2BMP-IHH-mediated interplay between mesenchymal stem cells and osteoclasts supports calvarial bone homeostasis and repair显示文摘Calvarial bones are connected by fibrous sutures. These sutures provide a niche environment that includes mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs), osteoblasts, and osteoclasts, which help maintain calvarial bone homeostasis and repair. Abnormal function of osteogenic cells or diminished MSCs within the cranial suture can lead to skull defects, such as craniosynostosis. Despite the important function of each of these cell types within the cranial suture, we have limited knowledge about the role that crosstalk between them may play in regulating calvarial bone homeostasis and injury repair. Here we show that suture MSCs give rise to osteoprogenitors that show active bone morphogenetic protein(BMP) signalling and depend on BMP-mediated Indian hedgehog(IHH) signalling to balance osteogenesis and osteoclastogenesis activity. IHH signalling and receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-Β ligand(RANKL) may function synergistically to promote the differentiation and resorption activity of osteoclasts. Loss of Bmpr1a in MSCs leads to downregulation of hedgehog(Hh) signalling and diminished cranial sutures. Significantly, activation of Hh signalling partially restores suture morphology in Bmpr1a mutant mice, suggesting the functional importance of BMP-mediated Hh signalling in regulating suture tissue homeostasis. Furthermore, there is an increased number of CD200+ cells in Bmpr1a mutant mice, which may also contribute to the inhibited osteoclast activity in the sutures of mutant mice. Finally, suture MSCs require BMPmediated Hh signalling during the repair of calvarial bone defects after injury. 3Divergent Projection Patterns Revealed by Reconstruction of Individual Neurons in Orbitofrontal Cortex显示文摘The orbitofrontal cortex(OFC)is involved in diverse brain functions via its extensive projections to multiple target regions.There is a growing understanding of the overall outputs of the OFC at the population level,but reports of the projection patterns of individual OFC neurons across different cortical layers remain rare.Here,by combining neuronal sparse and bright labeling with a whole-brain florescence imaging system(fMOST),we obtained an uninterrupted three-dimensional whole-brain dataset and achieved the full morphological reconstruction of 25 OFC pyramidal neurons.We compared the wholebrain projection targets of these individual OFC neurons in different cortical layers as well as in the same cortical layer.We found cortical layer-dependent projections characterized by divergent patterns for information delivery.Our study not only provides a structural basis for understanding the principles of laminar organizations in the OFC,but also provides clues for future functional and behavioral studies on OFC pyramidal neurons.Junjun Wang Pei Sun Xiaohua Lv Sen Jin Anan Li Jianxia Kuang Ning Li Yadong Gang Rui Guo Shaoqun Zeng Fuqiang Xu Yu-Hui Zhang 2021Neuroscience Bulletin2021,37,4:5
4Devonian integrative stratigraphy and timescale of China显示文摘The Global Boundary Stratotype Sections and Points(GSSPs) for the bases of all seven international Devonian stages have been formally defined and ratified by IUGS till 1996, and nowadays, the main tasks for Devonian stratigraphers include further subdivision of these standard stages, strictly constrained absolute ages for the boundaries, and precise neritic-pelagic and marine-terrestrial correlations using multidisciplinary stratigraphy methods. Establishment of high-resolution Devonian integrative stratigraphy framework and timescale of China would play an important role in improving regional and international correlation, facilitating the recognition of important stratigraphic levels in different paleogeographic settings, and understanding the evolution pattern of biota, paleoclimate and paleoenvironment during this critical interval. 12Variation and Correlation of Erucic Acid,Oleic Acid and Glucosinolate Contents in Brassica rapa Seeds显示文摘In order to screen and identify excellent breeding resources and provide basic materials for Brassica rapa breeding,the contents of erucic acid,oleic acid and glucosinolate in 84 kinds of B. rapa were determined by near-infrared spectroscopy,and the correlations among them were also analyzed. The results showed that the content of erucic acid and oleic acid were significantly negatively correlated,the contents of erucic acid and glucosinolate were significantly positively correlated,while the contents of oleic acid and glucosinolate were significantly negatively correlated; principal component analysis( PCA) were performed on the population materials,factors 1 and 2 were extracted for plotting,factor 1 and factor 2 could explain 73. 7% and 23. 2% of the phenotypic variation,respectively; through cluster analysis,79 materials aggregated to form group I,and five special variants deviated from the population. The variation of erucic acid,oleic acid and glucosinolates in B. rapa populations was rich and there was significant correlation. 13Review on research and development of oxy-coal burner for carbon capture显示文摘In the past two decades, the oxy-fuel combustion of pulverized coal has been extensively developed, leading to the completion of several large industrial pilot oxy-fuel plants worldwide. Various types of oxy-fuel burners have been designed and tested in largescale pilot plants as key components of oxy-fuel combustion. These burners face major challenges in terms of their flame stability because of their decreasing stream momentum ratio and increasing carbon dioxide concentration. However, it offers flexibility in adjusting the oxygen concentration in each burner stream. This study aims to provide a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art knowledge on oxy-coal burner design and operation in power plants. First, the combustion characteristics under oxy-fuel conditions are briefly introduced. Subsequently, the principal requirements and fundamental parameters of the oxy-coal burners are discussed. The development process of oxy-fuel burners is also presented. Moreover, a compatible design strategy and scaling-up techniques are described for oxy-coal burners developed by the authors over the past ten years. The performances of oxy-coal burners in three large pilot oxy-fuel plants worldwide are summarized and compared. 16In Situ Iodide Passivation Toward Efficient CsPbI_(3) Perovskite Quantum Dot Solar Cells显示文摘All-inorganic CsPbI_3 quantum dots(QDs) have demonstrated promising potential in photovoltaic(PV) applications. However, these colloidal perovskites are vulnerable to the deterioration of surface trap states, leading to a degradation in efficiency and stability. To address these issues, a facile yet effective strategy of introducing hydroiodic acid(HI) into the synthesis procedure is established to achieve high-quality QDs and devices. Through an in-depth experimental analysis, the introduction of HI was found to convert PbI_2 into highly coordinated [PbI_m]~(2-m), enabling control of the nucleation numbers and growth kinetics. Combined optical and structural investigations illustrate that such a synthesis technique is beneficial for achieving enhanced crystallinity and a reduced density of crystallographic defects. Finally, the effect of HI is further reflected on the PV performance. The optimal device demonstrated a significantly improved power conversion efficiency of 15.72% along with enhanced storage stability. 18Phosphorous-doped carbon nanotube/reduced graphene oxide aerogel cathode enabled by pseudocapacitance for high energy and power zinc-ion hybrid capacitors显示文摘The design and development of energy storage device with high energy/power density has become a research hotspot.Zinc-ion hybrid capacitors(ZHCs)are considered as one of the most promising candidates.However,the application of ZHCs is hindered by their low energy density at high power density due to the unsatisfactory cathode material.In this study,a novel 3D phosphorus-doped carbon nanotube/reduced graphene oxide(P-CNT/rGO)aerogel cathode is synthesized through a synergistic modification strategy of CNT insertion and P doping modification combined with 3D porous design.The as-obtained P-CNT/rGO aerogel cathode manifests significantly increased surface aera,expanded interlayer spacing,and enhanced pseudocapacitance behavior,thus leading to significantly enhanced specific capacitance and superb ions transport performance.The as-assembled ZHC based on P-CNT/rGO cathode delivers a superior energy density of 42.2 Wh/kg at an extreme-high power density of 80 kW/kg and excellent cycle life.In-depth kinetic analyses are undertaken to prove the enhanced pseudocapacitance behavior and exceptional power output capability of ZHCs.Furthermore,the reaction mechanism of physical and chemical adsorption/desorption of electrolyte ions on the P-CNT/rGO cathode is revealed by systematic ex-situ characterizations.This work can provide a valuable reference for developing advanced graphene-based cathode for high energy/power density ZHCs.Junjun Yao Fuzhi Li Ruyi Zhou Chenchen Guo Xinru Liu Yirong Zhu 2024Chinese Chemical Letters2024,35,2:0

20Intermittent F-actin Perturbations by Magnetic Fields Inhibit Breast Cancer Metastasis显示文摘F-actin(filamentous actin)has been shown to be sensitive to mechanical stimuli and play critical roles in cell attachment,migration,and cancer metastasis,but there are very limited ways to perturb F-actin dynamics with low cell toxicity.Magnetic field is a noninvasive and reversible physical tool that can easily penetrate cells and human bodies.Here,we show that 0.1/0.4-T 4.2-Hz moderate-intensity low-frequency rotating magnetic field-induced electric field could directly decrease F-actin formation in vitro and in vivo,which results in decreased breast cancer cell migration,invasion,and attachment.Moreover,lowfrequency rotating magnetic fields generated significantly different effects on F-actin in breast cancer vs.noncancerous cells,including F-actin number and their recovery after magnetic field retrieval.Using an intermittent treatment modality,low-frequency rotating magnetic fields could significantly reduce mouse breast cancer metastasis,prolong mouse survival by 31.5 to 46.0%(P<0.0001),and improve their overall physical condition.Therefore,our work demonstrates that low-frequency rotating magnetic fields not only can be used as a research tool to perturb F-actin but also can inhibit breast cancer metastasis through F-actin modulation while having minimum effects on normal cells,which reveals their potential to be developed as temporal-controlled,noninvasive,and high-penetration physical treatments for metastatic cancer.Xinmiao Ji Xiaofei Tian Shuang Feng Lei Zhang Junjun Wang Ruowen Guo Yiming Zhu Xin Yu Yongsen Zhang Haifeng Du Vitalii Zablotskii Xin Zhang 2023Research2023,,4:0
