3Effect of Primary and Eutectic Mg_2Si Crystal Modifications on the Mechanical Properties and Sliding Wear Behaviour of an Al–20Mg_2Si–2Cu–xBi Composite显示文摘This work investigated the microstructure evolution, tensile, impact, hardness, and sliding wear properties of an Al–20Mg_2Si–2Cu in situ composite treated with different Bi contents. The desired modification of primary Mg_2 Si particles was achieved with the addition of 0.4 wt% Bi. Increasing Bi beyond 0.4 wt%resulted in a loss of modification, possibly due to the formation of Al_8 MgB iS i4 compound before the precipitation of the primary Mg_2 Si. Additionally, the structure of the pseudo-eutectic Mg_2 Si was transformed from plate to fibrous, which was consistent with decrease of growth temperature extracted from the cooling curve thermal analysis. Addition of Bi had an effect on the morphology of Al_5 Fe Si(β), Al_2Cu(θ) and Al_5Cu_2Mg_8Si_6(Q) intermetallic compounds. The tensile strength, elongation percentage, impact toughness, and hardness increased by 6%, 13%, 75%, and 23%, respectively, due to modification of both the primary and eutectic Mg_2 Si crystals. The tensile and impact fracture surfaces showed fewer decohered particles in the Bi-treated composite. 4Incremental value of magnetic resonance neurography of Lumbosacral plexus over non-contributory lumbar spine magnetic resonance imaging in radiculopathy: A prospective study显示文摘AIM: To test the incremental value of 3T magnetic resonance neurography(MRN) in a series of unilateral radiculopathy patients with non-contributory magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).METHODS: Ten subjects(3 men,7 women; mean age54 year and range 22-74 year) with unilateral lumbar radiculopathy and with previous non-contributory lumbar spine MRI underwent lumbosacral(LS) plexus MRN over a period of one year. Lumbar spine MRI performed as part of the MRN LS protocol as well as bilateral L4-S1 nerves,sciatic,femoral and lateral femoral cutaneous nerves were evaluated in each subject for neuropathy findings on both anatomic(nerve signal,course and caliber alterations) and diffusion tensor imaging(DTI)tensor maps(nerve signal and caliber alterations).Minimum fractional anisotropy(FA) and mean apparent diffusion coeffcient(ADC) of L4-S2 nerve roots,sciatic and femoral nerves were recorded.RESULTS: All anatomic studies and 80% of DTI imaging received a good-excellent imaging quality grading. In a blinded evaluation,all 10 examinations demonstrated neural and/or neuromuscular abnormality corresponding to the site of radiculopathy. A number of contributory neuropathy findings including double crush syndrome were observed. On DTI tensor maps,nerve signal and caliber alterations were more conspicuous. Although individual differences were observed among neuropathic appearing nerve(lower FA and increased ADC) as compared to its contralateral counterpart,there were no significant mean differences on statistical comparison of LS plexus nerves,femoral and sciatic nerves(P > 0.05).CONCLUSION: MRN of LS plexus is useful modality for the evaluation of patients with non-contributory MRI of lumbar spine as it can incrementally delineate the etiology and provide direct objective and non-invasive evidence of neuromuscular pathology.Avneesh Chhabra Sahar J Farahani Gaurav K Thawait Vibhor Wadhwa Allan J Belzberg John A Carrino 2016World Journal of Radiology2016,8,1:4

6Simplified microsatellite instability detection protocol provides equivalent sensitivity to robust detection strategies in Lynch syndrome patients显示文摘Objective:Germline mutations in mismatch repair(MMR)genes cause Lynch syndrome(LS).LS is an inherited disease,and an important consequence of MMR deficiency is microsatellite instability(MSI)phenotype.MSI phenotype influences the efficacy of5 fluorouracil(5-FU)chemotherapy.Reproducible,cost effective,and easy to perform laboratory tests are required to include MSI detection in routine laboratory practice.Evaluation of CAT25 as monomorphic short tandem repeat sequence enables CAT25 to be an efficient screening tool among hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer(HNPCC)patients compared with other methods used currently.Methods:Based on Amsterdam II criteria,31 patients in 31 families were shortlisted from a total number of 1,659 colorectal cancer patients.MSI status was examined in these patients using CAT25 and a commercially available Promega MSI five-markerbased detection system as well as immunohistochemical(IHC)staining of four important MMR proteins.Patients were scored as high microsatellite instable(MSI-H),low(MSI-L),or stable(MSS).MSI status determined by CAT25 single mononucleotide marker was compared with that of five mononucleotide markers,Promega commercial kit,and IHC method.Results:MMR protein deficiency was observed on 7/31 probands using IHC methodology and 6/31 categorized as MSI-H using commercial kit or CAT25 single marker.The sensitivity and specificity of the CAT25 single marker were the same as those detected by five-marker Promega commercial kit in our patients.Conclusions:Based on our results,the performance of the CAT25 single mononucleotide marker for MSI status determination in our HNPCC patients is the same as that of the five-marker-based commercial kit.Hadi Babaei Mehrdad Zeinalian Mohammad Hassan Emami Mortaza Hashemzadeh Najmeh Farahani Rasoul Salehi 2017Cancer Biology & Medicine2017,14,2:3

9An investigation of the seismic behavior of a deck-type reinforced concrete arch bridge显示文摘This paper attempts to explore potential benefits of form in a deck-type reinforced concrete(RC) arch bridge in connection with its overall seismic behavior and performance. Through a detailed three-dimensional finite element modeling and analysis of an actual existing deck-type RC arch bridge, some useful quantitative information have been derived that may serve for a better understanding of the seismic behavior of such arch bridges. A series of the nonlinear dynamic analyses has been carried out under the action of seven different time histories of ground motion scaled to the AASHTO 2012 response spectrum. The concept of demand to capacity ratios has been employed to provide an initial estimation of the seismic performance of the bridge members. As a consequence of the structural form, a particular type of irregularity is introduced due to variable heights of columns transferring the deck loads to the main arch. Hence, a particular attention has been paid to the internal force/moment distributions within the short, medium, and long columns as well as along the main arch.
