nodule(SMJN)is a rare umbilical nodule that develops secondary to metastatic cancer.Primary malignancies are located in the abdomen or pelvis.Patients with SMJN have a poor prognosis.An 83-year-old woman presented to our hospital with a1-month history of a rapidly enlarging umbilical mass.Endoscopic findings revealed advanced transverse colon cancer.computer tomography and fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography revealed tumors of the transverse colon,umbilicus,right inguinal lymph nodes,and left lung.The feeding arteries and drainage veins for the SMJN were the inferior epigastric vessels.Imaging findings of the left lung tumor allowed for identification of the primary lung cancer,and a diagnosis of advanced transverse colon cancer with SMJN and primary lung cancer was made.The patient underwent local resection of the SMNJ and subsequent single-site laparoscopic surgery involving right hemicolectomy and paracolic lymph node dissection.Intra-abdominal dissemination to the mesocolon was confirmed during surgery.Histopathologically,the transverse colon cancer was confirmed to be moderately differentiated tubular adenocarcinoma.We suspect that SMJN may occur via a hematogenous pathway.Although chemotherapy for colon cancer and thoracoscopic surgery for the primary lung cancer were scheduled,the patient and her family desired home hospice.Seven months after surgery,she died of rapidly growing lung cancer. | Tomohide Hori Noriyuki Okada Masaya Nakauchi Shuji Hiramoto Ayako Kikuchi-Mizota Masahisa Kyogoku Fumitaka Oike Hidemitsu Sugimoto Junya Tanaka Yoshiki Morikami Kaori Shigemoto Toyotsugu Ota Masanobu Kaneko Masato Nakatsuji Shunji Okae Takahiro Tanaka Daigo Gunji Akira Yoshioka | 2013 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery2013，5，10： | 2 |
