3A study on relationship of nitric oxide,oxidation,peroxidation,lipoperoxidation with chronic cholecystitis显示文摘AIM To study relationship of injury induced bynitric oxide,oxidation,peroxidation,lipoperoxidation with chronic cholecystitis.METHODS The values of plasma nitric oxide(P-NO),plasma vitamin C(P-VC),plasma vitamin E(P-VE),plasma β-carotene(P-β-CAR),plasmalipoperoxides(P-LPO),erythrocyte superoxidedismutase(E-SOD),erythrocyte catalase(E-CAT),erythrocyte glutathione peroxidase(E-GSH-Px)activities and erythrocyte lipoperoxides(E-LPO)level in 77 patients with chronic cholecystitisand 80 healthy control subjects were determined,differences of the above average values betweenthe patient group and the control group anddifferences of the average values betweenpreoperative and postoperative patients wereanalyzed and compared,linear regression andcorrelation of the disease course with the abovedetermination values as well as the stepwiseregression and correlation of the course with thevalues were analyzed.RESULTS Compared with the control group,theaverage values of P-NO,P-LPO,E-LPO weresignificantly increased(P<0.01),and of P-VC, P-VE,P-β-CAR,E-SOD,E-CAT and E-GSH-Pxdecreased(P<0.01)in the patient group.Theanalysis of the linear regression and correlationshowed that with prolonging of the course,thevalues of P-NO,P-LPO and E-LPO in the patientswere gradually ascended and the values of P-VC,P-VE,P-β-CAR,E-SOD,E-CAT and E-GSH-Pxdescended(P<0.01).The analysis of thestepwise regression and correlation indicated thatthe correlation of the course with P-NO,P-VE andP-β-CAR values was the closest.Compared withthe preoperative patients,the average values of P-NO,P-LPO and E-LPO were significantlydecreased(P<0.01)and the average values of P-VC,E-SOD,E-CAT and E-GSH-Px in postoperativepatients increased(P<0.01)in postoperativepatients.But there was no significant difference inthe average values of P-VE,P-β-CAR preoperativeand postoperative patients.CONCLUSION Chronic cholecystitis could inducethe increase of nitric oxide,oxidation,peroxidation and lipoperoxidation.Jun Fu Zhou Dong Cai You Gen Zhu Jin Lu Yang Cheng Hong Peng Yang Hai Yu 2000World Journal of Gastroenterology2000,6,4:36
4Does Helicobacter pylori infection play a role in iron deficiency anemia? 6Climate and litter C/N ratio constrain soil organic carbon accumulation显示文摘Soil organic carbon(SOC) plays critical roles in stabilizing atmospheric CO2 concentration, but the mechanistic controls on the amount and distribution of SOC on global scales are not well understood. In turn, this has hampered the ability to model global C budgets and to find measures to mitigate climate change. Here, based on the data from a large field survey campaign with 2600 plots across China’s forest ecosystems and a global collection of published data from forested land, we find that a low litter carbon-to-nitrogen ratio(C/N) and high wetness index(P/PET, precipitation-to-potentialevapotranspiration ratio) are the two factors that promote SOC accumulation, with only minor contributions of litter quantity and soil texture. The field survey data demonstrated that high plant diversity decreased litter C/N and thus indirectly promoted SOC accumulation by increasing the litter quality. We conclude that any changes in plant-community composition, plant-species richness and environmental factors that can reduce the litter C/N ratio, or climatic changes that increase wetness index, may promote SOC accumulation. 8Application of computational fluid dynamic to model the hydraulic performance of subsurface flow wetlands显示文摘A subsurface flow wetland(SSFW)was simulated using a commercial computational fluid dynamic(CFD)code.The constructed media was simulated using porous media and the liquid resident time distribution(RTD)in the SSFW was obtained using the particle trajectory model.The effect of wetland configuration and operating conditions on the hydraulic performance of the SSFW were investigated.The results indicated that the hydraulic performance of the SSFW was predominantly affected by the wetland configuration.The hydraulic effciency of the SSFW with an inlet at the middle edge of the upper media was 0.584 and the best among the SSFWs with an inlet at the top,the middle,and the bottom edge of the upper media.The constructed media affected the hydraulic performance by the ratio(K)of the upper and lower media resistance.The selection of appropriate media resistance in the protection layer can improve the hydraulic effciency.When the viscous resistance coeffcient of the media in the protection layer changed from 2.315×105 to 1.200×108,the hydraulic effciency of the SSFW increased from 0.301 to 0.751.However,the effect of operating conditions on the hydraulic effciency of the SSFW was slight.Liwei FAN Hai Reti Wenxing WANG Zexiang LU Zhiming YANG 2008Journal of Environmental Sciences2008,20,12:17
9Effectiveness of Different Waist Circumference Cut-off Values in Predicting Metabolic Syndrome Prevalence and Risk Factors in Adults in China显示文摘Objective To study the effectiveness of waist circumference cut-off values in predicting the prevalence of metabolic syndrome(MetS) and risk factors in adults in China. Methods A cross-sectional survey was condcuted in 14 provinces(autonomous region, municipality) in China. A total of 47 325 adults aged ≥20 years were selected by multistage stratified sampling, and questionnaire survey and physical and clinical examination were conducted among them. MetS was defined according to the International Diabetes Federation(IDF) criteria and modified IDF criteria.Results The age-standardized prevalence of MetS was 24.2%(22.1% in men and 25.8% in women) and 19.5%(22.1% in men and 18.0% in women) according to the IDF criteria and modified IDF criteria respectively. The age-standardized prevalence of pre-MetS was 8.1%(8.6% in men and 7.8% in women) according to the modified IDF criteria. The prevalence of MetS was higher in urban residents than rural residents and in northern China residents than in southern China residents. The prevalence of central obesity was about 30% in both men and women according to the ethnicity-specific cut-off values of waist circumference for central obesity(90 cm for men and 85 cm for women). Multivariate regression analysis revealed no significant difference in risk factors between the two MetS definitions. 11Bacterial infection triggers and complicates acute-on-chronic liver failure in patients with hepatitis B virus-decompensated cirrhosis: A retrospective cohort study显示文摘BACKGROUND Reports on bacterial infection(BI)in decompensated cirrhosis(DC)is mainly from alcoholic cirrhosis.The role of BI as a trigger or complication of acute-onchronic liver failure(ACLF)in patients with hepatitis B virus decompensated cirrhosis(HBV-DC)remains to be investigated.AIM To investigate the impact of BI on the outcomes of the patients with HBV-DC admitted into the hospital with or without ACLF.METHODS This retrospective study included patients with HBV-DC admitted to two tertiary centers in China.In-hospital overall survival,90-d transplant-free survival,5-year post-discharge survival,and cumulative incidence of ACLF were evaluated.Risk factors for death were analyzed considering liver transplantation as a competing event.RESULTS A total of 1281 hospitalized HBV-DC patients were included;284 had ACLF at admission.The overall prevalence of BI was 28.1%.The patients with BI had a significantly lower in-hospital survival and transplant-free 90-d survival than those without,in both the patients admitted with and without ACLF.The presence of BI significantly increased the risk of developing ACLF[subdistribution hazard ratio(sHR)=2.52,95%CI:1.75-3.61,P<0.001]in the patients without ACLF.In the patients discharged alive,those who had an episode of BI had a significantly lower 5-year transplant-free survival.BI was an independent risk factor for death in the patients admitted without ACLF(sHR=3.28,95%CI:1.93-5.57),while in ACLF admissions,the presence of pneumonia,but not other type of BI,independently increased the risk of death(sHR=1.87,95%CI:1.24-2.82).CONCLUSION BI triggers ACLF in patients with HBV-DC and significantly impairs short-term survival.HBV-DC patients should be monitored carefully for the development of BI,especially pneumonia,to avoid an adverse outcome.Zhu-Jun Cao Yu-Han Liu Chuan-Wu Zhu Shan Yin Wei-Jing Wang Wei-Liang Tang Gang-De Zhao Yu-Min Xu Lu Chen Tian-Hui Zhou Ming-Hao Cai Hui Wang Wei Cai Shi-San Bao Hai Li Qing Xie 2020World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,6:15
12The Genetic Architecture of Flowering Time and Photoperiod Sensitivity in Maize as Revealed by QTL Review and Meta Analysis显示文摘The control of flowering is not only important for reproduction,but also plays a key role in the processes of domestication and adaptation.To reveal the genetic architecture for flowering time and photoperiod sensitivity,a comprehensive evaluation of the relevant literature was performed and followed by meta analysis.A total of 25 synthetic consensus quantitative trait loci(QTL)and four hot-spot genomic regions were identified for photoperiod sensitivity including 11 genes related to photoperiod response or flower morphogenesis and development.Besides,a comparative analysis of the QTL for flowering time and photoperiod sensitivity highlighted the regions containing shared and unique QTL for the two traits.Candidate genes associated with maize flowering were identified through integrated analysis of the homologous genes for flowering time in plants and the consensus QTL regions for photoperiod sensitivity in maize(Zea mays L.).Our results suggest that the combination of literature review,meta-analysis and homologous blast is an efficient approach to identify new candidate genes and create a global view of the genetic architecture for maize photoperiodic flowering.Sequences of candidate genes can be used to develop molecular markers for various models of marker-assisted selection,such as marker-assisted recurrent selection and genomic selection that can contribute significantly to crop environmental adaptation.Jie Xu Yaxi Liu Jian Liu Moju Cao Jing Wang Hai Lan Yunbi Xu Yanli Lu Guangtang Pan Tingzhao Rong 2012Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2012,54,6:14

14Expression and significance of VEGF and p53 in degenerate intervertebral disc tissue显示文摘Objective:To investigate the mechanism of expression and significance of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and p53 in degenerate intervertebral disc tissue.Methods:Pathological sections collected from 156 patienls with lumbar disc herniation after surgery were tested by immunohistochemistry method,for evaluation of the expression of VEGF and p53 in degenerate intervertebral disc tissue.Results:98 cases(62.8%) with vascular infiltration phenomenon are found,and positive rates of VEGF and p53 in degenerate intervertebral disc tissue are 73.42% (116/156) and 58.97%(92/156);co-expression rate is 53.2%(83/l56);the expression rates of VEFG and p53 are significantly higher in the tissue with blood vessel infiltration than in the tissue without infiltration;there is a close relationship of VEGF with p53.Conclusions:VEGF and p53 gene synergetic express in degenerate intervertebral disc tissue,working together in neovascularization and infiltration,and accelerating intervertebral disc tissue degeneration.Xiao-Yu Lu Xiao-Hong Ding Li-Jun Zhong Hong Xia Xiao-Dong Chen Hai Huang 2013Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2013,6,1:12
15Preparation of high-affinity rabbit monoclonal antibodies for ciprofloxacin and development of an indirect competitive ELISA for residues in milk显示文摘A convenient competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) for ciprofloxacin(CPFX) was developed by using rabbit monoclonal antibodies(RabMAbs) against a hapten-protein conjugate of CPFX-bovine serum albumin(BSA).The indirect competitive ELISA of CPFX had a concentration at 50% inhibition(IC50) of 1.47 ng/ml and a limit of detection(LOD) of 0.095 ng/ml.The mAb exhibited some cross-reactivity,however,not so high with enrofloxacin(28.8%),ofloxacin(13.1%),norfloxacin(11.0%),fleroxacin(22.6%),and pefloxacin(20.4%).And it showed almost no cross-reactivity with other antibiotics or sulfonamides evaluated in this study.The competitive ELISA kit developed here could be used as a screening tool to detect and control illegal addition of CPFX in food products.This kit had been applied to milk detection and the recovery rates from samples spiked by CPFX were in a range of 63.02%-84.60%,with coefficients of variation of less than 12.2%.Bin HUANG Yun YIN Lei LU Hai DING Lin WANG Ting YU Jia-jin ZHU Xiao-dong ZHENG Yan-zhen ZHANG 2010Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2010,11,10:11
16Role of nutritional status and nutritional support in outcome of hepatitis B virus-associated acute-on-chronic liver failure显示文摘BACKGROUNDHepatitis B virus-associated acute-on-chronic liver failure (HBV-ACLF) is animportant type of liver failure in Asia. There is a direct relationship between HBVACLFand gastrointestinal barrier function. However, the nutritional status ofHBV-ACLF patients has been poorly studied.AIMTo investigate the nutritional risk and nutritional status of HBV-ACLF patientsand evaluated the impact of nutritional support on the gastrointestinal barrier and28-d mortality.METHODSNutritional risk screening assessment and gastrointestinal barrier biomarkers ofpatients with HBV-ACLF (n = 234) and patients in the compensatory period ofliver cirrhosis (the control group) (n = 234) were compared during the periodbetween 2016 and 2018. Changes were analyzed after nutritional support in HBVACLFpatients. Valuable biomarkers have been explored to predict 28-d death.The 28-d survival between HBV-ACLF patients with nutritional support (n = 234)or no nutritional support (2014-2016) (n = 207) was compared.RESULTSThe nutritional risk of the HBV-ACLF patients was significantly higher than thatof the control group. The nutritional intake of the patients with HBV-ACLF waslower than that of the control group. The decrease in skeletal muscle and fatcontent and the deficiency of fat intake were more obvious (P < 0.001). Thecoccus-bacillus ratio, secretory immunoglobulin A, and serum D-lactate weresignificantly increased in HBV-ACLF patients. The survival group had a lowernutritional risk, lower D-lactate, and cytokine levels (endotoxin, tumor necrosisfactor alpha, interleukin-10, and interleukin-1). Interleukin-10 may be a potentialpredictor of death in HBV-ACLF patients. The 28-d survival of the nutritionalsupport group was better than that of the non-nutritional support group (P =0.016).CONCLUSIONPatients with HBV-ACLF have insufficient nutritional intake and high nutritionalrisk, and their intestinal barrier function is impaired. 17MAPPING OF THE RICE (ORYZA SATIVA L.) THERMO-SENSITIVE GENIC MALE STERILE GENE TMS5 WITH EST AND SSR MARKERS显示文摘With the cDNA suppression subtraction hybridization method, a spikelet-specific cDNA library was constructed that expressed at meiosis stage in rice. A total of 121 cDNA fragments were selected from the library and used as EST (expressed se-quence tags) markers to detect the polymorphism between Annong N, a normal fertile Indica rice line and Annong S-1, its spontaneous mutant with thermo-sensitive genic male sterility, using the RFLP (restriction fragment length polymorphism) technique. HN57, one of the EST probes, could detect poly-morphism between them. The results of segregation analysis with the F2 population developed from An-nong S-1 and Annong N indicate that HN57 co-seg- regates with the thermo-sensitive genic male-sterility controlled by tms5, the recessive gene in Annong S-1. This marker is located on the 31.2-cM region of the chromosome 2 of RGP (rice genome research pro-gram) genetic map. To further determine the location of tms5, 80 SSR (simple sequence repeat) markers around this region were developed, and 12 of them were polymorphic. 18Programmed Death Ligand-1 on Microglia Regulates Th1 Differentiation via Nitric Oxide in Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis显示文摘Microglia are considered to be potential antigen-presenting cells and have the ability to present antigen under pathological conditions. Nevertheless, whether and how microglia are involved in immune regulation are largely unknown. Here, we investigated the suppressive activity of microglia during experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis(EAE) induced by myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein, with the goal of understanding their role in regulating the T cell reaction. Using flow cytometric analysis, we found that microglia were characterized by increased cell number and up-regulated programmed death ligand-1(PD-L1) at the peak phase of EAE. Meanwhile,both the CD^(4+)T cells and microglia that infiltrated the central nervous system expressed higher levels of PD1, the receptor for PD-L1, accompanied by a decline of Th1 cells.In an ex vivo co-culture system, microglia from EAE mice inhibited the proliferation of antigen-specific CD^(4+)T cells and the differentiation of Th1 cells, and this was significantly inhibited by PD-L1 blockade. Further,microglia suppressed Th1 cells via nitric oxide(NO), the production of which was dependent on PD-L1. 20Simultaneous Detection of 13 Key Bacterial Respiratory Pathogens by Combination of Multiplex PCR and Capillary Electrophoresis显示文摘Objective Lower respiratory tract infections continue to pose a significant threat to human health. It is important to accurately and rapidly detect respiratory bacteria. To compensate for the limits of current respiratory bacteria detection methods, we developed a combination of multiplex polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and capillary electrophoresis(MPCE) assay to detect thirteen bacterial pathogens responsible for lower respiratory tract infections, including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Legionella spp., Bordetella pertussis, Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, and Streptococcus pyogenes. Methods Three multiplex PCR reactions were built, and the products were analyzed by capillary electrophoresis using the high-throughput DNA analyzer. The specificity of the MPCE assay was examined and the detection limit was evaluated using DNA samples from each bacterial strain and the simulative samples of each strain. This assay was further evaluated using 152 clinical specimens and compared with real-time PCR reactions. For this assay, three nested-multiplex-PCRs were used to detect these clinical specimens. Results The detection limits of the MPCE assay for the 13 pathogens were very low and ranged from 10^(-7) to 10^(-2) ng/μL. Furthermore, analysis of the 152 clinical specimens yielded a specificity ranging from 96.5%-100.0%, and a sensitivity of 100.0% for the 13 pathogens. Conclusion This study revealed that the MPCE assay is a rapid, reliable, and high-throughput method with high specificity and sensitivity.
