2Update in version 2021 of CSCO guidelines for colorectal cancer from version 2020显示文摘Colorectal cancer(CRC) is one of the major cancers threatening life and health of Chinese residents. According to the latest data released by the National Cancer Center in2015(1), there were 387,000 new cases and 187,100 deaths of CRC in China, accounting for 9.87% and 8.01% of all malignancies. The first version of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology(CSCO) guidelines was released in April2017, and has been updated annually based on the latest clinical research data and the availability of new drugs(2-4). 5Enhanced allelopathy and competitive ability of invasive plant Solidago canadensis in its introduced range显示文摘Aims Why invasive plants are more competitive in their introduced range than native range is still an unanswered question in plant invasion ecology.Here,we used the model invasive plant Solidago canaden-sis to test a hypothesis that enhanced production of allelopathic compounds results in greater competitive ability of invasive plants in the invaded range rather than in the native range.We also exam-ined the degree to which the allelopathy contributes increased com-petitive ability of S.canadensis in the invaded range.Methods We compared allelochemical production by S.canadensis growing in its native area(the USA)and invaded area(China)and also by populations that were collected from the two countries and grown together in a'common garden'greenhouse experiment.We also tested the allelopathic effects of S.canadensis collected from either the USA or China on the germination of Kummerowia striata(a native plant in China).Finally,we conducted a common garden,greenhouse experiment in which K.striata was grown in monocul-ture or with S.canadensis from the USA or China to test the effects of allopathy on plant-plant competition with suitable controls such as adding activated carbon to the soil to absorb the allelochemicals and thereby eliminating any corresponding allopathic effects.Important findings Allelochemical contents(total phenolics,total flavones and total saponins)and allelopathic effects were greater in S.canadensis sampled from China than those from the USA as demonstrated in a field survey and a common garden experiment.Inhibition of K.stri-ata germination using S.canadensis extracts or previously grown in soil was greater using samples from China than from the USA.The competitive ability of S.canadensis against K.striata was also greater for plants originating from China than those from the USA.Allelopathy could explain about 46%of the difference.These find-ings demonstrated that S.canadensis has evolved to be more allelo-pathic and competitive in the introduced range and that allelopathy significantly contributes to increased competitiveness for this inva-sive species.Yongge Yuan Bing Wang Shanshan Zhang Jianjun Tang Cong Tu Shuijin Hu Jean W.H.Yong Xin Chen 2013Journal of Plant Ecology2013,6,3:15
6Identification of mecciRNAs and their roles in the mitochondrial entry of proteins显示文摘Mammalian mitochondria have small genomes encoding very limited numbers of proteins.Over one thousand proteins and noncoding RNAs encoded by the nuclear genome must be imported from the cytosol into the mitochondria.Here,we report the identification of hundreds of circular RNAs(mecciRNAs)encoded by the mitochondrial genome.We provide both in vitro and in vivo evidence to show that mecciRNAs facilitate the mitochondrial entry of nuclear-encoded proteins by serving as molecular chaperones in the folding of imported proteins.Known components involved in mitochondrial protein and RNA importation,such as TOM40 and PNPASE,interact with mecciRNAs and regulate protein entry.The expression of mecciRNAs is regulated,and these transcripts are critical for the adaption of mitochondria to physiological conditions and diseases such as stresses and cancers by modulating mitochondrial protein importation.mecciRNAs and their associated physiological roles add categories and functions to the known eukaryotic circular RNAs and shed novel light on the communication between mitochondria and the nucleus.Xu Liu Xiaolin Wang Jingxin Li Shanshan Hu Yuqi Deng Hao Yin Xichen Bao Qiangfeng Cliff Zhang Geng Wang Baolong Wang Qinghua Shi Ge Shan 2020Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,10:15
7The prognostic and therapeutic implications of circulating tumor cell phenotype detection based on epithelial-mesenchymal transition markers in the first-line chemotherapy of HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer显示文摘Background:Epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT)is implicated in the metastatic process and presents a chal-lenge to epithelial cell adhesion molecule-based detection of circulating tumor cells(CTCs),which have been demon-strated to be a prognostic indicator in metastatic breast cancer.Although evidence has indicated that heterogeneity of CTCs based on EMT markers is associated with disease progression,no standard recommendations have been established for clinical practice.This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic significance of dynamic CTC detection based on EMT for metastatic breast cancer patients.Methods:We enrolled 108 human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative metastatic breast cancer patients from the prospective phase III CAMELLIA study and applied the CanPatrol CTC enrichment technique to identify CTC phenotypes(including epithelial CTCs,biphenotypic epithelial/mesenchymal CTCs,and mesenchymal CTCs)in peripheral blood samples.Receiver operating characteristic curve analyses of total CTC count and the proportion of mesenchymal CTCs for predicting the 1-year progression-free survival(PFS)rate were conducted to determine the optimal cut-off values,and Kaplan-Meier analysis and Cox proportional hazards regression analysis were performed to investigate the prognostic value of the cut-off values of both total CTC count and the proportion of mesenchymal CTCs in combination.Results:For predicting the 1-year PFS rate,the optimal cut-off value of total CTC count was 9.5(Area under the curve[AUC]=0.538,95%confidence interval[CI]=0.418-0.657),and that of the proportion of mesenchymal CTCs was 10.7%(AUC=0.581,95%CI=0.463-0.699).We used the two cut-off values in combination to forecast PFS in which the total CTC count was equaled to or exceeded 10/5 mL with the proportion of mesenchymal CTCs surpassed 10.7%.Patients who met the combined criteria had significantly shorter median PFS than did those who did not meet the criteria(6.2 vs.9.9 months,P=0.010).A nomogram was constructed based on the criteria and significant clinicopatho-logical characteristics with a C-index of 0.613(P=0.010).Conclusions: The criteria, which combine the total CTC count and the proportion of mesenchymal CTCs, may be used to monitor therapeutic resistance and predict prognosis in patients with metastatic breast cancer.Xiuwen Guan Fei Ma Chunxiao Li Shiyang Wu Shangying Hu Jiefen Huang Xiaoying Sun Jiayu Wang Yang Luo Ruigang Cai Ying Fan Qiao Li Shanshan Chen Pin Zhang Qing Li Binghe Xu 2019Cancer Communications2019,39,1:15
8Detection and fine-mapping of SC7 resistance genes via linkage and association analysis in soybean显示文摘Soybean mosaic virus(SMV) disease is one of the most serious and broadly distributed soybean(Glycine max(L.) Merr.) diseases. Here, we combine the advantages of association and linkage analysis to identify and fine-map the soybean genes associated with resistance to SMV strain SC7.A set of 191 soybean accessions from different geographic origins and 184 recombinant inbred lines(RILs) derived from Kefeng No.1(resistant) Nannong 1138-2(susceptible) were used in this study. The SC7 resistance genes were previously mapped to a 2.65 Mb region on chromosome 2 and a 380 kb region on chromosome 13. Among 19 single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) detected via association analysis in the study, the SNP BARC-021625-04157 was located in the2.65 Mb region, and the SNP BARC-041671-08065 was located near the 380 kb region; three genes harboring the SNPs were probably related to SC7 resistance. The resistance gene associated with BARC-021625-04157 was then finemapped to a region of approximately 158 kb on chromosome2 using 184 RILs. Among the 15 genes within this region, one NBS-LRR type gene, one HSP40 gene and one serine carboxypeptidase-type gene might be candidate SC7 resistance genes. 10Development and validation of an endoscopic images-based deep learning model for detection with nasopharyngeal malignancies显示文摘Background:Due to the occult anatomic location of the nasopharynx and frequent presence of adenoid hyperpla-sia,the positive rate for malignancy identification during biopsy is low,thus leading to delayed or missed diagnosis for nasopharyngeal malignancies upon initial attempt.Here,we aimed to develop an artificial intelligence tool to detect nasopharyngeal malignancies under endoscopic examination based on deep learning.Methods:An endoscopic images-based nasopharyngeal malignancy detection model(eNPM-DM)consisting of a fully convolutional network based on the inception architecture was developed and fine-tuned using separate training and validation sets for both classification and segmentation.Briefly,a total of 28,966 qualified images were collected.Among these images,27,536 biopsy-proven images from 7951 individuals obtained from January 1st,2008,to December 31st,2016,were split into the training,validation and test sets at a ratio of 7:1:2 using simple randomiza-tion.Additionally,1430 images obtained from January 1st,2017,to March 31st,2017,were used as a prospective test set to compare the performance of the established model against oncologist evaluation.The dice similarity coef-ficient(DSC)was used to evaluate the efficiency of eNPM-DM in automatic segmentation of malignant area from the background of nasopharyngeal endoscopic images,by comparing automatic segmentation with manual segmenta-tion performed by the experts.Results:All images were histopathologically confirmed,and included 5713(19.7%)normal control,19,107(66.0%)nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC),335(1.2%)NPC and 3811(13.2%)benign diseases.The eNPM-DM attained an overall accuracy of 88.7%(95%confidence interval(CI)87.8%-89.5%)in detecting malignancies in the test set.In the prospective comparison phase,eNPM-DM outperformed the experts:the overall accuracy was 88.0%(95%CI 86.1%-89.6%)vs.80.5%(95%CI 77.0%-84.0%).The eNPM-DM required less time(40 s vs.110.0±5.8 min)and exhibited encouraging performance in automatic segmentation of nasopharyngeal malignant area from the background,with an average DSC of 0.78±0.24 and 0.75±0.26 in the test and prospective test sets,respectively.Conclusions:The eNPM-DM outperformed oncologist evaluation in diagnostic classification of nasopharyngeal mass into benign versus malignant,and realized automatic segmentation of malignant area from the background of nasopharyngeal endoscopic images.Chaofeng Li Bingzhong Jing Liangru Ke Bin Li Weixiong Xia Caisheng He Chaonan Qian Chong Zhao Haiqiang Mai Mingyuan Chen Kajia Cao Haoyuan Mo Ling Guo Qiuyan Chen Linquan Tang Wenze Qiu Yahui Yu Hu Liang Xinjun Huang Guoying Liu Wangzhong Li Lin Wang Rui Sun Xiong Zou Shanshan Guo Peiyu Huang Donghua Luo Fang Qiu Yishan Wu Yijun Hua Kuiyuan Liu Shuhui Lv Jingjing Miao Yanqun Xiang Ying Sun Xiang Guo Xing Lv 2018Cancer Communications2018,38,1:9
11A Human Body Posture Recognition Algorithm Based on BP Neural Network for Wireless Body Area Networks显示文摘Human body posture recognition has attracted considerable attention in recent years in wireless body area networks(WBAN). In order to precisely recognize human body posture,many recognition algorithms have been proposed.However, the recognition rate is relatively low. In this paper, we apply back propagation(BP) neural network as a classifier to recognizing human body posture, where signals are collected from VG350 acceleration sensor and a posture signal collection system based on WBAN is designed. Human body signal vector magnitude(SVM) and tri-axial acceleration sensor data are used to describe the human body postures. We are able to recognize 4postures: Walk, Run, Squat and Sit. Our posture recognition rate is up to 91.67%. Furthermore, we find an implied relationship between hidden layer neurons and the posture recognition rate. 13Inhibition of growth and metastasis of triple-negative breast cancer targeted by Traditional Chinese Medicine Tubeimu in orthotopic mice models显示文摘Objective: Triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC) is highly invasive and metastatic, which is in urgent need of transformative therapeutics. Tubeimu(TBM), the rhizome of Bolbostemma paniculatum(Maxim.) Franquet, is one of the Chinese medicinal herbs used for breast diseases since the ancient times. The present study evaluated the efficacy, especially the anti-metastatic effects of the dichloromethane extract of Tubeimu(ETBM) on TNBC orthotopic mouse models and cell lines.Methods: We applied real-time imaging on florescent orthotopic TNBC mice model and tested cell migration and invasion abilities with MDA-MB-231 cell line. Digital gene expression sequencing was performed and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG) analysis applied to explore the pathways influenced by ETBM.Moreover, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reactions(q RT-PCR) and Western blot were delivered to confirm the gene expression changes.Results: ETBM exhibited noticeable control on tumor metastasis and growth of TNBC tumors with no obvious toxicity. In compliance with this, it also showed inhibition of cell migration and invasion in vitro. 15Inhalation of Roman chamomile essential oil attenuates depressive-like behaviors in Wistar Kyoto rats显示文摘The idea of aromatherapy, using essential oils, has been considered as an alternative antidepressant treatment. In the present study, we investigated the effect of Roman chamomile essential oil inhalation for two weeks on depressive-like behaviors in Wistar-Kyoto(WKY) rats. We found that inhalation of either Roman chamomile or one of its main components α-pinene,attenuated depressive-like behavior in WKY rats in the forced swim test. Using isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation analysis(iTRAQ), we found that inhalation of α-pinene increased expression of proteins that are involved in oxidative phosphorylation, such as cytochrome c oxidase subunit 6C-2, cytochrome c oxidase subunit 7A2, ATPase inhibitor in the hippocampus, and cytochrome c oxidase subunit 6C-2, ATP synthase subunit e, Acyl carrier protein, and Cytochrome b-c1 complex subunit 6 in the PFC(prefrontal cortex). In addition, using the quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction technique, we confirmed an increase of parvalbumin mRNA expression in the hippocampus, which was shown to be upregulated by 2.8-fold in iTRAQ analysis, in α-pinene treated WKY rats. 16Integrating CART Algorithm and Multi-source Remote Sensing Data to Estimate Sub-pixel Impervious Surface Coverage:A Case Study from Beijing Municipality,China显示文摘The sub-pixel impervious surface percentage(SPIS) is the fraction of impervious surface area in one pixel,and it is an important indicator of urbanization.Using remote sensing data,the spatial distribution of SPIS values over large areas can be extracted,and these data are significant for studies of urban climate,environment and hydrology.To develop a stabilized,multi-temporal SPIS estimation method suitable for typical temperate semi-arid climate zones with distinct seasons,an optimal model for estimating SPIS values within Beijing Municipality was built that is based on the classification and regression tree(CART) algorithm.First,models with different input variables for SPIS estimation were built by integrating multi-source remote sensing data with other auxiliary data.The optimal model was selected through the analysis and comparison of the assessed accuracy of these models.Subsequently,multi-temporal SPIS mapping was carried out based on the optimal model.The results are as follows:1) multi-seasonal images and nighttime light(NTL) data are the optimal input variables for SPIS estimation within Beijing Municipality,where the intra-annual variability in vegetation is distinct.The different spectral characteristics in the cultivated land caused by the different farming characteristics and vegetation phenology can be detected by the multi-seasonal images effectively.NLT data can effectively reduce the misestimation caused by the spectral similarity between bare land and impervious surfaces.After testing,the SPIS modeling correlation coefficient(r) is approximately 0.86,the average error(AE) is approximately 12.8%,and the relative error(RE) is approximately 0.39.2) The SPIS results have been divided into areas with high-density impervious cover(70%–100%),medium-density impervious cover(40%–70%),low-density impervious cover(10%–40%) and natural cover(0%–10%).The SPIS model performed better in estimating values for high-density urban areas than other categories.3) Multi-temporal SPIS mapping(1991–2016) was conducted based on the optimized SPIS results for 2005.After testing,AE ranges from 12.7% to 15.2%,RE ranges from 0.39 to 0.46,and r ranges from 0.81 to 0.86.It is demonstrated that the proposed approach for estimating sub-pixel level impervious surface by integrating the CART algorithm and multi-source remote sensing data is feasible and suitable for multi-temporal SPIS mapping of areas with distinct intra-annual variability in vegetation.HU Deyong CHEN Shanshan QIAO Kun CAO Shisong 2017Chinese Geographical Science2017,27,4:5
17FPGA-based high resolution DPWM control circuit显示文摘Two improved structures of high resolution digital pulse width modulator(DPWM) control circuit are proposed. Embedded digital clock manager(DCM) blocks and digital programmable delay circuits are employed as the basic resources to construct the field-programmable gate array(FPGA)-based DPWM implementations. Detailed schemes are illustrated and the circuits have been successfully implemented on the Artix-7 FPGA device developed by Xilinx. Experimental results show that when the basic clock operates at the frequency of 200 MHz, the resolutions of the two approaches can reach 625 ps and 500 ps, respectively. 19Enhanced damping capacity of ferromagnetic Fe-Ga alloys by introducing structural defects显示文摘The irreversible motion of magnetic domain walls in ferromagnets can dissipate a large portion of the elastic energy,and the associated damping capacity is proportional to the magnetostriction constant.In contrast,here we found that the damping capacity of the large magnetostriction Fe-Ga alloys can be enhanced by 2-3 times through introducing structural defects including interfacial dislocations and stacking faults,despite that these defects deteriorate the magnetostriction.These structural defects were introduced by aging the BCC(body-centered-cubic)solution-treated precursor,for which the formation of mechanically harder FCT(face-centered-tetragonal)and/or FCC(face-centered-cubic)phases can result in high-density partial dislocations at the semi-coherent phase interfaces and quasi-periodically stacked nano-layer substructure inside the FCC variants.The structural defects act as extra damping sources besides the magnetic domain walls because the structural accommodation of the semi-coherent phase interfaces between BCC and FCT/FCC nanoprecipitates with different elastic moduli and the nano-layer substructure towards long-range ordered periodical stacking can dissipate a large portion of mechanical energy.These findings suggest that introducing structural defects provides fresh freedom to design high damping ferromagnetic materials.Ruihua Qiao Junming Gou Tianzi Yang Yiqun Zhang Feng Liu Shanshan Hu Tianyu Ma 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,25:3
20Addition of rituximab is not associated with survival benefit compared with CHOP alone for patients with stage I diffuse large B-cell lymphoma显示文摘Background:The role of rituximab in combination with CHOP regimen in patients with stage I diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL) remains to be defined.We aimed to compare CHOP plus rituximab(R-CHOP) with CHOP alone and determine the value of radiotherapy in these patients.Methods:Between 2003 and 2009,140 untreated patients with stage I DLBCL were retrospectively analyzed in this study.Results:Seventy-eight patients were treated in R-CHOP group and 62 in CHOP group.Ninety-one patients received additional radiotherapy at the end of chemotherapy.The different treatment groups were well-balanced with respect to baseline characteristics.Complete response(CR) rate was 77% both in R-CHOP and CHOP groups(P=0.945).After a median follow-up period of 56 months,patients received R-CHOP regimen had similar 5-year progression-free survival(PFS)(76%vs.85%;log-rank P=0.215)and 5-year overall survival(OS)(90%vs.96%;log-rank P=0.175) compared with those with CHOP alone.Patients with radiotherapy had significantly increased 5-year PFS compared with those who had chemotherapy alone(86%vs.71%;log-rank P=0.005).At multivariate analysis,patients who had CR(P=0.008) and received radiotherapy(P=0.003) were significantly associated with superior PFS.Conclusions:CHOP alone could be as effective as R-CHOP regimen and additional radiotherapy would be necessary for stage I or stage I non-bulky DLBCL patients.Bo Jia Yuankai Shi Suyi Kang Sheng Yang Shaoxuan Hu Yexiong Li Mei Dong Weihu Wang Jianliang Yang Liqiang Zhou Peng Liu Shengyu Zhou Yan Qin Lin Gui Changgong Zhang Hua Lin Shanshan Chen Lin Wang Xiaohui He 2015Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2015,27,5:2
