1Tea eggs-inspired high-strength natural polymer hydrogels显示文摘Natural polymer(NP)hydrogels are an irreplaceable class of biomaterials owing to their identified biosafety;however,the intrinsic poor mechanical strengths severely limit their applications as structural tissue engineering scaffolds.Inspired by the stiffening albumen gel of tea eggs,a traditional Chinese snack,high-strength NP hydrogels are constructed by simply soaking in aqueous solution of tea polyphenols(TP),an active ingredient extracted from tea.The TP-treated representative NP hydrogels exhibit considerably enhanced multifaceted mechanical properties with maximum 19-/30-,8.4-,6.1-,72-fold increases in tensile/compressive strengths,Young’s modulus,elongation at break and facture toughness,respectively,compared with pristine hydrogels,primarily due to the hydrogen bonding interactions between TP and NP chains.The TP-treated NP hydrogels can resist different large deformations,which cannot be achieved by their original species at all.In aqueous solution,the TP-treated NP hydrogels can still maintain robust mechanical performances,in spite of somewhat decline in strengths with release of TP,which just favorably affords increased water contents,antibacterial and antioxidant activities.GelMA-TP hydrogel is shown to facilitate wound healing in a full-thickness skin defect model.Importantly,the weak 3D printed GelMA scaffolds are significantly strengthened by TP treatment,broadening the possibility for customizing individualized bioscaffolds.Tengling Wu Chunyan Cui Chuanchuan Fan Ziyang Xu Yang Liu Wenguang Liu 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,9:3

3Biomedical polymers: synthesis, properties, and applications显示文摘Biomedical polymers have been extensively developed for promising applications in a lot of biomedical fields, such as therapeutic medicine delivery, disease detection and diagnosis, biosensing, regenerative medicine, and disease treatment. In this review, we summarize the most recent advances in the synthesis and application of biomedical polymers, and discuss the comprehensive understanding of their property-function relationship for corresponding biomedical applications. In particular, a few burgeoning bioactive polymers, such as peptide/biomembrane/microorganism/cell-based biomedical polymers, are also introduced and highlighted as the emerging biomaterials for cancer precision therapy. Furthermore, the foreseeable challenges and outlook of the development of more efficient, healthier and safer biomedical polymers are discussed. 7A hyperbranched polymer-based water-resistant adhesive:Durable underwater adhesion and primer for anchoring anti-fouling hydrogel coating显示文摘Direct deployment of gluing and achieving durable robust adhesion in water is challenging due to difficulty in repelling interface water.This work reports a novel hyperbranched polymer-based water-resistant adhesive(HBPBA)based on Michael addition reaction of multi-vinyl monomers with dopamine and 3-aminophenylboronic acid.Upon encountering water,the HBPBA forms coacervates whose hydrophobic chains aggregate to displace interface water,and meanwhile the catechols exposing outwards contribute to underwater adhesion.The HBPBA can strongly glue diverse substrates including PTFE,PE,PET,ceramic,Ti and stainless steel.The HBPBA can maintain stable adhesion in different environments,such as tap water,simulated sea water,PBS,and a wide range of pH solutions(pH 2 to 10)for 3 months,supposedly due to the complexation of catechol with boronic acid.Intriguingly,HBPBA film can be bonded to the titanium surface as a primer,which firmly anchors the antifouling PNAGAPCBAA hydrogel coating through copolymerization of remaining double bonds in HBPBA and NAGA plus CBAA.The PNAGA-PCBAA hydrogel-modified titanium is biocompatible and shows outstanding antifouling ability both in vitro and in vivo.This work proposes a new strategy for creating underwater deployable and water-resistant adhesives that may find promising applications in engineering and biomedical fields.ZHANG YaHan CUI ChunYan SUN YaGe ZHANG XiaoPing YANG Rong YANG JianHai XIE Fei LIU WenGuang 2022Science China(Technological Sciences)2022,65,1:1

16抗瘤中药制剂对结直肠癌T及NK细胞免疫抑制的体外逆转作用(英文)显示文摘Objective: Reversing effects of traditional Chinese medicines on colorectal tumor immunosuppressions of natural killer (NK) cell and T lymphocyte were analyzed to provide evidence on selecting medicines for patients according to the different types of tumor immunosuppression. Methods: Six traditional Chinese medicines, including Arsenious acid (AS), Ligustra-zine hydrochloride (LHC), Astragalus mongholicus bge (AMB), Matrine N-oxide (MOX), Polyporus umbellatus polysaccharide (PUPS) and Artesunate (ART), were enrolled. The reversing effects on suppression of murine splenocyte transformation and NK killing activity were measured by 3-{4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl}-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium (MTT), and the effects on the suppressed expression of interleukin 2 receptor α (IL-2Rα), CD3ε + ζ + and CD3ε - ζ + were detected by flow cytometry (FCM). The effects on immunosuppressive molecules were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), including transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β 1), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), interleukin 4 (IL-4), IL-6, IL-10 and pros-taglandin (PG) E 2 . Results: (1) The reversing effects of AMB on the inhibition of NK killing and CD3ε + ζ + expression were the most significant; the effect of LHC on inhibition of CD3ε - ζ + expression was the strongest; the effects of AMB, PUPS and ART on inhibition of transformation were the greatest; and the effect of ART on inhibition of IL-2Rα expression was the strongest. (2) The correlated molecules of these medicines that exerted reversing effects on colorectal tumor immunosuppression were TGF-β 1 and IL-10. AMB had the highest down-regulating effect on the secretion of TGF-β 1 . AS and ART had the highest effects on IL-10. Conclusion: Reversing tumor immunosuppression through the down-regulation of immunosuppressive molecules is one of the novel antitumor mechanisms of traditional Chinese medicines. 20Wet adhesive hydrogel cardiac patch loaded with anti-oxidative,autophagy-regulating molecule capsules and MSCs for restoring infarcted myocardium显示文摘Hydrogel patch-based stem cell transplantation and microenvironment-regulating drug delivery strategy is promising for the treatment of myocardial infarction(MI).However,the low retention of cells and drugs limits their therapeutic efficacies.Here,we propose a prefixed sponge carpet strategy,that is,aldehyde-dextran sponge(ODS)loading anti-oxidative/autophagy-regulating molecular capsules of 2-hydroxy-β-cyclodextrin@resveratrol(HP-β-CD@Res)is first bonded to the rat’s heart via capillary removal of interfacial water from the tissue surface,and the subsequent Schiff base reaction between the aldehyde groups on ODS and amino groups on myocardium tissue.Then,an aqueous biocompatible hydrazided hyaluronic acid(HHA)solution encapsulating mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)is impregnated into the anchored carpet to form HHA@ODS@HP-β-CD@Res hydrogel in situ via click reaction,thus prolonging the in vivo retention time of therapeutic drug and cells.Importantly,the HHA added to outer surface consumes the remaining aldehydes to contribute to nonsticky top surface,avoiding adhesion to other tissues.The embedded HP-β-CD@Res molecular capsules with antioxidant and autophagy regulation bioactivities can considerably improve cardiac microenvironment,reduce cardiomyocyte apoptosis,and enhance the survival of transplanted MSCs,thereby promoting cardiac repair by facilitating angiogenesis and reducing cardiac fibrosis.Tengling Wu Xiaoping Zhang Yang Liu Chunyan Cui Yage Sun Wenguang Liu 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,3:0
