1A seven-gene-deleted African swine fever virus is safe and effective as a live attenuated vaccine in pigs显示文摘African swine fever(ASF)is a devastating infectious disease in swine that is severely threatening the global pig industry.An efficacious vaccine is urgently required.Here,we used the Chinese ASFV HLJ/18 as a backbone and generated a series of genedeleted viruses.The virulence,immunogenicity,safety,and protective efficacy evaluation in specific-pathogen-free pigs,commercial pigs,and pregnant sows indicated that one virus,namely HLJ/18-7GD,which has seven genes deleted,is fully attenuated in pigs,cannot convert to the virulent strain,and provides complete protection of pigs against lethal ASFV challenge.Our study shows that HLJ/-18-7GD is a safe and effective vaccine against ASFV,and as such is expected to play an important role in controlling the spread of ASFV.Weiye Chen Dongming Zhao Xijun He Renqiang Liu Zilong Wang Xianfeng Zhang Fang Li Dan Shan Hefeng Chen Jiwen Zhang Lulu Wang Zhiyuan Wen Xijun Wang Yuntao Guan Jinxiong Liu Zhigao Bu 2020Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,5:72
2Emergence and prevalence of naturally occurring lower virulent African swine fever viruses in domestic pigs in China in 2020显示文摘African swine fever virus(ASFV)has been circulating in China for more than two years,and it is not clear whether the biological properties of the virus have changed.Here,we report on our surveillance of ASFVs in seven provinces of China,from June to December,2020.A total of 22 viruses were isolated and characterized as genotype II ASFVs,with mutations,deletions,insertions,or short-fragment replacement occurring in all isolates compared with Pig/HLJ/2018(HLJ/18),the earliest isolate in China.Eleven isolates had four different types of natural mutations or deletion in the EP402R gene and displayed a nonhemadsorbing(non-HAD)phenotype.Four isolates were tested for virulence in pigs;two were found to be as highly lethal as HLJ/18.However,two non-HAD isolates showed lower virulence but were highly transmissible;infection with 106 TCID50 dose was partially lethal and caused acute or sub-acute disease,whereas 103 TCID50 dose caused non-lethal,sub-acute or chronic disease,and persistent infection.The emergence of lower virulent natural mutants brings greater difficulty to the early diagnosis of ASF and creates new challenges for ASFV control.Encheng Sun Zhenjiang Zhang Zilong Wang Xijun He Xianfeng Zhang Lulu Wang Wenqing Wang Lianyu Huang Fei Xi Haoyue Huangfu Ghebremedhin Tsegay Hong Huo Jianhong Sun Zhijun Tian Wei Xia Xuewu Yu Fang Li Renqiang Liu Yuntao Guan Dongming Zhao Zhigao Bu 2021Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,5:46

4Quasi-real-time simulation of rotating drum using discrete element method with parallel GPU computing显示文摘Real-time simulation of industrial equipment is a huge challenge nowadays. The high performance and fine-grained parallel computing provided by graphics processing units (GPUs) bring us closer to our goals. In this article, an industrial-scale rotating drum is simulated using simplified discrete element method (DEM) without consideration of the tangential components of contact force and particle rotation. A single GPU is used first to simulate a small model system with about 8000 particles in realtime, and the simulation is then scaled up to industrial scale using more than 200 GPUs in a 1D domain-decomposition parallelization mode. The overall speed is about 1/11 of the real-time. 5An experimental study on stress-strain behavior and constitutive model of hardfill material显示文摘Hardfill is a new type of artificially cemented material for dam construction works,with a wide application prospect.Its mechanical behavior lies between concrete and rockfill materials.A series of large-scale triaxial tests are performed on hardfill specimens at different ages,and the stress-strain behavior of hardfill is further discussed.The strength and stress-strain relationship of hardfill materials show both frictional mechanism and cohesive mechanism.An age-related constitutive model of hardfill is developed,which is a parallel model consisting of two components,rockfill component and cementation component.Moreover,a comparison is made between the simulated and the experimental results,which shows that the parallel model can reflect the mechanical characteristics of both rockfill-like nonlinearity and concrete-like age relativity.In addition,a simplified method for the determination of parameters is proposed.WU MengXi DU Bin YAO YuanCheng HE XianFeng 2011Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2011,54,11:15
6Flame propagation characteristics and flame structures of zirconium particle cloud in a small-scale chamber显示文摘Flame propagating through zirconium particle cloud in a small-scale vertical rectangle chamber was investigated experimentally.In the experiments,the zirconium quoted 99% purity was used and the diameter of particles was distributed 1-22 μm.The zirconium dust was dispersed into the chamber by air flow and ignited by an electrode spark.A high-speed video camera was used to record the images of the propagating flame.Micro-thermocouples,schlieren optical system and microscopic lens were used to obtain temperature profiles and flame structure,respectively.Based on the experimental results,flame propagation characteristics and flame structure of zirconium particle cloud were analyzed.The propagation velocity of the flame is quite slow in the initial 14 ms and then accelerates to maximum value.Subsequently,the propagation velocity of the flame almost keeps constant.The combustion zone width of zirconium particle cloud is 5-6 mm.Smaller particles burn mainly at the leading edge of combustion zone in the width of 1.4 mm followed by larger particles burning 1.4-6 mm behind the leading edge of the combustion zone.Gas phase flame is not seen in zirconium particle cloud and the combustion time of single zirconium particle is 1-5 ms,which depends on its original size.The preheated zone is 7-8 mm thickness ahead of the combustion zone and intensive chemical reaction takes place at 490 K.The maximum flame temperature increases at lower concentrations,reaches the maximum value,and then decreases slightly at higher concentrations.DING YiBin SUN JinHua HE XueChao WANG QiuHong YIN Yi XU Yao Chen XianFeng 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,34:8

8Efficient parallel implementation of the lattice Boltzmann method on large clusters of graphic processing units显示文摘Many-core processors, such as graphic processing units (GPUs), are promising platforms for intrinsic parallel algorithms such as the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM). Although tremendous speedup has been obtained on a single GPU compared with mainstream CPUs, the performance of the LBM for multiple GPUs has not been studied extensively and systematically. In this article, we carry out LBM simulation on a GPU cluster with many nodes, each having multiple Fermi GPUs. Asynchronous execution with CUDA stream functions, OpenMP and non-blocking MPI communication are incorporated to improve efficiency. The algorithm is tested for two-dimensional Couette flow and the results are in good agreement with the analytical solution. For both the oneand two-dimensional decomposition of space, the algorithm performs well as most of the communication time is hidden. Direct numerical simulation of a two-dimensional gas-solid suspension containing more than one million solid particles and one billion gas lattice cells demonstrates the potential of this algorithm in large-scale engineering applications. 10Application of the Mole-8.5 supercomputer:Probing the whole influenza virion at the atomic level显示文摘Discrete computer simulations are quite helpful in understanding dynamic structures in complex systems.Recently,using the Mole-8.5 supercomputer and molecular dynamics simulations as a'computational microscope',we simulated the dynamic structure of a whole H1N1 influenza virion in solution for the first time at the atomic level.In total,300 million atoms in a periodic cube with an edge length of 148.5 nm were simulated.Using 288 low level hybrids with 1728 C2050 GPUs and a software package developed specifically for the hardware,the simulation executed 770 ps/d with an integration time step of 1 fs,and analyzed the dynamic structure.With the tremendous computational power of GPUs,efficient software packages for various hardware designs,and consistent physical models,more challenging applications will be carried out in the near future.XU Ji WANG XiaoWei HE XianFeng REN Ying GE Wei LI JingHai 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,20:5
11Molecular dynamics simulation for surface melting and self-preservation effect of methane hydrate显示文摘The surface melting process of structure sI methane hydrate is simulated at T = 240, 260, 280, and 300 K using NVT molecular dynamics method. The simulation results show that a quasi-liquid layer will be formed during the melting process. The density distribution, translation, orientation, and dynamic properties of water molecules in the quasi-liquid layer are calculated as a function of the distance normal to the interface, which indicates the performance of quasi-liquid layer exhibits a continuous change from crystal-like to liquid-like. The quasi-liquid layer plays as a resistance of mass transfer restraining the diffusion of water and methane molecules during the melting process. The resistance of quasi-liquid layer will restrain methane molecules diffuse from hydrate phase to gas phase and slow the melting process, which can be considered as a possible mechanism of self-preservation effect. The performance of quasi-liquid layer is more crystal-like when the temperature is lower than the melt- ing-point of water, which will exhibit an obvious self-preservation. 12Surface Doping vs.Bulk Doping of Cathode Materials for Lithium-Ion Batteries:A Review显示文摘To address the capacity degradation,voltage fading,structural instability and adverse interface reactions in cathode materi-als of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs),numerous modification strategies have been developed,mainly including coating and doping.In particular,the important strategy of doping(surface doping and bulk doping)has been considered an effective strategy to modulate the crystal lattice structure of cathode materials.However,special insights into the mechanisms and effectiveness of the doping strategy,especially comparisons between surface doping and bulk doping in cathode materials,are still lacking.In this review,recent significant progress in surface doping and bulk doping strategies is demonstrated in detail by focusing on their inherent differences as well as effects on the structural stability,lithium-ion(Li-ion)diffusion and electrochemical properties of cathode materials from the following mechanistic insights:preventing the exposure of reactive Ni on the surface,stabilizing the Li slabs,mitigating the migration of transition metal(TM)ions,alleviating unde-sired structural transformations and adverse interface issues,enlarging the Li interslab spacing,forming three-dimensional(3D)Li-ion diffusion channels,and providing more active sites for the charge-transfer process.Moreover,insights into the correlation between the mechanisms of hybrid surface engineering strategies(doping and coating)and their influences on the electrochemical performance of cathode materials are provided by emphasizing the stabilization of the Li slabs,the enhancement of the surface chemical stability,and the alleviation of TM ion migration.Furthermore,the existing challenges and future perspectives in this promising field are indicated.Huaming Qian Haoqi Ren Ying Zhang Xianfeng He Wenbin Li Jingjing Wang Junhua Hu Hong Yang Hirbod Maleki Kheimeh Sari Yu Chen Xifei Li 2022Electrochemical Energy Reviews2022,5,4:2
