| 1 | Reproduction Diversity of Enteromorpha prolifera显示文摘Enteromorpha prolifera(Muell.) J.Agardh(Chlorophyta,Ulvophyceae),which is distributed widely in the inter-tidal zone of the ocean,is one of the most common fouling green algae.However,the present understandings of the life history of E.prolifera have been insufficient to explain their seasonal abundances.Thus it is essential to investigate how many reproductive strategies are likely to contribute to the successful colonization and flourishing of the green alga.In the present study the reproduction diversity of E.prolifera was observed and studied systematically by culturing chopped tissues.Our results showed that there are in total seven pathways of reproduction for E.prolifera including sexual,asexual and vegetative reproduction.It was indicated that the variety of the reproductive ways and the large quantity of reproductive cells produced and released during the reproductive season are the two key factors that facilitate colonization of E.prolifera.The reproduction of the alga E.prolifera mainly depends on asexual methods.The results presented here contribute to increasing our understanding about how the opportunistic macroalgae successfully maintain colonization and excessive growth. | Apeng Lin Songdong Shen Jianwei Wang Binlun Yan | 2008 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2008,50,5: | 46 |
| 2 | Zircon U-Pb geochronological framework of Qitianling granite batholith, middle part of Nanling Range, South China显示文摘The Qitianling granite batholith (QGB) is located in the southern Hunan Province, middle part of the Nanling Range, South China. Its total exposure area is about 520 km2. Based on our 25 single grain zircon U-Pb age data and 7 published data as well as the geological, petrological, and space distribution characteristics, we conclude that QGB is an Early Yanshanian (Jurassic) multi-staged composite pluton. Its formation process can be subdivided into three major stages. The first stage, emplaced at 163―160 Ma with a peak at about 161 Ma, is mainly composed of hornblende-biotite monzonitic granites and locally biotite granites, and distributed in the eastern, northern, and western peripheral parts of the pluton. The second stage, emplaced at 157―153 Ma with a peak at 157―156 Ma, is mainly composed of biotite granites and locally containing hornblende, and distributed in the middle and southeastern parts of the pluton. The third stage, emplaced at 150―146 Ma with a peak at about 149 Ma, is mainly composed of fine-grained (locally porphyritic) biotite granites, and distributed in the middle-southern part of the pluton. Each stage can be further disintegrated into several granite bodies. The first two intrusive stages comprise the major phase of QGB, and the third intrusive stage comprises the additional phase. Many second stage fine-grained granite bosses and dykes intruded into the first stage host granites with clear chilling margin-baking phenomena at their intrusive contacts. They were emplaced in the open fracture space of the earlier stage consolidated rocks. Their isotopic ages are mostly 2―6 Ma younger than their hosts. Conceivably, the time interval from magma emplacement, through cooling, crystallization, solidification, up to fracturing of the earlier stage granites cannot exceed 2―6 Ma. During the Middle-Late Jurassic in the Qitianling area and neighboring Nanling Range, the coeval granitic and basic-intermediate magmatic activities were widely developed. It indicates that the Early Yanshanian period was the culmination time of magmatic activities in this region. The Nanling Range was under a post-orogenic, intracontinental geotectonic environment with an obvious lithospheric extension and thinning. | 3 | Comparison of Chlorophyll and Photosynthesis Parameters of Floating and Attached Ulva prolifera显示文摘In mid-May 2008 a serious green tide caused mainly by floating Ulva prolifera(Mller) J.Agardh(Chlorophyta,Ulvales) thalli struck the coastal area of Qingdao,China.To understand the present physiological conditions of the floating alga,in this work both laboratory and field investigations were conducted on the floating U.prolifera thalli in comparison with the attached U.prolifera thalli collected from the area.The floating thalli of three distinctively different colors and attached thalli at three different stages of sporangium formation process were characterized under a microscope,while their photosynthetic parameters were determined with chlorophyll fluorescence technology.On the other hand,the sporangium formation status of the floating U.prolifera thalli was surveyed both in the laboratory and in the field.Comparisons showed that both of the paired morphological characteristics and the paired physiological parameters of the floating and attached U.prolifera thalli were consistent.Furthermore,some spores were confirmed in the field and some motile particles were found within the floating thalli.These results suggest that the floating U.prolifera thalli with different colors could be at different stages of sporangium formation.However,our results also showed that the floating alga thalli have only a limited reproductive potential.This might limit the duration and the further geographic expansion of the green algal bloom. | Apeng Lin Songdong Shen Guangce Wang Qianqian Yi Hongjin Qiao Jianfeng Niu Guanghua Pan | 2011 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2011,53,1: | 20 |
| 4 | Study on the photosynthetic performances of Enteromorpha prolifera collected from the surface and bottom of the sea of Qingdao sea area显示文摘In this work, the photosynthetic performances of Enteromorpha prolifera thalli collected from the sur- face and bottom of the sea of Qingdao sea area were studied with chlorophyll fluorescence and oxy- graph technology. The samples with the highest photosynthetic activity among their kinds, the floating thalli from the sea surface of the south of the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center and the sedimentary thalli from the mud surface of the bottom Tuandao bay, were chosen as representatives of surface thalli and bottom thalli, respectively. The results showed that the maximal PSII quantum yield of the floating thalli was significantly lower than the normal level although their photosynthetic activities were relatively high; the photosynthetic potential of the thalli form the mud surface was extremely low. Thus, it is indicated that the floating thalli are seriously stressed by their environment and the thalli from the mud surface are already dead or are dying. On the other hand, the results of the laboratory cultivation showed that the sedimentary thalli cannot regain normal photosynthetic activity even under normal illumination condi- tions. Thus, the thalli from the mud surface cannot become reproductive source of the alga even if they can reach sea surface again. | 5 | Primary Sn-rich titianite in the Qitianling granite, Hunan Province, southern China: An important type of tin-bearing mineral and its implications for tin exploration显示文摘The Qitianling calc-alkaline granite in Hunan Province (South China) has attracted much attention since the discovery of the Furong super-large tin deposit. The present study provides new mineralogical data to address their implications for exploration of tin deposits. In the Taoxiwo granite in the southeastern part of the Qitianling granite body, Sn-rich titanite was identified as an important type of Sn-bearing mineral. The titanite commonly occurs with biotite as euhedral crystals, exhibiting typical envelope-like shape and sector-zoning texture. These indicate that the titanite most likely crystallized in the mag-matic stage. Electron-microprobe analyses show that the titanite is enriched in tin up to 1.12 wt% SnO2, with an average of 0.43 wt%. With the crystallization of the granite, primary minerals undertook hydro-thermal alteration by magma-derived fluids. Subsequently, in the hydrothermal stage, the primary Sn-bearing titanite was altered (at least partially), but still preserved its typical envelope-shaped outline. Micro-scale cassiterite is a representative product of such alteration; other secondary minerals include fluorite, ilmenite, Sn-bearing rutile and quartz. Therefore, the titanite, commonly present in the calc- alkaline granites, can be treated as an important Sn-carrying mineral in the Qitianling granite, reflecting the primary magmatic environment with tin enrichment. The hydrothermal alteration of the primary titanite and subsequent crystallization of cassiterite recorded a process of leaching and accumulation of tin in magmatic-hydrothermal evolution of the Snbearing granite. | 6 | Advances in eucalypt research in China显示文摘Eucalypt plantations in China currently exceed4.5 Mhm^2, and this country has the third largest area of such plantations after India and Brazil. China's eucalypt industry now comprises a complex, multifaceted industry including seedling propagation, fertilizer production and supply, plantation silviculture, harvesting and transport,wood processing for products including lumber, pulp and paper, and wood-based panels, as well as bioenergy production and various forest byproducts and non-wood forest products. In 2015, the combined value of output of this whole industry was around 300 billion CNY. Chinese research and development(R&D) has been instrumental in supporting growth and development across the whole breadth of the country's eucalypt industry. In this report,recent advances in this R&D are reviewed under six key topics:(1) advanced propagation technology;(2) genetic resources and breeding;(3) targeted silviculture;(4) eucalypt disease and pest management;(5) enhancing plantation ecology and sustainability; and(6) wood processing and byproduct technology. R&D has greatly facilitated expansion and proliferation of all parts of China's eucalypt industry. First, the analytical model of the internal unit cell is established based on its topological structure. Then, according to the intrinsic relation of different cells, the axial moduli of internal, surface and corner cells are systematically deduced, and the influence of corner-cell periodic discontinuity on the moduli is also analyzed. Finally, considering the actual shape of axial yarns after consolidation, the longitudinal moduli of the different cells are modified based on energy theory. The technology factor λ is also proposed in this modification. The results show that the axial mechanical properties of this material can be strongly designable. The straightness of the axial yarns greatly affects the longitudinal modulus. | 13 | Effects of enrichmemt planting with native tree species on bacterial community structure and potential impact on Eucalyptus plantations in southern China显示文摘Multi-generational planting of Eucalyptus species degrades soil quality but the introduction of legumes can improve soil fertility and microbial diversity.However,the effects of introducing non-legume native tree species on soil nutrients and bacterial community structure remain poorly understood.This study investigated the impacts of the conversion of third generation monoculture Eucalyptus plantations to mixed systems including Eucalyptus urograndis with Cinnamomum camphora(EC)and E.urograndis with Castanopsis hystrix(EH),on soil chemical and biochemical properties and bacterial community structure,diversity and functions.First generation E.urophylla plantations were the control.Results show that planting the third generation Eucalyptus led to a significant decrease in p H,organic matter,nutrient content,enzyme activities(invertin,acid phosphataes,and urease),and bacterialα-diversity compare to the controls.However,the mixed planting showed significant improvement in soil chemical and biochemical attributes and bacterialα-diversity,although the E.urograndis and C.hystrix planting had no improvement.Chloroflexi(oligotrophic bacteria)were significantly enriched in third generation Eucalyptus and Eucalyptus+C.hystrix,while proteobacteria increased significantly in the E.urograndis with C.camphora plantings.The relative abundance of multiple metabolic pathways increased significantly in the third generation Eucalyptus plantations whereas membrane transportrelated genes were enriched in soils of the mixed systems.The changes in bacterial community structures in the two mixed systems were driven by diversity,organic matter and acid phosphatase,while bacterial functions were affected by invertase,NO_(3)^(-)-N,diversity and urease.These results suggest that the transformation of successive monoculture Eucalyptus plantations into mixed plantations reduces the depletion of soil nutrients and enhances the ecological function of soil microorganisms. | Yuxing Xu Chao Li Wankuan Zhu Zhichao Wang Lichao Wu Apeng Du | 2022 | Journal of Forestry Research2022,33,4: | 0 |
