| 1 | Conservation and Diversity of MicroRNA-associated Copper-regulatory Networks in Populus trichocarpa显示文摘Plants develop important regulatory networks to adapt to the frequently-changing availability of copper (Cu). However, little is known about miRNA-associated Cu-regulatory networks in plant species other than Arabidopsis. Here, we report that Cu-responsive miRNAs in Populus trichocarpa (Torr. & Gray) include not only conserved miR397, miR398 and miR408, but also Populus-specific miR1444, suggesting the conservation and diversity of Cu-responsive miRNAs in plants. Copper-associated suppression of mature miRNAs is in company with the up-regulation of their target genes encoding Cu-containing proteins in Populus. The targets include miR397-targeted PtLAC5, PtLAC6 and PtLAC110a, miR398- targeted PtCSD1, PtCSD2a and PtCSD2b, miR408-targeted PtPCL1, PtPCL2, PtPCL3 and PtLAC4, and miR1444-targeted PtPPO3 and PtPPO6. Consistently, P. trichocarpa miR408 promoter-directed GUS gene expression is down-regulated by Cu in transgenic tobacco plants. Cu-response elements (CuREs) are found in the promoters of Cu-responsive miRNA genes. We identified 34 SQUAMOSA-promoter binding protein-like (SPL) genes, of which 17 are full-length PtSPL proteins or partial sequences with at least 300 amino acids. Phylogenetic analysis indicates that PtSPL3 and PtSPL4 are CuRE-binding proteins controlling Cu-responsive gene expression. Cu appears to be not involved in the regulation of these transcription factors because neither PtSPL3 nor PtSPL4 is Cu-regulated and no CuRE exists in their promoters. | Shanfa Lu Chenmin Yang Vincent L. | 3 | Major royal jelly proteins accelerate onset of puberty and promote ovarian follicular development in immature female mice显示文摘The major royal jelly proteins(MRJPs)are the central constituents responsible for the specific activities of royal jelly.Here MRJPs via oral administration daily for 45 consecutive days were evaluated the effects on the reproductive parameters in immature female mice(FM).Neonatal FM were divided into four groups fed MRJPs with doses of 0,125,250 and 500 mg/kg/body weight(M125,M250 and M500).The results in M125,M250 and M500 showed that the times of estrus were accelerated by 10.7%,15.5%and 10.7%,the secondary follicles number were increased by 50.7%,78.8%and 38.6%,the Graafian follicles were increased by 600.0%and 774.0%and 150.0%,respectively.M500 induced multi-oocyte follicles.The serum estradiol levels of the three groups were increased by 47.1%,64.9%and 31.1%,the action of MRJPs raising hormone secretion level is mainly via upregulating expression of ERˇgene.Antioxidant parameters of ovarian tissue showed that the malondialdehyde levels in M125 and M250 were decreased,the superoxide dismutase activities and glutathione peroxidase activities in M125 and M250 were increased.In conclusion,MRJPs may accelerate onset of puberty and promote follicular development in FM.Our findings would facilitate better understanding of the benefit effect of MRJPs as the key ingredient in royal jelly on promoting fertility performance. | Xin Liu Chenmin Jiang Yong Chen Fangxiong Shi Chaoqiang Lai Lirong Shen | 2020 | Food Science and Human Wellness2020,9,4: | 4 |
| 4 | Synthesis of 2-Isopropyl Naphthalene Catalyzed by Et_3NHCl-AlCl_3 Ionic Liquids显示文摘In this paper, 2-isopropyl naphthalene has been synthesized by the reaction of naphthalene and isopropyl bromide, using triethylamine hydrochloride-aluminum chloride ionic liquid as the catalyst. The effect of the catalyst composition, the reaction time, the reaction temperature, the ionic liquid dosage, as well as the molar ratio of the reagents on the 2-isopropyl naphthalene yield was systematically investigated. The optimal reaction conditions cover: an AlCl3 to Et3NHCl ratio of 2.0, a reaction time of 3 h, a reaction temperature of 15.0 ℃, a volume fraction of ionic liquid to the mixture(isopropyl bromide, n-dodecane and n-hexane) of 9%, and a naphthalene/isopropyl bromide molar ratio of 4.0. Under the optimal reaction conditions, the conversion of isopropyl bromide reached 98% and the selectivity of 2-isopropyl naphthalene was equal to 80%. The test results verified good catalytic activity upon using Et3NHCl-AlCl3 ionic liquid as the catalyst for alkylation of naphthalene with isopropyl bromide. | 5 | Application of 2DMD to gaseous microflows显示文摘A two-dimensional molecular dynamics (2DMD) simulation is applied to gaseous microflows. Based on a velocity distribution function in equilibrium, the mean molecular speed, mean collision frequency, mean free path, and the dynamical viscosity are deduced theoretically. A Maxwell-type-like boundary condition for two-dimensional (2D) systems, which reveals a linear relationship between the slip length and the mean free path, is also derived. These expressions are consequently employed to investigate the rarefied gas flow in a submicron channel. | 6 | Evaluation of Clinical and MRI Staging for Prostate Cancer before Radical Prostatectomy显示文摘To evaluate the clinical significance of clinical staging and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) staging for prostate cancer before radical prostatectomy. Methods: Thirty-two patients with organ confined prostate cancer were reviewed to assess the accuracy of clinical staging and MRI staging to correlate with pathological staging results after radical prostatectomy. Results: 33.3% (10/30) prostate cancer patients with staging C and 3.3% (1/30) prostate cancer patients with staging D were diagnosed by pathology after radical prostatectomy in 30 patients with prostate cancer with clinical staging B, and 36.7% (11/30) under staging; Only one patient was over staging in clinical staging C. 19.1% (4/21) prostate cancer patients with staging C were diagnosed in 21 patients with prostate cancer and under staging with MRI staging B; 11.1% (1/9) was over staging with MRI staging C. The clinical staging and MRI staging had more correlation with pathological staging results (P=0.002), and PPV of the organ confined prostate cancer by clinical staging and MRI staging were 63.3% and 80.9% respectively, and NPV of nonorgan confined prostate cancer by clinical staging and MRI staging were 50% and 88.9% respectively. MRI staging was more specificity and accuracy than that of clinical staging to predict pathological staging results before radical prostatectomy (P=0.023). With increasing temperature the sample first has metallic behavior, then strong electrical fluctuations above 100℃, and finally exhib-its stable nonlinear properties characterized by semiconduc-tivity above 300℃ at low field (E ≤ 100 V/mm). The Ar-rhenius law for electrical conductivity by thermal activation is not suitable to explain the anomalous results. XRD analysis reveals that Bi2WO6 is the main phase and Bi4Ti3O12 is the second phase.
