| 1 | New approaches for diagnosis of dry eye disease显示文摘We reviewed the literature for different diagnostic approaches for dry eye disease(DED) including the most recent advances, contradictions and promising diagnostic tools and technique. We performed a broad literature search for articles discussing different methods for diagnosis of DED including assessment of tear osmolarity, tear film stability, ocular biomarkers and others. Articles indexed in PubMed and google scholar were included. With the growing cosmetic industry, environmental pollution, and booming of digital screens, DED is becoming more prevalent. Its multifactorial etiology renders the diagnosis challenging and invites the emergence of new diagnostic tools and tests. Diagnostic tools can be classified, based on the parameter they measure, into tear film osmolarity, functional visual acuity, tear volume, tear turnover, tear film stability, tear film composition, ocular biomarkers and others. Although numerous methods exist, the most accurate diagnosis can be reached through combining the results of more than one test. Many reported tests have shown potential as diagnostic/screening tools, however, require more research to prove their diagnostic power, alone or in combination. | 4 | Occurrence and ecotoxicological risk assessment of pesticides in sediments of the Rosetta branch,Nile River, Egypt显示文摘This study aimed to(1) monitor the occurrence and spatiotemporal variations of 100 pesticides in sediments collected monthly from July 2018 to June 2019 from sampling sites in El-Rahawy, Sabal, and Tala, along the Rosetta branch of the Nile River, Egypt, and(2) perform an ecological risk assessment for aquatic organisms upon exposure to the detected sediment pesticides based on the risk quotient(RQ) method. Out of the 100 pesticides monitored, 16 pesticides belonging to seven chemical families were detected, and 55% of the sediment samples were contaminated with one or more pesticide residues. The mean concentration(mg/kg dry weight(dw)) and detection frequency(%) of the four most frequently detected pesticides in the sediment samples were as follows: chlorpyrifos(0.18 mg/kg dw and 34%), p,p-DDE(0.018 mg/kg dw and 30%), cypermethrin(0.03 mg/kg dw and 14%), and deltamethrin(0.026 mg/kg dw and 13%). The spatial distribution exhibited that El-Rahawy had the highest pesticide load(2.86 mg/kg dw) among the studied sites, whereas the temporal variations revealed that the highest total pesticide concentrations were detected in winter season(1.73 mg/kg dw). | 9 | Effect of Microalloying Additions on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Low Carbon Steel显示文摘Low carbon steels are characterized by good weldability,formability and fracture toughness properties.However,the low strength levels of these steel grades limit their wide applications.On the other hand,increasing the strength by increasing the carbon content and alloying elements deteriorates the other properties.In this study,the microalloying technique was used to examine the possibility of attaining low carbon steels with good combination of strength,ductility and impact properties.A low carbon steel microalloyed with single addition of vanadium and another one microalloyed with combined addition of vanadium and titanium were used in this investigation and their properties were compared with non-microalloyed low carbon steel having the same base composition.Furthermore,other two nonmicroalloyed and V-microalloyed steels with higher carbon,silicon and manganese contents were also investigated to reveal the effect of base composition.Tensile,hardness,room and zero temperature Charpy V-notch impact tests were conducted to evaluate the variations in the mechanical properties of low carbon hot forged steel containing vanadium and combinations of vanadium and titanium.In addition,the microstructures of the different investigated steels were observed using both optical microscope and scanning electron microscope.Furthermore,the hardness of the ferrite phase was also determined using micro-hardness technique.The results showed improvement of the mechanical properties of the investigated steels by both single V-and combined V + Ti-microadditions.Tensile,hardness and impact tests results indicated that good combinations of strength,ductility and impact properties can be achieved by V-microalloying addition.Steel with combination of V and Ti microaddition has much higher hardness,yield strength,ultimate tensile strength and impact energy at both room and zero temperatures compared with non-microalloyed and single Vmicroalloyed steels.Higher C,Si and Mn contents result in increasing the strength accompanied with decreasing the impact energy.Scanning electron microscopy and optical microscopy studies revealed grain refinement effect of both Vand V+Ti-microadditions.The micro-hardness measurements of the ferrite phase confirmed the precipitation strengthening effect of microalloying elements. | EISSA Mamdouh ABD El-Aziz Ahmed GHALI Saeed HALFA Hossam SABER Shady | 2011 | Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2011,18,S1: | 2 |

| 14 | Vertical brush seed metering device for sweet sugar beet planter显示文摘In crop production,the mean condition for high productivity depends on singular seed holding in metering device of sugar beet planters.A general design of vertical or horizontal feeding disc is only to plant the coated sugar beet seeds due to the irregularity of surrounding shape of seeds.The paper is focused on developed and constructed vertical brush metering device to plant the ordinary types of sugar beet seeds(multi or mono germs).The physical properties of sugar beet seed species have influences on the behavior of vertical brush metering device.To evaluate the vertical brush metering device,some properties of sugar beet species were determined and some experimental results of planting were identified in this paper.The main dimensions(length,width and thickness),sphericity,geometric and arithmetic mean diameter,surface area,bulk density and true density were identified as physical parameters.Meanwhile,the terminal velocity,and hardness were measured as engineering properties.The static coefficient of friction for multi-germ seeds under different surfaces(stainless steel,sheet galvanized,plastic and rubber)were 0.48±0.42;0.51±0.56;0.57±0.34 and 0.72±0.53 respectively,while they were 0.26±0.57;0.28±0.38;0.30±0.34 and 0.36±0.74 for the mono-germ seeds respectively under the above mentioned surfaces.The regressions analysis for the relationship between the main parameters of sugar beet seed indicated that the highest positive effective factors affecting the approximation physical sugar beet seeds properties is the width of sugar beet for multi-germ while the length is more effective for mono-germ seeds.The vertical brush metering device is one key part of sweet sugar beet planter;it was evaluated by assessing the actual relationship between the three density of hair per hole(50,75 and 100 hair/hole)and the feeding device parameters(seeding traveling and peripheral speeds of metering device).The seeds flow in brush device was controlled by seed lever control which lies in seed tank bottom.All parameters were measured at different levels of brush device with four peripheral speeds(0.16;0.24;0.32;and 0.4 m/s).Feeding quality,missing seeds,multiple indices and precision of seed index are the most common characteristics used to evaluate the metering device performance.The highest seed feed index was achieved on the brush device with hair density of 100 hair/hole for two different sugar beet varieties(Multi-germ of 83.07%and mono-germ of 80.56%).The lowest seed feed index was obtained from the experiments using the hair density of 50 hair/hole with peripheral brush speed of 0.4 m/s.The lower values of precision index indicate better performance of the brush device,therefore the lowest values were found at seeding speed of 2.0 m/s,0.3 m/s peripheral speed of feeding device and 100 hair/hole densities. | Ismail Z.Ebrahem Ayman H.Amer Eissa Wang Yingkuan | 2010 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2010,3,1: | 1 |
