| 1 | Genetic parameter estimates for growth traits at early stage of Pacific abalone,Haliotis discus hannai Ino显示文摘Heritability and genetic and phenotypic correlations were estimated for juvenile growth traits of Pacific abalone Haliotis discus hannai Ino.The estimates were calculated from shell length and shell width measurements on progeny resulting from 12 half-sib families and 36 full-sib families obtained using artificial fertilization of mating three females to each male.The measurements were taken at 10,20 and 30 d after fertilization.It was found that heritability estimates based on sire component ranged from 0.23 to 0.36 for shell length and 0.21 to 0.32 for shell width.Heritability estimates from dam component were larger than those from sire component at three ages,indicating presence of maternal effects,non-additive genetic effects and common environmental effects.Phenotypic correlations were significant at three ages(P < 0.05),with values of 0.92,0.93 and 0.92,respectively.Genetic correlations from the paternal half-sib correlation analysis were highly positive at three ages,with values of 0.50,0.78 and 0.81,respectively.The results suggest that selective breeding is an effective approach to improving growth traits of Pacific abalone stocks. | DENG Yuewen LIU Xiao ZHANG Guofan ZHAO Hongen | 2007 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2007,26,5: | 13 |
| 2 | Growth performance and physiological parameters of the second generation selected and control groups of Pinctada martensii显示文摘In May of 2007,the second generation selected (SS) and control (SC) groups of pearl oyster Pinctada martensii were established by selecting 10% breeders with the largest and mean shell length,respectively,from the first generation selected group.Growth performance of the SS and SC groups were compared on the basis of measurement data at Days 8,18,60,95,195 and 365.On Day 365,100 individuals (60.0–75.0 mm at shell length) were sampled from each group and then subjected to the experiment where physiological parameters such as filtrate rate,oxygen consumption and ammonia excretion were measured at 15,20,25 and 30°C.The results show that the SS group had significantly larger mean shell length and shell height than the SC group at Days 8,18,60,95,195 and 365 (P <0.05).The genetic gains at different ages varied from 6.0% to 17.0% for shell length and 5.7% to 14.6% for shell height,respectively.At 15,20,25 and 30 ° C,the SS groups had significantly larger filtrate rate than the SC group (P <0.05).At 15 and 25 °C,the differences in oxygen consumption rate between the SS and SC groups were not significant (P >0.05).At 20 and 30 °C,however,the oxygen consumption rate of the SS group was significantly larger than the SC group (P <0.05).At 15,20,25 and 30 °C,there were no significant differences in ammonia excretion rate between the SS and SC groups (P >0.05).The present results indicate that there existed considerable genetic variability in the base population and a further selection could be likely fruitful.Mass selection for faster growth might produce animals that had higher intake of metabolizable energy by virtue of faster filtrating behavior. | DENG Yuewen YU Ziniu DU Xiaodong WANG Qingheng FU Shao | 2011 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2011,30,2: | 10 |
| 3 | Experimental evaluation of heterobeltiosis and heterosis between two populations of Pacific abalone Haliotis discus hannai Ino显示文摘A2×2 factorial cross between two populations of Pacific abalone Haliotis discus hannai Ino,collected separately from Dalian(D)in China and Miyagi(M)in Japan,was conducted to compare performances in fertilization rate,hatching rate,metamorphosis rate and growth at days 20,43,160 and 330 between purebreds(DD and MM)and crossbreds(DM and MD)and investigate the magnitude of heterobeltiosis(better parent)and heterosis(mid-parent).Heterobeltiosis and heterosis for all the traits analyzed were evidently different between crossbreds DM and MD.Heterobeltiosis in the crossbred DM varied among traits,with values of 2.5% for the fertilization rate,2.2% for the hatching rate,-1.9% for the metamorphosis rate and 7.4% for the growth at the day 330.The crossbred DM displayed positive heterotic values for fertilization rate(5.4%),hatching rate(7.4%),metamorphosis rate(7.6%)and growth(12.0%)at the day 330.However,both heterobeltiosis and heterosis for all the traits in the crossbred MD were negative except those for the growth at days 20 and 43.The results indicate the importance of selecting superior hybrid varieties if the exploitation of hybrid vigor is considered in the Pacific abalone breeding program. | DENG Yuewen LIU Xiao WU Fucun ZHANG Guofan | 2008 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2008,27,4: | 3 |
| 4 | Effects of Morphological Traits on Total Weight of Clam Meretrix lamarchii显示文摘Clam Meretrix lamarchii is delicious seafood with high economic value. The M. lamarchii in present market is mainly collected from wild population due to the lack of large-scale artificial seed production. In 2013,we carried out the artificial seedling exploration of M. Lamarchii. The current study utilized several statistical methods to analyze the effects of morphological traits on M. Lamarchii,which may provide knowledge for clam quality seedlings breeding work. The samples of M. Lamarchii were randomly sampled from Donghai Island,Zhanjiang. Shell length( SL),shell width( SW),shell height( SH),ligament length( Li L),lunule length( Lu L) and total weight( TW) of two-year-old M. Lamarchii were measured. A correlation coefficient matrix was constructed based on the results,where the total weight was set as the dependent variable and others as independent variables. Path coefficient and correlation index were calculated,and the major phenotypic characters were determined. The results showed that all the correlation coefficients between independent variables and dependent variable were significant( P < 0. 01),with an exception of the lunule length( P > 0. 05). The effects of the shell length,shell width,and shell height on the total weight were significant( P < 0. 01),and the shell length had dominant effect on the weight as a key effective factor. The multiple regression equation between the weight and the other traits was established as Y_W=- 126. 784 + 1. 249X_(SL)+ 2. 036X_(SW)+ 0. 911 X_(SH),where YWis total weight,X_(SL),X_(SW)and X_(SH)are the shell length,shell width and shell height,respectively. | 16 | Establishment of a rat model of severe spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage显示文摘Background:Severe intracerebral hemorrhage(ICH)is the most devastating subtype of stroke resulting in high mortality and disability.At present,the development of targeted treatments to minimize the high morbidity and mortality is limited partly due to the lack of a severe ICH animal model.In this study,we aimed to establish an accurate severe ICH model in rats and examine the pathological and physiological changes associated with ICH.Methods:A rat model of severe ICH model was established by intrastriatal injection of autologous blood using different blood volumes(ICH 100μL group,ICH 130μL group,ICH 160μL group,ICH 170μL group,and ICH 180μL group).The mortality was assessed during the 28-day post-ICH period.Short-and long-term neurological deficits were evaluated using the Longa method,foot fault,falling latency,and Morris water maze tests.Brain water content,hematoma volume,hemoglobin content,and magnetic resonance imaging were assessed to determine the extent of brain injury.Immunofluorescence staining was conducted to examine microglial activation and neuronal apoptosis.Hematoxylin and eosin(H&E)staining,lung water content,and western blotting were used to assess lung injury following ICH.Results:The mortality of ICH rats increased significantly with an increase in autologous blood injection.The 28-day mortality in the 100μL,130μL,160μL,170μL,and 180μL ICH groups were 5%,20%,40%,75%,and 100%,respectively.A significantly higher 28-day mortality was observed in the ICH 160μL group compared to the ICH 100μL group.The ICH 160μL group exhibited significantly increased neurological deficits,brain edema,hematoma volume,and hemoglobin content compared to the sham group.Compared with the sham operation group,the activation of microglia and neuronal death in ICH 160μL rats increased.The use of H&E staining and western blotting demonstrated that disruption of the intra-alveolar structure,alveolar edema,and infiltration of inflammatory cells and cytokines into the lung tissue were more severe in the ICH 160μL group than the sham group.Conclusions:A severe ICH model in rats was successfully established using an injection of autologous blood at a volume of 160μL.This model may provide a valuable tool to examine the pathological mechanisms and potential therapeutic interventions of severe ICH. | Shuixiang Deng Shengjie Feng Yuewen Xin Yu He Yao Wang Mi Tian Ye Gong | 2024 | Journal of Intensive Medicine2024,4,1: | 0 |
