1An extended treatment protocol with pegylated interferon and ribavirin for hepatitis C recurrence after liver transplantation显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the efflicacy and tolerability of an extended treatment protocol and to determine the predictors of sustained virological response (SVR) after liver transplantation (LT).METHODS: Between August 2005 and November 2008, patients with recurrent hepatitis C virus (HCV) after LT were selected for treatment if liver biopsy showed at least grade 2 inflammation and/or stage 2 flibrosis. All patients were to receive pegylated interferon (PEG)/regimens combining ribavirin (RBV) for an additional 48 wk after HCV undetectability.RESULTS: Extended protocol treatment was initiated in thirty patients. Overall, 73% had end of treatmentresponse and 60% had SVR. Nineteen patients completed treatment per protocol, of them, sixteen (84%) had end of treatment response, and fourteen (74%) achieved SVR. Both early virological response and 24-week virological response were individually associated with SVR but this association was not signif icant on multivariate analysis. Eleven patients (37%) discontinued therapy due to adverse effects. Cytopenias were the most common and most severe adverse effect, and required frquent growth factor use, dose adjustments and treatment cessations. 2Properties of a New Dental Photocurable Resin based on the Expanding Monomer and Threecomponent Photoinitiator System显示文摘The purpose of this study was to use a three-component photoinitiation system comprising 1wt% CQ(camphorquinone), 2wt% DMAEMA(2-(dimethylamino) ethyl meth acrylate) and 2wt% Ph2I+PF6-(diphenyliodonium hexafluorophosphate) to initiate the copolymerization of the matrix resins which combine bisphenol-S-bis(3-methacrylate-2-hydroxy propyl) ether(BisS-GMA) with the expanding monomer unsaturated spiro orthoesters 2-methylene-1,4,6-trispiro[4,4] nonane(MTOSN), for minimizing the volumetric shrinkage that generally occurs during polymerization. It was hypothesized that MTOSN would expand volumetrically during polymerization under the three-component photoinitiator system and further reductions in volumetric shrinkage would be obtained. The performance study which consists of degree of conversion and condition of the ring-opening reactions of MTOSN, volumetric shrinkage and mechanical properties including tensile bond strength, compressive strength and Vicker's hardness were carried out respectively by Fourier transfer infrared, the dilatometer and the universal testing machine. 3Deforestation Trends and Spatial Modelling of its Drivers in the Dry Temperate Forests of Northern Pakistan–A Case Study of Chitral显示文摘Deforestation is a major environmental challenge in the mountain areas of Pakistan. The study assessed trends in the forest cover in Chitral tehsil over the last two decades using supervised land cover classification of Landsat TM satellite images from 1992, 2000, and 2009, with a maximum likelihood algorithm. In 2009, the forest cover was 10.3% of the land area of Chitral(60,000 ha). The deforestation rate increased from 0.14% per annum in 1992–2000 to 0.54% per annum in 2000–2009, with 3,759 ha forest lost over the 17 years. The spatial drivers of deforestation were investigated using a cellular automaton modelling technique to project future forest conditions. Accessibility(elevation, slope), population density, distance to settlements, and distance to administrative boundary were strongly associated with neighbourhood deforestation. A model projection showed a further loss of 23% of existing forest in Chitral tehsil by 2030, and degradation of 8%, if deforestation continues at the present rate. Arandu Union Council, with 2212 households, will lose 85% of its forest. Local communities have limited income resources and high poverty and are heavily dependent on non-timber forest products for their livelihoods. 4Shifting dynamics of nature, society and agriculture in the Hindu Kush Himalayas: Perspectives for future mountain development显示文摘Current approaches for sustainable mountain development have several persisting warning signals. Economic globalization, profitoriented market development, and infrastructure development have significantly altered traditional nature-society interactions, increased environmental pressures, and challenged agricultural sustainability in the mountains. Some of the effects of globalization could also be beneficial. Social differentiation and disintegration of mountain communities' have weakened their collective stakes on natural resources resulting in decline in initiatives such as community forestry, collective water management, domestication of rapidly disappearing herbal species, and balancing of economic and ecological concerns. Population growth, food insecurity, unemployment, and increasing economic gaps between rich and poor have led to out-migration of youth. Sustained action promoting ownership of new initiatives for rehabilitating degraded mountain landscapes through macro-level global/national initiatives, mountain specific planning and development efforts is severely lacking in many areas on the Hindu Kush Himalayan region. Therefore, there is an urgent need for widening the scope of efforts directed to help mountain areas and communities, and a future thinking approach to enhance the sustainability of mountain areas as they are a valuable natural resource for humankind. 16Data mining for classification of power quality problems using WEKA and the effect of attributes on classification accuracy显示文摘There is growing interest in power quality issues due to wider developments in power delivery engineering.In order to maintain good power quality,it is necessary to detect and monitor power quality problems.The power quality monitoring requires storing large amount of data for analysis.This rapid increase in the size of databases has demanded new technique such as data mining to assist in the analysis and understanding of the data.This paper presents the classification of power quality problems such as voltage sag,swell,interruption and unbalance using data mining algorithms:J48,Random Tree and Random Forest decision trees.These algorithms are implemented on two sets of voltage data using WEKA software.The numeric attributes in first data set include 3-phase RMS voltages at the point of common coupling.In second data set,three more numeric attributes such as minimum,maximum and average voltages,are added along with 3-phase RMS voltages.The performance of the algorithms is evaluated in both the cases to determine the best classification algorithm,and the effect of addition of the three attributes in the second case is studied,which depicts the advantages in terms of classification accuracy and training time of the decision trees.S.Asha Kiranmai A.Jaya Laxmi 2018Protection and Control of Modern Power Systems2018,3,1:1
