| 1 | Micro RNA expression in hepatitis C virus-related malignancies: A brief review显示文摘Not only is chronic hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection a major public health problem, but also it can cause hepatocellular carcinoma and, more rarely, nonHodgkin's lymphoma. These characteristics mean that HCV is the only virus infecting humans that is able to cause two different cancers. The fine pathogenetic and molecular mechanisms by which HCV induces these two malignancies are not completely clear. In the last decade,it has been shown that microRNAs(miRNAs),a class of 21-23-nucleotide molecules modulating posttranscriptional gene expression, make an important contribution to the pathogenesis of several cancers and are also considered highly promising biomarkers. Here,we briefly describe the current knowledge about microRNAs' involvement in HCV-related molecular oncogenesis. We decided to focus our attention on studies fully conducted on ex vivo samples with this specific etiology, and on cultured cell lines partially or completely expressing the HCV genome. Some of the results reported in this review are controversial, possibly because of methodological issues, differences in sampling size and features, and ethnicity of patients. What is certain is that miRNAs play a remarkable role in regulating gene expression during oncogenetic processes and in viral infection.A clear understanding of their effects is fundamental to elucidating the mechanisms underlying virus-induced malignancies. | Laura Gragnani Alessia Piluso Elisa Fognani Anna Linda Zignego | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,28: | 2 |
| 2 | Molecular detection of vector-borne bacteria and protozoa in healthy hunting dogs from Central Italy显示文摘Objective:To determine the pi'evalence of vector-bome bacteria and protozoa in hunting dogs living in Central Italy. Methods:Molecular testing was executed on DNA which was extracted from blood specimens collected from 117 asymptomatic dogs to detect Anaplasma phagocytophilum,Babesia canis(B.canis),Bartonella spp..Coxiella burnetii(C.burnetii).Ehrlichia canis.Hepatozoon canis.and Leislnnania infantum. Results:A total of 48 dogs(41.0%) were infested by Ixodes ricinus and Rhipicephalus sanguineus ticks.Tick-borne infections were observed in 64(54.7%) animals.More in detail.38 dogs(32.5%) screened positive for Hepatozoon canis,24(20.5%) for Bartonella rinsonii subsp.berkhoffii.20(17.1%) for Leishmania infantum,6(5.1%) for C.burnetii,5(4.3%) for B.canis(3 B.canis vogeli and 2 B.canis canis),3(2.5%) for Anaplasma phagocytophilum, and 2(1.7%) for Ehrlichia canis.Mixed infection by 2 agents occurred in 17(14.5%) subjects,by 3 agents in 7(6.0%) dogs, and by 4 agents in 1(0.9%) animal. Conclusions:The results demonstrated that several vector-borne pathogens were circulating in this region and dogs infected by these agents were usually asymptomatic.A relevant finding was the presence of DNA of C.burnetii,a severe zoonotic agent,in the 5.1% of tested dogs, which can be source of infection for their owners not only through tick bites, but also directly with urine, feces and birth products. | Valentina Virginia Ebani Simona Nardoni Giulia Fognani Linda Mugnaini Fabrizio Bertelloni Guido Rocchigiani Roberto Amerigo Papini Francesco Stefani Francesca Mancianti | 2015 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2015,5,2: | 1 |

| 8 | Hepatitis C virus-related mixed cryoglobulinemia: Is genetics to blame?显示文摘Mixed cryoglobulinemia(MC)is the extrahepatic manifestation most strictly correlated with hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection;it is a benign autoimmune and lymphoproliferative disorder that evolves to lymphoma in5%-10%of cases.MC is reputed to be a multistep and multifactorial process whose pathogenicity is still poorly understood. It is still unknown why only some chronically infected HCV patients develop MC and only some of these exhibit systemic symptoms(MC syndrome).Several studies have investigated the pathogenetic basis of MC and the most recent ones suggest that the virus is able to trigger such a disorder only in the presence of genetic factors that are still unknown. Here,we try to clarify the complex relationship between HCVrelated MC and the host’s genetic background. The data that we report are heterogeneous and sometimes even conflicting. Therefore, large, multicenter studies are clearly needed. The identification of a characteristic genetic signature of cryoglobulinemic patients would be an important step toward a personalized approach in their clinical care. The new wide-ranging genomics technologies will hopefully help to resolve these complex issues. | Laura Gragnani Elisa Fognani Alessia Piluso Anna Linda Zignego | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,47: | 1 |
