5Incidence and risk factors for vitreous loss in residents performing manual small-incision cataract surgery显示文摘AIM: To assess the incidence of vitreous loss and associated risk factors in residents performing manual small-incision cataract surgery(MSICS). METHODS: The present retrospective record review study was performed on 490 patients who underwent MSICS performed between November 2018 and December 2019 by 7 third-year postgraduate residents. The study group comprised of patients having intraoperative vitreous prolapse. All the surgeries were performed under supervision of a trained assistant. RESULTS: The mean age of the participants at the time of surgery was 68.42±2.05 y. Of the 490 patients, 250 patients were male, and 240 patients were female(P=0.23). A total of 215(43.9%) eyes had mature white cataract, 185(37.8%) eyes had brown cataract, and 90(18.3%) eyes had immature senile cataract. The incidence of intraoperative vitreous loss among residents was 2%(10/490). Vitreous loss occurred during hydrodissection [1/10(10%)], nucleus delivery [3/10(30%)], irrigation and aspiration [5/10(50%)], and intraocular lens insertion [1/10(10%)]. Multivariate stepwise Logistic regression analysis confirmed immature senile cataract [odds ratio(OR)=3.99;P=0.02], irrigation and aspiration of cortical material(OR=3.07;P=0.03), and anterior capsular extension(OR=3.22, P=0.03) as independent risk factors for vitreous loss. CONCLUSION: Immature senile cataract, irrigation and aspiration of cortical material, and anterior capsular extension are independent risk factors for vitreous loss. 6Vegetation succession and environmental changes in Central India during Early Cenozoic显示文摘In order to infer the climate and the floral changes during the early Cenozoic of central India, a critical analysis has been made of the generic composition of Deccan Intertrappean series of India, which is now known to a greater extent. Most of the information regarding Deccan Intertrappean flora is derived from the assemblages from Vidharbha-Chhindwara region and Mandla District in central India. The Vidharbha-Chhindwara region constituted by taxa representing all major groups of plant kingdom belonging to different habitats like(i) marine(3 genera of doubtful marine alga)(ii) estuarine(27 species of palms, Nypa and Viracorpon like Pandanaceous fruits, Sonneratia, Cocos like plants)(iii) fresh water(6 genera of fresh water algae, water ferns, Eichhornia, Nymphea like hydrophytic angiosperms)(iv) marshy(5 genera of bryophytes, water ferns, Selaginella and Equisetum like pteridophytes and many angiospermic plants showing aerenchymatous tissue and few parts infected by fungal spores) and(v) terrestrial(2 families of gymnosperms and 15 families of arborescent angiosperms). Mandla-Dindori District mainly comprise angiospermous flora. These constitute 15 species of palm woods and woods of 25 dicot families indicating terrestrial dry habitat. The fossil flora so far recovered from these beds indicate that the tropical evergreen to semi-evergreen type forests with some moist deciduous plants, similar to the present day forests of Western Ghats, and northeast India, were flourshing around Vidharbha, Chhindwara and Mandla area of Central India during Upper Cretaceous-Lower Tertiary period, in contrast to the present day dry deciduous to moist deciduous types of forest. This flora was well represented in India in the past but has become restricted to Burma and Andaman-Nicobar Islands due to change in the climatic conditions. The comparison of the temperature data from these fossiliferous localities and the comparable modern areas clearly indicates that the climate in Central India was much more uniform throughout the year.KAPGATE Dashrath Kisanji 2013科学通报2013,58,S1:0
7Palaeogene Angiosperm flora and environmental implications of Intertrappean Series of Central India显示文摘The Palaeogene represents the age of spread and diversification of angiosperms in the Indian sub-continent. The palaeogene plant megafossils of this region can broadly are considered under(i) Deccan Intertrappean flora of CentralIndia,(ii) Eocene flora of Kutch and(iii) Eocene plants fossils from Meghalaya. Among the fossil flora recovered from the Deccan Intertrappean sites of central India consists of well preserved fossil representing all the major groups of the Plant Kingdom. Among the reported angiosperms Aerorhizos, Aeschynomene, Cyperaceoxylon, Bridelioxylon(affinities with marshy Bridelia hamiltoniana), Nymphaeocaulon are the indicators of a marshy environment. Nipadites, Nypa, Cocos, Palmoxylon(Cocos) sundaram, Sonneratioxylon, Sahnianthus, Enigmocarpon, Viracarpon(affinities with Pandanaceae) are the indicators of coastal or estuarine, saline environment. Anogeissusoxylon, Boswellia, Phyllites, Sahnipushpum(affinities with Araceae), Ebenoxylon(affinities with Diospyros melanoxylon), Euphorbioxylon(affinities with Euphorbiaceae), Grewioxylon(affinities with Grewia tiliaefolia), Rhamnoxylon, Sapindoxylon, Syzygioxylon are capable of surviving in a climate not unlike the one prevailing presently in this region. Ailanthoxylon, Barringtonioxylon, Elaeocarpoxylon, Grewioxylon, Indocarpa(affinities with Guttiferae), Lagerstroemia, Musa and Musocaulon, Sparganium, Viracarpon are the indicators of a more humid climate in the past. The 38 species of Palmoxylon and 19 of other palm parts(Nypa excluded) variously described as Carpolithus, Deccanthus, Palmocarpon, Palmophyllum, Palmostrobus, Rhizopalmoxylon and Tricoccites are indicative of coastal habitat. Thus the reported flora consists of taxa belonging to marine, esturine, freshwater and terrestrial habitat with both evergreens to deciduous forms.
