1Molnupiravir for Oral Treatment of Covid-19 in Nonhospitalized Patients显示文摘Background:New treatments are needed to reduce the risk of progression of coronavirus disease 2019(Covid-19).Molnupiravir is an oral,small-molecule antiviral prodrug that is active against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2).Methods:We conducted a phase 3,double-blind,randomized,placebo-controlled trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of treatment with molnupiravir started within 5 days after the onset of signs or symptoms in nonhospitalized,unvaccinated adults with mild-to-moderate,laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 and at least one risk factor for severe Covid-19 illness.Participants in the trial were randomly assigned to receive 800 mg of molnupiravir or placebo twice daily for 5 days.The primary efficacy end point was the incidence hospitalization or death at day 29;the incidence of adverse events was the primary safety end point.A planned interim analysis was performed when 50%of 1550 participants(target enrollment)had been followed through day 29.Angélica Jayk Bernal 2021四川生理科学杂志2021,43,10:0

14A Numerical Study Comparing the Effect on Residual Stresses of Two Different Types of Projectiles During Shot Peening显示文摘Shot peening is a widely used technique to improve fatigue life in metallic alloys.This processing technique introduces a subsurface compressive residual stress field through a plastic deformation of the surface caused by the impact of a large number of high-speed projectiles.There are a number of parameters that affect the residual stress field depth and magnitude.The effects of the impact angle,shot speed and shot geometry are currently being researched.In particular,substituting spherical cast shots by cylindrical cut wire shots is an attractive option,especially in terms of cost.The effect of shot geometry on residual stresses,however,needs to be further investigated.Because industrial-scale experimentation is costly and cumbersome,mathematical modeling offers a convenient alternative to carry out this type of research.The present work shows a comparison between the residual stresses generated by the impact of spherical and cylindrical projectiles on a steel substrate.This threedimensional model was developed using ABAQUS finite element commercial software(Release 6.12,Dassault Systémes,France).The results show that cylindrical shots generate residual stress fields t hat a re higher in magnitude than t hose generated by a spherical shot.However,the residual stress field of cylindrical shots impacting the surface at an oblique angle shows an important degree of asymmetry.This effect is not found when spherical shots impact the surface at the same oblique angle.J.Solórzano-López F.A.García-Pastor Angélica Flores-Luna 2016Computers, Materials & Continua2016,,3:0
15Receiver tube heat transfer analysis of a CCP collector designed based on branched fractals geometry显示文摘For the development of systems related to renewable energy and specifically for thermo-solar energy,it is essential to study and analyze the different thermal phenomena of heat transfer,in search of the best conditions that allow strengthening the designs.Phenomena such as radiation,convection,and conduction are highly studied,from the field of materials to the field of infrastructure,finding day to day optimal solutions that guarantee a great use of the solar resource available on the earth's surface.This study presented the results of heat transfer analysis on a receiver pipe in a CCP;designed using the theory of branched fractal geometry to improve the heat transfer associated with concentrating solar capture systems.A fractal structure as a branch or arboreal fractal type network,influenced thermal and electrical parameters,as electrical resistance,thermal resistance,and convective heat transfer,so increasing the level branch heat transfer can be enhancement along of the pipe.The use of renewable energies in agriculture benefits the industrial processes that require a continuous power system,due to climatic conditions and geographical location is not a guarantee in food production fields,which reason solar capture systems contribute to food dehydration processes,water heating,refrigeration,and energy production.Angélica Palacios Darío Amaya Olga Ramos 2020International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2020,13,5:0
16Effects of estrogen receptor modulators on cytoskeletal proteins in the central nervous system显示文摘Estrogen receptor modulators are compounds of interest because of their estrogenic agonistic/antagonistic effects and tissue specificity. These compounds have many clinical applications, particularly for breast cancer treatment and osteoporosis in postmenopausal women, as well as for the treatment of climacteric symptoms. Similar to estrogens, neuroprotective effects of estrogen receptor modulators have been described in different models. However, the mechanisms of action of these compounds in the central nervous system have not been fully described. We conducted a systematic search to investigate the effects of estrogen receptor modulators in the central nervous system, focusing on the modulation of cytoskeletal proteins. We found that raloxifene, tamoxifen, and tibolone modulate some cytoskeletal proteins such as tau, microtuble-associated protein 1(MAP1), MAP2, neurofilament 38(NF38) by different mechanisms of action and at different levels: neuronal microfilaments, intermediate filaments, and microtubule-associated proteins. 17The detrimental effects of lipopolysaccharideinduced neuroinflammation on adult hippocampal neurogenesis depend on the duration of the pro-inflammatory response显示文摘Adult hippocampal neurogenesis is a finely tuned process regulated by extrinsic factors. Neuroinflammation is a hallmark of several pathological conditions underlying dysregulation of neurogenesis. In animal models, lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced neuroinflammation leads to a neurogenic decrease mainly associated to the early inflammatory response. However, it is not well understood how the neuroinflammatory response progresses over time and if neurogenesis continues to be diminished during the late neuroinflammatory response. Moreover, it is unknown if repeated intermittent administration of LPS along time induces a greater reduction in neurogenesis. We administered one single intraperitoneal injection of LPS or saline or four repeated injections(one per week) of LPS or saline to young-adult mice. A cohort of new cells was labeled with three 5-bromo-2-deoxyuridine injections(one per day) 4 days after the last LPS injection. We evaluated systemic and neuroinflammation-associated parameters and compared the effects of the late neuroinflammatory response on neurogenesis induced by each protocol. Our results show that 1) a single LPS injection leads to a late pro-inflammatory response characterized by microglial activation, moderate astrocytic reaction and increased interleukin-6 levels. This response correlates in time with decreased neurogenesis and 2) a repeated intermittent injection of LPS does not elicit a late pro-inflammatory response although activated microglia persists. The latter profile is not accompanied by a continued longterm hippocampal neurogenic decrease.
