| 1 | Spatio-temporal changes in biomass carbon sinks in China's forests from 1977 to 2008显示文摘Forests play a leading role in regional and global carbon (C) cycles. Detailed assessment of the temporal and spatial changes in C sinks/sources of China's forests is critical to the estimation of the national C budget and can help to constitute sustainable forest management policies for climate change. In this study, we explored the spatio-temporal changes in forest biomass C stocks in China between 1977 and 2008, using six periods of the national forest inventory data. According to the definition of the forest inventory, China's forest was categorized into three groups: forest stand, economic forest, and bamboo forest. We estimated forest biomass C stocks for each inventory period by using continuous biomass expansion factor (BEF) method for forest stands, and the mean biomass density method for economic and bamboo forests. As a result, China's forests have accumulated biomass C (i.e., biomass C sink) of 1896 Tg (1Tg=1012g) during the study period, with 1710, 108 and 78 Tg C in forest stands, and economic and bamboo forests, respectively. Annual forest biomass C sink was 70.2 Tg Ca-1 , offsetting 7.8% of the contemporary fossil CO2 emissions in the country. The results also showed that planted forests have functioned as a persistent C sink, sequestrating 818 Tg C and accounting for 47.8% of total C sink in forest stands, and that the old-, mid- and young-aged forests have sequestrated 930, 391 and 388 Tg C from 1977 to 2008. | 2 | Terrestrial carbon sinks in China and around the world and their contribution to carbon neutrality显示文摘Enhancing the terrestrial ecosystem carbon sink(referred to as terrestrial C sink) is an important way to slow down the continuous increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide(CO_(2)) concentration and to achieve carbon neutrality target.To better understand the characteristics of terrestrial C sinks and their contribution to carbon neutrality,this review summarizes major progress in terrestrial C budget researches during the past decades,clarifies spatial patterns and drivers of terrestrial C sources and sinks in China and around the world,and examines the role of terrestrial C sinks in achieving carbon neutrality target.According to recent studies,the global terrestrial C sink has been increasing from a source of (-0.2±0.9) Pg C yr^(-1)(1 Pg=1015g)in the 1960s to a sink of (1.9±1.1) Pg C yr^(-1) in the 2010s.By synthesizing the published data,we estimate terrestrial C sink of 0.20–0.25 Pg C yr^(-1) in China during the past decades,and predict it to be 0.15–0.52 Pg C yr^(-1) by 2060.The terrestrial C sinks are mainly located in the mid-and high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere,while tropical regions act as a weak C sink or source.The C balance differs much among ecosystem types:forest is the major C sink;shrubland,wetland and farmland soil act as C sinks;and whether the grassland functions as C sink or source remains unclear.Desert might be a C sink,but the magnitude and the associated mechanisms are still controversial.Elevated atmospheric CO_(2) concentration,nitrogen deposition,climate change,and land cover change are the main drivers of terrestrial C sinks,while other factors such as fires and aerosols would also affect ecosystem C balance.The driving factors of terrestrial C sink differ among regions.Elevated CO_(2) concentration and climate change are major drivers of the C sinks in North America and Europe,while afforestation and ecological restoration are additionally important forcing factors of terrestrial C sinks in China.For future studies,we recommend the necessity for intensive and long-term ecosystem C monitoring over broad geographic scale to improve terrestrial biosphere models for accurately evaluating terrestrial C budget and its dynamics under various climate change and policy scenarios. | Yuanhe Yang Yue Shi Wenjuan Sun Jinfeng Chang Jianxiao Zhu Leiyi Chen Xin Wang Yanpei Guo Hongtu Zhang Lingfei Yu Shuqing Zhao Kang Xu Jiangling Zhu Haihua Shen Yuanyuan Wang Yunfeng Peng Xia Zhao Xiangping Wang Huifeng Hu Shiping Chen Mei Huang Xuefa Wen Shaopeng Wang Biao Zhu Shuli Niu Zhiyao Tang Lingli Liu Jingyun Fang | 2022 | Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,5: | 32 |
| 3 | Ultralong cycle life enabled by in situ growth of CoMo_(1-x)P/Mo heterostructure for lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘Lithium-sulfur batteries(Li-S batteries) are considered as promising new-generation electrochemical energy storage devices due to their extremely high theoretical energy density(2600 Wh kg-1) and theoretical specific capacity(1675 m Ah g^(-1)). However, numerous problems such as poor conductivity and the shuttle effect during discharge-charge process limit the practical application of lithium-sulfur batteries. In this work, porous tubular Co Mo_(1-x)P/Mo constructed by in situ growth of metal Mo was designed as the sulfur host for lithium-sulfur batteries. The introduction of Mo modulated the electronic structure of Co Mo P to improve the conductivity of cathode and facilitate the redox kinetics, as well as the Co Mo_(1-x)P/Mo heterostructure was beneficial to inhibit the shuttle effect through the interaction with lithium polysulfides, which improved cycling stability. As a result, Co Mo_(1-x)P/Mo/S cathode had a low-capacity decay rate of only 0.029% per cycle after 2000 cycles at 0.5 C. | 9 | Controlled preparation and self-assembly of NdVO_4 nanocrystals显示文摘Phase-pure t-NdVO_4 nanocrystals with different shapes have been synthesized by facile and repeatable hydrothermal methods. The as-synthesized t-NdVO_4 nanoparticles were characterized by various techniques of X-ray diffraction(XRD). scanning electron microscope(SEM) and transmission electron microscope(TEM). The growth process and assembly behavior of t-NdVO_4 nanorod arrays were investigated. The results show that the morphology of t-NdV04 nanocrystals is greatly related to the pH value of precursor solution and that strong basic solution is not in favor of the formation of t-NdVO_4 nanoparticles. Due to the strong adhesive action and stabilization of OH^-ions to some crystal faces of NdVO_4, neodymium vanadate crystallite grows into oriented short nanorods and then into nanorod arrays. | 11 | Investigation on the radioactivity levels of seawater,sediments,and biota in Daya Bay,China显示文摘Objective:To investigate the radioactivity levels of seawater,sediments,and biota in the Daya Bay sea area,China,in order to establish the radioactivity baseline values,and provide basic data for the assessment of potential radiological risks that might result from the application of nuclear technology or human activities.Methods:Samples of seawater,sediments,and biota were collected from the Daya Bay sea area and analyzed.Their radioactivity baseline data were then compared with information from other regions in China and around the world reported in related literature.Results:For the seawater samples,the activity concentrations of natural radionuclide ^(40)K were 9.9-10.4 Bq/L,while ^(238)U,226Ra,^(210)Pb,^(137)Cs,and ^(110)Ag^(m) were below the minimum detectable activity(MDA).Regarding the sediment samples,the activity concentrations of ^(238)U,^(228)Ra,^(226)Ra,^(210)Pb,^(40)K,and ^(137)Cs were 38.1-40.4,49.1-53.7,32.6-38.6,59-95,590-650,and 0.48-0.88 Bq/(kg dry weight),respectively,while ^(110)Agm was below the MDA.For the marine shrimps in the biota samples,the activity concentrations of ^(228)Ra,^(226)Ra,^(40)K,and ^(137)Cs were 1.14-2.75,0.17-0.43,63-76,and 0.038-0.045 Bq/(kg wet weight),respectively,while ^(238)U,^(210)Pb,and ^(110)Agm were all below the MDA.Furthermore,for the marine fishes in the biota samples,the activity concentrations of ^(228)Ra,^(226)Ra,^(210)Pb,^(40)K,and ^(137)Cs were 2.1-19.7,0.32-3.78,<2.2-2.8,59-70,and<0.007-0.026 Bq/(kg wet weight),respectively,while ^(238)U and ^(110)Ag^(m) were all below the MDA.^(228)Ra was found to be concentrated in Osteomugil ophuyseni with 19.7 Bq/(kg wet weight).Conclusions:The radioactivity levels of seawater and marine sediments in the Daya Bay sea area are within the range of the normal background values.Osteomugil ophuyseni exhibited higher concentrations of ^(228)Ra than other species in this study,while the other species in the biota show no significant difference in the radioactivity levels from data in relevant literature. | Fan Cui Honghui Huang Yi Shen Zhan Tan Pengxiang Qu Ming Dai Hongwei Yu Weixu Huang Zixiang Wu Huifeng Chen Weizhen Guo Yuxin Jia Yanbing Liu | 2023 | Radiation Medicine and Protection2023,4,3: | 0 |

| 13 | Effects of landscape fragmentation of plantation forests on carbon storage in the Loess Plateau,China显示文摘Tree plantation and forest restoration are the major strategies for enhancing terrestrial carbon sequestration and mitigating climate change.The Grain for Green Project in China has positively impacted global carbon sequestration and the trend towards fragmentation of plantation forests.Limited studies have been conducted on changes in plantation biomass and stand structure caused by fragmentation,and the effect of fragmentation on the carbon storage of plantation forests remains unclear.This study evaluated the differences between carbon storage and stand structure in black locust forests in fragmented and continuous landscape in the Ansai District,China and discussed the effects of ecological significance of four landscape indices on carbon storage and tree density.We used structural equation modelling to explore the direct and indirect effects of fragmentation,edge,abiotic factors,and stand structure on above-ground carbon storage.Diameter at breast height(DBH)in fragmented forests was 53.3%thicker,tree density was 40.9%lower,and carbon storage was 49.8%higher than those in continuous forests;for all given DBH>10 cm,the trees in fragmented forests were shorter than those in continuous forests.The patch area had a negative impact on carbon storage,i.e.,the higher the degree of fragmentation,the lower the density of the tree;and fragmentation and distance to edge(DTE)directly increased canopy coverage.However,canopy coverage directly decreased carbon storage,and fragmentation directly increased carbon storage and tree density.In non-commercial forests,fragmentation reduces the carbon storage potential of plantation,and the influence of patch area,edge,and patchy connection on plantation should be considered when follow-up trees are planted and for the plantation management.Thus,expanding the area of plantation patches,repairing the edges of complex-shaped patches,enhancing the connectivity of similar patches,and applying nutrients to plantation forests at regular intervals are recommended in fragmented areas of the Loess Plateau. | LEI Hangyu DUAN Dantong CHEN Yi GUO Huifeng LI Jiangtao LI Xiang | 2024 | Journal of Arid Land2024,16,2: | 0 |
| 14 | Impact of satellite blood culture on early diagnosis of sepsis显示文摘Background:The aim of this study was to assess whether satellite blood culture(SBC)can improve turnaround times,antibiotic switching,and patient prognosis,relative to laboratory blood culture(LBC).Methods:Patients with sepsis treated in the intensive care units(ICUs)of Henan Provincial People’s Hospital from February 5,2018 to January 19,2019 who met the inclusion criteria were recruited to the study and divided into the SBC group and LBC group according to different blood culture methods.Patient demographics,blood culture,antibiotic adjustment,and prognosis data were collected and compared between the two groups.Results:A total of 204 blood culture sets from 52 ICU patients,including 100 from the medical microbiology LBC group and 104 from the SBC group,were analyzed in this study.There was no significant difference in the positive rates between the two groups.Time from specimen collection to incubation was significantly shorter in the SBC group than that in the LBC group(1.65 h vs.3.51 h,z=−4.09,P<0.001).The median time from specimen collection to notification of blood culture positivity was 24.83 h in the SBC group and 27.83 h in the LBC group.Median times from adjustment of antibiotics according to the first report were 26.05 h and 51.71 h in the SBC and LBC groups,respectively,while those according to the final report were 97.17 h and 111.45 h,respectively.Median ICU lengths of stay were 15.00 days and 17.00 days in the SBC and LBC groups,respectively,and median ICU lengths of stay were 18.00 days and 23.50 days,respectively.Mean hospitalization costs were 157.99 and 186.73 thousand yuan in the SBC and LBC groups,respectively.Conclusion:SBC can significantly reduce blood culture turnaround times;however,there were no significant differences between the two blood culture methods in initial reporting of positive cultures,time to adjustment of antibiotic therapy,or medical costs,despite a trend toward improvement. | Ziqi Guo Bo Guo Shanmei Wang Huifeng Zhang Wenxiao Zhang Bingyu Qin Huanzhang Shao | 2022 | Journal of Intensive Medicine2022,2,1: | 0 |

| 17 | Non-fullerene acceptor pre-aggregates enable high efficiency pseudo-bulk heterojunction organic solar cells显示文摘Pseudo-bulk heterojunction(BHJ)fabricated by sequential casting of donor and acceptor layers has been recently demonstrated as a superior structure to prepare organic solar cells(OSCs)with enhanced efficiency compared to the conventional BHJ OSCs cast from a common solution of donors and acceptors.However,molecular diffusion and aggregation within the pseudo-BHJ layer bring great challenges to fully realize the advantage of pseudo-BHJ structure.Herein,a solution-incubated pre-aggregation strategy is employed to tune the nanoscale aggregates of non-fullerene acceptor(NFA)BTP-e C11 and N3 to substantially enhance device power-conversion efficiency(PCE).NFA pre-aggregates are incubated in solutions via aging or adding antisolvent,and then sequentially cast onto D18 fibrillar network,which then penetrate to form a pseudo-BHJ structure with appropriate domain sizes to ensure superior charge mobilities.While the conventional pseudo-BHJ OSCs obtain inferior PCEs below 17%compared with normal BHJ OSCs,NFA pre-aggregates help to achieve remarkable PCEs of 17.7%and 17.5%for D18/BTP-e C11 and D18/N3 pseudo-BHJ OSCs.This work demonstrates that the solution-incubated nanoscale pre-aggregation is an efficient approach to regulate molecular diffusion and aggregation to guarantee high performance pseudo-BHJ OSCs. | Donghui Li Chuanhang Guo Xue Zhang Baocai Du Cong Yu Pang Wang Shili Cheng Liang Wang Jinlong Cai Hui Wang Dan Liu Huifeng Yao Yanming Sun Jianhui Hou Tao Wang | 2022 | Science China Chemistry2022,65,2: | 0 |
| 18 | Synergistic effect of V and Fe in Ni/Fe/V ternary layered double hydroxides for efficient and durable oxygen evolution reaction显示文摘High-performance and stable electrocatalysts are vital for the oxygen evolution reaction(OER).Herein,via a one-pot hydrothermal method,Ni/Fe/V ternary layered double hydroxides(NiFeV-LDH)derived from Ni foam are fabricated to work as highly active and durable electrocatalysts for OER.By changing the feeding ratio of Fe and V salts,the prepared ternary hydroxides were optimized.At an Fe:V ratio of 0.5:0.5,NiFeV-LDH exhibits outstanding OER activity superior to that of the binary hydroxides,requiring overpotentials of 269 and 274 mV at 50 mA·cm^(−2)in the linear sweep voltammetry and sampled current voltammetry measurements,respectively.Importantly,NiFeV-LDH shows extraordinary long-term stability(≥75 h)at an extremely high current density of 200 mA·cm^(−2).In contrast,the binary hydroxides present quick decay at 200 mA·cm^(−2)or even reduced current densities(150 and 100 mA·cm^(−2)).The outstanding OER performance of NiFeV-LDH benefits from the synergistic effect of V and Fe while doping the third metal into bimetallic hydroxide layers:(a)Fe plays a crucial role as the active site;(b)electron-withdrawing V stabilizes the high valence state of Fe,thus accelerating the OER process;(c)V further offers great stabilization for the formed intermediate of FeOOH,thus achieving superior durability. | Lihong Chen Ruxin Deng Shaoshi Guo Zihuan Yu Huiqin Yao Zhenglong Wu Keren Shi Huifeng Li Shulan Ma | 2023 | Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2023,17,1: | 0 |
