| 1 | Contrast-enhanced 3D ultrasound in the radiofrequency ablation of liver tumors显示文摘Liver metastases and hepatocellular carcinomas are two of the most common causes of cancer deaths in the world.Radiofrequency ablation(RFA) is a well recognized,effective and minimally invasive means of treating malignant hepatic tumors.This article describes the use of contrast-enhanced 3D ultrasound(CE-3DUS) in the staging,targeting and follow-up of patients with liver tumors undergoing RFA.In particular,its value in the management of large hepatic lesions will be illustrated.Current limitations of CE-3DUS and future developments in the technique will also be discussed.In summary,CE-3DUS is useful in the RFA of liver tumors with improved detection and display of occult lesions and recurrence,in the assessment of lesional geometry and orientation for a more accurate planning and guidance of multiple RFA needle electrodes in large tumors and in the evaluation of residual or recurrent disease within the immediate and/or subsequent follow-up periods. | Edward Leen Senthil Kumar Shahid A Khan Gavin Low Keh Oon Ong Paul Tait Mike Averkiou | 2009 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2009，15，3： | 19 |
| 2 | Clinical utility of Epstein-Barr virus DNA and other liquid biopsy markers in nasopharyngeal carcinoma显示文摘Nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)is a malignant epithelial tumor ubiquitously associated with the Epstein-Barr virus(EBV),which is highly prevalent in South China,Southeast Asia,and North Africa.Despite being a highly radio-sensitive and treatable cancer,a majority of NPC patients are diagnosed in their advanced stage,and locoregional and distant relapses following definitive treatment contribute largely to cancer-specific mortality among these patients.Given that EBV-driven NPC is the predominant variant seen in endemic regions,various EBV detection methods have been developed and are utilized in screening,prognostication,and post-treatment surveillance of NPC patients.While the Immunoglobulin A(IgA)serology assay is the most extensively studied EBV detection method,the detection of plasma EBV DNA released during replication or cellular apoptosis has shown superior outcomes in endemic population screening,prognostication,and detection of distant relapse.Furthermore,there is emerging evidence on the use of circulating tumor cells,microRNAs,DNA hypermethylation,and combination assays in various clinical scenarios.Herein,this paper provides a comprehensive overview of the relevant studies using various EBV detection techniques in the management of NPC.Specifically,the recent advances,clinical evidence,and challenges associated with the clinical application of EBV liquid biopsies in population screening,prognostication,and surveillance of NPC are presented. | Rong Tan Sean Kean Ann Phua Yoke Lim Soong Lynette Lin Ean Oon Kian Sing Chan Sasidharan Swarnalatha Lucky Jamie Mong Min Han Tan Chwee Ming Lim | 2020 | Cancer Communications2020，40，11： | 8 |

| 4 | Mesuaferrea stem bark extract induces apoptosis and inhibits metastasis in human colorectal carcinoma HCT 116 cells, through modulation of multiple cell signalling pathways显示文摘Considering the great potential of natural products as anticancer agents, the present study was designed to explore the molecular mechanisms responsible for anticancer activities of Mesua ferrea stem bark extract against human colorectal carcinoma. Based on MTT assay results, bioactive sub-fraction(SF-3) was selected for further studies using HCT 116 cells. Repeated column chromatography resulted in isolation of less active α-amyrin from SF-3, which was identified and characterized by GC-MS and HPLC methods. α-amyrin and betulinic acid contents of SF-3 were measured by HPLC methods. Fluorescent assays revealed characteristic apoptotic features, including cell shrinkage, nuclear condensation, and marked decrease in mitochondrial membrane potential in SF-3 treated cells. In addition, increased levels of caspases-9 and-3/7 levels were also observed in SF-3 treated cells. SF-3 showed promising antimetastatic properties in multiple in vitro assays. Multi-pathway analysis revealed significant down-regulation of WNT, HIF-1α, and EGFR with simultaneous up-regulation of p53, Myc/Max, and TGF-β signalling pathways in SF-3 treated cells. In addition, promising growth inhibitory effects were observed in SF-3 treated HCT 116 tumour spheroids, which give a hint about in vivo antitumor efficacy of SF-3 phytoconstituents.
