3Ten cities cross-sectional questionnaire survey of children asthma and other allergies in China显示文摘Asthma,rhinitis and eczema(allergic or non-allergic)have increased throughout the world during the last decades,especially among children.Changes in the indoor environment are suspected to be important causes.China has experienced a dramatic change in indoor environmental exposures during the past two decades.However,such changes and their associations with children’s asthma and other health aspects have not been thoroughly studied.China,Children,Homes,Health(CCHH),Phase I,was a cross-sectional questionnaire survey of 48219 children 1–8 years old in 10 Chinese cities during 2010–2012.The questionnaire includes the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood(ISAAC)core health questions and additional questions regarding housing,life habits and outdoor environment.In health analyses,children aged 3–6 years old were included.The prevalences of doctor diagnosed asthma varied from 1.7%to 9.8%(mean 6.8%),a large increase from 0.91%in 1999 and 1.50%in2000.The prevalence of wheeze,rhinitis and atopic eczema(last 12 months)varied from 13.9%to 23.7%,24.0%to 50.8%and4.8%to 15.8%,respectively.Taiyuan had the lowest prevalences of all illnesses and Shanghai the highest,except for wheezewhere the highest value was for Urumqi.We found(1)no obvious association between disease prevalences and ambient PM10concentrations and(2)higher prevalences of disease in humid climates with hot summers and cold winters,but with no centrally heated buildings.Associations between the diseases and economic status as indexed by Gross Domestic Product(GDP)requires further study.ZHANG YinPing LI BaiZhan HUANG Chen YANG Xu QIAN Hua DENG QiHong ZHAO ZhuoHui LI AnGui ZHAO JiaNing ZHANG Xin QU Fang HU Yu YANG Qin WANG Juan ZHANG Ming WANG Fang ZHENG XiaoHong LU Chan LIU ZhiJian SUN YueXia MO JinHan ZHAO YiLi LIU Wei WANG TingTing NORBCK Dan BORNEHAG Carl-Gustaf SUNDELL Jan 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,34:22

5Predictors of the outcomes of acute-on-chronic hepatitis B liver failure显示文摘AIM:To identify the risk factors in predicting the outcome of acute-on-chronic hepatitis B liver failure patients.METHODS:We retrospectively divided 113 patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure-hepatitis B virus(ACLF-HBV) and without concurrent hepatitis C or D virus infection and hepatocellular carcinoma into two groups according to their outcomes after anti-HBV therapy.Their demographic,clinical,and biochemical data on the day of diagnosis and after the first week of treatment were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test,Fisher's exact test,and a multiple logistic regression analysis.RESULTS:The study included 113 patients(87 men and 26 women) with a mean age of 49.84 years.Fiftytwo patients survived,and 61 patients died.Liver failure(85.2%),sepsis(34.4%),and multiple organ failure(39.3%) were the main causes of death.Multivariate analyses showed that Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation(APACHE) Ⅱ scores ≥ 12 [odds ratio(OR) = 7.160,95% CI:2.834-18.092,P < 0.001] and positive blood culture(OR = 13.520,95% CI:2.740-66.721,P = 0.001) on the day of diagnosis and model for end-stage liver disease(MELD) scores ≥ 28(OR = 8.182,95% CI:1.884-35.527,P = 0.005) after the first week of treatment were independent predictors of mortality.CONCLUSION:APACHE Ⅱ scores on the day of diagnosis and MELD scores after the first week of anti-HBV therapy are feasible predictors of outcome in ACLFHBV patients.Hsiu-Lung Fan Po-Sheng Yang Hui-Wei Chen Teng-Wei Chen De-Chuan Chan Chi-Hong Chu Jyh-Cherng Yu Shih-Ming Kuo Chung-Bao Hsieh 2012World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,36:16
6Prevalence of clonorchiasis in patients with gastrointestinal disease: A Korean nationwide multicenter survey显示文摘AIM: To investigate prevalence of Clonorchis sinensis in patients with gastrointestinal symptoms, and the relation of the infection to hepatobiliary diseases in 26 hospitals in Korea.METHODS: Consecutive patients who had been admitted to the Division of Gastroenterology with gastrointestinal symptoms were enrolled from March to April 2005. Of those who had been diagnosed with clonorchiasis, epidemiology and correlation between infection and hepatobiliary diseases were surveyed by questionnaire.RESULTS: Of 3080 patients with gastrointestinal diseases, 396 (12.9%) had clonorchiasis and 1140 patients (37.2%) had a history of eating raw freshwater fish. Of those with a history of raw freshwater fish ingestion, 238 (20.9%) patients had clonorchiasis. Cholangiocarcinoma was more prevalent in C. sinensis-infected patients than non-infected patients [34/396 (8.6%) vs 145/2684 (5.4%), P = 0.015]. Cholangiocarcinoma and clonorchiasis showed statistically significant positive cross-relation (P = 0.008). Choledocholithiasis, cholecystolithiasis, cholangitis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and biliary pancreatitis did not correlate with clonorchiasis.CONCLUSION: Infection rate of clonorchiasis was still high in patients with gastrointestinal diseases in Korea, and has not decreased very much during the last two decades. 9Treatment outcome of localized Helicobacter pylori-negative low-grade gastric MALT lymphoma显示文摘AIM: To investigate treatment outcome of Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori )-negative low-grade gastric mucosaassociated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma.METHODS: In this study,we retrospectively reviewed the clinical outcome and clinicopathologic factors of stage Ⅰ E H.pylori -negative low-grade gastric MALT lymphoma cases from August 1998 to June 2009.RESULTS: A total of eleven patients with H.pylori -negative low-grade gastric MALT lymphoma were enrolled in the study and received anti-H.pylori eradication treatment and/or radiotherapy or excisional therapy.Complete remission (CR) of gastric MALT lymphoma was achieved in all patients.The time to CR was 1-66 mo (median,1 mo).CONCLUSION: Eradication therapy may be offered as an initial treatment option even in cases of localized H.pylori -negative gastric MALT lymphoma.Hyung Soon Park Yu Jin Kim Woo Ick Yang Chang Ok Suh Yong Chan Lee 2010World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,17:13
10Low grade gastric mucosa associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma:Treatment strategies based on 10 year follow-up显示文摘AIM:To deduce strategic guidelines of gastric mucosa associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma (MALTOMA) by evaluating the long-term outcome of patients in respect to various treatment modalities.METHODS:A total of 55 patients with MALTOMA from May 1992 to August 2002 were retrospectively reviewed.RESULTS: Complete remission was obtained in 24 (82.8%) of 29 patients treated with anti Helicobacter pylori(H pylori) regimen only. 13Ganoderma lucidum extract ameliorates MPTP-induced parkinsonism and protects dopaminergic neurons from oxidative stress via regulating mitochondrial function, autophagy, and apoptosis显示文摘Neuroprotection targeting mitochondrial dysfunction has been proposed as an important therapeutic strategy for Parkinson's disease. Ganoderma lucidum (GL) has emerged as a novel age nt that protects neurons from oxidative stress. However, the detailed mechanisms underlying GL-induced neuroprotection have not been documented. In this study, we investigated the neuroprotective effects of GL extract (GLE) and the underlying mechanisms in the classic MPTP(1 -methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6- tetrahydropyridine)-induced mouse model of PD. Mice were injected with MPTP to in duce parkins on ism. The n the mice were administered GLE (400 mg kg^-1 d^-1,ig) for 4 weeks. We observed that GLE administration significantly improved locomotor performanee and increased tyrosine hydroxylase expression in the substantia nigra pars compact (SNpc) of MPTP-treated mice. In in vitro study, treatment of neuroblastoma neuro-2a cells with 1 -methyl-4-phenyIpyridinium (MPP^+, 1 mmol/L) caused mitochondrial membrane potential collapse, radical oxygen species accumulation, and ATP depletion. Application of GLE (800 pg/mL) protected n euroblastoma neu ro-2a cells agai nst MPP in suit. Application of GLE also improved mitochondrial movement dysfunction in cultured primary mesencephalic neurons. In addition, GLE counteracted the decline in NIX (also called BNIP3L) expression and increase in the LC3-II/LC3-I ratio evoked by MPP I Moreover, GLE reactivated MPP^+-inhibited AMPK, mTOR, and ULK1. Similarly, GLE was sufficient to counteract MPP1 -induced inhibition of PINK1 and Parkin expression. GLE suppressed MPP^+-induced cytochrome C release and activation of caspase-3 and caspase-9. 14Edaphic factors determining variation of two ecotypes of Leymus chinensis in North China显示文摘To identify ecotypic variation of L. chinensis, the physiological characteristics and environmental factors were measured and assessed for grey-green and yellow-green ecotypes of L. chinensis grown in the salt-alkalized and aeolian sandy soils. Although both ecotypes presented a similar salt-alkaline tolerance under the experimental conditions, they differed in several aspects. The L. chinensis grown in the aeolian sandy soils had higher water potential and chlorophyll content and lower proline content in their leaves than those grown in the salt-alkalized habitat, and the grey-green ecotype of L. chinensis in both types of soils had higher water potential, chlorophyll and proline contents than the yellow-green ecotype. Besides, grey-green ecotypes had higher salt-alkaline tolerance than the yellow-green ecotype. The stepwise regression analysis showed that soil conductance and pH value were the main ecological factors affecting the physiology of L. chinensis. From the natural distribution of the two ecotypes, we considered that salt-alkaline in the soils is the leading factor in determining ecotypic variation of L. chinensis. 15A New Arg54Gly Transthyretin Gene Mutation Associated with Vitreous Amyloidosis in Chinese显示文摘Purpose:To analyse the hereditary features of a Chinese pedigree with familial vitreous amyloidosis in Liaoning Province,China,and to investigate the correlation between the clinical appearance of the disease and transthyretin(TTR)gene mutation,including the locus and type of TTR gene mutation.Methods:Five patients (10 eyes) from one Chinese family were diagnosed with vitreous amyloidosis between July 1996 and April 2009.Family members were followed up subsequently,and peripheral venous blood was obtained from 13 subjects (including 2 patients,and 11 controls without clinical signs of disease).DNA samples were extracted and 4 exons of the TTR gene were amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR).The gene fragments were subjected to sequencing analysis.The results were analyzed with DNAMAN Windows 5.2.2.0 and Chromas sequence chart analysis software,TTR gene exons were compared between affected patients and normal controls.Results:Family pedigree analysis revealed that patients were distributed in three generations.Male and female subjects had equal prevalence,and only one parent of affected patients had signs of disease.TTR gene exon sequencing showed that the sequence of patients was identical to that of normal individuals.No TTR gene mutations were noted in 10 unaffected family members.However,a TTR Gly-54 point mutation in the 2nd exon was detected in two patients and 1 unaffected family member (one of the patients' daughters).Vitreous samples in 4 cases (7 eyes) showed positive Congo red staining,suggesting that these family members suffered from familial vitreous amyloidosis.Conclusion:This pedigree affected with familial vitreous amyloidosis was characterized by autosomal dominant inheritance;.a TTR Gly-54 point mutation in the 2nd exon is presumed to be the cause.This Gly-54 point mutation of the TTR gene is a novel mutation in vitreous amyloidosis.Yining Shi Jing Li Jia Hu Jun Hu Lijun Sun Huijin Li Rui Shi Le Yang Ye Sun Chan Li 2011Eye Science2011,26,4:9

17Retinal vessel oxygen saturation in healthy subjects and early branch retinal vein occlusion显示文摘AIM: To measure the retinal oxygen saturation in healthy subjects and early branch retinal vein occlusion(BRVO) in Chinese population.METHODS: The retinal vessel oxygen saturation of the healthy subjects and BRVO patients were measured by a noninvasive retinal oximeter(Oxymap ehf.,Reykjavik,Iceland).RESULTS: The study included 22 patients with unilateral BRVO(mean age: 55.1±8.8y) in the study group and 91 healthy participants(mean age: 37.5±14.0y) in the control group.In the healthy individuals,mean arterial and venous oxygen saturation were significantly(P<0.001)higher in the superior nasal quadrant(98.5%±10.1%and 57.3%±8.7%,respectively) than in the inferior nasal quadrant(94.2%±9.0% and 54.1%±9.6%,respectively),followed by the superior temporal quadrant(89.1%±10.1%and 51.9%±8.9%,respectively) and the inferior temporal quadrant(86.4%±9.4% and 46.6%±9.6%,respectively).In patients with ischemic BRVO,arterial oxymetric values were significantly higher and venous measurements significantly lower for the affected vessel(107.5%±9.7% and46.4%±14.2%,respectively) than the unaffected vessel in the same eye(99.2%±12.2% and 55.5%±7.9%,respectively)and as compared to the vessel in the unaffected fellow eye(93.1%±6.9% and 55.7%±6.8%)(P=0.005 and P=0.02,respectively).In the patients with non-ischemic BRVO,mean venous oxygen saturation was lower in the affected vein(39.8%±12.2%) than in the unaffected vessels of the same eye(50.8%±10.5%) and in the fellow eye(58.21%±5.7%)(P=0.03).Mean arterial oxygen saturation did not differ significantly(P=0.42) between all three groups.CONCLUSION: In patients with BRVO,the venous oxygen saturation in the affected vessels is decreased potentially due to decreased blood velocity and flow.Interestingly,thearterial oxygen saturation in eyes with ischemic BRVO is increased in the affected arteries.Jing-Yan Yang Bing You Qian Wang Szy Yann Chan Jost B.Jonas Wen-Bin Wei 2017International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2017,10,2:8

The goal of this study was to investigate whether octacosanol would attenuate neurotoxicity in 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6 tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-treated C57BL/6N mice and its potential mechanism. Behavioral tests, tyrosine hydroxylase immunohistochemistry and western blot were used to investigate the effects of octacosanol in a mouse model of Parkinson's disease. Oral administration of octacosanol (100 mg/kg) significantly improved behavioral impairments in mice treated by MPTP and markedly ameliorated morphological appearances of tyrosine hydroxylase-positive neuronal cells in the substantia nigra. Furthermore, octacosanol blocked MPTP-induced phosphorylation of p38MAPK and JNK, but not ERK1/2. These findings implicated that the protective effects afforded by octacosanol might be mediated by blocking the phosphorylation of p38MAPK and JNK on the signal transduction in vivo. 20Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada Disease: Novel Findings and New Insights into the Pathogenesis显示文摘Objective To provide novel spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD OCT) findings of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) disease as well as new insights into the pathogenesis of this disease. Methods Detailed SD OCT and fluorescein angiography (FA) findings of 18 consecutive VKH patients (11 women and 7 men) from December 2007 to April 2009 who were in acute uveitic stage at presentation were reviewed. All the patients had been followed up for at least 6 months with reevaluation(s) of SD OCT performed in 10 patients. Results Intraretinal cysts were found to be located in various layers of the outer retina. In addition to the photoreceptor layer, they could also be found between the outer plexiform layer and the outer nuclear layer, or spanning the external limiting membrane. On FA, intraretinal cysts could be hypofluorescent, normofluorescent, or hyperfluorescent. Some intraretinal cysts had a characteristic FA pattern, in which a small round hypofluorescent area was surrounded by a ring of hyperfluorescence (donut-shaped dye pooling). Subretinal fibrinoid deposit appeared in acute uveitic stage in two severe VKH patients and seemed to develop from subretinal exudates and evolved into typical subretinal fibrosis. Gradual transfiguration/migration and progressive proliferation/pigmentation of the subretinal fibrinoid deposit/subretinal fibrosis was observed in one patient. Conclusions Intraretinal cysts could form in various layers of the outer retina and may result from extension of choroidal inflammation.
