| 1 | Phase 1 human trial of autologous bone marrow-hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in patients with decompensated cirrhosis显示文摘AIM: To evaluate safety and feasibility of autologous bone marrow-enriched CD34+ hematopoietic stem cell Tx through the hepatic artery in patients with decompensated cirrhosis.METHODS: Four patients with decompensated cirrhosis were included. Approximately 200 mL of the bone marrow of the patients was aspirated, and CD34+ stem cells were selected. Between 3 to 10 million CD34+ cells were isolated. The cells were slowly infused through the hepatic artery of the patients.RESULTS: Patient 1 showed marginal improvement in serum albumin and no significant changes in other test results. In patient 2 prothrombin time was decreased; however, her total bilirubin, serum creatinine, and Model of End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) score worsened at the end of follow up. In patient 3 there was improvement in serum albumin, porthrombin time (PT), and MELD score. Patient 4 developed radiocontrast nephropathy after the procedure, and progressed to type 1 hepatorenal syndrome and died of liver failure a few days later. Because of the major side effects seen in the last patient, the trial was prematurely stopped.CONCLUSION: Infusion of CD34+ stem cells through the hepatic artery is not safe in decompensated cirrhosis. Radiocontrast nephropathy and hepatorenal syndrome could be major side effects. | 2 | Hepatitis B and C virus-induced hepatitis: Apoptosis, autophagy, and unfolded protein response显示文摘AIM: To investigate the co-incidence of apoptosis, autophagy, and unfolded protein response(UPR) in hepatitis B(HBV) and C(HCV) infected hepatocytes.METHODS: We performed immunofluorescence confocal microscopy on 10 liver biopsies from HBV and HCV patients and tissue microarrays of HBV positive liver samples. We used specific antibodies for LC3β, cleaved caspase-3, BIP(GRP78), and XBP1 to detect autophagy, apoptosis and UPR, respectively. AntiHCV NS3 and anti-HBs antibodies were also used to confirm infection. We performed triple blind counting of events to determine the co-incidence of autophagy(LC3β punctuate), apoptosis(cleaved caspase-3), and unfolded protein response(GRP78) with HBV and HCV infection in hepatocytes. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS software for Windows(Version 16 SPSS Inc, Chicago, IL, United States). P-values < 0.05 were considered statistically significant. Statistical analyses were performed with Mann-Whitney test to compare incidence rates for autophagy, apoptosis, and UPR in HBV- and HCV-infected cells and adjacent noninfected cells.RESULTS: Our results showed that infection of hepatocytes with either HBV and HCV induces significant increase(P < 0.001) in apoptosis(cleavage of caspase-3), autophagy(LC3β punctate), and UPR(increase in GRP78 expression) in the HCV- and HBVinfected cells, as compared to non-infected cells of the same biopsy sections. Our tissue microarray immunohistochemical expression analysis of LC3β in HBV^(Neg) and HBV^(Pos) revealed that majority of HBVinfected hepatocytes display strong positive stainingfor LC3β. Interestingly, although XBP splicing in HBVinfected cells was significantly higher(P < 0.05), our analyses show a slight increase of XBP splicing was in HCV-infected cells(P > 0.05). Furthermore, our evaluation of patients with HBV and HCV infection based on stage and grade of the liver diseases revealed no correlation between these pathological findings and induction of apoptosis, autophagy, and UPR.CONCLUSION: The results of this study indicate that HCV and HBV infection activates apoptosis, autophagy and UPR, but slightly differently by each virus. | 3 | Laying hen performance,egg quality improved and yolk 5-methyltetrahydrofolate content increased by dietary supplementation of folic acid显示文摘This study was performed to evaluate the effect of folic acid(FA) on performance, egg quality and yolk5-methyltetrahydrofolate(5-MTHF) content. A total of 384 Hy-line W36 strain hens from 52 to 58 weeks of age were randomly assigned to 4 groups, and each group received one of following dietary treatments:0, 5.10 and 15 mg FA/kg diet. A completely randomized design was used. Egg production percentage, egg mass and egg weight were increased significantly(P < 0.05) and feed conversion ratio(FCR) was reduced significantly(P < 0.05) by increasing FA content in diets. No significant differences were detected among treatments on egg quality except for shell thickness. The dietary supplementations of laying hens diets with FA significantly increased yolk 5-MTHF content(P = 0.02). | 6 | Effects of intermediate Ni layer on mechanical properties of Al–Cu layered composites fabricated through cold roll bonding显示文摘Layered composites have attracted considerable interest in the recent literature on metal composites. Their mechanical properties depend on the quality of the bonding provided by the intermediate layers. In this study, we analyzed the mechanical properties and bond strengths provided by the nickel layer with respect to its thickness and nature(either powder or coating). The results suggest that bond strength decreases with an increase in the content of nickel powder. At 0.3 vol% of nickel coating, we found the nature of nickel to be less efficient in terms of bond strength. A different picture arose when the content of nickel was increased and the bond strength increased in nickel coated samples. | 8 | Magnetic metal organic framework for pre-concentration of ampicillin from cow milk samples显示文摘The aim of this study is a present of a simple solvothermal synthesis approach to preparation of Cu-based magnetic metal organic framework(MMOF)and subsequently its application as sorbent for ultrasound assisted magnetic solid phase extraction(UAMSPE)of ampicillin(AMP)from cow milk samples prior to high performance liquid chromatography-Ultraviolet(HPLC-UV)determination.Characteristics of prepared MMOF were fully investigated by different techniques which showed the exclusive properties of proposed sorbent in terms of proper functionality,desirable magnetic property and also high specific surface area.Different influential factors on extraction recovery including sorbent dosage,ultrasonic time,washing solvent volume and eluent solvent volume were assessed using central composite design(CCD)based response surface methodology(RSM)as an operative and powerful optimization tool.This is the first report for determination of AMP using MMOF.The proposed method addressed some drawbacks of other methods and sorbents for determination of AMP.The presented method decreases the extraction time(4 min)and also enhances adsorption capacity(250 mg/g).Moreover,the magnetic property of presented sorbent(15 emu/g)accelerates the extraction process which does not need filtration,centrifuge and precipitation procedures.Under the optimized conditions,the proposed method is applicable for linear range of 1.0-5000.0 μg/L with detection limit of 0.29 μg/L,satisfactory recoveries(≥95.0%)and acceptable repeatability(RSD less than 4.0%).The present study indicates highly promising perspectives of MMOF for highly effective analysis of AMP in complicated matrices. | Ahmad Reza Bagheri Mehrorang Ghaedi | 2020 | Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2020,10,4: | 5 |

| 13 | Digital Soil Mapping Using Artificial Neural Networks and Terrain-Related Attributes显示文摘Detailed soil surveys involve costly and time-consuming work and require expert knowledge. Since soil surveys provide information to meet a wide range of needs, new methods are necessary to map soils quickly and accurately. In this study, multilayer perceptron artificial neural networks(ANNs) were developed to map soil units using digital elevation model(DEM) attributes. Several optimal ANNs were produced based on a number of input data and hidden units. The approach used test and validation areas to calculate the accuracy of interpolated and extrapolated data. The results showed that the system and level of soil classification employed had a direct effect on the accuracy of the results. At the lowest level, smaller errors were observed with the World Reference Base(WRB)classification criteria than the Soil Taxonomy(ST) system, but more soil classes could be predicted when using ST(7 soils in the case of ST vs. 5 with WRB). Training errors were below 11% for all the ANN models applied, while the test error(interpolation error) and validation error(extrapolation error) were as high as 50% and 70%, respectively. As expected, soil prediction using a higher level of classification presented a better overall level of accuracy. | 17 | Development of AZ91/SiC surface composite by FSP:effect of vibration and process parameters on microstructure and mechanical characteristics显示文摘A surface composite layer enhances the mechanical characteristics of a surface while retaining the properties of the base material.Friction stir processing(FSP)is a method for forming surface metal matrix composites(SMMCs)that reinforce a surface with particles.In the current study,a new method entitled friction stir vibration processing(FSVP)was applied to form SMMCs on the surface of AZ91 magnesium alloy with SiC particles as the reinforcing particles.Contrary to FSP,in FSVP,the workpiece was vibrated normal to the processing line while the tool rotated and traversed.The microstructure and mechanical properties of friction stir(FS)and friction stir vibration(FSV)processed specimens were evaluated.Additionally,the effects of vibration frequency and process parameters on different characteristics of FS and FSV processed specimens were studied.The results showed that the stir zone grains for FSV processed specimens were finer than those for FS processed specimens,and the second phase particles(SiC particles)had a more homogenous distribution in the former specimens than in the latter specimens.This was related to the effect of workpiece vibration during FSVP,which increased the material deformation and led to enhanced dynamic recrystallization and the breakdown of agglomerated SiC particles.The results indicated that the stir zone grain size decreased,and the distribution homogeneity of the SiC particles increased as vibration frequency increased.It was also observed that the stir zone grain size increased,and the mechanical properties of the processed specimens decreased as tool rotation speed increased. | Behrouz Bagheri Mahmoud Abbasi | 2020 | Advances in Manufacturing2020,8,1: | 3 |

| 19 | Textural, color and sensory attributes of peanut kernels as affected by infrared roasting method显示文摘Roasting is one of the widespread methods for processing of nuts that significantly enhances the flavor,color,texture and appearance of products.In this research,the response surface methodology was used to optimize the roasting process over a range of infrared power(250–450 W)and roasting times(10–30 min).The moisture content,color parameters(L*,a*,b*and total color difference(DE)),textural characteristics(hardness and compressive energy),energy consumption and sensory evaluation(total acceptation)were determined after roasting and modeled by response surface methodology(RSM).Increasing in roasting IR power and time caused increasing in the energy consumption,a*,b*and DE values.The L*value,moisture content,hardness and compressive energy also decreased with increasing roasting IR power and time.The full quadratic model developed by RSM adequately described the changes in the b*value,moisture content and hardness.The result of RSM analysis showed that all color and textural parameters could be used to monitor the roasting of peanut kernels in an infrared roaster,while application of RSM for developing a predictive model that described the total acceptance changes during roasting of peanut kernels was not successful.To obtain the desired color,moisture,texture and acceptation,the optimum roasting range for production of snack was determined as 370W for 20 min. | Hadi Bagheri Mahdi Kashaninejad Aman Mohammad Ziaiifar Mehran Aalami | 2019 | Information Processing in Agriculture2019,6,2: | 2 |
