3The first all-season sample set for mapping global land cover with Landsat-8 data显示文摘We report the world's first all-season training and validation sample sets for global land cover classification with Landsat-8 data.Prior to this,such samples were only available at a single date primarily from the growing season.It is unknown how much limitation such a single-date sample has to mapping global land cover in other seasons of the year.To answer this question,we selected available Landsat-8 images from four seasons and collected training and validation samples from them.We compared the performances of training samples in different seasons using Random Forest algorithm.We found that the use of training samples from any individual season would result in the best overall classification accuracy when validated by samples in the same season.The global overall accuracy from combined best seasonal results was 67.2% when classifying the 11 Level-1 classes in the Finer Resolution Observation and Monitoring of Global Land Cover(FROM-GLC) classification system.The use of training samples from all seasons(named all-season training sample set hereafter) produced an overall accuracy of 67.0%.We also tested classification within 10° latitude 60° longitude zones using all-season training subsample within each zone and obtained an overall accuracy of 70.2%.This indicates that properly grouped subsamples in space can help improve classification accuracies.All the results in this study seem to suggest that it is possible to use an all-season training sample set to reach global optimality with universal applicability in classifying images acquired at any time of a year for global land cover mapping.Congcong Li Peng Gong Jie Wang Zhiliang Zhu Gregory S. 7Fusobacterium 's link to colorectal neoplasia sequenced: A systematic review and future insights显示文摘AIM To critically evaluate previous scientific evidence on Fusobacterium's role in colorectal neoplasia development.METHODS Two independent investigators systematically reviewed all original scientific articles published between January,2000,and July,2017,using Pub Med,EMBASE,and MEDLINE. A total of 355 articles were screened at the abstract level. Of these,only original scientific human,animal,and in vitro studies investigating Fusobacterium and its relationship with colorectal cancer(CRC) were included in the analysis. Abstracts,review articles,studies investigating other colonic diseases,and studies written in other languages than English were excluded from our analysis. Ninety articles were included after removing duplicates,resolving disagreements between the two reviewers,and applying the above criteria.RESULTS Studies have consistently identified positive associations between Fusobacterium,especially Fusobacterium nucleatum(F. nucleatum),and CRC. Stronger associations were seen in CRCs proximal to the splenic flexure and Cp G island methylator phenotype(CIMP)-high CRCs. There was evidence of temporality and a biological gradient,with increased F. nucleatum DNA detection and quantity along the traditional adenoma-carcinoma sequence and in CIMP-high CRC precursors. Diet may have a differential impact on colonic F. nucleatum enrichment;evidence suggests that high fiber diet may reduce the risk of a subset of CRCs that are F. nucleatum DNA-positive. Data also suggest shorter CRC and disease-specific survival with increased amount of F. nucleatum DNA in CRC tissue. The pathophysiology of enrichment of F. nucleatum and other Fusobacterium species in colonic tissue is unclear;however,the virulence factors and changes to the local colonic environment with disruption of the protective mucus layer may contribute. The presence of a host lectin(Gal-Gal NAc) in the colonic epithelium may also mediate F. nucleatum attachment to CRC and precursors through interaction with an F. nucleatum protein,fibroblast activation protein 2(FAP2). The clinical significance of detection or enrichment of Fusobacterium in colorectal neoplasia is ambiguous,but data suggest a procarcinogenic effect of F. nucleatum,likely due to activation of oncogenic and inflammatory pathways and modulation of the tumor immune environment. This is hypothesized to be mediated by certain F. nucleatum strains carrying invasive properties and virulence factors such as Fad A and FAP.CONCLUSION Evidence suggests a potential active role of Fusobacterium,specifically F. nucleatum,in CRC. 8Projected impacts of climate change on protected birds and nature reserves in China显示文摘Knowledge about climate change impacts on species distribution at national scale is critical to biodiversity conservation and design of management programs.Although China is a biodiversity hot spot in the world,potential influence of climate change on Chinese protected birds is rarely studied. Here, we assess the impact of climate change on 108 protected bird species and nature reserves using species distribution modeling at a relatively fine spatial resolution(1 km) for the first time. We found that a large proportion of protected species would have potential suitable habitat shrink and northward range shift by 77–90 km in response to projected future climate change in 2080. Southeastern China would suffer from losing climate suitability, whereas the climate conditions in Qinghai–Tibet Plateau and northeastern China were projected to become suitable for more protected species. Onaverage, each protected area in China would experience a decline of suitable climate for 3–4 species by 2080. Climate change will modify which species each protected area will be suitable for. Our results showed that the risk of extinction for Chinese protected birds would be high, even in the moderate climate change scenario. 9基于星载激光雷达和雷达高度计数据的南极冰盖表面高程制图显示文摘南极数字高程模型DEMs(Digital Elevation Models)是研究极区大气环流模式,南极冰盖动态变化和南极科学考察非常重要的基础数据。目前,科学家已经发布了五种不同的南极数字表面高程模型。这些数据都是由卫星雷达高度计,激光雷达和部分地面实测数据等制作而成。尽管如此,由于海洋与冰盖交接的南极冰盖边缘区随时间的快速变化,有必要根据新的卫星数据及时更新南极冰盖表面高程数据。因此,我们利用雷达高度计数据(Envisat RA-2)和激光雷达数据(ICESat/GLAS)制作了最新的南极冰盖高程数据。为提高ICESat/GLAS数据的精度,本文采用了五种不同的质量控制指标对GLAS数据进行处理,滤除了8.36%的不合格数据。这五种质量控制指标分别针对卫星定位误差、大气前向散射、饱和度及云的影响。同时,对Envisat RA-2数据进行干湿对流层纠正、电离层纠正、固体潮汐纠正和极潮纠正。针对两种不同的测高数据,提出了一种基于Envisat RA-2和GLAS数据光斑脚印几何相交的高程相对纠正方法,即通过分析GLAS脚印点与Envisat RA-2数据中心点重叠的点对,建立这些相交点对的高度差(GLAS-RA-2)与表征地形起伏的粗糙度之间的相关关系,对具有稳定相关关系的点对进行Envisat RA-2数据的相对纠正。通过分析南极冰盖不同区域的测高点密度,确定最终DEM的分辨率为1000 m。考虑到南极普里兹湾和内陆地区的差异性,将南极冰盖分为16个区,利用半方差分析确定最佳插值模型和参数,采用克吕金插值方法生成了1000 m分辨率的南极冰盖高程数据。利用两种机载激光雷达数据和我国多次南极科考实测的GPS数据对新的南极DEM进行了验证。结果显示,新的DEM与实测数据的差值范围为3.21—27.84 m,其误差分布与坡度密切关系。与国际上发布的南极DEM数据相比,新的DEM在坡度较大地区和快速变化的冰盖边缘地区精度有较大改进。黄华兵 程晓 宫鹏 CLINTON Nick 2014遥感学报2014,18,1:6

15Adsorption of pharmaceuticals from aqueous solutions using biochar derived from cotton gin waste and guayule bagasse显示文摘Biochars produced from cotton gin waste(CG)and guayule bagasse(GB)were characterized and explored as potential adsorbents for the removal of pharmaceuticals(sulfapyridine-SPY,docusate-DCT and erythromycin-ETM)from aqueous solution.An increase in biochar pyrolysis temperature from 350οC to 700℃ led to an increase in pH,specific surface area,and surface hydrophobicity.The electronegative surface of all tested biochars indicated that non-Coulombic mechanisms were involved in adsorption of the anionic or uncharged pharmaceuticals under experimental conditions.The adsorption capacities of Sulfapyridine(SPY),Docusate(DCT)and Erythromycin(ETM)on biochar were influenced by the contact time and solution pH,as well as biochar specific surface area and functional groups.Adsorption of these pharmaceutical compounds was dominated by a complex interplay of three mechanisms:hydrophobic partitioning,hydrogen bonding andπ-πelectron donor-acceptor(EDA)interactions.Despite weakerπ-πEDA interactions,reduced hydrophobicity of SPY−and increased electrostatic repulsion between anionic SPY−and the electronegative CG biochar surface at higher pH,the adsorption of SPY unexpectedly increased from 40% to 70% with an increase in pH from 7 to 10.Under alkaline conditions,adsorption was dominated by the formation of strong negative charge-assisted H-bonding between the sulfonamide moiety of SPY and surface carboxylic groups.There seemed to be no appreciable and consistent differences in the extent of DCT and ETM adsorption as the pH changed.Results suggest the CG and GB biochars could act as effective adsorbents for the removal of pharmaceuticals from reclaimed water prior to irrigation.High surface area biochars with physico-chemical properties(e.g.,presence of functional groups,high cation and anion exchange capacities)conducive to strong interactions with polar-nonpolar functionality of pharmaceuticals could be used to achieve significant contaminant removal from water.Marlene C.Ndoun Herschel AElliott Heather EPreisendanz Clinton FWilliams Allan Knopf John EWatson 2021Biochar2021,3,1:3
16FROM-GC: 30 m global cropland extent derived through multisource data integration显示文摘We report on a global cropland extent product at 30-m spatial resolution developed with two 30-m global land cover maps(i.e.FROM-GLC,Finer Resolution Observation and Monitoring,Global Land Cover;FROM-GLC=agg)and a 250-m cropland probability map.A common land cover validation sample database was used to determine optimal thresholds of cropland probability in different parts of the world to generate a cropland/noncropland mask according to the classification accuracies for cropland samples.A decision tree was then applied to combine two 250-m cropland masks:one existing mask from the literature and the other produced in this study,with the 30-m global land cover map FROM-GLC-agg.For the smallest difference with country-level cropland area in Food and Agriculture Organization Corporate Statistical(FAOSTAT)database,a final global cropland extent map was composited from the FROM-GLC,FROM-GLC-agg,and two masked crop=land layers.From this map FROM-GC(Global Cropland),we estimated the global cropland areas to be 1533.83 million hectares(Mha)in 2010,which is 6.95 Mha(0.45%)less than the area reported by the Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO)of the United Nations for the year 2010.A country-by=country comparison between the map and the FAOSTAT data showed a linear relationship(FROM-GC=1.05*FAOSTAT-1.2(Mha)with R^(2)=0.97).Africa,South America,Southeastern Asia,and Oceania are the regions with large discrepancies with the FAO survey.Le Yu Jie Wang Nicholas Clinton Qinchuan Xin Liheng Zhong Yanlei Chen Peng Gong 2013International Journal of Digital Earth2013,6,6:3

18POLY (β-HYDROXYALKANOATES): NATURAL BIOCOMPATIBLE AND BIODEGRADABLE POLYESTERS PRODUCED BY BACTERIA显示文摘A wide variety of different types of microorganisms are known to produce intracellular energy and carbon storage products, which have been generally described as being poly (β-hydroxybutyrate), PHB, but which are, more often than not, copolymers containing different alkyl groups at the β-position. Hence, PHB belongs to the family ofpoly (β-hydroxyalkanoastes), PHA, all of which are usually formed as intracellular inclusions in bacteria under unbalanced growth conditions. Recently, it became of industrial interest to evaluate these PHA polyesters as natural biodegradable and biocompatible plastics for a wide range of possible applications, such as surgical sutures or packaging containers. For industrial applications, the controlled incorporation of repeating units with different chain lengths into a series of copolymers is desirable in order to produce polyesters with a range of material properties because physical and chemical characteristics depend strongly on the polymer composition. Such 'tailor-made' copolymers can be produced under controlled growth conditions in that, if a defined mixture of substrates for a certain type of microorganisms is supplied, a well defined and reproducible copolymer is formed.ROBERT W.
