| 6 | Analysis of vegetation changes and dominant factors on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, China显示文摘This research was undertaken to clarify the characteristics of vegetation change and its main influencing factors on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Using the greenness rate of change(GRC) and correlation factors, we analyzed the trend of vegetation change and its dominant factors from 2000 to 2015. The results indicate that the vegetation tended to improve from 2000 to 2015 on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, with the improved area accounting for 39.93% of the total; and the degraded area accounting for 19.32%. The areas of degraded vegetation are mainly concentrated in the low-relief and intermediate-relief mountains of the high-altitude and extremely high-altitude areas on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, as the vegetation characteristics are impacted by the terrain. Temperature and precipitation have obvious response mechanisms to vegetation growth, but the effects of precipitation and temperature on vegetation degradation are not significant over a short time frame. | 8 | Gut microbiota contributes to the development of endometrial glands in gilts during the ovary-dependent period显示文摘Background:The hyper-prolificacy Meishan gilts achieved a superior endometrial gland development(EGD)than white crossbred gilts during the ovary-independent period(before 60 d of age).Then,the EGD continues under the management of ovary-derived steroid hormones that regulated by gut microbiota(after 60 d of age).However,whether Meishan gilts’superiority in EGD lasting to the ovary-dependent period(after 60 d of age)and the role of gut microbiota in this period both remain unclear.Methods:Meishan gilts and Landrace x Yorkshire(LxY)gilts were raised under the same housing and feeding conditions until sexual maturity and then we compared their EGD and gut microbiota.Meanwhile,we transplanted fecal microbiota from Meishan gilts to L×Y gilts to explore the role of gut microbiota in EGD.We sampled plasma every 3 weeks and collected the uterus,ovary,liver,and rectal feces after the sacrifice.We then determined the hormone concentrations and expressions of the EGD-related genes.We also profiled the gut microbiota using 16S rDNA sequencing and metabolites of plasma and liver tissue using untargeted metabolomics.Finally,the correlation analysis and significant test was conducted between FMT-shifted gut microbes and EGD-related indices.Results:Meishan gilts have larger endometrial gland area(P<0.001),longer uterine horn length(P<0.01)but lighter uterine horn weight(P<0.05),a distinctive gut microbiota compared with L×Y gilts.Fecal microbiota transplantation(FMT)increased endometrial gland area(P<0.01).FMT markedly shifted the metabolite profiles of both liver and plasma,and these differential metabolites enriched in steroid hormone biosynthesis pathway.FMT increased estradiol and insulin-like growth factor 1 but decreased progesterone dynamically.FMT also increased the expression of the EGD-related genes estrogen receptor 1 gene,epithelial cadherin,and forkhead box protein A2.There is a significant correlation between FMT-shifted gut microbes and EGD-related indices.Conclusion:Sexually matured Meishan gilts achieved a superior EGD than LxY gilts.Meanwhile,gut microbiota contribute to the EGD potentially via regulating of steroid hormones during the ovary-dependent period. | Baoyang Xu Wenxia Qin Yiqin Yan Yimei Tang Shuyi Zhou Juncheng Huang Chunlin Xie Libao Ma Xianghua Yan | 2021 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2021,12,4: | 4 |
| 9 | Characterizing the induction of diabetes in juvenile cynomolgus monkeys with different doses of streptozotocin显示文摘Juvenile(2-3 years old) cynomolgus monkeys are frequently used as recipients in non-human primate islet transplantation studies.The aim of this study was to examine the effects of different doses of streptozotocin(STZ),and find the optimal dose for inducing diabetes in these monkeys.Fifteen juvenile(2-3 years old) cynomolgus monkeys were separated into three groups and administered with different doses of STZ(100,68 or 60 mg kg-1).Basal and glucose-stimulated blood glucose,insulin,and C-peptide levels,as well as body weights were monitored.Hepatic and renal function tests and pancreatic immunohistochemistry were performed before and after STZ treatment.Monkeys treated with both 100 and 68 mg kg-1 of STZ exhibited continuous hyperglycemia,which coincided with a nearly complete loss of islet--cells.Two monkeys received 60 mg kg-1 of STZ,but only one became completely diabetic.During the first week following STZ treatment,hepatic and renal function slightly increased in these three groups.However,24 hours post-STZ,serum total bile acid levels were significantly increased in monkeys treated with 100 mg kg-1 than those treated with 68 mg kg-1 of STZ(P<0.05).These data suggest that 100 mg kg-1 and 68 mg kg-1 of STZ can safely induce diabetes in cynomolgus monkeys aged 2-3 years,but 68 mg kg-1 of STZ,rather than 100 mg kg-1 of STZ,may be more appropriate for inducing diabetes in these monkeys.Furthermore,body surface area,rather than body weight,was a more reliable determinant of dosage,where 700 mg m-2 of STZ should be the lower limit for inducing diabetes in juvenile monkeys. | ZOU ChunLin WANG JiaYin WANG ShuYan HUANG Fen REN ZhenHua CHEN ZhiGuo ZHANG YU | 2012 | Science China(Life Sciences)2012,55,3: | 3 |

| 12 | Efficacy of Chaihu Jisang decoction on post-infection cough and its effect on cough reflex sensitivity显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the efficacy of Chaihu Ji Sang Decoction(CJSD),(a modification of Xiao Chaihu Tang(Minor Decoction of Bupleurum) was evaluated in patients with post-infection cough(PIC).Its effect on cough reflex sensitivity(CRS) was also described.METHODS:One hundred and eighteen patients with PIC were enrolled and randomly divided into an experimental group and control group(54 patients in each group).The experimental group was given CJSD orally,and the control group was given cetirizine hydrochloride for 7 d.Cough symptom scores and TCM symptom scores were compared before and after treatment.Efficacy,cough onset time,recurrence,and adverse drug reactions were additionally evaluated.Finally,CRS was evaluated before and after treatment of PIC patients in the experimental group.RESULTS:Fifty-two patients in the experimental group and fifty control patients completed the study.Cough symptom scores and the TCM symptom scores of the two groups were significantly improved after treatment,however cough symptoms in the experimental group 1(0,2) were significantly lower than the control group 2(1,2) after treatment(P < 0.05).Similarly,TCM symptom scores 4(0,7) in the experimental group were significantly lower than the control group 6(3,12)(P < 0.01).Overall,the effective rate of the experimental treatment(84.60%) was significantly higher than that of the control treatment(68.00%)(P < 0.01).The onset time of efficacy of the experimental treatment was one day faster than the control treatment [2(2,3) d vs 3(2,3) d,P < 0.01].The relapse rate in the experimental group(9.09%) was lower than that of the control group(29.41%)(P < 0.05).39 PIC patients in the experimental group completed a capsaicin cough challenge test before treatment.The lgC2 and lg C5 of the experimental group prior to treatment was 1.19(0.59,1.49) and 1.80(1.49,2.10),respectively.The lgC2,lg C5 of the healthy control group was 1.49(0.89,2.40) and 2.70(2.40,3.00),respectively.The differences in lgC2 and lg C5 between experimental group and healthy groups were significant at this time point(both P < 0.01).After treatment,34 patients in the experimental group received re-examination.lg C5 increased from 1.80(1.49,2.10) to 2.10(1.49,3.00).CRS after treatment/re-examination was significantly lower than those of baseline in the experimental group(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:CJSD could effectively improve the clinical symptoms of PIC patients,with demonstrable low recurrence and safety.CJSD also significantly decreased the CRS in patients with PIC. | Hong Minli Huang Baopei Hong Chunlin Chen Huinuan Chen Wenxi Liu Chaohui Li Xinjian Li Candong | 2018 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2018,38,4: | 2 |

We describe the functional blocks carrying out the Carrier Sense Multiple Accesses with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA), develop the interfaces to the application layer and the physical layer, and implement it on FPGA devices by utilizing Very-high-speed-integrated-circuit Hardware Description Language (VHDL). The novelty of our proposal is twofold. Firstly, all MAC parameters (i.e., Max/Min Contention Window, Data Unit Length, Fragmentation Threshold, Retry Limit, etc.) can be directly accessed and programmed from the application layer interface, which is necessary to achieve better network performance in dynamic environments. | 15 | Simultaneous estimation of surface soil moisture and soil properties with a dual ensemble Kalman smoother显示文摘In this paper, a new state-parameter estimation approach is presented based on the dual ensemble Kalman smoother(DEn KS) and simple biosphere model(Si B2) to sequentially estimate both the soil properties and soil moisture profile by assimilating surface soil moisture observations. The Arou observation station, located in the upper reaches of the Heihe River in northwestern China, was selected to test the proposed method. Three numeric experiments were designed and performed to analyze the influence of uncertainties in model parameters, atmospheric forcing, and the model's physical mechanics on soil moisture estimates. Several assimilation schemes based on the ensemble Kalman filter(En KF), ensemble Kalman smoother(En KS), and dual En KF(DEn KF) were also compared in this study. The results demonstrate that soil moisture and soil properties can be simultaneously estimated by state-parameter estimation methods, which can provide more accurate estimation of soil moisture than traditional filter methods such as En KF and En KS. The estimation accuracy of the model parameters decreased with increasing error sources. DEn KS outperformed DEn KF in estimating soil moisture in most cases, especially where few observations were available.
