1Effect of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt on pulmonary gas exchange in patients with portal hypertension and hepatopulmonary syndrome显示文摘AIM: To assess the impact of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) on pulmonary gas exchange and to evaluate the use of TIPS for the treatment of hepatopulmonary syndrome (HPS).METHODS: Seven patients, three of them with advanced HPS, in whom detailed pulmonary function tests were performed before and after TIPS placementat the University of Alabama Hospital and at the Hospital Clinic, Barcelona, were considered.RESULTS: TIPS patency was confirmed by hemodynamic evaluation. No changes in arterial blood gases were observed in the overall subset of patients. Transient arterial oxygenation improvement was observed in only one HPS patient, early after TIPS, but this was not sustained 4 mo later.CONCLUSION: TIPS neither improved nor worsened pulmonary gas exchange in patients with portal hypertension. This data does not support the use of TIPS as a specific treatment for HPS. 3The expression and functions of microRNAs in pancreatic adenocarcinoma and hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Pancreatic adenocarcinoma and hepatocellular carcinoma are devastating human malignancies that are characterized by poor prognosis,late onset,and a lack of known biomarkers.New diagnostic and therapeutic molecular targets are desperately needed to develop novel and effective treatment strategies.MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are an emerging class of molecules with roles in various cellular processes,including growth,survival,and apoptosis.Most importantly,aberrant expression of miRNAs has been implicated in cancer pathogenesis.miRNA expression profiles of pancreatic adenocarcinoma and hepatocellular carcinoma indicate selective overexpression of oncogenic miRNAs and down-regulation of tumor suppressive miRNAs in these cancers.This review summarizes results from key studies conducted to characterize the miRNA expression profiles of pancreatic adenocarcinoma and hepatocellular carcinoma and describes the potential mechanisms by which some oncogenic or tumor suppressive miRNAs act.Furthermore,this review outlines novel therapeutic strategies for targeting miRNAs.Wei Li Drake G. 5Engineering porous organic polymers for carbon dioxide capture显示文摘As atmospheric CO_2 levels rise, the development of physical or chemical adsorbents for CO_2 capture and separation is of great importance on the way towards a sustainable low-carbon future. Porous organic polymers are promising candidates for CO_2 capture materials owing to their structural flexibility, high surface area, and high stability. 7Isolation, screening and identifi cation of Bacillus spp. as direct-fed microbial candidates for aflatoxin B_1 biodegradation显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the ability of Bacillus spp. as direct-fed microbials(DFM) to biodegrade al atoxin B1(AFB1) by using an in vitro digestive model simulating in vivo conditions.Methods: Sixty-nine Bacillus isolates were obtained from intestines, and soil samples were screened by using a selective media method against 0.25 and 1.00 μg/m L of AFB1 in modii ed Czapek-Dox medium. Plates were incubated at 37 °C and observed every two days for two weeks. Physiological properties of the three Bacillus spp. candidates were characterized biochemically and by 16 S r RNA sequence analyzes for identii cation. Tolerance to acidic p H, osmotic concentrations of Na Cl, bile salts were tested, and antimicrobial sensitivity proi les were also determined. Bacillus candidates were individually sporulated by using a solid fermentation method and combined. Spores were incorporated into 1 of 3 experimental feed groups: 1) Negative control group, with unmedicated starter broiler feed without AFB1; 2) Positive control group, with negative control feed contaminated with 0.01% AFB1; 3) DFM treated group, with positive control feed supplemented with 109 spores/g. After digestion time(3:15 h), supernatants and digesta were collected for high-performance liquid chromatography l uorescence detection analysis by triplicate.Results: Three out of those sixty-nine DFM candidates showed ability to biodegrade AFB1 in vitro based on growth as well as reduction of l uorescence and area of clearance around each colony in modii ed Czapek-Dox medium which was clearly visible under day light after 48 h of evaluation. Analysis of 16S-DNA identii ed the strains as Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, Bacillus megaterium and Bacillus subtilis. The three Bacillus strains were tolerant to acidic conditions(p H 2.0), tolerant to a high osmotic pressure(Na Cl at 6.5%), and were able to tolerate 0.037% bile salts after 24 h of incubation. No signii cant dif erences(P > 0.05) were observed in the concentrations of AFB1 in neither the supernatants nor digesta samples evaluated by highperformance liquid chromatography with l uorescence detection between positive control or DFM treated groups. Conclusions: In vitro digestion time was not enough to confirm biodegradation of AFB1. 9Strawberry sweetness and consumer preference are enhanced by specific volatile compounds显示文摘Breeding crops for improved flavor is challenging due to the high cost of sensory evaluation and the difficulty of connecting sensory experience to chemical composition.The main goal of this study was to identify the chemical drivers of sweetness and consumer liking for fresh strawberries(Fragaria×ananassa).Fruit of 148 strawberry samples from cultivars and breeding selections were grown and harvested over seven years and were subjected to both sensory and chemical analyses.Each panel consisted of at least 100 consumers,resulting in more than 15,000 sensory data points per descriptor.Three sugars,two acids and 113 volatile compounds were quantified.Consumer liking was highly associated with sweetness intensity,texture liking,and flavor intensity,but not sourness intensity.Partial least square analyses revealed 20 volatile compounds that increased sweetness perception independently of sugars;18 volatiles that increased liking independently of sugars;and 15 volatile compounds that had positive effects on both.Machine learning-based predictive models including sugars,acids,and volatiles explained at least 25%more variation in sweetness and liking than models accounting for sugars and acids only.Volatile compounds such asγ-dodecalactone;5-hepten-2-one,6-methyl;and multiple medium-chain fatty acid esters may serve as targets for breeding or quality control attributes for strawberry products.A genetic association study identified two loci controlling ester production,both on linkage group 6 A.Co-segregating makers in these regions can be used for increasing multiple esters simultaneously.This study demonstrates a paradigm for improvement of fruit sweetness and flavor in which consumers drive the identification of the most important chemical targets,which in turn drives the discovery of genetic targets for marker-assisted breeding.Zhen Fan Tomas Hasing Timothy S.Johnson Drake M.Garner Michael L.Schwieterman Christopher R.Barbey Thomas A.Colquhoun Charles A.Sims Marcio F.R.Resende Vance M.Whitaker 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:2

20癫痫患者P50听觉诱发电位的研究显示文摘目的 探讨 P5 0在癫痫患者检测中的临床价值。方法 对 2 5例癫痫患者 (其中 7例额叶癫痫 ;18例颞叶癫痫 )进行 P5 0测试 ,分析 P5 0波的潜伏期和波幅 (峰峰值 )以及在不同刺激频率时 P5 0波幅 (峰峰值 )的比率。选择年龄、性别与患者组相匹配的 2 5名健康受试者对照组。结果 癫痫患者组 P5 0波的潜伏期较长 ,波幅则显著减低 ,其中以 18例颞叶癫痫患者表现显著 ,7例额叶癫痫患者不明显。刺激频率稍加快时 ,患者组 P5 0的波幅比率明显减小。结论 P5 0波的潜伏期和波幅反应异常与颞叶功能障碍密切相关 ,可帮助临床鉴别额、颞叶癫痫灶 ;其波幅衰减现象似与癫痫发作间期行为和认知改变相关 ,但也可能受药物的影响。童晓欣 Miles E.
