| 1 | Platelets in Kawasaki disease:Is this only a numbers game or something beyond?显示文摘Kawasaki disease(KD)is a medium vessel vasculitis with predilection to cause coronary artery abnormalities.KD is now the most common cause of acquired heart disease in developed countries.Thrombocytosis is consistently found in patients with KD,usually in 2nd to 3rd week of illness.Thrombocytopenia has occasionally been reported in the acute phase of KD.An increase or decrease in platelet number in patients with KD was initially considered to be a benign phenomenon.However,recent literature on platelet biology in KD has suggested that platelets are not only increasing but are rather activated.This phenomenon has been found to increase the risk of thrombosis in these patients.Similarly a fall in platelet counts during acute stage of KD has also been found to be associated with increased severity of disease.In this review,we update on the current best understanding about pathogenic role of platelets in patients with KD. | Kanika Arora Sandesh Guleria Ankur Kumar Jindal Amit Rawat Surjit Singh | 2020 | Genes & Diseases2020，7，1： | 9 |
| 2 | All ileo-cecal ulcers are not Crohn's:Changing perspectives of symptomatic ileocecal ulcers显示文摘AIM To investigated clinical,endoscopic and histopathological parameters of the patients presenting with ileocecal ulcers on colonoscopy.METHODS Consecutive symptomatic patients undergoing colonoscopy,and diagnosed to have ulcerations in the ileocecal(I/C) region,were enrolled.Biopsy was obtained and theirclinical presentation and outcome were recorded.RESULTS Out of 1632 colonoscopies,104 patients had ulcerations in the I/C region and were included in the study.Their median age was 44.5 years and 59% were males.The predominant presentation was lower GI bleed(55,53%),pain abdomen ± diarrhea(36,35%),fever(32,31%),and diarrhea alone(9,9%).On colonoscopy,terminal ileum was entered in 96(92%) cases.The distribution of ulcers was as follows:Ileum alone 40%(38/96),cecum alone 33%(32/96),and both ileum plus cecum 27%(26/96).The ulcers were multiple in 98% and in 34% there were additional ulcers elsewhere in colon.Based on clinical presentation and investigations,the etiology of ulcers was classified into infective causes(43%) and noninfective causes(57%).Fourteen patients(13%) were diagnosed to have Crohn's disease(CD).CONCLUSION Non-specific ileocecal ulcers are most common ulcers seen in ileo-cecal region.And if all infections are clubbed together then infection is the most common(> 40%) cause of ulcerations of the I/C region.Cecal involvement and fever are important clues to infective cause.On the contrary CD account for only 13% cases as a cause of ileo-cecalulcers.So all symptomatic patients with I/C ulcers on colonoscopy are not Crohn's. | Jay Toshniwal Romesh Chawlani Amit Thawrani Rajesh Sharma Anil Arora Hardik L Kotecha Mohan Goyal Vijendra Kirnake Pankaj Jain Pankaj Tyagi Naresh Bansal Munish Sachdeva Piyush Ranjan Mandhir Kumar Praveen Sharma Vikas Singla Rinkesh Bansal Vineet Shah Sunita Bhalla Ashish Kumar | 2017 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2017，9，7： | 5 |

| 7 | Adipocytokine profile in children with Kawasaki disease at a mean follow-up period of 5.5 years: A study from North India显示文摘BACKGROUND Kawasaki disease(KD)is an acute self-limited vasculitis with a predilection for coronary arteries.Children with KD may have altered lipid metabolism and abnormal lipid profiles that may last for prolonged periods.However,there is a paucity of literature on the role of adipocytokines in KD.AIM To estimate the levels of adipocytokines(adiponectin,leptin and resistin)during the convalescent phase of KD.METHODS Twenty children,who had KD at least three years earlier,were enrolled in this study.In addition,20 healthy controls were also enrolled.Clinical and laboratory profiles of patients were obtained from hospital records.Serum adiponectin,leptin and resistin levels were estimated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.RESULTS Mean age of the patients in the study group was 10.15±3 years and the male:female ratio was 1.5:1.Median serum resistin levels in patients with KD(27.77 ng/mL;[IQR:18.66,48.90])were decreased compared to controls(21.20 ng/mL;[IQR:14.80,27.00])(P=0.04).Median serum leptin levels in cases and controls were 1.83 ng/mL;(IQR:1.13,3.80),and 1.10 ng/mL;(IQR:0.41,2.88),respectively(P=0.09).Median serum adiponectin levels were similar in both cases(12.20μg/mL;[IQR:9.76,17.97])and controls(13.95μg/mL;[IQR:11.17,22.58]);(P=0.18).There was no significant difference in all 3 adipocytokines between children with(4/20)and without coronary artery abnormalities(16/20).CONCLUSION Serum resistin levels were significantly elevated in patients with KD during the convalescent phase compared to controls.Serum leptin levels appeared to be higher in patients with KD,although the difference was not statistically significant.Adiponectin levels were similar in both cases and controls.Raised resistin and leptin levels may partially explain lipid perturbations observed during the convalescent phase of KD. | Dibya Lochan Praharaj Amit Rawat Anju Gupta Kanika Arora Rakesh Kumar Pilania Sagar Bhattad Surjit Singh | 2022 | World Journal of Clinical Pediatrics2022，11，4： | 1 |

| 9 | Gamma Correction for Brightness Preservation in Natural Images显示文摘Due to improper acquisition settings and other noise artifacts,the image degraded to yield poor mean preservation in brightness.The simplest way to improve the preservation is the implementation of histogram equalization.Because of over-enhancement,it failed to preserve the mean brightness and produce the poor quality of the image.This paper proposes a multi-scale decomposi-tion for brightness preservation using gamma correction.After transformation to hue,saturation and intensity(HSI)channel,the 2D-discrete wavelet transform decomposed the intensity component into low and high-pass coefficients.At the next phase,gamma correction is used by auto-tuning the scale value.The scale is the modified constant value used in the logarithmic function.Further,the scale value is optimized to obtain better visual quality in the image.The optimized value is the weighted distribution of standard deviation-mean of low pass coefficients.Finally,the experimental result is estimated in terms of quality assessment measures used as absolute mean brightness error,the measure of information detail,signal to noise ratio and patch-based contrast quality in the image.By comparison,the proposed method proved to be suitably remarkable in retaining the mean brightness and better visual quality of the image. | Navleen S Rekhi Jagroop S Sidhu Amit Arora | 2023 | Computer Systems Science & Engineering2023，44，3： | 0 |

| 11 | Application of statistical learning theory for thermodynamic modeling of natural gas hydrates显示文摘The gas hydrate formation in pipelines of industries and chemical plants can cause various operational damages and can increase economic risks.Hence,the knowledge of hydrate formation conditions has become a critical research study to overcome the problems arising from the formation of hydrates.In this study,we applied an algorithm to develop an LSSVM model to predict the formation temperature of natural gas hydrate for a comprehensive range of data points.Total 188 experimental data points were applied from the literature for the development of the LSSVM model.The input parameter was finalized based on the structure of hydrates by each gas species.The results obtained by the LSSVM model have good accuracy as compared with empirical correlations available in the literature.This model gave the squared correlation coefficient(R2),and root mean square error of 0.9901 and 0.59974,respectively.The composition of gases may affect the phase equilibrium condition of gas hydrates.The applied algorithm revealed that the developed LSSVM model could become a good alternative for calculating the formation temperature of hydrate for the range of all data sets.The results showed that the proposed LSSVM model could be applicable for the prediction of hydrate formation temperature for all data points. | Anupama Kumari Mukund Madhaw C.B.Majumder Amit Arora Gaurav Dixit | 2021 | Petroleum2021，7，4： | 0 |
